:cool1: I was so excited to see the start of your report! It sounds like your planning session went great. Laura is the best, I was really pleased with everything that she did for us too. The carrot cake was a tough call for us too; we ended up just making it our top layer since we were able to pick 3 flavors for our cake. I love the food pictures; did you decide on the Mickey or GF butter?

Hey Cam! How awesome....sounds like a great day!
Glad you had a wonderful planning session:cloud9:
Thank you! I was so glad that I'd read so many TRs about PS/TS's beforehand so that I had some idea of what to expect. But it really can be overwhelming when you have to make all those decisions in such a short period of time. I was so glad that Meri said any of the decisions could be re-visited.
Hi Cam! Glad you are back with us finally :goodvibes Great TR for your planning session! :thumbsup2 I am sorry you did not get to try the pasta. This won't make you feel better about that but let me say that our vegetarian pasta dish was penne pasta with artichoke cream and julienne vegetables and it was my very favorite thing I ate at our reception buffet. :lovestruc I am not vegetarian either but If I could have a plate right now, I'd welcome it!!
I had Laura Kidd also and she was so helpful to me and did a great job on our floral
Are you on Sparkpeople too? I am Withspirit there!
Wow! Lisa, all that good news in one post. Thank you! I am so relieved to hear that you loved that vegetarian dish. I am going to just have to resign myself to feeding guests something we can't personally vouch for, but they are all so very accommodating and sweet that they will be easy to please. Fortunately, the appetizer and the soup and the salad and the veggie sides are all vegetarian, too, so if they aren't crazy about the pasta dish, we won't have to worry that they will go hungry! :goodvibes:
YEA!!!!! So good to have you back!!!!
Patty-- I missed you!! I must confess I ate a lot of food that was not "DRESS FRIENDLY" so I'm glad to have you motivate me to get back to the gym and back in gear! :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:  Let's see....any other ways to burn calories? Oh, yeah -- :dance3: :hyper: :laundy: :cheer2: LOL!!!
Cam!!!!! That was the day of our VR!!!! I wish I had known you were there - I was at the convention center from about 3:00pm - 6:00pm getting ready - I would have loved to have met you - we had our ceremony at 8:00pm - I am sure you were long gone by then - I am glad you had fun at your tasting session!
Oh, Lisa, I thought of you so many times that day! I knew you weren't at the WP, though, so I was sending pixiedust: and :goodvibes from afar!

So, Vanessa, is that your anniversary layer? We are only doing 2 layers, with the top layer being large enough to hold the castle topper and feed 40 and the bottom layer being just enough larger to look right proportionately. I am thinking maybe for marathon weekend 2010, we'll have to do an anniversary celebration and order a carrot cake from the GF bakery. :)

Cam Welcome back and everything looks so wonderful. Sorry about the pasta dish but at least WithDisneySpirit tried it so that's a plus. I would have loved to have a carrot cake when we got married (almost 12 years ago) because DH loves carrot cake but we didn't think of just getting one layer. I don't think the woman we had would have done that. Maybe for our VR.

Oh Cam!! It has been to long. I have just read through your entire thread and can't count the number of times you have made me cry (on a day where I am covering for the receptionist no less!!) You and Howard deserve this so much and I am so happy to read all about your planning. Everything is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!

Well, Cam, you KNOW I had to look. ;)
I'm sorry but you get no sympathy from me, having to eat all that cake. :lmao:
You guys look so adorable! :cloud9:
Please don't worry too much about the vegetarian meals. Disney has never disappointed me! I'm sure there will be plenty to eat but geez, I'll be too busy having fun anyway! :yay:
And how cool is it that you got to pick out what Mickey will be wearing! :cool2:

Thank you so much, everyone! We are really, really excited about all the special stuff we have planned for our guests, not the least of which is the fabulous food!! Oh, and the CAKE!!!! :yay: (I think we need a "yummy" smiley! ;) ).
Okay, I forgot to post on our trip to Carolyn Allen's. Let me just tell you that the staff there was absolutely wonderful! We got to meet Sue, whom I've seen in so many brides' pictures. She did all the measurements for DS and helped us make decisions about the accessories. Everything went so well and Andrew and Howard are both going to look so debonair! I just LOVE the white on white Mickey accessories and am really glad that Andrew wants to wear that. Very cool! ::MickeyMo
One thing I did that I think will be very helpful  is that we took Andrew's measurements at home and then put them on the same sheet with the measurements that Sue took. We'll measure him again about a week before we head to Orlando and alert Sue to any changes in the measurements we took at home in June, so that she can consider his growth when she brings his tux and accessories to the fitting. :goodvibes
Sue also helped me figure out how and when to ship my gown to her (I just cannot imagine how it is going to feel to do that -- I'm having flashes of panic already! ) and reassured me about getting everything scheduled efficiently. Currently the plan is as follows:
Thursday 3:00 -- fitting at BCV for DS and for DH's accessories
Sunday (late afternoon) -- dress steaming at GF (and she'll drop off any replacement pieces based on the fitting)
Tuesday -- Sue will pick everything up at GF bell services (including my gown if I want them to ship it back)
How awesome are they? :woohoo: :thumbsup2
I cannot say enough how positve and reassuring that experience was. Sue was just amazing AND her staff were delightful, and I really know that the tuxedo and dress steaming issues will be less stressful in January because of our positive experience there this trip.

Thank you so much, everyone! :grouphug:
Okay, my plan is to get our newsletter mailed out in Thursday's mail. Our guests can make ADRs for Saturday, January 10 on Monday, July 14, so I want to get word out to everyone in the newsletter. That is my MAJOR objective for this week.
My friend Marie is coming this weekend and we are going to work on the invitations. I must admit I am not a crafty kind of girl and I am in a panic when I think about how imperfect the invitations may be. BUT -- I am going to try to be very optimistic and confident that we can make my dream invitation. I am not sure that we can get all of them done this weekend, but that is my objective. I need LOTS of pixiedust: and :goodvibes from my DIS friends PLEASE!!

Thank you so much for the encouragement about the invitations! :grouphug:
Weekend projects:
Invitations. My friend Marie (MoH at our orig. wedding  ) is driving 2 hours tomorrow to spend some time with us and to help me make invitations. She is very talented and has always had a real knack for quality crafts. We are also going to play with the cricut and see what else we can come up with.
Green shoelaces. Back to the drawing board on this. Andrew died the shoelaces last night and worked really hard for an hour to do it, only to have them come out a very weird, pale aqua color. We have NO IDEA why that happened. So, I have to try to find lime green shoelaces. I found some online that are 27" long, but am reluctant to start with something way too long and cut them down. I know I will likely do that in the end, but I want to at least look at Michael's to see if they have ANYTHING that looks like green shoelaces.
I can't believe tomorrow is our 6 month mark!!! WOW! When we started considering this dream we were more than 13 months away from our date. I just cannot believe that we are more than halfway along the time continuum.
BEST NEWS OF ALL: Even without hearing from many of our guests yet, we have met our room minimum!!! We had reserved 60 (50 we agreed to set as our minimum + 10 as the 20% allowed overage). We hit 50 room nights with just the nights we've reserved for us (and our "adopted" daughter), DMIL, DSIL, our honeymoon nights, and 7 of our friends. I know other friends have also made their reservations, but it is a comfort to know their nights are sort of a "cushion" in case anyone ends up cancelling. :yay:

07-11-2008, 02:17 PM
cam, congrats on meeting your room min. That has to feel good to have that cushion too! that is my biggest concern.... good luck with your projects, have fun and I will keep my eye out for green shoe laces....:goodvibes

Cam--Wow, only 6 more months--how exciting for you--and now that I think of it scary for me (meaning that Marathon weekend is only 6 months away!) Glad to hear that you made your room minimum

So do you have pictures of the invitations you finished???

