Last night there was a new show on WDW during the holidays with Samantha Brown. They featured all the parks and a "live" lighting of Cinderella's castle! Apparently, there is actually a show to light the castle!! :santa: This aired at 8:00 pm. and will be on again Friday at 8:00 p.m.
Right after this show, the food network had Raven Simone at WDW for the holidays and that show centered around all the food and treats. It was great.
On both shows, they indicated that you could call the Disney florist and order a Christmas tree and they would deliver it to your room and then after your stay, they ship it home. Does anyone know the phone # for the disney florist? We are going next Christmas and would love to do this. The tree was decorated with disney ornaments and lights and it was approximately 2 ft tall. So cute!! :goodvibes

I watched the show as well--and taped it to watch again before our trip next year. The TV doesn't actually do the ice castle justice. It is breathtaking. I certainly hope that the ice castle is back next year!

My DW and I stumbled across the show as well. I said to her that we have to take the kids there for Christmas at least one year. I've been there before in December but she nor the kids have. It is something to see, now she understands and may be willing to take that December trip, someday!

I loved the Samantha Brown show but I missed Raven. I will look for a rerun.
We are going 12/30-1/5 does anyone know if they will still be doing the tree lighting?

I saw most of the show but fell asleep before the end :( I really hope we can do WDW around Christmas one year..that time of year is the worst for my job..maybe I'll be able to retire one day :)

We caught the show as well.
We were thinking about a Christmas trip next year and this pretty much cemented it.
I'm curious, though, would we setup some unreal expectations if our first trip home was around Christmas?
I am surprised at how much time was spent on the villa at the Boardwalk!
It's almost like Disney is doing a subliminal (or at least VERY subtle) ad campaign for DVC. First the brief mention on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and now this.

Watched the show last night and was so happy that they showed the Boardwalk Resort which is my home resort. :)

Thanks for the information on the new show. I will have to set up the tv to record it on Friday. We are going to try and go next year from Dec 26th thru New Years. We were there last year at the beginning of Dec, and it was a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.

We just returned from our very first WDW trip and can say it was truly breath taking. The decorations and lights are gorgeous and I do not think it will make future trips any less fun or amazing. It will be fun for our boys (ages 11,9 and 5) to see the different seasons at the world and think how lucky we were to start off with the holidays. Any one on the fence go the first week of December, low crowds and nice weather. We were so impressed we joined the WDVC!!!

We only found out upon our return home that this was being filmed while we were there, and staying in Boardwalk during the filming of that segment! Too bad, as it would have been fun to do a little 'stargazing';)

As soon as she walked into the villa, DH said "here comes the DVC plug!!!" :rotfl:
And the Christmas trees are approximately $365. No...that is NOT a typo.

Here is the info on the Disney Florists. I just ordered some flowers for our arrival this Sunday and they were great to work with. :flower3:

Yes the fully decorated tree costs $ 365.00 :scared1:
They have some great set arrangements and can personalize any of them to exactly what you need/want. This is the first time I have ordered from them, we'll see how it goes.

The tree in Samantha Brown's room looked a lot more like the $140 tree in the link posted above. I hope that is the case- it was pretty small - I would guess it was under 3 feet tall.

It WAS the $140 tree. A live 2.5 ft (appox) boxwood tree.
The one mistake Samantha made: They will NOT box the $140 tree up for you and ship it home. They WILL box up the $365 tree up and ship it home for you.

You're better off taking a taxi ( if you don't drive) to walmart and getting a cheap 4 foot christmas tree and some disney ornaments.:wizard:

Does anyone know when the special was taped? We were at MGM one day and they were taping the parade with a really big crew and another day at one of the resorts they had another crew. I wonder if that was it or something else.
