OK, I think is the official start of the November 14th, 2009 DIS Meet Thread.

Just off the 12-1-07 Magic, and we booked this cruise.

Woohooo! I'm trying really hard to get DH to agree to let me book this date too. I LOVE the fact that it will double dip at CC!! I'm hoping to book it within the next few weeks. He's sold on the idea, just not on tying up $1000 almost 2 years out. Kwim? My original plan had been to book it while we were on the Wonder next November, but I think I will go ahead and book now, then rebook if it's a better deal on the ship.

So since you just got off the Magic, what was the weather like at CC this time of year? Too chilly to swim?

Did you book directly through Disney or through a TA?

THe weather was awesome. It rained for about 1 hours right when we docked at CC, and then the sun came out and got into the 80's. Where was not much wind blowing, but it still felt great.

I went snorkling around 10:30am and hte water was chilly at first, but I got used to it and snorkled for almost an hour and a half before the battery in the camera died.

I rebooked while onboard, so I got the $200 OBC, and then because I rebooked before Dec 10th, Disney gave Castaway Club members an extra $50 OBC for booking an '09 cruise. The rebooking agent then asked us if we wanted to transfer our reservation back to AAA to process (we get to keep all the OBCs, as well as getting an additional $150 OBC from AAA. So, we'll have $400 OBC when we sail in '09.

Hi RGroves:

We were on the 12/1 cruise as well. We booked onboard and were never told about an extra $50 OBC. Was this for any category? I'm going to call and find out if I am eligible.

By the way, were you in stateroom 7070? We were in 7084 and I remember seeing green Mickey ears on our way to the room.

We are booked on this cruise - we also rebooked onboard our 11/10 Eastern cruise and then moved to this date when the 09 itineraries came out. I don't know how I am going to wait two years for this cruise! It is myself, my husband and our son (who will be 7 when we cruise).

Actually we found out about the extra $50 in an email from Disney when we got home. I immediately called DCL Castaway Club and they verified it was already on my account. I'd try to call them and make sure. The special was if you booked a '09 cruise before December 10th, 2007... so if you rebooked while onboard you should get it.

Yes, we were in 7070. Someone STOLE our magnet with the cruise itenerary on it. I hope they like it with a large "Stateroom 7070" right in the middle of it. :rotfl:

We did 3 cruise in 3 years (all in December to mark our wedding anniversary), and on the 3rd one we decided we wanted to do more than just cruise every year and see more places and do other things. We booked a cruise 2 years out and we thought that it would never get here, but we're glad we did move it out.

I've been thinking about putting off our cruise that we currently have booked for Nov-08 and I just came across this double-dip to CC which I love the sound of!! But I can't get the rates for this cruise to pull up on the DCL website.:confused3 In the meantime I've got an inquiry in with DU since my currrent reservation is booked with them so hopefully I'll have an answer tomorrow.

Ok, I couldn't wait. I just called DCL and I was surprised to find the price is about the same as our 08 cruise so I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch my reservation as soon as I hear back from DU. I was also surprised to find all four of the secret verandah rooms are still available, when I noticed this cruise this morning I was certain those cabins would be gone by now but I was told none of them are booked yet (we have one booked for the 11/29/08 cruise).

DU officially switched my reservation today from the 11/29/08 western to the 11/14/09 double dip at CC...woohoo!! Except now we have to wait one more full year :sad1: but it will be worth it!!

Just got off the 1/5-1/12 Eastern 7 nighter and the only way I was getting my wife off the boat was to rebook so we picked this one because we LOVED CC.

677 Days to go, I can't believe how excited I already am to get back on the Magic.

Just booked this for our first cruise! We're so excited. I don't know how we'll survive the 22 month wait! I've never had to anticipate a vacation for that long. We do have 2 Disney trips planned between now and then, so there is that to look forward to! There's so much to learn in the meantime, so I guess I'll be here asking lots of questions!

My girls will be 8 (almost 9) and 6 at cruise time. They can't wait. Glad to see that others are on the same trip. My DH wanted this cruise because of the two stops at Castaway Cay.

We’re booked. We are DW, DS's 13 & 10, DD 8 (adjusted for 11/09) and me. This will be our third Western, first two were Jersey week Westerns. We couldn’t resist the double dip and booked early to get the same staterooms as our 11/07 Western. How quickly can 11/09 get here?

I was just on the Jan 26th Western and rebooked while we were onboard. I originally rebooked for May 2009 Western but when I got home I saw that it wouldn't work because my daughter will be graduating from High School and it will be crazy that month so I found this Nov 14th double dip and switched it. It will be myself, DH and DS's who will be 6 and 9 at the time that we sail.

To get the blood flowing (or maybe just the thread going), what have you done in Cozumel and Grand Cayman? Has anyone been to Xcaret? It seems like a very neat place to visit.

I was in Cozumel and Caymans about 12 years ago on a RCI cruise. Just went to Senor Frogs in Cozumel for drinks, did Stringray City in the Caymans-both were a good time.

Went to Xcaret several years ago when I was in Cancun. Did the Xcaret/Tulum Ruins combo tour., Xcaret was nice and relaxing, can do some snorkling with some large fish very close to you, grab a tube and float down a natural lazy river, or just grab a hammock and relax. Don't know if I would go again, too much other stuff to do and see.

Wow! You're bringing a whole entourage!

I find it incredibly admirable that you can bring so much family with you. I think it might be a disaster if I tried to lug any of my family along on a vacation (though my father threatened to hide in my luggage next time). It seems like it would take so much work. It's hard enough with two people! :lmao:

We are having a terrible snow storm today and keep thinking about the Disney Magic!!! We miss it so!!:sad1:

Does anyone know which excursions they plan on doing? We decided which ones we were going to do that day we got off of the Magic. :rotfl:

We are thinking about doing the bike one to the ruins. :scared: Has anyone done that one before?

There is nothing like getting back from a wonderful vacation and have your next one planned!!:yay:

jennifaerie

I completely understand. We're about to get that storm. Here, we've had almost eight feet of snow this winter.

We bought our first house in August of last year, and didn't have a shovel the first snow storm we got. Our mailbox is falling over, but the six feet of snow holding it up is preventing us from buying a new one until we thaw. If we thaw!

We are definitely visiting the turtle farm in Grand Cayman. It sounds like the farm is now located in a park, where they have all sorts of animals you can see. So if an excursion doesn't fit the bill, we may try to just go there on our own.

We also really want to go to Xcaret in Cozumel.

I remember reading the bike ride to the ruins was intense (it was in the Birnbaum guide), but there might be multiple bike trips. I think the point was that it was very hot when they went, so maybe it was mid-summer, though the average temperatures don't seem to change much.

02-26-2008, 12:50 PM
I got an email from DH - said he was not going to think about snow, or trying to get home later, he was just going to sit at his desk and contemplate Castaway Cay.

It has started here, the dreaded white death they call snow. One of these days I am going to move south. Like maybe to the Caribbean...