07-17-2008, 05:22 PM
Hi, everyone! I am sorry I haven't been here recently. I have been so busy working out (in the hopes of assuring that the dress will fit and that I will be able to complete the half-marathon 2 days before our vow renewal and still be on my feet afterwards), and I've been dealing with lots of family commitments, so I haven't had a chance to check in.
Not a whole lot to update, but this is what is going on (Oh, and I promise to post pictures later):
Dessert party invitations - my dear friend Marie (original Maid of Honor) spent last Saturday and Sunday at our house and we worked on lots of stuff. The DP invitation is finalized, but we only did the prototype because I am pretty convinced that as soon as they are printed based on an 8:00 showing of WISHES, WDW will change the time. LOL!. So, I am going to work on cutting the cording and taping the ends to look like shoe laces, for 40 invitations, and then will print the invitations once the time is set for WISHES.
Welcome bag decoration -- I had decided to print our logo on a white heart to put in the middle of the front of the pink shopping bag that our gym sack welcome bags will go in, for delivery to the resorts. This past weekend, I came up with the idea of printing the logo on a label and then using the cricut to cut the hearts out. The only problem was getting the hearts perfectly situated on the sheet so that when it went through the cricut, the logo would be located in the center of a heart. Well, Marie, with her brilliant engineer mind, figured out how to get it set up so that the logo would look nice (and centered) inside the heart. So, they are all printed AND cut! We also decided that that label would be pretty if it were layered over a piece of cardstock. Originally I thought we'd center the heart on the cardstock and not have any other writing except our logo. Then I came up with the idea of cutting a portrait-oriented rectangle of the cardstock, orienting the heart shaped label at the top of the rectangle and having text under it. We thought to put our two "wedding" dates, but Marie called me after her 2 hour drive home to say she'd been thinking and wouldn't it be nice to put "Celebrating our 25th year" or the like. So, now we are trying to come up with something like that. Maybe "Thank you for celebrating our 25th year with us at our Disney Fairy Tale Vow Renewal". So, that is still being brainstormed, but I did find gorgeous cucumber metallic (shimmery pale green) cardstock on clearance at Michael's this week and bought enough for the welcome bags AND for table tents for the DP.
DP centerpieces -- I was really excited when I came up with the idea of doing a vase full of star lollipops as the centerpieces for the DP. We found great small, but tall glass vases at Michael's and weighted them with pink/green/white sea glass. We then cut down the lollipop sticks to differing heights and pushed them down into the sea glass. We found gorgeous shimmery pale green chiffon ribbon that is wire edged in silver, and tied a big green bow around the glass. When we sat the arrangement on a pink tee shirt, it totally "popped" with the green ribbon picking up the green sea glass and the pink napkin picking up the pink sea glass. There are 8 different color star lollipops in each vase, since we are likely having up to 70 guests and up to 10 tables for the DP. Just thinking about how pretty these are makes me smile. I am going to make table tents for each table that will have some line from WISHES. I particularly like the opening line -- "When Stars are born, they possesss a gift or two. ..." Plenty of time to decide what we want and print them later (another item to add to my to-do list). The vases are now stuffed with tissue paper, to maintain the height and arrangement of the lollipops and then wrapped in lots of tissue paper and packed in lots of bubble wrap for their journey to Orlando.
Candy for welcome bags -- I bought big bags of Hersheys Hugs and Kisses (milk chocolate and cherry cordial) and Reese's peanut butter cup minis and small hershey bars. We'll put the labels on and probably pack them back in ziplock bags to be inserted into the plastic hearts in Orlando -- I want the chocolate to go in a carry-on but the plastic hearts would take up too much room.
Last thing -- Jenn's dress came in and we picked it up Sunday. It is gorgeous and the color is absolutely stunning on her. YAY!!
Okay, back soon with pix. Sorry to be so out of touch! HUGS!

As promised, here are the pictures. The one of the lollipops just doesn't show how pretty they are and I think they'll look even nicer at night in the dark with only some lighting in the area. We just didn't spend a lot of time making them perfect, since they'll be packed for almost six months, will have to make the trip to Orlando and then be unpacked, fluffed, have fresh ribbons tied to all of them, and be set on pretty pink napkins centered on white tableclothes (we hope). So, here are the centerpieces (oh, and I think I am going to add more lollipops to each arrangement):

Here is the prototype of the dessert party invitation (though I'm kind of sad and guilty that the surprise is ruined for any of our guests who visit my PJ). Then again, by the time Disney sets the January schedule and we can mail these, maybe all our friends will forget what they look like. LOL!

Thanks, Stephanie!! Isn't that image adorable? Someone here on the DIS in the DIS Creative Community did it exactly like I'd envisioned and then made their outfits WISH green for me. :cloud9: How perfect is that? Then, Andrew tried to dye shoe lace cording lime green to use and it came out pale aqua blue. So, Howard and I found the green cording (he says it is more "Emerald City" than WISH lime, but we both liked it anyway). We are using scotch tape to create the floogalbinder or whatever the plastic trim is called on shoelaces. :lmao: I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. :)

Thanks, Tammy! I am having so much fun doing this. It really is one more advantage to doing a VR at this point in our lives. I have time and resources to enjoy the planning and execution of these projects. The first time around, I was so busy with working 5 part-time jobs, studying for final exams and doing law school applications that even if we had more than 15 days to get ready, I still don't think I'd have made the time to make DIY projects for our guests or our decor. I am loving it!

Floogalbinder!:rotfl: That's a word you don't hear every day!
And you are so right about having time to do the DIY projects now. When Scott and I got married, he was just in a new job (less than a year) and I was trying to finish up pharmacy school. My mom and dad took care of the invites and the reception decor--my mom would ask my opinion on things and in the midst of finals my response was almost always, I just don't care, just get something. I would do things a lot different now--guess I should plan a VR--maybe 10 years?????

Stephanie -- I love that scene in "Cocktail" when Tom Cruise says some guy made his fortune by inventing that little plastic tip on a shoelace. :lmao:
Oh, and I'm glad your Mom asked your opinion about things for your wedding. Mine told me she'd picked the cake, picked my flowers, picked my gown, etc., etc. I think not having any input on anything at all actually kept me hyper-focused on the ceremony itself and the vows we wrote for each other, because those were things we COULD choose. Since I was 2 hours away on campus at least I was out of the hubbub of the planning my DM was doing. Right now, we are living in "wedding central" whenever I have some project on the [dining room] table, literally. LOL!
They came out great Cam!!!! So glad you were able to get so much accomplished. Enjoy sleeping in tomorrow (I hope too also). You really deserve it.
Thanks, Patty! I am so glad I had an expert cricut operator to help me figure it all out from the very start.
The dessert party invites are so wonderful, Cam!!!! They just look great to me and I think your centerpieces are yummy looking :lovestruc
Thank you, Lisa! I cannot believe that I could envision something and have it come together so close to what I'd envisioned. I LOVE the running Mickey & Minnie graphic and am incorporating it in lots of ways.

