Room close to elevator

We got upgraded from a cat 6 to a 5. We are near an elevator on the 7th floor. Is this good or bad?

I'm thrilled about the free upgrade by the way....please don't think I'm not grateful....

We have stayed on deck 8 in rooms right next to the midship elevators and the location was terrific. No noise and very convenient location. Congratulations on the upgrade.

OK This time I'll ask the question everyone wants the answer to.

How did you get an upgrade? I thought you didn't find out you got an upgrade till when you were boarding, and then I hear they're very rare.

It would be a nice added touch.

I'll second howardk613 in saying that rooms near the elevator are great. We stayed in 7106 once, and thought it was very convenient to the elevators/stairs. I don't ever remember hearing any noise attributable to the elevator lobby.

We made our reservation a couple of weeks ago for April thru a local travel agent. We were told we were guaranteed a cat 6, but we could be ugraded. When I checked reservations at the Disney Web site last night, I saw that we had been assigned a cat 5 room.