Oh...I'm right there with ya'. Another cruiser with OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder) was nice enough to give me a copy of the spreadsheet matrix back in 2005 and I've already revised info on it for 2009 plugging in shows, excursions I'm planning, onboard activities, etc.

I think I will go ahead and start a more detailed spreadsheet with everyone's cruise plans so that we can maybe coordinate (for those interested). For Palo and etc. it's great to gave connections in getting reservations...:goodvibes

Well - this has to be a short note, because it is DD's 9th birthday today and she didn't do her homework, as asked, before we went to dinner and now we are in crisis mode. I really hope the hormones aren't starting yet - one minute she has tears and is crying, the next minute she can be laughing.... :confused3 The fun is just beginning!!!:scared1:

Kris,

I haven't booked them yet....I've just reviewed the Navigators to confirm the normal start times (along with looking at my past cruises scheduled excursions) to plug them in....I do book through DCL though when the time comes just because I'm too chicken about going out on my own and missing the ship.

I am, however, thinking about doing GC on my own. I know that the first tenders go to people who have excursions through DCL first so I'll hang out a little extra on the ship that morning. I'm really thinking rather than having to take the whole Island Tour again so the girls can see the turtles that we'll just take a taxi or bus over to the Turtle Farm. It sounds like it will be cheaper and there's no way we should miss the ship only going there....:thumbsup2

Hey Kris, Thank you for getting the roll call list going...:woohoo: :woohoo:

We just got off the Magic and booked this cruise on the ship. We have done the Wonder X 2 and the Magic X 2 now. We decided to do this one with the two stops at CC since we were unable to dock at CC last week. It is my DH's favorite port of call and we were very sad. We keep booking cruises around celebrations. My birthday was last week and believe it or not, we did not realize it until after the trip was booked. We chose the week based on last years Spring Break (which in turns our district switched) and this cruise I was looking for the 2 CC stops. After booking it, I realized it would be over my DS's birthday..... So it must have meant to be. Our thread appears to have a lot of members. I just have to start placing real names with screen names in my head to actually get to know people.

After our cruise last week, I do not think I will do much planning. If you have been keeping up with the regular boards, you have seen we ended up not doing most of our ports of call and the activities on the ship changed hourly. So, we think we will just be Beach Bums this time and hop on back to Froggers in Mexico. We did the Western cruise before last. I guess it was a good lesson for me to not overplan.....

I would like to know where everyone else has sailed before and when. Like me, many do not use up all of the signature lines to place it there. So what is everyone elses' past DCL history. Right now we tend to be going every 18-20 months. :woohoo: :dance3:

CJLKIM

I was really surprised once I starting typing up the rollcall just how long it actually was already. It doesn't really look like it when you're just browsing the thread.

I've had pretty good luck with our cruises and ports. Our first trip in '05 was a standard Western but because of the hurricane taking out Cozumel we obviously couldn't stop there. We were supposed to be rerouted to Nassau but when we got onboard they announced they'd made special arrangements for us to go to Costa Maya. You should have seen the flood of people hit the excursion desk...but we just chose to check out the port then get back on the ship...nice and relaxing....

After the '05 diversion I was leary about Cozumel in '06 so I just booked the Beach Break so that I wouldn't really miss it if it was cancelled...needless to say that was a great excursion. We swam, did the paddle boats, lounged, ate...ate...ate. '06 was also a Double Dip and although we were able to dock both days, on Friday the wind was playing havic on the water so they cancelled some of the excursions...banana boat, parasailing, etc. No big deal there either...just lounged on the beach....

Having been to the ports before, I'm kind of an auto-pilot with planning. We knew exactly what we wanted to do in port so I've been able to get a general mock-up of our time. I know what DAY I want our couple's massage, Palo Brunch, etc. so it'll be just a matter of getting whatever time when we book them. Maybe it's the fact of having gone before that is actually allowing me to maybe branch away from the DCL excursions at Cayman and do it on our own...I know I can fit stuff in without worrying about missing the last tender....

Hey, speaking of that, I saw that Cayman was supposed to have started work on docks last year. Has anyone heard if they did? Tendering is okay but it sure would be nice to be able to just walk onshore and feel free to come and go off the ship throughout the day....

We'd always planned to cruise every 1-2 years but it'll have been 3 years when we go next. We had our 2nd cruise booked before ever going on our 1st and we had a 3rd one booked for '07 before going on our 2nd - then while onboard took advantage of the rebooking credits to get a better deal....except life got in the way and we had to cancel it all together. We plan to rebook onboard but are considering taking a round on the Wonder next time so we can say that we sailed on her. We'll add in some time at WDW since we've only really been there literally 1-1/2 days in our lives and the girls would love to hang out. We'll most likely do a Cat 6 on the Wonder and Poly at WDW. From there we just figure we'll rebook for a future date to be determined and maybe end up on one of the new ships when they are finished (depending on availability).

Well...gotta run...time for the girls to head out to school.

If anyone wants to start some "getting acquainted" chat sessions - let's through some days and times into a hat and see what we can come up with. Also need to know if AOL/AIM is okay with everyone or if people use another IM system (I have accounts set up with AIM, Yahoo and MSN...not to mention MySpace).

Holy cow! Is it really that many people?!

It will be me, and well, I guess by then, he'll be my husband (we're getting married this September)! It's very strange to say. Almost feels like I'm jinxing it! :)

I've only been on one cruise so far. We were on the Wonder, January 27th of this year. We're also going on a land/sea next January, same time.

When we were on the Magic July of our last cruise, we tendered to GC. We did not dock any place except Key West and CC. Since KW is not a port on theis cruise :woohoo: :woohoo: (not that I do not like it, I just like CC more), it is not in the count.

I too have an OCD problem with planning and I have to say, after 4 cruises on DCL I have truly learned to go with the flow. Now we do do Palos (even though last week, that was a disater). I am not one on the computer at midnight night 90 though. :surfweb: I have always did it casually and have always gotton what I asked for. Maybe it has just been the luck of the draw. This last cruise we did dinner X 1 and Brunch X2. I am just not a person to freak out before hand I guess....

We have never been the BIG excursion people either. We kind of just like the local aspects of the ports. We are very big into culture and trying to exsperience what the ports give us.

Can someone start a list that we can have everyones info on it that we can e-mail to everyone. We can then place screen names, true names, kids ages, city and state of residence, cabin numbers and dining status. I do not like placing all of that information on a public thread. Any volunteers, I am not very computer savy......

I have a link to a chat room that my old cruise meets was using until the DIS chat got fixed. If everyone is up for a group chat, we can go there very easy without joining just by clicking a link. How does that sound? :goodvibes

We've only done one cruise and that was on RC Sovereign of the Seas....so we are dying to go on a Disney Cruise and the anticipation is amazing!