That is so funny, Tammy! Howard is probably wondering, too, but he has been so involved and supportive and encouraging. He praises all my efforts and between him and Marie, and their analytical AND creative thought processes, we were able to do it all without me stressing over it at all.
I must admit, the VR invitations are my biggest concern right now and really the only thing I am even slightly worried about. I have seen so many beautiful invitations here and I really want ours to be the vision I have in my head. Since I have time this weekend, I may start working on the prototype. At least all the information for the main part of the invite is static (locations and times). I can work on the inserts as the information for them is set (i.e., transportation, etc.)
In other news --
ROOM BLOCK -- Most of our guests have made their reservations and we have well exceeded our room night requirements. :yay: I seriously think that DFTW should have some additional consideration for brides whose guests book so many rooms. For example, if you have a 25 night minimum and you get 60 or 75 nights, they could give you a restaurant voucher or something. It just seems like there is no incentive to having our guests book on-property, and in fact, some of ours who know we don't need them to help us meet our room minimum will look at other alternatives. WDW certainly loses the revenues of having those people in their resorts and using their on-site restaurants.
REHEARSAL DINNER -- we were able to book our rehearsal dinner for OHana with what I hope will be time for us all to have a drink together between the rehearsal and the dinner. And since it is on the monorail, we should be in good shape to head over and help set up or check out the dessert party. 1900 Park Faire had the advantage of opening at 4:30 so that we'd have less of a potential time crunch, but I think 2 hours will be good.
It's all starting to come together! :cloud9:

So, the big news now is that all of our ADRs are made. :woohoo: Once the park schedules were released earlier this week, we were able to figure out whether the ADRs we'd already made were still logical. So, last night, we sat down and figured everything out. This is what it looks like as of now:
Tuesday -- enjoy being guests at the GF all day and head to DHS for dinner with some friends at Hollywood Brown Derby. The park closes at 7pm so a 6:30 ADR means we'll exit through a nearly deserted DHS. :thumbsup2
Wednesday -- check out of GF and check in at Wilderness Lodge Villas. Lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe and just generally enjoy the resort
Thursday -- Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table
Friday-- 11:30 lunch at Tusker House (we are FINALLY going to really explore the AK) and then when AK closes, we'll head over to EPCOT for late Magic Hours and a late dinner at Coral Reef.
Saturday -- brunch with Lilo & Stitch at OHana's and dinner at California Grill (still have to book this dinner)
Sunday -- after we check out, we'll spend pre-airport time at DTD, so I suggested Wolfgang Puck's Cafe, which I have tried with a friend and LOVED. I think Howard will really enjoy it too.
Other news -- Next weekend, my friend Marie will come again to work on VR stuff and I am hoping to finalize the VR invitation. Hopefully, by then, I will have finished the DP invitations, too.
Oh, and Howard and I chose the menu for the pre-reception. Since we are doing a full meal for the reception, we thought it might be nice to stick to lighter/brunch-like selections for the pre-reception. We chose
warm muffin assortment
warm strawberry turnovers
fresh & tropical fruit display

I'm so far behind on everything... first, the dessert party table tents with sayings from Wishes is so great! I can't wait to see what you come with for all of them. The cucumber paper sounds really pretty too.
I agree, the dessert party centerpieces will be great for the dessert party. The stars definitely go with the wishes theme. The colored napkins is such a great way to dress up those table for an even better price :thumbsup2
The Minnie and Mickey logo is so cute, I love all of the people on the creative board!
The pre-reception sounds yummy; the strawberry turnovers sounds really good. The tropical drink sounds similar to what we had during our pre-reception.

I had my first (really extreme, I might add) VR nightmare last night that included me wearing an ugly dress (on me) that just didn't fit right, my hair having been cut and styled in a style that was short and ugly and NOT the romantic updo I am planning, running 1/2 hour late, very hungry, some unknown photographer who dressed in white and painted his face white so as to be "unobtrusive" and guests arriving late even though we were running 1/2 hour late.
Most importantly, the date had been moved up many months for unknown reason and we hadn't had a chance to write our ceremony or vows or to plan the music AND our friend Kevin was unable to be our Minister and there was some old guy with white hair (maybe Rev. Jack Day since I'd recently seen him in another bride's photos?) :sad1:
I remember my friend Jessica kept saying everything would be alright and I said "Well, I hope Howard will be willing to do this again -- the right way -- in 5 years." I told Howard about it this morning and when I got to the part about doing it all over again in another 5 years he said something along the lines of "That's fine by me." What a sweetie!

Here is the prototype of the dessert party invitation (though I'm kind of sad and guilty that the surprise is ruined for any of our guests who visit my PJ). Then again, by the time Disney sets the January schedule and we can mail these, maybe all our friends will forget what they look like. LOL!
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DPinvite.jpg
Cam those candy flowers are great and I agree with Vanessa they match perfectly to your theme of Wishes. Those invites are so cute and I totally love the idea of you running with your Minnie veil ears.
It reminds me of that, too. But did you notice Minnie is wearing a veil? :lovestruc How stinkin' cute is that? Which reminds me, if I'm going to run the 1/2 in my Minnie ears & veil, I'll have to train in them this fall. :lmao: Just kidding!
We chose
warm muffin assortment
warm strawberry turnovers
fresh & tropical fruit display
tropical orange-mango juice
apple juice
What do you think of those choices?

Actually, Patty, I am beginning to get worried about how fast time is going! :scared: I really want to finalize our newsletter tomorrow and try to get it mailed this week. Next weekend will be the invitations for the vow renewal itself, and finishing up the dessert party invitations. YAY!
And, thank you so much for running with me. I am afraid half-marathon training may get back-burnered if I dont' get a lot of wedding stuff taken care of early. I will definitely need the time to train (and for dance lessons), so I have to keep the VR stuff moving forward. I love every minute of it, though!

Lynne - Please do NOT remind me how close this is getting! ;) :scared1:
Need advice on 2 things:
1. Newsletters are done -- 1 sheet, double-sided with pix on both sides. Because of the pix, regular paper won't work (the text and pix show through), so I tried it on cardstock and it looks much better and can be folded as long as the crease gets flattened. Do you think the cardstock is stupid for a "newsletter"?
2. Our BEO calls for black table linens for our dessert party. Would the pink napkin that I want under the centerpiece look terrible on black and does that create a whole different feel that we might not like? Which should we do:
a. stick with black linens and no pink cloth napkin under centerpiece? or
b. use white table linen and pink cloth napkin? or
c. black table linen with pink cloth napkin?
Looking forward to your advice!

First, cardstock is fine for your newsletter, but you might be able to find a thicker paper (that's not that thick) to use.
Also, pink at black is a wonderful combination!!! That's what Dale & Stephy's wedding colors were!

And our rehearsal dinner is at Ohana on Sunday before our dessert party
Monday is all of the wedding related stuff, and even though the reception is over at 4, we don't want to make any plans for dinner. It may just be a room-service night. ;)
Tuesday (day after wedding): dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby
Wednesday (checking out of GF and into Wilderness Lodge Villas): lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Thursday: dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table at 6:55 (WISHES is at 8! )
Friday: Brunch at Tusker House; late dinner at Coral Reef

Thanks, everyone! It is always kind of hard to make ADRs when you aren't certain which park you want to be in on any given day, and you have no idea of the weather forcast. So, we instead figured we'd decide on parks based on the ADRs and we aren't committed to being in any one park all day on any day. Our plan was to try some new restaurants this trip. We've never been to Ohana's brunch, Hollywood Brown Derby, Cinderella's Royal Table, Tusker House, Coral Reef or California Grill. I've been to Wolfgang Puck, but Howard hasn't. I've been running everything I can through our Disney Visa and we'll use points to pay for most, if not all, of our table service meals. We also have the DDE card, so we get a 20% discount on all table service meals. :woohoo:
My plan for the honeymoon is to spend lots of quality time with Howard, sleep in every morning, and eat ONLY non-"dress-friendly" food. :lmao:

We have been pretty productive this week, and I'm thrilled with how everything has turned out. Howard and I finished up the newsletter earlier this week and mailed it on Friday. This is how it turned out:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02755.jpg
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02756.jpg
Then, my friend Marie came Friday and we finished preparing the "shoelaces" for the dessert party invitations and did all the "hugs & kisses" hearts:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02748.jpg
Yesterday, we worked on the vow renewal invitation, but we still can't figure out the wording precisely, so we are thinking about that for a while before we finish them.
Instead, we finished up the designs for the welcome bags. Once we put the logo near the green paper, we realized the "K" didn't show up as well, so I decided we should add pink ribbon. We had fun at Michael's choosing about 8 different shades to find which one would pick up the K and not clash with the shopping bag, PLUS I have discovered the wonder of glue dots. LOL!
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02742.jpg
Now the outside of the bags are done except for the ribbon-tied tag that will list the guest name, arrival date and reservation number (Here is Marie protesting about me taking her picture! )
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02744.jpg
Last night, I finished formatting the wrappers for the mini candy bars and then had the idea to print them on labels so I didn't have to tape them around the candy bars (you can see on the castle one that the tape doesn't look great). There are 2 designs, that mimic our dessert party invitation graphic and our vow renewal invitation graphic and both carry our vow renewal weekend theme "All of Our WISHES Have Come True".

