I would love to hear about any experiences of being at WDW in May. We have always vacationed in AUG, SEPT or OCT. For those of you, who have stayed at either BWV or AKV in May, how were the crowds, weather, etc. Are there any weeks in May that you would avoid?
Thank you for any and all replies!:thumbsup2

We've been a few times in May and will be back there again this year. Now that our youngest is in college, it works well to go right after she gets out.
Anyway, the crowds are fairly light. About like October in our experience. The weather is rather hot (at least for me) but without the extreme summer humidity. We've only been once in Sept and I think temps were similar to our May trips.

The only time I went in May was this year for 1 week.
It was wonderfully warm. Great swimming weather. During the evening it was cooler but not cold. One day, it rained for a few hours in the afternoon then stopped in time for dinner.
The parks were not crowded. You still needed to do the PS for meals but the lines were not long.
Forgot to mention that we went during the first week in May.

Fairly hot... a little rain... crowds aren't too bad.
We'll be there this May for a few days at BWV after a cruise on the Disney Wonder.

We go every year in May. Last year was Great. 7 days at VWL and 5 at BWV. I think it is a perfect time to go. Crowds are pretty low. Weather is very nice. We love it then. We are only going for 1 night at AKV before our DCL Repo cruise. We are going to miss our annual stay but its worth it to be on the Magic for 15 nights. :woohoo:

Early December was always my favorite time to do WDW UNTIL we did May last year!!! LOVE May, and the Flower and Gareden Festival! We plan to alternate May and December now!

Add another one in favor of May. It's our favorite time to guy. Not very hot, not very crowded. That later you go into May, the more crowded it gets, but even the last week of May isn't too bad.

Thank you for all of the great information. May sounds like a wonderful time to visit. We are looking to go in May 2009, so there is plenty of time to plan, which is my favorite hobby.:woohoo:

We will be at BWV 5/18-5/23 (on the waitlist for AKV). I hope it's not too crowded.

May is a must do time for me because of the F&G show at Epcot. There was one year of rain/coolishness, first week. Then there was the year we went over Mothers Day weekend, and we went to the Mothers Day Brunch. That was a wonderful experience, both for the food and the interaction with Mary Poppins and Burt. It was very hot when we went Mother's day and much more crowded. Also, DDE card doesn't work that weekend, but it was the last time DMom went as the "guest of honor" for our little family, and it was a great time.
Our trip begins April 30th next year...staying for 5 nights, BCV.

We have gone the first week in May for the last 3 years in a row. The earlier in the month you go, the better in terms of crowds. Remember that colleges and southern state schools get out in May, so ideally you want to go before all of those schools let out.
Crowds have always been moderate...not the amazng low crowds of early January, but certainly manageable. MUCH better than August. And if you are a Disney regular and know how to negotiate the parks, you shouldn't have much wait times for anything.
The last two years in a row, this week has been unseasonably HOT...low 90s. Coming from Maine, that is melting temps for us! :rotfl2:
Otherwise, love everything about traveling that time of year. Have fun!