I can't believe how many people are already on the list. It is going to be fun to get to know all of you. The only other cruise that we have been on was a 3 night Disney cruise. We didn't think we would like cruising so we did a land/sea package. Well, by day 2 we completly fell in love with it. I am just so excited to be doing a seven day, double dip!!!

Well I have never cruised before so I hope I don't go crazy waiting these 20 months or so. I love reading the DIS boards for some great tips and trip reports. I have many pages saved. :lmao: :lmao:

I started a spreadsheet when I began the roll call listing. For those of us already on the thread, if you want to send all your info to me in a Private Message then I'll get it all updated then I can email it out to everyone who wants one. As new folks join I can update it as well. I don't want to step on anyone's toes so if rgroves (as creator of this thread) wants to take over the list....I will be happy to pass it over to them.

Does anyone feel like putting together DIStag for the trip? I haven't done it before but thought maybe I'd give it a try. Or....I thought I might do up a bunch of limegreen mickey heads with magnets for my door...then fellow DISers could leave me notes. Of course, we could all do up some mickey heads with our DIS name and then "tag" each other by leaving them on the stateroom door....

Also, if anyone is interested, I think I still have the info for the limegreen bracelets we got in '06 that we could get engraved with something to commerate the cruise. In '06 we all paid for our own and then shipping costs. The person who ordered them then sent them out to everyone beforehand so that we could all wear them to the ship....we all knew who the DISers were at check-in...

Hey Guys, want to get a date and aim to meet in the chat room I was talking about? It would be great to talk a little as Kris said. We have a lot of Jen's on this trip too I see. I guess I will not call anyone by the wrong name if I just say "Jen".... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have written down notes reading through the thread and there are so many of us "double dipping". I guess as long as we are not in the chip bowl double dipping it will be okay.:lmao:

chop003, our DD's are the same age, maybe we can let them e-mail back and fourth. Same for Disney Footer, but it is your DS. Beth one of your DD is the same age as my DS.

Jen (KEN), Melissa, SillyPixie, rgrovews, bielen, Lori, JeanneB and our dear Canada Mate, how old are your kids if you are traveling with kids? I think we need to start a 10 year old thread though. Did I miss that in the requirements that you had to be traveling with a then 10 year old?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Seems like everyone else is.... My kids will be 8 and 12 at the time of travel.

HuskerMickey- We have just gotton to be really good friends with two other families from Nebraska. One even gave my son a red Husker Tee-shirt. Cool.:cool1: SO I saw that and got excited.

If you want to pick a chat date, let's do it..... I think we should set it a week out though, because that gives everyone time to catch up on the thread. Does anyone know when the DIS chat will be up and running again?

Hi all! We are booking this cruise as we speak and I cannot wait! We did our first Disney 7 day eastern Nov.10-17th 2007 (Hey Phelpsie I think you were on that one too no?) We were aiming to go on october double dip this year but all category 12's were sold out so I was ecstatic when I realized there was going to be one in November '09! My Family LOVED Castaway Cay and our time ran out before I even made it to Serenity Bay!! This will not happen in 2009! It will be DH,me and DD who will just have turned 8 on Nov.11. Hope to meet you all there!

This is the reason we decided to get Double Dipped as well. We have now been to CC X 3 and have never made it to SB. It was our goal two weeks ago and our ship was unable to dock; so being so disappointed I ran down to the rebooking desk and said I "need to be double dipped" when is the next one I can do. So this is how we picked this one. We have done the regular Western before but have never been DD.

That is a huge list!! That is great and I can't believe that we have 5 pages on this thread already! I would love to be in a chat but have no idea how to do that. I would need some help there.

Question: as far as the ages of the children that you have listed on the list. Do you want the ages they will be when we sail or their current ages.

On our last cruise, the group did small family gifts for children of other families and placed them in fish hangers outside our door. My girls love it and it was fun to see what you receive each time you returned to your room. Would anyone like to do that also?

Our last cruise was Nov.10-17th 2007 and they had alot of Christmas decorations up on the ship and at the port. Castaway Cay was not decorated though. I suspect that when we sail there will be decorations up but I dont know that it will be fully decorated. There will certainly be many opportunities to get a great photo of the family for Christmas cards!

Hello all. We are thinking about booking this one while on our Western cruise in May. What are the ports other than CC?

Also, does anyone know if DCL is still serving Krispy Kreme dounuts in the breakfast buffet? That was a nice plus for me lol.

This 11/14/09 cruise will be our 3rd DCL cruise. Hubby and I have 6 kids ages 13(DD), 12(DD), 10(DD), 8(DS), 6(DS) and 6(DS).

To get the blood flowing (or maybe just the thread going), what have you done in Cozumel and Grand Cayman? Has anyone been to Xcaret? It seems like a very neat place to visit.

We have done the Western twice. In Grand Cayman we have done Stingray City and The Pirate Encounter. We enjoyed both, but I would have to say that Stingray City was our favorite. In Cozumel we have done Horseback Riding and The Dolphin Encounter. We enjoyed both of these as well, but we absolutely loved the Dolphin Encounter. I could see us doing that again.

We're down in Washington, PA....

In the last post you mentioned the Stingrays. Did you actually go in with them and did you take kids? I'm not sure my son, who runs when he see ANTS! , will be okay with that. I'd love for the kids to do the dolphin encounter, but, again, I'm not sure how he'd be with them. I've been debating on whether to just watch, but then I KNOW he would see everyone in the water and want to do it too. He'll be 6 by the time we go, so maybe he'll outgrow that...:confused3

When we did Stingray City in Grand Cayman it was just me and my DW, but on our last cruise we did Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure at Castaway Cay. This is a much more controled environment and they clip the stingers off of the rays. Our DD was 5 years old at the time and she loved it. She even fed them by hand. She loved the dolphins, but there was another kid in our group that was a little intimidated. I think he was around 6 or 7 years old.

I've only been on one cruise so far. We were on the Wonder, January 27th of this year. We're also going on a land/sea next January, same time.

LUCKY! It looks like our next trip will be this cruise - may kill me!! I think we'll have to fit in just a quick WDW hit somewhere along the line or I will die. (or at least whine a lot!!) I keep hoping there will be some reason for me to go to Orlando, maybe business at the Convention Center, so I could sneak over to WDW when nobody's looking!

I can't believe how many people are already on this thread either. It's like 500 days away!! This will be an awesome cruise, I can feel it.