Thank you so much, everyone! You guys are really, really sweet!
I WISH I could get the dessert party invitations finalized but Meri said the fireworks time still isn't on their internal calendar and could be changed, so I'm going to hold off for a little while.
I started a thread about the VR invitation wording that I am struggling with -- I thought we had it perfectly composed until Marie pointed out that it didn't have our names in the text. Whoops!! LOL! So, we're still working on that piece. I may just add "Love, Cam & Howard" at the bottom. ;)
The one irritation I have right now is that I'd told all of our guests to wait on buying tickets through any of the discounted websites until we saw the pricing through our DFTW website. Unfortunately, Disney raised all its park prices effective this past Sunday, from what I've heard, and now, unless the discount on our website is really good, our guests will end up paying MORE for waiting to buy "discounted" tickets on our website than if they'd bought them last week. :sad1: And there is still NO information available about what the pricing will be on our website. I think it's absurd, really -- we are less than 6 months out. I have a hard time believing no one can tell me what the pricing will be. I guess I'm a skeptic, but it seems very "calculated" to me (excuse the pun). I'm glad none of our events require park tickets.
Sorry, rant over.

Hiya honey!! Everything looks wonderful :goodvibes I wish I was as creative  I might have a go at something, just to so I can say I tried :woohoo: :lmao:
Thats so annoying about your park tickets! :headache: Maybe start a thread and ask other brides what sort of percentage discount they have received, so that might give you a rough idea of what you'd be looking at and then you could figure out whether to buy now or later. Personally, I would leave the option open to your guests and let them decide. Tell them the situation and let them choose - then its not on your head ;) You need to eliminate as much stress as possible and giving them the choice is one less thing for you to worry about

Cam--that stinks about the park tickets. I had to convince Scott to buy park tickets last weekend b/c of the increase. Maybe your discount will be equivalent to the old ticket pricing, one could hope right? And believe me, I think your guests will understand the extra $ for the park tickets to spend your special day with you and Howard. You don't need the extra stress honey!

Thanks, Joanne!! As far as some kind of craft, you could start small, like me, by just making some Disney-ified labels for "bare necessities" bags, if you are doing welcome bags. :lmao: Of course, my DD and DS had to be involved in formulating them -- there was the whole false start of using Pooh and having to change to Baloou, and then "equalizing" things by using Jenn's favorite -- Eeyore -- on the gum packs. It has been so much fun sharing the planning with them. :cloud9:
Love your idea of a thread about the discounts. I'll give that a try.

Stephanie -- I am SOOO glad that you were on the ball about the tickets. You are a smart girl! I know the price increase doesn't seem like that much to some people, especially when you break down the increase of a 10 day hopper to per day, but in fact, those price increases are significant especially in this economy and especially if you are a family of 4.
Fortunately, I think many of our guests will have APs. The ones who have not been to Disney before probably will not end up purchasing multi-day tickets and just grabbing a few hours here and there, as they might have otherwise.
I have to tell you, I am the consummate Disney freak and am outrageously loyal to the Company as a business enterprise so I am usually the first to defend their need to be profitable. But this is really irking me. I think I need to let it go. :sad2:

Okay, friends, I am going to faint. :faint: I am so excited! (yes, Jenn had to get her flair for the melodrama somewhere! ;) ) Our BEO had come in on July 26, but we were still waiting on floral because Laura was on vacation. Well, our floral proposal arrived today and I immediately couldn't stop the happy tears! Everything sounds so incredibly beautiful and elegant. Laura included this elaborately detailed list of everything I love and everything I don't like. ANd there are detailed instructions about what needs to go where and the fact that a particular candle needs to be pre-lit, etc. It all sounds so "right." And she provided very detailed descriptions of every component and I can imagine it all in my head. It sounds like a fantasy come to life. :cloud9:
We know there are lots of "pieces" that have to be cut on the BEO and the floral just because the totals are over the budget we have in mind, but it's so wonderful to see everything listed as a line item so that we can see the financial impact of cutting back on some unnecessary luxuries.

I found a gorgeous bag and won it on ebay. On rehearsal day, I will be checking in to the GF, then going to the rehearsal, then to rehearsal dinner, then decorating for the DP and attending the DP. I found the cutest pink leather shoes for those events (now to find an outfit to match the shoes!), but had a hard time finding a bag. Today I decided not to go for pretty but non-functional, and I started looking for a leather tote.
Look what I found! It will be perfect for carrying all the paperwork I inevitably have with me. ;)

It does sound funny when you put it that way! I don't think I ever posted a picture of my cute pink shoes (originally bought to wear under my gown, but then decided to go with silver):
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/pinkheel.jpg
UGH! Have been having problems with trying to edit my earlier post, so I'll include this here:
I found an absolutely exquisite blanket the other day. I have no real need for it, but figure if it is cold the night of the dessert party, I can use it to wrap around me. If it isn’t cold, we’ll just throw it over the sheets on our bed. It is sooo soft. It is called a n.a.p. blanket by Brookstone and the pattern on it looks like individual rosettes. It is soooo pretty and it was ridiculously expensive, but I had a great coupon and Marie was urging me to get it (gotta’ love it when your best friend is willing to be your partner in crime for shopping!) LOL!
So, here is what it looks like (I got the one on top, called "ivory" but actually pretty white):
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/napblanket.jpg
And here is a close-up of the texture, though it is too close to show the beautiful rosette shapes:

I got a great buy on ebay. I'd seen one similar for $120 that was embellished only on one side and the back was satin. This one is embellished on both sides and was $19.99 plus shipping! It is embellished with seed pearls and sequins and has all silver hardware. :yay:

Thanks, everyone! Linda, good luck in your search. I have another thread on the main part of the weddings and honeymoon forum about finding a purse, and Carrie put together an ebay search query that I used to find mine. The seller has a very good feedback rating and lots of gorgeous purses at very reasonable prices. I haven't found another that had seed pearls & beads & sequins on front and back with silver hardware. I hope you are lucky in finding something you'll love!
Howard and I went to dinner last night and started our fine-tooth comb review of our BEO. Our transportation logistics will have a big impact on the BEO so I am hoping to get a better handle on what our guests will need and when before we finalize any decisions. We priced everything out for 40 people for the VR and for 70 for the dessert party, and I think those numbers will be lower, so we'll focus on that as well. Howard was the General Manager of a florist for a while and I left the floral/decor BEO to him for the first "sweep" and we both agree it looks wonderful. I'm hoping to turn the BEO and floral around soon, so that we can see a revised version.
I also got another small item done last night. I found all the quotes we want to use for the table tents for the dessert party. Mostly, they are phrases or verses from WISHES and there is one by Walt. My plan is for them to go on the same cool cucumber (shimmer pale green) card stock as the welcome bag decoration (trying to have continuity whenever possible), with some kind of embellishment - maybe a piece of that awesome pink ribbon or a pink crystal mickey head. Really excited to have these at the base of the centerpiece, sitting on a pink cloth napkin (I'll have to figure out how to tack them down, if it is breezy that night. Maybe I'll make the "tent" 3 sided and get more of the green & white seaglass and scatter it inside the base of the tent to hold it down.

