Slow Cooker/Crock Pot ... LOW Setting takes too long!

OK ... I just put in a brisket into my slow cooker and the recipe says that I should cook it for 8 hours. Well ... I would be eating at 11! How long would it take on HIGH instead? Should I put it on high until it's tender and then turn it down to low? :confused3

I thought it was pretty much 1/2 the time for cooking on high versus cooking on low. But I'm not completely sure.

Thanks! I meant to come back and update this. It took about 5 hours, so a bit longer than half the cooking time.