My plans are lots of Palo, lots of relaxing, lots of spa visits. Gene (husband) may have different plans - particularly as it pertains to me visiting the spa continually, the poor man and his over-protected Visa. I missed wine and martini tastings in January, so want to do that if we can. I am very excited about ports of call but have not made any plans yet. Castaway Cay is, of course, calling me (screaming my name really - probably does not help that it's my wallpaper and screen saver so I see it all day long).:hippie:

Is it bad of me to have looked at all of them to try and find me? I thought it'd be funny if we were standing in the same spot at the same time. :) No such luck. Though I may have had my stuff in a hammock in the back at some point. :)

Officially booked.... suppose to be a bunch of families from my daughters school. So far I am the only one who went to AAA to get any info... so hopefully someone else will join us. Hubby isn't going, just myself and my two daughters who will be 7 and 10 at the time of cruising. Hard for my daughter who just turned 6 to understand. She keeps telling everyone that she is going on a disney cruise. She hasn't even started Kindergarten yet.... so hard to explain to her that it is going to be when she is in 1st grade(when K seems like an eternity away for her). We are going to WDW this November for 6 nights in VWL. Looking forward to getting to know you all. We live outside of Pittsburgh, in Ohio... about 30 min from the airport.

Somewhat overwhelmed with all the information out there on what to expect and finding some conflicting information. We look forward to all the veteran advise and are grateful for such a great forum to pass the nearly 2 year gap. We are so excited  and are reading every form of literature available both Disney and non Disney. I too, am an obsessive compulsive planner and can relate totally to those who have admitted the same. We have take several trips to Disney World over the past few years as well as trips to Cancun and the Mayan Riviera region. We have done excursions to Tulum/Xcaret and Dolphin Discovery at Puerto Aventuras. Highly Recommend Both.

We took our 6 year old and 18 mo. old DDs on the Nautilus Undersea Tour in Grand Cayman. They both loved it. I think your 3 year olds would love it too. It's cheaper to book directly with the tour operator and they are located a 3 minute walk from where we dock/tender.

So, we are thinking about taking this cruise. What drew me was the double dip. We loved Castaway Cay so much the last time that we wanted to visit it twice.... We are me (SAHM 43), DH (44) and 2 DDs, one who will be turning 9 on the cruise and the other will be 4.

Please pass some pixie dust this way that I can sprinkle on my DH to convince him that we should go on this trip!!:rotfl2:

Hope you convince him. I too am a 43 year old SAHM... with 2 DD's... see it is fate!! My girls will be just turned 10 and 7 1/2 on our trip. My youngest is so excited, she keeps telling everyone about the cruise(forget that we are goign to WDW in Nov 08). We held her back from Kindergarten last year(my 21 year old neice had died just a few months earlier and it wasn't a good time to be away from mom all day for 5 days a week).... She cannot WAIT till kindergarten in August.... poor thing, I can't get her to understand that the cruise isn't till she is in 1st grade. That is FOREVER to her.

Can you tell me a bit more about the Nautilus Undersea Tour in Grand Cayman? I need to start doing some research on the shore excursions. If we don't make it to Sea World before Nov 09, will do the dolphin one.

binky1
04-18-2008, 07:24 AM
This was a very fun excursion for all ages. When you take the tender to the port, it's about a 3 minute walk to the tour. It's a boat that you climb down some steps into the bottom where there are all benches and all big glass windows. They take you out and show you all the fish, etc. and then a crew member dives down and feeds the fish. It's hard to take pictures because of the windows but it's more fun just to look for all the different fish. They have charts up on the walls so that you can identify them.

The company we used was very helpful. The website is http://res.atlantisadventures.com/tour_info.php?site=5&tour=32 (if this address doesn't come up in this post, just PM me). It was cheaper to deal directly with the company than thru Disney :rolleyes1

Hi,
Here's a good website that explains exactly what it is:
http://lisalovesdisney.com/Fish%20Extender.html

It's just a fun way to say hi to fellow DISers. Some people leave things that reflect where they are from. A running thread DIS thread joked about leaving cheese steak from Philly (a joke, people, a joke!).

It is a beautiful warm day here.

Cheers everyone,

Hey everyone!
PixiePop - FE's are a lot like Secret Santa gift holders. The idea is to leave a little treat or fun surprise for your fellow cruisers. The FE's themselves can be simple or elaborate. They are wall pockets that hang on the fish that has the room number.
I like to sew and I've made a couple of wall pocket holders as FE's just for fun for my October 2008 trip. I'm having so much fun with the idea already and it's quite a while until THAT cruise! :goodvibes
I've been collecting little trinkets and post-season toys (like easter eggs filled with tattoos or stickers) so my granddaughter & I can sneak them in everyone's fish extender. If I can find a way to get some pencils monogrammed with the cruise logo I might get some of those to pass out to the older kids. (Do the tweens even use pencils any more?)

I found another thread re fish extenders - check out post #81 in http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=6

You don't need to be able to sew to make one - some people even used paper craft bags. I just think a Secret Santa is just one more way to spread the "magic"!:wizard: :wizard:

Did I mention that I suffer from OCPD - Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder?!?!? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hello! We (OK, so it's just me at this point :rolleyes1 ) are thinking of booking the Double Dip. We've been on a 4 night and an Eastern and DH wants to try a Western but we love CC so I think this might be right up our alley. We have a 6 yo DS who would be 7 when we sail. He loved our last cruises and can't wait to spend all his time in the Lab. We are also DVC members, but it looks to me like a better deal to use our points to pass the time between now and the cruise at WDW and keep an eye out for deals on the cruise. Can I ask if folks used Dreams Unlimited to book? They seem to have a pretty good deal for the Cat 10. We were actually lucky enough to sail our last Eastern in a Cat 3 but there is no way I am spending the $$ for this trip so I figure as long as we have a bed we will be happy :) If anyone has any ideas on a good place to get a deal I am 'all ears'

Will post back if I can convince DH - wish me luck LOL :thumbsup2

Oh, you MUST book this one. We've been on a Western before (in a Cat 3) which we loved but same thing, there's no way we can afford that again (besides my MIL footed the bill). It took me some hard work as well but I think the 2 stops at CC finally convinced DH.

We used Dreams Unlimited and as a fellow Canadian, I can tell you that we have not had any problems in dealing with them.

So, please, please, come along - the more the merrier!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey Guys!

Dutchesmommy you must convince your DH to book! Our family DH(48),DD(8) and me (38) at time of cruise booked with Dreams Unlimited as well. We booked a category 12 (more money to spend on excursions and shopping) and our total was $2375.00 US. This is cheaper than our previous cruise and we get a $100.00 ship credit and the dollar is at a much better rate! We have convinced a couple of our friends to book the same cruise so we are hoping the kids will occupy eachother in the club and there will be more adult time!! I did not even get to see Serenity Bay Last time! I vow this will not happen again. Hope to meet you there!

Thanks, I'm sure we will. As for 2 cruises in one year, my mom is at a point in her life where she if she can do it she is going to. In her job(retired nurse and now a full time paramedic) she has watched too many people put off doing what they have wanted to do only to not be able to for various reasons. Right now she just wants to enjoy life to it's fullest and I can't say I blame her. I just feel lucky to be able to enjoy the time with her.