I'm so excited! My friend Jessica just gave me a gorgeous lenox cake server for a birthday gift, that could be perfect for our cake cutting. (I'll have to see what Howard thinks). I LOVE my gown (even though I haven't seen the sample in nearly 3 months and I won't have mine until October). As I was looking at bridal magazines at the hairstylist this morning, it occurred to me, that like when you've found the right guy, you might admire the appearance of some other one, but none makes your heart flutter like "the one". LOL! Seriously, I must have seen pictures of hundreds of gowns, and while I could certainly appreciate many of them for the uniqueness or the material or design or whatever, NONE of them compared favorably to mine. :cloud9: :lovestruc I am convinced that the "right gown" finds each bride. :goodvibes

Congratulations!
THank you! The pink bag is smaller than I expected, but still will be perfect for all the paperwork I'll need that Sunday. I'll end up carrying some kind of heavy duty bag anyway for gifts to give out at the RD, so I'm glad the bag is cute even if it won't be a catch-all. :cutie: Randy is photograghing the dessert party, so I want to be sure to look as cute as this face & body can manage. :rotfl: As for tending to details now, I came to a very conscious conclusion several months ago. Once Andrew goes back to school, life will be so busy with marching band season. Then the holidays. Somewhere in there Howard and I want to take ballroom dancing lessons, too (something I've always promised myself we'd do when I lost some weight. Now that I've lost ~70 pounds and we have the VR to look forward to, it seems the perfect opportunity). So, I figure anything I can get done now (and especially anything I can take to Orlando and put in my Owners' Locker in September) will be a load off my mind.
Yesterday, I took the first steps toward organizing the piles of "stuff" for the VR
I gathered all the supplies I've bought and know I won't need, and returned it all to Michaels.
I pulled out the wrapped notepads for our guests, which I will decorate and label & package for storage
I printed the template for the door hangers and Howard cut it out. I am hoping to have them all done and printed and decorated in the next 2 weeks, also to take to storage
I bought a wax seal & sealing wax and Howard said he'll take care of sealing the envelopes when they are done
We found baskets for the men's and ladies' rooms at the reception site. I have to check with Meri to be sure it is okay to put those in the restrooms for our guests.
I sent all the leftover chocolate to Howard's office and to the candy dish in my office that I won't touch.
I tried on my garter to be sure it fits. It does. YAY!
I know there is some other stuff that is done, but can't remember it right now. Just so glad to see the to-do-now-before-life-gets-crazy list getting shorter. ;)

I am more than a bit compulsive about checking the time and wanted to find a silver-toned watch that would work with my jewelry for our VR. Found this one on ebay yesterday, lost the bid, got a second chance offer and Howard said it would go nicely with the already-procured "ear and neck blingage". LOL!

Thanks, Jennifer! I think as the day approaches, those nearest and dearest to me may persuade me NOT to worry about the time that day, but I'll feel better knowing I have it if I want to wear it. The nice thing is that I now will have a dressy silver-tone watch for whenever I wear silver tone jewelry with evening wear (DCL cruises, etc.), instead of having to carry my ordinary watch in my purse to check the time. ;)

Thanks, Patty and Belinda! I can't wait for it to arrive. It looks so pretty in the picture.
I think I am totally set now for "wedding" day, except for undergarments, and I haven't decided yet whether I will wear stockings. We have been in WDW the last 3 years for marathon weekend. The temperature has within each of those stays been variable within 20 degrees over the course of a week. So, it is hard to know whether our wedding day will be warm or chilly. I'll probably buy stockings but play it by ear whether to wear them. My feet may be a mess from the race, so it may be a good idea to wear stockings. LOL! All I need now are the dress and undergarments. I'll figure all of that out in late September or early October, I think.
As for the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner & dessert party, I have NO IDEA what to wear. I have the pink shoes & tote and I am hoping that if I haven't pushed the time envelope too much, my friend's Mom, who is an incredible jewelry artisan, might still be willing to make my jewelry with gorgeous swarovski star crystals that I bought. I may end up in white dressy capris (saw a cute pair on the j.marco website) with an embellished pink chiffon tunic-type top. Still keeping my eyes open and I figure I will know it when I see it. :cutie:
And now, thanks to someone's very creative idea and their thread here, I have added "create a playlist for when I am getting ready VR morning" to my to-do list. I had already been compiling a playlist of songs that were popular while we were dating and the top 20 list from the week we got married, so I think a lot of those songs will be on the "morning of" list. I am afraid that anything real sentimental will have me a blubbering mess.

I had originally planned this music for our WISHES dessert party until the fireworks start, so it could definitely do double duty. If I play it on "wedding" morning, it would bring back the happy vibes from the night before and keep me calm. (um....maybe not, but it's a good plan nonetheless ;) )

Just another small update --
I emailed Meri about our baskets and there is no problem putting them in the restrooms, but people other than our wedding guests will likely use those restrooms, too, so she gave me a heads' up on that. Also, the colors of the restrooms are shades of peach with dark and light green accents, so somehow I don't think the pink gingham and blue gingham liners will work, though the white wicker will be fine. I got a good deal on the baskets, so I may end up removing the lining. I'd love to get those finalized and put in storage in September as well.
Our revised BEO arrived last night. It was great to see it all pulled together with our finalized pre-reception menu and the floral quote. :yay: We've started going through it very carefully but some of the reception menu details won't be finalized until after my September visit, so I don't feel like there is too huge a rush to turn this around (it helps that Meri is on vacation for a bit, too!)
The watch arrived yesterday. OMG! :faint: I can't even describe how perfect it is for what I was hoping to achieve. It is a very narrow band and an elongated oval face and the crystals in it are outright dazzling. I am so happy with it! IIRC the retail price was $225. I got it for $50 plus reasonable shipping, and will be able to wear it for any dressy event, so I am thrilled.
I spoke with Linda at Chapman Photography yesterday, too, and she said it won't be any problem if we end up wanting to extend our VR day package by an hour. :yay: She was an absolute darling to talk to.
I think that is everything for the moment. Howard is away this weekend working as a counselor for a Special Olympics camp and Andrew will be away at sleepaway band camp. Not sure about Jenn's plans, so I've decided tomorrow will be productive for wrapping up some DIY projects I want to take to WDW in September. My friend Patty is coming to help me with some Cricut stuff after our run and breakfast. I am also considering driving up to the Demetrios salon to visit my dress sample. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend, I'll have pix of some more completed projects.
My to-do list for the weekend:
1. Thank you tags for the gym bags
2. decorate the notepad packages and pack for storage
3. re-pack the DP centerpieces for easy transport and compact storage
4. figure out the whole embossing thing
5. figure out restroom basket issue, purchase & pack items for each & pack for transport and storage
6. find 3-wick candle for memorial table & pack for storage
What am I forgetting?

yay! I finally finished reading all 60 pages. I told you it would take me the rest of the week:rotfl:
I am so excited for you and your hubby to do this. What a special story you have and have created and will continue to live.
My hubby is now *slightly* considering doing this for us sometime. But, all this planning you are doing has me nervous. There is so much to do--so many little things.
Can't wait to read more as the time draws near:cutie:

Well, I finally bit the bullet. I have been so convinced that my gown won't fit when it arrives that I have been unable to bring myself to call and confirm the arrival timing. Finally did that today. It will ship from the manufacturing facility abroad to the Demetrios warehouse in NY on September 25. My salon should have it the second week of October. :scared1:
Patty -- i am thinking 4.5 miles tomorrow will not be enough. Are you up for 9? :lmao:

I got some more stuff done yesterday and am hoping to finalize those projects so that I can pack stuff and take it to Orlando in 2 1/2 weeks. :woohoo:
The dessert party invitations are printed (front & back), embossed on the back with a little tinkerbell (the embossing went pretty badly because Tink was small and detailed, but the thought is there. :tink: ), and hole-punched. All I have to do is tie the shoelaces onto them.
The dessert party envelopes are formatted and most of the addresses are in a word document. I have to proofread and then can print the envelopes and stamp them.
I refined and printed the door hangers, two per sheet. They need to be cut and the doorknob circle has to be cut, and then I have some embellishments for them.
The other couple of things I want to do tonight are:
1. decorate & label wrapped notepads
2. finalize the restroom hospitality baskets
3. create hang tags and cut ribbon for restroom hospitality baskets
4. create loops to glue to the back of the character faces for the gym bags, to hook them on.
5. finish water bottle labels to print & pack
Time is flying! Howard is calling about our dance lessons this week and I want everything in the BEO finalized by the end of the week except for the few things that have to be decided on 9/12. That will feel like a huge task crossed off our list.

