I have a regular ol' sizzix and have the mini folder die which I cut and fold. I got very excited last week at ACMoore when I found the large file folder die for 4 bucks on clearance! After I got home though I realized it's one side (which makes sense to me since it's big). So, when I use this, do I do two and stick them together to make a real folder? Or do I do a one side only folder?

Confuzzled, please help.

A friend has that die & makes 2 sides and then adds either ribbon or printed paper as a "binding". It sort of looks like a book cover - you know? Personally I prefer my folders to open and I use the interior for journaling, a small photo, or some sort of memorabilia - like ticket stubs, etc. I'm not sure there's a right or wrong way for your own albums. For a swap, you might want to do the 2-sided thing...although I remember once getting a file folder in a swap that was sealed closed. :confused3

I ended up with the Coluzzle file folder template. Besides giving me the option of multiple sizes, I don't have to "put them together" to get one that opens...anything that saves steps. ;)

Cut your paper to twice the height of your file. Fold the paper in half. Place the folded edge just inside the cutting edge of the bottom of the folder. Die cut as normal. Leave as is or cut off the tab of the front "page". This is how I made all my file folder book covers for my swaps.

Oh good grief! DUH!! Now that makes a LOT more sense! ;) I'll have to share that with my friend. :lmao:

That's so funny....DUH was my exact reaction - that is exactly what I was looking for but would have never thought of it once I got my mind all tangled in one direction!

Thanks for the tip!