We booked this one while onboard last week. We did a western so this cruise will be the same but with CC instead of Key West (yeah!). I have been to Key West twice and have not enjoyed either visit. CC has been our favorite stop on both of our DCL cruises so we are looking forward to an extra day there. It's going to be a long wait! I have never cruised in November so I hope the weather is nice. I also wonder if there will be special excursions for the double dip.

lol. Yes the weather was fantastic! We also enjoyed the extra time in Cozumel. The only thing I didn't like was our cabins. We had 2638 and 2640. They were very noisy!!(engine or something) I do not recommend these to anyone. We booked 2 cat 8s on deck 7 for this cruise.

We had booked 2 cat 9s on deck 2 last year and we were upgraded to 2 balconies on deck 7. I guess we thought book the same cabins again and hope for the best lol. We aren't taking any chances for this one. ;) We were thinking of putting my mom in an inside cabin across the hall too. We haven't decided on that one yet.

I know 18 months. I don't even like to write or say that out loud. On the bright side we should be able to book for the new ships by then! ;)

Did you like the Eastern? We did the Eastern last year. I did miss the third sea day on the Western. With having CC instead of Key West I think we will be happier.

lol I'm pretty bad all on my own. I was already thinking "when will the fl res rates be out for the fall?" NCL is having a "kids sail free" thing going on for 3 & 4 nights. It would only cost me $1660 for all eight of us for 4 nights. I just don't know if it would be a disapointment not being disney. Any thoughts on NCL?? I have heard mixed things.

We really enjoyed the Eastern, especially St. Thomas and CC. I didn't think I'd enjoy the sea days, but they turned out to be both relaxing and lots of fun (not too mention the constant eating). Going through withdrawals now.

We've also done the 3-day Nassau before so we thought we'd try the Western. This one really sells itself with 2 stops at CC, which DH would be happy if he were left there all week. Totally agree about Key West. Been there done that. We just have to pull our DD out of school...

We're looking for a friend for our DD to hung out with. If anyone has a DD that is 6/7 at the time of the cruise, let me know!!!

We will be travelling with my BIL and his family which includes 2 DDs one who will be 9 and one who will have just turned 7. She will be in the group of 5 - 7 year olds by herself so it might be good if we can match them up. (My 2 DDs will be 9 and 4 so they will be in different groups as well).

It's loads of fun. Last time I went kinda low-tech and printed of pages that I put in a clear page protector that I had put a piece of magnetic tape on the back. I changed the pages everyday (and they will end up looking great in the scrapbook I hope to finish one day:rotfl: :rotfl: ). Oh, and I got some Mickey heads paint samples from Home Depot and cut them out and put magnets on the back of those too.

This time, I've got tons of clip art and borrowed designs from the DISigns forum and will print them onto magnetic paper. I've even come up with t-shirts for embarkation! Ahh, technology!!

If I knew how to post pictures or graphics, I'd be thrilled to show you some!!

Cheers,

Okay, I have been MIA for a while, but decided to check in. We are moving after finally selling our house   and I have been away from the computer. 12 years in one house brings a lot of stuff........ I have gone back and read the few pages I missed. IMHO, I think we should not decide about fish extenders until closer to the time, to get a better count. So far, the list Kris has going is HUGE and the gifts would need a seperate luggage, since there are soooo many of us. Are we forgetting the airline now says 1 bag per person????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: So maybe wait on this one....

The DIS tag is a good idea. My last cruise, one of our DISers did flamingos. They said, "you have been flamingoed" "now pass me on to another room" we did it to all not just DISers and it was fun. So I am all up for that.

As far as the NCL question, I do not have an answer. But what the heck, for that price, I would do it just for the exsperience and come back and let the rest of us know. That price is cheaper than the "booty cruise" (C people). So good cruiseline for great fare. Now just do not exspect the same kids programming, but for a quick get away, I would do it.:upsidedow

I finally found you all! We are booked (DH, DD8, DD5 and myself)!!! Deck 5 super dooper excited! My friend is on the Magic tomorrow out of LA and she showed me her fish extender. We've sailed twice before, but never did the FE. Is that in the works for everyone? Been working on the door magnets...had custom pillowcases done by someone on the disboards...love it! I think I could sail tomorrow since all I do is plan and prepare this trip!

I am planning spa services for myself and DH. This cruise is in celebration of our 10 year anniversary. We have sailed twice before on DCL and once on Princess for our honeymoon. I would love the cooking classes and towel folding...our DD's are really excited. Both have cruised before, but the youngest DD was in Flounders on our last sailing. Hoping to convince SIL and her fam to join us as they did before. Add us to the list!

Welcome, welcome sandiegosusie!! I too am obsessed with planning and it's over 17 months away.:rotfl2:

I plan on doing a FE this time around too so even if it's only the 2 of us, it'll still be fun!! I will be travelling with DH, DD who will turn 9 on 11/15 and DD4. My youngest DD was in Flounders last time we cruised too so I'm looking forward to even more grownup time. We convinced my BIL and his family to come along - they will have a DD9 and a DD7. Maybe we can hook our girls up??

We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary. I too have been working on my door magnets - how pathetic are we??:rotfl: :rotfl: But half the fun is in the planning.....

What are they? lol.
Where do they go?
Do you make them?

:offtopic: I booked a 4 night on the wonder for my youngest DD and oldest DS. We will justify this because the cruise is on 9/7 and DD's b-day is 9/12 and DS's is 7/18(a little late but, what the heck!). ;) I am going to try to surprise them with this and tell them they are going to the space center or something. So, I can not even think about the magic sailing in Sept. Thank you though for the offer! :offtopic:

I am going to try to make a couple of door magnets. I am not very creative so we will see how it goes.

DH and I just figured this out after doing an image search on google lol. It's a pocket organizer that hangs from the "fish" outside of your cabin door that people leave notes in. I also saw some for sale on ebay but, many people make them too. :)

People can sign up to do a fish extender exchange - meaning that you bring a little giftie to put in the participating FEs. I know that there's a link somewhere that listed things that people have brought (ie. postcards or little souvenirs from where you live, Disney trinkets (like from the Dollar Store) or just something that you think someone will enjoy).

Do not feel any pressure to participate!! We didn't do it the first time but I would like to do it this time 'cause my DDs are older and would like the surprise of it.

I know that I have instructions somewhere for a no-sew FE - when I find it I'll post it!!

Cheers!!

Just off the Magic today. Miss her already. Where is that darn sad icon?? Our 4 year old had a blast but sailing with our 20 month old was a bit challenging. Looking forward to her going to the Kids CLub for this one. We are in a cat 6 on deck 6. Did not get Palo ressies this time but I had an awesome pedicure in the spa. Welcome MaryAZ,
We travelled with our DD 18 mos. last time and yes, it was a bit of a challenge too. I got paged while we were at Palo that she was having a meltdown in Flounders so I raced down there and then had another mother peek in the door so she wouldn't see me :rotfl2: . By that time she had settled back down so I raced back upstairs to finish off my Cosmopolitan - in our picture I'm looking a little flushed!! I am so looking forward to her going to the Club (she'll be 4 at the time of sailing).

Can't wait!!