Sounds like you'll be busy with all your craft projects, cant wait to see photos - you've got so many lovely ideas!! :goodvibes
Den and I went shopping today and we've decided to make each other a wedding day card to open the morning of the wedding, so we bought a card making kit and loads of bits n bobs like glue, glitter, stickers etc... can't wait to have a go :wizard: Mine will probably look like a childs, but its the thought that counts  :thumbsup2 So, it looks like I will have a craft project after all :woohoo: And for my something old - I am borrowing the horseshoe that my Grandma gave my mum before she walked down the aisle nearly 30 years ago, so me & mum are going to put some new ribbon on it and butterflies :cutie:
I'm just trying to work it out - are you in disney when we are??

Joanne - What a lovely, romantic idea to make cards for each other. I know I'd be a sobbing mess reading one, though. When Carrie (lurkyloo) posted that they'd written to each other, I was immediately taken with the idea, but I am so sentimental that I am worried it might be better to read a loveletter from Howard AFTER the reception.
So,what are you going to do with the horseshoe? Will you carry it on your wedding day? Or will it be your rehearsal "bouquet"? Or part of your centerpiece? How wonderful to have that tradition to hand down! :lovestruc

Wow - everything sounds so wonderful. You are so organized and everthing is so well planned. We have a little over two months to go and I am trying my hardest to get everthing done in time. You will have nothing left to do right before your big day and you can enjoy yourselves.
I have a question about the baskets for the restrooms. I'm trying to put together a list for items to put in it but I am stumped on the guys restroom. What type of things are you putting in each basket?
Thanks,

I found a gorgeous bag and won it on ebay. On rehearsal day, I will be checking in to the GF, then going to the rehearsal, then to rehearsal dinner, then decorating for the DP and attending the DP. I found the cutest pink leather shoes for those events (now to find an outfit to match the shoes!), but had a hard time finding a bag. Today I decided not to go for pretty but non-functional, and I started looking for a leather tote.
Look what I found! It will be perfect for carrying all the paperwork I inevitably have with me. ;)

Make sure to put someone in charge of getting your baskets out of the restroom. I decided to make one when we got to Florida, so I bought all the items and it was put in the bathroom at the LS, but I forgot to have someone pick it up. Disney collected all the rest of our items in the reception except the basket in the bathroom. I should have remembered to have one of my hostesses check for it. At least I know some people used it because I had to use some of the items we included to fix something on my dress :)
I can't believe you'll be done in Disney again soon to finalize more of your plans :cheer2:

Joanne --On the 13th we are going to have breakfast at 1900 Park Faire then go to DTD for shopping for some stuff I need for the welcome bags. We'll take everything back to POP, lounge by the pool & nap. That evening we are going to Pleasure Island for a final visit to Adventurers Club. Are you guys going to DTD that Saturday at all? It would be fun to meet up, even if just for an ice cream at Ghirardelli's or something. Let me know. :grouphug:

Vanessa-- I found cute little initial notepads at Christmas Tree Shoppe and found Mickey gel pens at Target. So, both of those are ending up in the welcome bags. I am sure neither is very good quality, but it's always nice to have notepaper and a pen in the hotel rooms.
We hadn't thought we'd reclaim the restroom guest baskets and kept that in mind when we chose relatively inexpensive baskets to use. However, it might be a good idea to put those on my checklist for whomever will gather up our stuff at the end of the reception. I'd rather do that than to have the restroom attendant throw them away. Thanks for the reminder!

Finally! I got some stuff accomplished last night with the help/patience of my darling hubby.
Funny story. The dessert party invitations have a green metallic looking corded lace that is supposed to look like a shoelace in our WISH race team color. So, Marie and I had cut all the lengths of cord and used scotch tape at each end to look like the ends of shoelaces. I dropped all of them in a box for whenever the dessert party invitations were printed. Last night, when I pulled them out, all the scotch tape had come unwound. UGH!! It took me quite a while to pull off all the old tape and re-tape 30 lengths x 2.
So, I re-taped & tied all the laces, finished the addresses in the computer and printed all the envelopes, stuffed the invitations in the envelopes and made up a little reminder card about transportatoin and timing for the DP. Howard cut the reminders, embossed a castle on the back of every envelope, put the reminders in, sealed the envelopes, and stamped them. What a guy!!! :lovestruc They are finally done!!! :woohoo:
Howard also cut all the door hangers, including the doorknob hole. I am sure there are plenty more things on my to-do list that I can finish up before 9/12 to take to Orlando with me and store in our owners' locker. What a relief it will be to wrap up a lot of these little details.
Howard also called about our ballroom dancing lessons and it looks like we'll start right after Labor Day. :cool1:
I also talked to Stan yesterday at STVS. We are really trying to figure out whether to have videography and if so, for what parts? DP? Pix at the GF before the ceremony? Ceremony--certainly. Reception? UGH! Tough to decide on this one.
Tonight we move DDturning20nextweek ;) back to campus so nothing will get done for our events, but it feels good to have gotten so much done last night. :yay:

Yay for accomplishment, Cam! :)
I always worry if my doing things early will cause problems. I ordered my invitations way in advance, and I found that by the time I actually stuffed the envelopes, many of the envelopes were already sealed shut due to humidity. It's like god is trying to tell us to stop being so proactive! :)

Lisa -- I really appreciate the advice. Actually, what you said is right in tune with what is sooo important to me. Our very dear friend, Kevin, is going to be our officiant and we aren't scripting his parts at all. Jenn and Andrew are both going to do readings. Howard and I will be writing vows to each other as well as re-affirming the traditional wedding vows. I really, really want to be able to be "in the moment" when it is happening, but I am sure I will not remember a whole lot, with the excitement of the day. So, at the very least, I really can't imagine not videotaping the ceremony. BTW, I think it is sooo cool that Rick has watched the DVD on his own. You can just tell in the photos that he is completely head-over-heels madly in love with you. :faint:

Thank you, everyone. Well, it's kind of funny. Last night as I listened to the voicemail, I think my face went pale because Howard said "what's wrong?" and I told him the gown was in. He immediately offered to drive me up to see it (about an hour away and I try not to drive at night because of my vision issues). He was literally willing to drop everything he was doing, including an 8 mile training run, to drive me up there to see it.  :love2: I called to confirm and found out the bolero isn't there yet (a pattern had to be created for it and someone had to design what parts of the gown material would be used for the pattern, and then it had to be cut and sewn and "finished"). That is likely to ship on the original ship date of the end of September. So, I am going to hold off on going to see the gown until after I get back from my trip to WDW next weekend. Maybe the bolero will arrive early and be in by then.

A lot of those people will have done a half marathon or marathon that weekend and will probably be wiped out by Sunday night AND we weren't able to invite them all to the ceremony and reception the next day because of our space limitations, but they are still willing to celebrate with us Sunday night. :cloud9:

These are the character tags I made for the gym bags - just for fun. As you can see, they aren't perfect. Lots of glue spots -- some of the glue that was supposed to go on blue and then disappear, didn't disapper. :sad1: I think our friends/family won't mind too much.