Drinking and laughing are always good!!

The door magnets are one way of identifying yourself as a DISer and also another easy way of finding your door.

I'm making a bunch. My BIL and his family are travelling with us so I'm making them some too. Things like First Family Cruise, pirate mickey heads, etc.

Check out this thread and you'll see the kind of stuff that people put on their doors.

Someone had asked about posting pictures... You want to upload the pictures to Photobucket or some similar program (I've found photobucket easiest to use).

For Photobucket, once the pictures are in, you can resize them and one of the options is for messageboards. :) After you've saved the resize, click once in the field behind "IMG Code" - this copies the code needed. Then, in your message here on the Dis, just right click and paste:

http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee133/mrp4352/100_3134.jpg

Voila!! Picture in your post!

Hi everyone! This is our second attempt at our first Disney cruise. About a year ago, I was putting together a cruise for November 2008. But, my husband has a genetic kidney disease and was going into kidney failure, so we put it off.

The good news is that he had a kidney transplant on May 7, 2008 and is doing well. So we are now booked on the 11/14/09 Western double dip in cat 3 room 8086! We decided that after what our family has gone through in the past few years, we needed a blow-out family vacation to just have FUN together again. We'll actually be arriving in Orlando on 11/4 and spending 10 days at Disneyworld/Universal Studios/Seaworld before we go cruising.

Our girls will be 11 and 8 on the trip. We're telling them about the land portion of the trip, but keeping the cruise a surprise. I can't wait to see their faces as we pull up to the ship and they figure out what is going on!

I'm so looking forward to sailing with all of you. It will be fun to share this with a terrific group of people!

Glad to hear that your DH is on the road to recovery and it was obviously meant to be that you would join all of us on this great Double Dip!!

We stayed in a Cat 3 last time and it was totally AWESOME!! The concierge team of Jonathan and Jennifer made our trip that much more magical.

It will be great getting to know you and your family over the next 16 months!!

Welcome! I have poly cystic kidney disease but, I'm not symptomatic yet. My father had a transplant 16 yrs ago and is doing fairly well. (he's well into his 70's now). I'm glad that your DH is doing well and that he did not have to wait that long for a kidney. That is encouraging. I think you will really enjoy your DCL cruise.

Hi Mary.

Yes, that is what my DH has. His only problem up until a few years ago was high blood pressure. Then his kidneys started failing in his early 40s. It was really rough for him because he had really bad anemia, one of the side effects of PKD. He started dialysis last November and was blessed to only have to be on it for 6 months before he transplanted.

The story of finding our living donor is pretty amazing. DH was approved for transplant last October. At choir rehearsal, I asked the choir to pray that the Lord would send a living donor for DH. One of the women in choir read that and heard a voice telling her "You are the donor. Go get tested". Sure enough, she was a match.

That's really great that your dad's kidney has lasted 16 years. I hope he has many more years with it, and that you stay symptom-free for a long time. :goodvibes

Can't wait to meet you in person!

Hi everyone-
We finally committed to a date! Yeah! My DH and I wanted to go on DCL in 1999 for our Honeymoon, but it was only 3 & 4 day cruises, so we did Beach Club instead. Then you know how it goes, buying a house, babies, toddlers...
We always said we'd be going on a Disney Cruise for our 10th anniversary. Our kids would finally be potty trained and willing to leave us and go to the kids club.

So here we are! We are very excited to join you all. I'm leaving in 19 days for our first trip to DL, but I'm planning our cruise instead. (most of the stuff for DL is already done, so we are just waiting for the day). We chose the DD because we love all things Disney and this one gives us more Disney than the others. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning from you all about the DCL experience (including the fish extender thing). This is our first cruise and we are super excited. I'm like an earlier poster, I'm already trying to figure out which excursions and reservations I need to make. My DH thinks I'm crazy, it's like 18mos away. I say, never too early!

At the time of the cruise, I will be turning 39. My DH will be 42, my DS 9 and my DD 5!

Welcome, welcome!!
It's actually only 16 months - so you've already lost 2 months:scared1: :scared1: !! Just kidding, don't worry many of us here suffer from OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder) - which is not a bad thing!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

There are lots of other kids going in the same age group (my DD and my niece will both be 9) and my other DD will be 4 and my other niece will be 7. So, I'm sure they'll all have a great time.

Have a great trip to DL!

Cool! In Photobucket, resize it for Message boards. After you save it, there will be several options with code next to it - select the one called IMG code. If you click in the field right behind where it says IMG code, then your computer will automatically copy the link for you. Then, just paste it into your message here on the DisBoards!

Hope this works for you!

It's our anniversary cruise too! Welcome...always nice to hear of other cruise addicts! Have a great time at DL. We live about 50 minutes away, door to parking structure. We will be going in August and staying overnight at the hotel. My friend is coming from NJ and we are taking our 3 year-olds. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Anyone know how to resize the logo? I can't read the little thing...

It's kind of a roundabout way, but this is what I did. I went to the photobucket website, www.photobucket.com, and did a search for binky1_photos. Then click on the link to go to the user's album. Once there, click on the logo and it will come up big enough to read.

The heading says "Double Dip Delight November 14, 2009". The bottom line reads "because there is no such thing as too much castaway cay!"

Saw this today, I don't know if the tipping calculator we use has been updated:
============
Disney Cruise Line has modified the recommended tipping guidelines for any Disney Cruise sailing beginning July 13, 2008:

Voyage Length
7-night
Dining Room Server $28
Asst. Dining Room Server $21
Dining Room Head Server $7
Stateroom Host / Hostess $28
TOTALS PER GUEST $84

The 15% gratuity added to bar, beverage, wine and deck service remains the same.

I was thinking--maybe we can book for the new ships by 11/09!

It's a sickness really. ::yes:: DH and I went on our 1st cruise for our 10th verse-T(as I call them). That was in 2004 and I have been on 9 cruises with 3more booked.

Just when I think 3 DCL cruises will be enough they go and make 2 new ships! I hope they have new shows. We love DCL and any excuse to cruise again is fine with us.

Hey mousemom11,
Which Cat 3 are you sailing in? We snagged a Cat 3 last time (8522) - and you are going to love it!! Yes, we especially liked getting the hot breakfasts too. It really helped alot because my DD was 18 mos at the time and I didn't have to rush everyone out the door to get to the food....

Jonathan and Joanne (our concierge team) were FANTASTIC!! They dropped off little goodies every day and were constantly checking if we needed anything. We were travelling with my MIL and it really helped in Grand Cayman when they told us just to let them know when we wanted to go ashore and they would hold a tender for us. So we just left the stateroom and walked right down and onto the boat - no waiting - it was totally awesome.

Hi binky.

We're in 8086, which is aft on the port side. There were only 2 cat 3's left for this sailing when I booked in May. I was hoping for one amidship, but once I realized that we were right near the stairs to come out at Topsiders with the drink station and ice cream station , I was perfectly fine with it.