I also saw really cute personalized tee shirts on ebay and couldn't resist (Howard didn't know about these, so if he's reading, he's seeing them for the first time. ;) What do you think, honey?)
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02792.jpg
The dessert party invitations went out a couple weeks ago. I did an embossed Tinkerbell on the back. The front that is pictured was the sample, but most of the final ones were edited so that they say "retying the knot" instead of retying the "knot" (big difference, huh? I am such a geek. :rolleyes2 )
Front:

Back:

The door hangers were done and looked like this:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02787.jpg
And then, I decided they needed a bit of sprucing up, and some personalizing. So I did another DO NOT DISTURB on the back, with stickers chosen for each guest/room and dressed up the fronts a bit, too, so they are now two-sided:

I think that's everything for now. I am working on the hospitality baskets for the restrooms today, so that I can take those down to storage, as well.

Thank you, Angel! Hey, I think I know how to fix that picture in your signature. Go into the [img] code at the end of the web address and put a slash (the one that is next to the shift key on your keyboard) inside the first bracket and before the i. There. I'm sure that was clear as mud!

I am so glad everyone liked the door hangers. I hope our guests like them. They required a bunch of steps, the most critical of which was cutting out the shape AND the doorknob hole. Howard did those 2 critical tasks for me. :lovestruc Thank you, honey!!!
I loved everything! I think my fave is the Honey - Mooners shirts. Funny though, you get to be "honey" and Howard gets to be "mooners" I think you came out better, Cam ;) :goodvibes :lovestruc
Lisa, isn't that hysterical? See, I wanted "Cam" and "Howard" or "Bride" and "Groom" but Howard decided he needed to come up with something a bit different and insisted on the personalization. I think my laptop monitor is still marked with the coffee that spewed from my nose when I read his email telling me what the shirts had to say. :lmao:
Now, we have 3 pairs of cute shirts:
1. Our customizedgirl.com shirts where his says "Marrying her once was not enough" and other dear stuff and mine says something like "Fairy Tale Bride" (hmmm.... I don't quite remember exact wording).
2. Our Disney polos; and
3. Our Honeymoon teeshirts.
Fun!
WOW you have been a busy lady!! ;)
Everything looks great Cam :)
Thank you, Tracy! Yes, this is what I have been doing to keep myself from stress eating and when I SHOULD be exercising. LOL!
Your projects turned out great! Where did you get everything for the tags?
Thank you, Vanessa! Do you mean the character faces? I made them on the Cricut, which is a personalized cutting machine. I'd bought a Disney cartridge for it and each of those characters was on that cartridge. Each component is cut separately from cardstock by the machine and then I layered them all on an outline of the shape that the machine also cut. Cool, huh? I've been having so much fun with the Cricut and definitely feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of it. :cloud9:

Thanks, Lynn!!
Well, I had a truly terrible nightmare last night about the wedding. The only good thing is that this time it had NOTHING to do with the dress. LOL!
Somehow the time was 4:30 which was moved earlier from 5 at the last minute. When it was time to start, my DB and his family weren't there so we delayed the start waiting for them. Instead, all these other people that he'd told about the wedding and invited started streaming in. I think it was about 6 or 7 extra people. So, we finally get through the ceremony and everyone is standing around eating these huge shrimp and other hors d'euvres. Meri calls from the reception location to say that because we are running so late she might have to cancel the reception because the chef & waitstaff can't stay late. I'm crying and she calls back and says okay, to get everyone to the reception asap. As we are walking over, I have to tell all those extra guests that they can't stay because we are doing a plated meal instead of a buffet and there is no food for them. My DB is furious about me treating "his guests" badly and he & his family storm off as do all the extra guests and the reception is overshadowed by me being unhappy. Very bizarre, but definitely the convergence of a lot of "drama" and considerations that were obviously running through my head.
1. I recently found out that DB & his family may not come to the VR. Have heard lots of varying excuses and still haven't heard back from him on an innocuous phone message I left for him. So, no idea if they are coming or not.
I think it has something to do with the fact that my BFF (besides Howard), Jason, is walking me down the aisle. First of all, no one is "giving me away". As far as I'm concerned, I gave myself to Howard a LONG time ago (though my Dad walked me down the aisle the first time). Secondly, Jason and I are so close and he is going to be my morale support and his job is going to be to keep me from crying -- he has an outrageous sense of humor and knows me well enough to always know how to make me laugh. And he makes me feel so loved and precious. He is the person I want walking me down the aisle.
The other thing is that I did not ask my niece (12), who is also my Goddaughter, to be in the wedding. This goes back to our original decision that we are so blessed with so many wonderful people in our lives that we just wouldn't start choosing who will be in our wedding party. We want everyone else to enjoy the events and not have any wedding party type expenses and it will be Andrew at Howard's side and Jenn at mine.
The other thing that was at play is that Howard and I finally finished marking up the revised BEO last night and refined numbers to subtract people who we know are definitely not coming. This brought our DP number down significantly and our VR guest list from 40 (max in Whitehall) to 36.
Also, we figured that we'll save about $500 by using a limo for guest transportation in the morning instead of a charter. The limo can make 2 trips POP to GF and that, I think, takes care of all of our guests who aren't driving their rentals. Then, to get people from the WP to the pre-reception, we figured the limo can, again, make two trips or I am sure many of our friends will be more than willing to give others a ride that short distance. SO, it makes no sense to use a charter that can transport 40 people when we THINK there will be 10 at most who need transportation. And we can put that $500 savings toward the shuttles we are hiring to drive many of our guests to the airport after the reception. It makes much more sense. So, the transportation issues probably accounted for me dreaming of everyone walking en masse to the reception from the WP.
Of course, we were also looking at meal numbers at the same time, so that probably explains why I was worried about there not being enough meals. LOL!
So, I guess all of those thought processes came into play when I fell into an exhausted sleep last night.

Cam, I totally understand the family factor- I would love to have a little flower girl but with multiple little ones in family having to choose would be a def. area of concern so that is why like you it will be just our DDs in our wedding/VR party. Things will work out. All your plans are wonderful and everything will be amazing. Your plan/idea about the limo sounds like it will work. Goodluck! :goodvibes

Yes, Tammy, there are all sorts of potential cute "junior bridesmaids" "flower girls" and a precious (but maybe too old) ring bearer in our lives. We love them all dearly but decided not to have them in the "wedding party".
Okay, looking for your opinions on my tiara. Some of you might remember I bought 2 because I couldn't decide which I'd like. I wanted to show you the 2 tiaras and the necklace I am wearing and get your opinion.
Here they are:
My stunning necklace:

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/crystalscrolltiara.jpg
#2 --
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/crystalflowertiara.jpg
They are both really pretty in person and I THINK I've decided on the second one, but am looking for opinions.
Advantages of #1 -- very princessy; very sweet and filigree-like look to it. Would compliment the skirt of my gown. Disadvantages -- very princessy, sweet, filigree-like feel to it. ;) Also has a higher profile and looks more crown-ish to me.
Advantages of #2 -- lower profile. Looks less like a crown and more like a tiara. More substantial in look and feel, less delicate looking. Compliments the bodice of the gown and I think it goes better with the more "substantial" (as opposed to delicate) look of my jewelry. I really also love how some fo the flowers are three-dimensional, they sit out from the surface of the others and give it a really interesting look. Disadvantages -- maybe the more "substantial" look of it makes it look less real, but since I'm not pretending they're real diamonds, do I care if they look like crystals?
So, what do you think?

Right off the bat I have to ask...what's wrong with wearing a crown??? :goodvibes

Thank you, Judy, AB08, Tracey & Lisa! I feel badly about buying one and not wearing it but I'll either pass it along to another bride or hold it until Jenn's turn comes along. ;) The great thing is that together they cost less than $50 and the least expensive one that I tried and liked at the Demetrios salon was $300 plus tax. Gorgeous and definitely worthwhile if it is going to be a family heirloom, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it.
Yes, Judy, I am bringing both this weekend to show to Ana when she does my hair trial. Should I also bring the necklace and earrings so that you can see them together?