It will be SO nice to have the extra touches of relaxed breakfast and tender boarding. Plus, I'm going to make Palo ressies in advance, but if they conflict with our dining rotation, it's nice to know that the concierge staff can get us in on a different night.

After going commando at WDW for 10 days right before the cruise, we're planning to kick back and RELAX :beach:

I was on the DCL website today and noticed that the first day we are in Castaway Cay we are only there until 2:30 p.m. - the other double dips stay until 5:00 p.m.

I think it's because we get into Grand Cayman at 7:45 a.m. and the other DD doesn't get there until 11 a.m.

Anybody have any thoughts/opinions/ideas about this?

Thanks and have a great day!!

My Sept 27, 2008 cruise (the one we got the logo from) has the same itinerary. I think the shortened first day at CC is so we have a decent amount of time at GC.

Disney might think that since we have a second day at CC that we would rather have the extra time in GC since we are only there one day. I have been to both many times and for me it's all good. They are both beautiful.

2:30 seems really early to be leaving...does that mean we have to be back on the ship by then or we are actually pulling away from the dock? I would much rather spend less time at Key West. We are only planning two hours or so off the ship at KW. I would much rather relax on CC!!:cloud9:

I just looked at the itinerary on my reservation form that I got from my TA on 5/2/08. According to that, we are at CC from 8:30 - 3, then GC from 8:30 - 4:30, and Cozumel from 9:30 - 6:30. The itinerary that is on the DCL website applies to both the 9/27/08 and the 11/14/09 cruises. Maybe DCL made some adjustments to the 11/09 cruise times. I'm not sure which one is correct right now.

We'll need to make sure that we get an accurate schedule b4 the 105 day window opens in 8/09.

Oh, and from how our 9/27/08 double dip booked up for Palo, etc, I strongly suggest cruising in concierge or booking the REAS package. Nothing was left for the newbies to book as far as Palo brunch or tea. Some excursions had closed, and the couples massage and Rasul package were very full. At 90 days, there weren't a lot of options, either.

Sorry for the bad news, but at least you know with enough time to budget, huh?

From personal experience with this next double dip cruise, DON'T plan for the ports. :rotfl: Wait until right before the 105 day scheduling window opens to plan your excursions and such. A bonus of that is you can dream of excursions from all the ports, so if the boat somehow ends up somewhere unexpected, you'll be on top of things! Keep on chugging!

When I recycle the website for this cruise, I'll leave the Costa Maya links. :rotfl: We have Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay links for research.

I've booked this awhile ago, but am just now subscribing to the thread. WOW-I have alot to catch up on. Still doing some last minute preps for my other 2 upcoming cruises. I believe this will be my 9th DCL cruise. I'll have to double check. I will also be joined by:
DH-Ray
DS-10 Michael
DS-7 Zachary
DS-5 Christopher
and my best friend Debbie.

We did the double dip last time back in 2006. We didn't stop at Cayman Islands due to hurricane damage back then. We stopped at Costa Maya. We've done the Western itinerary a couple of times. Last time we had to tender into Cozumel because of the port damage from the hurricane. That took alot of time. Glad we don't have to this time. We love the 2 stops at CC. We spend the 1st stop with the boys on the family beach. The last stop we let them go with the kids program so we can unwind at Serenity Bay. We usually need it by then.:) This way we don't feel too guilty for not spending much time with them on CC.

We would like to participate in the FE exchange if there's a list already. After the October cruise I can start focusing on door magnets and such for this one.

I'll check in soon.

Anyway, it's getting closer to the sail date.... 15 Months.... LOL

I don't believe they can retroactively apply charges to booked cruises. They haven't been able to do so legally yet. Even port fees haven't been applied to me.

Just stopping by to say hi. I haven't checked in for awhile. I just got the 2008 Disney cruise passporter so I'm starting to really get into it.:yay:

Hi Guys, just poping in to say hi. I just was wondering if Kris was still the keeper of the list. How many families are we up to now? Maybe someone can keep a running list on one of the first pages just with all of our screennames for now so that we can have a running count.:thumbsup2

Oh, I see it is on page 4, but has it been updated recently. I think we are way over that now......

Well, the website will be getting recycled in about 1-2 months... would that work for you?

I knew I'd been doing too much Disney boards and research when I watched the Olympics and automatically thought the Olympic rings looked like a DOUBLE MICKEY HEAD! I think I need to lay off a while. there's still 15 months left to go!:happytv:

So many posts, this is nothing like what we had going on my last cruise. I'm looking forward to actually having a DIS meet this time. (Previously there was no real interest)

I keep day dreaming that I am going this year then I have to remember that I'm not!

Hey everyone!

We're going to put down a deposit on this cruise today!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!! We were lucky enough to do our first Disney cruise in April of this year. Before that time we figured we didn't really want to cruise... but we won that one so we went. Well, let's just say DH and and I got TOTALLY bit by the cruise bug. Didn't think we'd be able to do another one anytime soon but DH figured out the financing and we're set!!!

Okay... now for the intros. I'm Hypermommy and I definitely live up to the name. DH is King Charming (Prince would be a demotion) and he's simply wonderful!!! (hey... he got me on Mickey's boat again so that earns LOTS of hubby points in my book). We also have two sons who will be 16 and 14 at the time of the cruise. They go by various names.... Eating Machine #1 and #2, Heir and Spare (not sure which is which yet), PITA #1 and #2... it really just depends on how I feel at the time :-) We live in North Florida. Anyone else from this area?

We had a very active thread for our previous cruise. In fact, it's still getting occasional new messages becuase some real friendships were made in the time leading up to the cruise. We had a wonderful DISMeet the first day of the cruise and a fantastic time throughout the cruise. It was like being in a small town where you knew a lot of people becuase we were always running into someone from the thread. The fact that this is such an active thread is one of the reasons we decided on this cruise... that and the double dip.

Okay, I guess that's enough rambling for now. I'll be "seein'" y'all again in a while.

Welcome, welcome Hypermommy and crew!!
Yes, we have a bunch of OCPDers on this cruise - myself included (Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder) - so it should be loads of fun!!

FIZZGIG is going on the September Double Dip (lucky duck) as well and has a website that they are going to recycle for our cruise. So we'll get a fish extender list started and start planning (my favourite word) some other stuff!!

Cheers!

Suh-weeet!!!! Can't wait to see the website. And glad to know we're going to the FE thing! That was really fun seeing what was in those every time we came back to the room.

Ahhhhh... found my Castaway Club CD this morning and that's what's on in the office. I forgot how much fun the prospect of a cruise makes everything... even work! :rotfl2:

Oh... one more thing. I was just thinking (dangerous sometimes). I'm not trying to come in and take over or anything but I was just wondering... do we have a name for our cruise yet? I know Disney's calling it the Special Western but, like, the last cruise we called it the April Showers of Happiness cruise. So I'm just wondering if our cruise has a name yet.

I don't think there is a name yet. We're using the same Double Dip Delight log as the Sept'09 cruise - they graciously changed the info for us.

If you want to come up with a name, I say GO FOR IT!!

Cheers,

I would appreciate staying with "Double Dip Delight," but that's because it would be less work for me, with regards to recycling the website. :)

Hi everyone, my name is Tara. I'm new to posting to these boards but have been addicted to reading posts for the last month. We will be on the cruise with you and can't wait to plan and chat for the next year. Gosh that sounds sick!!

My son will be just turning 5 when we cruise. We have a huge group going but the only ones I'm really close close to are my inlaws and my husbands best friend and his wife(they will marry on the ship!!) they also have kids dd 3 1/2 and dd 10.

Hypermommy So excited that you are joining us- Feel like I already "know you" thru yours and King CHarming's TRs.
We booked on our first DCL trip to Mexico in May. Had a great group of Disers there "Swanky Suite Swillers'
I have been reading all the Pre Trip reports for the double dips coming up-so exciing.
I think we should do "Secret Mickeys" if people are interested-like Secret Santas.
Just waiting on my Passporter and um of course the year or so we have to go.

I had time to check the link in your sig... ya went and got a domain name for it even?!?! Wow!!! Totally understood wanting to keep things the way they are. Suggestion: everything in the background (domain name, any database activity, any of that) stays disdoubledip.com. But just the title on the page ... just the part that's visible to us humans, maybe that could be "Double Dip '09"?

BTW... I'm a programmer so if you want some help just holler.

Not sure if I know how Secret Santas work.. you mean for this year? Is that where you draw the name or something?

MaryAz, you poor thing... you have to put up with me and KC again! Well, maybe I've calmed down some in the months since the cruise......... nah!!!

Hello all, thought I'd check in. We have a cabin number so I guess it's official, yous guys are stuck with us :cool1: .
Looks like I've found a new hobby, cruising and writting about it. I wrote both a pre and trip report about April Happiness, and will probably do it again. Please consider writing a TR, we had five posted about ours and it was cool to read about our cruise (and be mentioned in them) from another perspective.
I won't be posting often (but lurking) as I'm sure Hyperwife will more than make up for it. Let the good times roll...

Yep... we have a red-headed boy. I never believed in the whole "red headed temperment" thing, but then God laughed at me and gifted me with this boy! He has three moods.... happy, angry and sad. And believe you me, there's no middle ground! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey there, KC.... nah, you know you'll post on here now and again. You have to. You want to be voted most popular dude on the ship again, don't you? :rotfl2: For those that didn't read his post-trippie last time, he was chatting with a guy that had done several cruises and that was our first. However, it was KC that folks kept coming up and saying hi to and the several-cruises-guy just couldn't figure out how KC knew so many people. So KC started yanking his chain about an election that had been held for most popular passenger that he'd won. It was actually all the DISsers that we knew from here and KC did let several-cruises-guy off the hook after a while, but it sounds like it was fun to yank his chain.

Okay, so yeah, we're somewhat sarcastic. In fact, I keep telling people that I'm not a nice person but they just don't seem to believe me. :rotfl2:

Okay, woot! It's Saturday! That means a number is about to change. Right now it's 63 weeks until the cruise but soon it'll be 62 weeks and 6 days!!!!!

Hey... I was just thinking (uh oh, there she goes again). We need a graphic for our cruise. That way, if we want to we can put it on our magnets, t-shirts, whatever we want to make for the cruise. I think we've agreed to go with the Double Dip Delight (and we'll leave it up to Fizzgig as to whether the '09 can be added.. depends on how hard it is on the back end). I'd be more than willing to develop a graphic. You can see examples of the kind of work I do on my blog.

So... if you're interested in a graphic how about toss out some ideas of what should be included in it? My ideas are that it should somehow represent "double" (i.e.... maybe a mirror images type of thing or something... I dunno). Double dip sounds to me like sticking your toes in the water twice.

Anyway... what'dya think? I'm going to get more coffee becuase I think I need it ;-)

Erik already altered the logo for someone to make it an '09. I will put the new version in my .sig when I get off the boat in a little over a month. :)

I think the new version of the logo is posted on this thread a few pages back.

The website disdoubledip has forums, links, PMs, private Kid's Area with parental supervision, etc. It will take me a bit to clean the old content, and then everyone can sign up and we'll go again.

I would like a new banner for that website. I haven't installed Photoshop back on this machine after my last rebuild, so I'm being lazy... or just busy packing for this upcoming trip... yeah, that's it... :rotfl: Judging by how little of my carpet is currently showing through the kids toys, I must be packing the whole house!

OH! And if you'd like, we need a new slogan! "Because just one day isn't enough!" is the current slogan on the logo.

welcome hypermommy! This is our first cruise, but I am ready to set sail with you all. You guys are making me so excited I can't sleep. I'm already thinking about fe's and what we're going to wear on pirate night and of course all the pictures I have to take for my scrapbook! Sigh, we're still over a year away, huh?

Hypermommy

Fizzgig -- your site sounds fantastic!!!! I love the idea of the kids having someplace safe to go to get to know each other. Even though mine are 14 and 12 (just about to be 15/13) I'm still a bit overprotective on the net.

Let me find the logo and I'll see what I can do with a banner. If you'd rather do it, just let me know.

Hmmmm.... a slogan, huh? Lemme see if I can think of something rather disneylicious and I'll throw it out for the group to consider.

mommyarewegoingback... love your nick!!!! So what kind of scrapping do you do? Don't forget to scrap your preparations. I only got one prep picture last time (the "advent calendar" I did on the sliding glass door with mickey head paint chips from Home Depot). I'm going to do so much more than that this time, I hope. If I can ever finish the book from the last trip.

It's the King!! Loved ur TR's. I did a pre one for our Mexican Cruise and started a post. Got side tracked with life. I will do both next time.
Can someone help me with a siggy on here. My 2 year old is OBSESSED with the "dancing nana" and I want to put it and a cruise counter on. Thanks
I want shirts with logos, magnets etc. I want it all!! I told Dh we needed a new FE so we could switch out. He said "well maybe you should just get 6 so you can have one for everyday" HA-should not have said that-even in jest. Off to ebay!!

Hypermommy

I don't know if you can do the "dancing nana" in a sig. I don't know if the smilies are available then. For a sig, just click on User CP and you'll see one of the links on the left says something about a signature. For the counter, just click (right click so you can get it in a new window) on mine and it'll take you to www.********************. You choose your background, your counter (like mine's the ship) and the date your leaving and a couple of things. Then it'll create the code for you and you just cut and paste it into your signature file. This is when it's helpful to have two browser windows open

LOL... Mary, you sound just like me!!!!! You'd think the hubby would have learned to be careful what he teases about, huh? Lawd knows KC sure has!

Hypermommy

I was wrong... I just had to modify my sig and I see that they do have the dancin' nana. Just let me know if you have any questions.