Hi, everyone! Thank you so much for your advice on the tiaras. I did decide to go with #2 and when I did my hair and makeup trial with Ana & Lily this weekend, we all decided it was a great choice.
So, I am back from my 3 day weekend at WDW and it was absolutely fabulous! I accomplished so much, even though Howard couldn't go with me. I think we are in a position now to finalize the BEO with our menu and beverage and linen choices, so that is a huge relief! :thumbsup2 Meri was so patient and sweet as I pondered 5 shades of pink and considered some yellow. Most importantly, she always makes me feel like my questions are no trouble at all, and she has some really creative ideas that make me think outside the box. :goodvibes Every encounter with her or her assistant Alix makes me feel so comfortable and reassured, thank God!
I also got all the shopping done for things I needed for our welcome bags at World of Disney. The concierge desk at the Grand Floridian was beyond fabulous. Rishaun (who I think is in management at GF) and Faith (at the concierge desk) were so genuinely enthusiastic and sweet and helpful. I walked out of there with the maps of each of the parks that I needed, as well as resort maps for our guests. :cloud9: So, I was able to put the park maps in our Owner's Locker and I brough the GF maps home to embellish with some hopefully not too hidden Mickeys to show our guests where each of our events is. :yay:
Another major accomplishment is that, with the help of my friend Judy, I was able to do a test run down the aisle at the WP to see if the music I want to use would be a good choice, and how much of it I have to excerpt and burn to a disk to be played for the bridal processional. What an absolutely WONDERFUL time I had accomplishing all of those things!

Jen -- It's funny you say that -- I have to urge Meri to express her opinions. She is just such a sweetheart and wants her brides to be happy and keeps saying that they can do anything I want and I have to practically beg her to tell me what she has seen that has worked and what hasn't worked. Adorable. She is completely sweet and kind and outrageously efficient and organized. We are soooo lucky we were "assigned" to her. That was some serious pixiedust:

Okay, I think I have finally gotten up the nerve to post hair & makeup trial pictures.
I cannot believe I am about to post a picture of me with no makeup on and my hair blow dried straight (and I try to NEVER be seen in public in short sleeves or a tank top). :scared1: The ONLY reason I am doing that is so that you can appreciate the miracle that Lily and Ana worked. :worship:
My hair and makeup trial was scheduled for Sunday morning at 8:30. The night before, my friend Judy and I were out at the Adventurers' Club at PI for my last visit before the club closes. Somewhere in the course of the evening I decided I NEEDED a Pamelia's Punch since, hey! when would I ever get another chance to have that delicious concoction? When it was served in a really cool tall plastic souvenir collector's cup (and Judy's non-alcoholic drink was served in a standard white WDW cup with the red letter/logo), I came up with the bright idea that I NEEDED a Kungaloosh! I mean, HEY! When would I ever get another chance to have that delicious concoction? :lmao: AND I really thought Judy and I should each bring a souvenir cup home to our DH's who couldn't join us. Why I thought two very potent alcoholic drinks was a bright idea after too many early mornings and late nights I cannot fathom.
So, when Ana and Lily showed up Sunday morning, I looked like this:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02860.jpg
As you can see, my face was all puffy, I had bags under my eyes, the paternal family trait creases between my eyebrows were pronounced, my crow's feet were wicked AND I had a sheet crease down one cheek from being practically comatose in one position while sleeping off the Pamelia's Punch and the Kungaloosh!
So, I was expecting only Ana, but I think she got word that I am a bit "appearance challenged", shall we say, and decided to bring reinforcements, the very talented and sweet Lily. Let me say this -- these are two of the most vivacious and energetic and kind women I have ever met. Judy put it exactly right -- they literally brought positive energy into the room. I couldn't believe how I went from nervous and shaking and embarassed and shy to comfortable and laughing. It was amazing! I showed Lily some pictures of makeup and we eliminated several that were too subtle and some that were too pink and some that were too brown in tones. We all agreed on a bit more dramatic and contoured look for the makeup. I also told Lily that I like my every day lipstick because it helps to camouflage my not real bright teeth. Well, Lily looked at my color and liked it but wanted to "pink" it up a bit and I thought that sounded very "bride-y" so I said sure. She took my color and blended it with some pink and something really shiny to create a berry tone that I LOVED!!
Okay, so as a reminder, here is the hairstyle I wanted Ana to consider:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/Hair-FINAL.jpg
Here is the "look" that Ana and Lily created for me:
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02873.jpg
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02874.jpg
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02868.jpg
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii221/keenercam/DSC02870.jpg
What do you think?
The only changes I expect to make for January are that my hair will be longer, so the curls in the back will be a bit more full; the pieces around my face will be cut in more of a taper, and just a bit shorter. Also, I am going to ask Ana to make the bottom of the back a bit less tight against my head and a little fuller. She had originally left some tendrils hanging down in the back and we all agreed we didn't like them, so she had to get all those pieces up into the curls, so I think she had to pull it a bit tight to get it pinned up. I still think it looked fabulous and if I look like that in January, I will be really happy.
As you can see, we all decided on the 2nd tiara as most complimentary with the hair style and jewelry and the "look" I wanted. At the end, Ana was such a darling to take the tiara out for me and make my hair look neat and pretty to go about my day. I still felt like a princess, though!

Sandy, Patty, Tammy, Val, Amanda, Belinda, Lisa, Jennifer & Laura – Thank you so much for all of your kind words! :grouphug: It is so reassuring to have objective opinions. Patty, thank you so much for coming over to provide encouragement during and after my H/M trial.
Belinda – Now, don’t laugh, but I was so excited to see your name under your post. I was sad in previous posts not to be able to refer to you by name. What a pretty name!
Lisa—What are you talking about? You did not need professional assistance! You are so beautiful and your pictures are wonderful!
Val – what a sweet fib about the “before” picture. Aren’t you kind?
Tammy – I’m glad you like the lip color. I was so happy that it looked more natural than it might have ended up. I definitely can’t pull off the sweet pinks or sexy reds and I was sooo excited that Lily didn’t try something that I didn’t like. I’m not sure I’d have had the courage to ask her to come up with something different.
Patty – You know he spoils me rotten! I came in from running this morning looking all grungy and unshowered and there he is all gorgeous in his suit and tie walking out the door for work and he took the time to make me feel beautiful and adored. :cloud9:
Howard – Thank you, honey! :lovestruc

Thank you, Christina & Tracey! Jenn just called and she loved the hair and makeup but commented that in some of the pics I look very squinty eyed, and usually people tell me I have big eyes. I had to explain to her that I'd been crying and then was trying not to get mascara or eyeliner all around my eyes so I was squinting. LOL!
Okay, today's news is that our revised BEO came in about $3400 less without the changes to the floral yet. YAY!!!! We were okay with the overall cost in the first one, but we already know which of our invitees won't be able to attend, so we reduced those numbers, modified transportation options, and noted that our "signature drink" is only being served for the toast. So, that was a HUGE difference in the budget. I know Laura's modified floral will also be less because there will be fewer people (fewer napkins, chair covers, etc.). We did not change a single thing she suggested for the flowers -- not even to reduce the number of crystals in my bouquet! ;) I think all of her ideas sound like they will be unbelievably gorgeous. I am really excited to see it all come together.

All I can say is, WOW! You're so beautiful, both with makeup and without! And one more thing, you look so slim! I know this is probably an inappropriate question (as you should never ask a lady her age or weight :lmao: ) but have you lost (even more than you already have) weight? You look so svelte!
You're going to look drop-dead gorgeous on your wedding day Cam! Best wishes!

Maria -- You are such a sweetheart! Thank you! I have been feeling so very discouraged because the scale hasn't budged in forever. I run 3x/week, do 100-200 crunches and 100-125 pushups every day and work out at the gym at least 3x/week (one of those includes with a personal trainer). And yet, the scale hasn't budged. However, I can see a difference in my face and my arms and legs (figures, right? :lmao: ). So, I guess I'd have to say that I haven't lost a pound, but all those pounds may be rearranging themselves a bit. :) I really, really appreciate the compliment, though. :cloud9:
