Baby, it's cold out there .... 30 farenheight (sp?)
Wow, that is cold! We've been in the 70s here!
Had nigtmare last night that I missed the plane to Orlando- twice! :rotfl2: Okay I truly think that I have it all under control here.
I've had a similar dream twice! Hope they don't come true!
We're leaving tomorrow morning to drive to Dallas and are flying out Tuesday morning. By 1PM Eastern on Tuesday I should be waiting for the ME bus!:banana::banana:
See you all soon!!!!

All Christmas decor went up about 2 weeks ago! Been tanning, cleaned the house today, wrapped some presents, suitcase out, trying to get a bit ahead at work. I'll try to pull out some clothes tonight. No dreams yet, last time I flew we had to make an emergency landing and I got to use the evacuation slides, don't want to repeat that ever again. Not a big fan of flying but that won't stop me!! Leave Wednesday morning! Can't wait!! :santa:

33 and light rain here. Of course. That's because we are planning on going to cut down our Christmas tree later this morning. We haven't had rain in ages but NOW it rains. :sad2:
On Friday, I was in Northern Ontario doing an inspection. It was snowing!:scared1: Can't wait to be heading south on Thursday's flight.
Just had a new security system installed at the house on Wednesday (about time!)to cover while we're away. It's one of those voice activated ones and the neighbours, who are very good sentinels and work from home, will be on guard as well :) (They even did Tortola sailing last winter and loved it!) I think we're all covered around here.

I just wanted to be the one to make the 2,000th post to our thread!:yay:
I was good today. I took the $25 cut your own Scotch pine tree instead of the $95 precut balsam fir that was gorgeous. I know I spent $25, but I feel like I saved $70!
That's a great deal on the tree! :cool1:

I am trying to pack 2 suitcases for the cruise and 2 for our pre-trip stay at WDW. I was hoping to just 'store' the cruise luggage and not have to open it at all. However, I am wondering if that will be a disaster for all of our hanging clothes. We have them in a rolling hanging bag that folds in half. Does anyone know if we can leave it that way for 5 days? Or do we need to unpack and repack it?
My goal is to finish packing tonight except for carryons. That will leave last minute carryon packing tomorrow night for our early flight Tuesday morning.
We got each child a disposal camera today for their use on the trip. We also snuck a couple of new books into their carryons for the plane ride. I am mostly packed, but I have to go finish now....
Happy travels to everyone!

Found this (on another forum) for those of you doing the baths on your own... hope it helps
OK From start to finish:
From the ship you should be able to actually see the ferry dock. It's about a 10-15 minute walk BUT allow at least 20 minutes.
Facing the shore, the ferry dock is your left. There should be a tourism booth at the dock, is there is just ask them to point you in the right direction.
When you get to the ferry dock, you may be able to buy a ticket with an add-on for the taxi to the Baths - if you can do this - it will save you a buck or two. I do NOT recommend buying the package that includes lunch because you don't have a lot of time.
BE VERY SURE TO KEEP your ticket in a safe place, you need it for the return. If they give you a separate taxi slip, also keep it - since they usually don't collect them until the RETURN taxi.
MAKE VERY SURE that you understand the return ferry schedule.
The ferry ride will take approx 30-40 minutes. There are washrooms on the ferry. Bring lots of water for Virgin Gorda.
Once the ferry docks at VG, you will see open-air jitney style bus-taxis. These are
the "taxis" that you take to The Baths - just buy a ticket OR show the driver your taxi-ticket (if you bought it from the ferry people) and board - remember DON"T give it to the driver - you need it for your return "taxi" ride. Once your "taxi" is full (it won't take long), the driver will leave for The Baths. The ride is short - about 5 minutes.
You will be dropped at The Top of The Baths parking lot where you will see a restaurant and shops. There will be signs indicating where the trail down to The Baths starts. I have not been there since the admission fee to The Baths was imposed (but I am glad they did this - it's not a lot and it helps to keep the place up) - so I don't know where you pay that.
The trail goes downhill and is not difficult but I strongly suggest wearing decent footwear (like sneakers or sports sandals). Do not wear slippy flat soled sandals - since there are one or two spots that can be a little slidely.
At the bottom of the trail (takes about 15 minutes), there will be a beach bar and restaurant with lockers to your right (facing the ocean) and the entrance to The actual rock formation of The Baths will be to your left (very obvious). There is a nice small beach here. If you have water socks change into them before you go into The Baths.
The trail THROUGH the Baths (not rushing) takes about 20 minutes but allow at least 30-45 minutes to appreciate the Baths.
Once you make it through the Baths there will be more large rocks and then another beach (Devil's Bay) - larger than the first one - good snorkeling but it can be rough.
To get back to The Top of The Baths you have TWO choices because there are TWO trails that lead back up to the parking lot from Devil's Bay.
1. you can go back the way you came (back through The Baths and then up the hill). This is the best choice for the directionally challenged.
2. there is a trail that leads back to the parking lot directly from Devil's Bay. It is easier than going back through The Baths BUT it is a little longer and not well marked. It will take you to the other side of the parking lot.
My recommendation - IF you did not find the Baths hard to get through and you are directionally challenged - go back the way you came. If you found the Baths a little challenging, take the alternate route. In either case allow PLENTY of time to get back to the parking lot - at least 30 minutes.
The jitney-taxis will leave about 10-15 minutes before the ferry departure time. Just show the driver your taxi ticket. As long as you are back at the VG ferry docks a few minutes before departure time, you will be OK. The ferries are often a little late leaving but DON"T COUNT ON THAT.
E.G. 1PM ferry departure time - make sure you are in the Top of The Baths parking lot NO LATER than 12:45.
Good Luck - we have done this a number of times and it really is not hard - just be aware of times.

What's packing? I need to get started on that today as DH is out of town all week and I've got to run the Holiday Shoppe at my son's school all week. We had planned to put up the tree yesterday but it didn't happen. DH is headed into work this afternoon for a few hours so I doubt that will happen today either. We might be putting it up when we get back. We leave Friday afternoon but I would love to be ready way before then. Need to finish my FE's too! Busy, busy week!!

We are planning to send out our dress clothes & my capri pants to be ironed. It was 1/2 price of the dry cleaning. I can't remember the price though. It WAS my sanity saver. I will be doing it again. I will unpack once we get to our cabin (provided our luggage is there) and send everything out before the muster drill.
We also got the kids disposable cameras. Our camera is MIA:eek:

Yep - most of our PTA board doesn't agree with the shop at all and it's something that the Principal had asked for when he first came to our school two years ago. I did last year's by myself with some help from the office staff and teacher assistants. This year, the fifth graders have helped and a couple of parents who love it. It's going great - we close Thursday at lunch time. I'd rather be busy, then wishing the days would go by until we leave for Disney!

Anyone else having nightmares they forgot something?
I usually am ready to go a month before vacation but this trip I really just don't want to pack, same thing happened to me in July, I usually have a giant journal with all of the info I need and phone numbers etc.... even print out my personal itenerary but this time, nothing:guilty: I just wonder why I am just not into this vacation... I think it might be because I am miserable, don't really want to carry my donut around the ship :scared:

Not of forgetting something, but that any one person may not be healthy enough! DS8 was wailing last night with an earache. DM gave him tylenol and let him sleep in our bed with me, while she slept with DD6. (Later DS2.75 joined the gals at 4AM).
During the night, DS8 would moan a bit, getting me more and more worried about plane pressure affecting him. Thank God he was fine this AM!:cool1:

So glad he is feeling better this morning.
I have been on my boys about making sure they wash their hands constantly last week and they have been really good about doing too, it might of helped that I told them that if they were to get sick they wouldn't be able to get on the ship:scared1:

She is Type II diabetic.
She was dead weight & they ~ the paramedics were afraid she fractured a hip when they arrived on Sat am.
Thanks for ALL the concerns, prayers & kind words. It's so hard when I can not be there in person to help with her care. She is with me part time and with another sister part time. She is scheduled to be back at my house on 13 Dec.

I hope everyone already in WDW is having a great time. To those leaving soon, have safe fun trip and see you onboard!

Made it to Dallas earlier today. Trying to wind the kids down but we are all just too excited! In 12 hours, we'll be getting ready to fly out as we take off at 7:50 central tomorrow morning. We have a layover/change of planes in New Orleans and are scheduled to land in Orlando at 12:55. After months and months of planning, I can't believe it's already here.

I think I am more excited than our kids are! I have everything packed and by the front door (including the FE gifts, lanyards and badge holders), except for DH's carryon - that's the only thing he packs. The kids are freshly bathed and in bed (notice I didn't say sleeping), the cab is all scheduled to pick us up at 5:20am for our 7:20 flight. All of our travel docs are printed out and in my carryon.... This is sounded a bit like the night before Christmas....
The only complaint I have is regarding ME. They only sent us FOUR luggage tags. We are only staying four nights on property before the cruise, so I am assuming it is because they figure we won't need as much luggage for only 4 nights. I wish I had counted them earlier so I could ask for more. Lesson learned!!!
I am going to unwind in front of the TV for a bit before heading off to sleep. Happy travels everyone! See you Saturday. Remember, Fluvanna and I will be at the port by 11am with lanyards and badges for the first 100 people on the roll call (and just badges for others who arranged it with Fluvanna). We will try to hang out near the model of the ship.

I know that feeling. Walking home one morning after taking the kids to school. A car with 3 women pulls into a driveway, picking up another woman. One of the gals opens the car door briefly to get their friend and in those few seconds, enough perfume 'Odor' gets out to reach me all the way out on the sidewalk!
Wonder if her friends had the courage to tell her to go 'scent free' next time.

Thanks, I knew it was destined to happen just really wish it wasn't right now, being a Children's Services Librarian I get all the little sick ones that come in with their parents because they can't go to school :confused3, so their parents drag them in to read while they surf the net :confused3
I shouldn't be here to spread my germs either but with being gone all next week I don't really have a choice. Since we are open until 7 I am going to try to finish this book order so I won't have to come in tomorrow and I got my sister to pick the boys up from school and they are going to have sleep over to make sure I don't get them sick too.

I'm curious if anyone has every had a fish extender stolen before. I meant to post this earlier but it's insane in my house. I've had magnets stolen in the past and I've asked DH if there was a way he could secure ours. I suspect mine may grow legs and walk off. When you see it you'll understand why.

This was discussed on the FE board. If you secure it with a cable tie to the fish it shouldn't walk away. Also, since it is personalized, I would think it would be less likely to go anywhere. Make sure you bring something in your luggage to cut the ziptie at the end of the cruise. We just got ours. Will need post a picture soon as I can upload the pictures.

Rosemary, we've never had our FE stolen. We use a plastic zip tie to tie it to the fish and just cut the plastic tie when we are taking it down. We too have had a couple magnets stolen. Last time I printed out address label sized stickers with our last name on them, put it on the back of each magnet and not one went wandering. On our 2nd cruise we had a Tink magnet stolen and then a couple cruises ago we had our DVC members magnets stolen. I heard someone bump against our door about 2 AM and looked in the hall to see 3 inebriated guys in their early 20's stumbling down the hall. I noticed our DVC magnets were gone (our stateroom host had put 2 like Mickey ears with the circular door number). The next day we were walking by one of the rooms on our deck and they must have had about 40 DVC magnets. I think those guys cleared out the entire deck and put them all on one door. We never took them back because I didn't want someone to see us doing it and think we were stealing them!!

Figures....4 days from the cruise and my DW has a cold and an upper respitory infection.....she went to the doctor and he gave her a couple of perscriptions....says she will not feel better at least until Saturday or Sunday...
I wonder if they would ever not let someone board the ship if they had a cold?
She started popping the medicine already so lets hope....no....I will pray she feels better!

Tom,
Provided it's not contagious, do not even breathe any mention of her not feeling well, or they definitely will not let you on. I imagine that the meds will start working and by Friday she'll feel better, and even moreso by Saturday. Make sure she gets a lot of rest, then, get her more rest again. To be sure, give her more rest. You are now the gopher, official packer and chief maid and bottle washer. Don't worry, its only temporary and you'll be spoiled directly after getting aboard. Once aboard, head over to your stateroom and let her rest again until the mandatory muster call. Then let her rest again.
By Sunday, she'll be able to do the limbo on deck! :)

[Inkmahm; The suitcases are out and ready to pack! Good thing since we leave in 24 hours. :rotfl: Just updated our seats to business class on Airtran so we get free suitcases. The plan is still to take only one each and then an empty carryon for the stuff we always end up buying while we are there
Careful with Airtran. Last time we flew them we did the upgrade from MPLS, w/one stop in Atlanta. When we got to ATL. We either had to move or pay another $75 EA. They considered it two different flights...we moved and wrote a nasty letter to mngmt. which they ignored of course...
It's always per leg when you upgrade and they price accordingly. We book non-stop as I hate layovers. For us, it's $69 if we pay cash or 4 A+ rewards each to upgrade. This trip, we used the rewards.
I'm packed! DH is still working on it. We are bringing 3 suitcases and a carryon for 2 people. Those darn extra shoes and clothes for Palo, plus we don't want to have to do any laundry. Not to mention the extra empty space to hold all the stuff we'll likely buy on the trip. :upsidedow
We leave home in 7 hours!:cool1:

For the most part we are all ready to go. Its just finishing up the last minute packing and tagging all the fish extender gifts tonight. Tomorrow we have the DD Santa Shoppe and then packing the car. This is the first time we might actually be ahead of schedule.
We are pulling out Friday morning hopefully around 6:00 AM. It's our first trip to Florida in the new car so lets hope for good gas mileage. Won't be as good as our previous car. DH hates the drive, but I look at it as we always forget something and there are plenty of outlet malls along the way for stuff like that.
Have a safe trip and I'll see ya all at Port! Three more days till!!!

My sister called me and told me that my youngest went straight to lay down to watch tv in her guest room which he never watches tv when they got home from school......... needless to say I loaded him up on vitamin c and sent him straight to bed when they got here..... Mommy of Twin Infants, I hope you all feel better quickly. Hopefully Disney is the Rx you need! I can empathize about the sick family members. It happens in our extended family too and I think it's incredibly rude to do to people. One year I asked about an oozing eye at a family party and was told it was allergies. Two days later we all had pink eye. Seems like someone in that family is always sick at family parties and spreads it around. I am not talking about a cold but fevers, strep, flu, etc. I guess we all have them in the family! I just make sure to Lysol everything and keep my kids away if we have them over!!
To everyone traveling in the next few days, have a safe trip. We'll be at AKV this time tomorrow!!!

We just got settled in to AKV. Our flight was delayed and we didn't get to Jambo House until almost 11:00. For some reason we didn't have a parking pass ready and when we checked in, the guest services CM went to take us to the 6th floor and our cards weren't working. We had to wait about 15 minutes and she brought us in the elevator again. Second set still didn't work. We decided to get something to eat since the Mara was closing in 10 minutes and come back and hope the cards were working. The CM said she would be there. We got back and she was gone so Derek waited in line and we finally got cards that worked--over an hour later. We're here though and that's what counts!! We will probably go to the MK tomorrow morning and are eating at Whispering Canyon for dinner. We may go to DHS in the evening to see the Osborne lights or go to Epcot for EMH. We are excited to be here but can't wait to be on the Magic more than anything!!!

I found the shirt right where Fluvanna said it would be outside of the Buzz Lightyear ride. Unfortunately, the biggest size they had was a large. I had the guy at the cart go to storage and check the stock but no luck. I was just going to suggest that I think I've seen that same shirt at the shop across from Midway Mania at the studios. We won't be there until at least Sat morning though so for now, I'll assume you'll be looking for the shirt tomorrow.
If none of us can get one, Fluvanna can always order one direct from Disney to be delivered to her. That would add shipping charges though so it would be nice if one of us could find it in the parks. By the way, it was $19.95.

:flower1:They were TOO excited to sleep & got up at 5 am today.
I am now having them get the house ready for the trip.
They are:
getting their room cleaned,
changing the sheets,
helping with laundry: sorting for washing & putting away clean,
decluttering the family
getting their travel bags packed
and trying to not YELL as dh is still sleeping :cutie:
Aren't you glad you told them already??? A clean house - that's great!! Can't wait to meet your princesses (who seem to be in Cinderella/Snow White mode at the moment!)
I can imagine how excited they were when you finally told them. My dd has known for a while, and she couldn't sleep last night either.

We're headed to MCO about 1:30 this afternoon and should get in around 5:20. Staying at Downtown Disney tonight and headed to the Port in the morning. We're mostly packed but will finish as soon as the boys are up and then run the puppy to a friends before heading to the airport. Can't believe the trip is finally here - Can't wait to meet everyone tomorrow! Safe travels everyone!!!

:magnify:I found the shirt right where Fluvanna said it would be outside of the Buzz Lightyear ride.
Glad to hear the price has dropped. It was a major splurge in January. He wanted it to be his DIS green in port but if Hadley strikes out I will have to order it.
HI everyone. It is cooling off tonight and supposed to be chilly and raining tomorrow--so those of you arriving tomorrow may want jeans and light jackets with you on the plane;)
Stefanie--I am glad to read you all feel better.
Fluvanna--We had no luck with the shirt at Downtown Disney today--BUT the girl at World of Disney thinks they have them outside of the Toy Story ride at the studios and we will be there tomorrow so I will look (and call if we find it).
I can't wait to meet you all on Saturday:yay:
Thanks for looking Hadley!! Hope they have it there!! :magnify:
I'm glad that you are feeling better too Stefanie!! I still have an annoying cough from the cold 2 weeks ago but feel fine. Its quite cool here in south Georgia too! I needed to have packed another long sleeve shirt!
I can't believe how close we are! I really should be finishing up packing but wanted to see what everyone was doing.
We will be staying at the Radisson at the Port tomorrow night. Turns out it was cheaper than paying to park at the port so we figured we could start a day early.
Safe travels everyone. See you on the ship!
:yay::woohoo::cool1:
We're staying at the Marriott Courtyard near port for the same reason. We can sleep, get a hot breakfast, parking for a week, and shuttle service for less than port parking.
DH is going to drop DD and I off with the bags and then go back and ride the shuttle alone with no bags. Does anyone know if I can check in without him? Maybe I should have him park in short term, come in and get checked in, then go park back at the hotel?? We plan to be there around 10.
Can't believe you had so much trouble at check-in! That has got to be the worse Disney check-in experience I have heard of!! Glad you are in and hopefully had a good night's sleep. Hope everything is smooth sailing (pun intended) from here on out!
I can't wait to meet everyone tomorrow too! I was dreaming cruising dreams last night (haven't been doing that - just of lists of things to finish!) Finally feels real! We keep saying "Merry Christmas" to each other since this is a big hunk of our Christmas this year.
See you all tomorrow morning!

Hi Fluvanna,
Last year when we cruised, I dropped off the wife and kids and took the car back to Budget. Everyone waited for me but I found out when I returned that my wife could have done quite a bit of the check-in without me. Sorry, I just can't remember the details. As it turned out, I'm the one that organizes the paperwork so we'll probably be in the same boat tomorrow.
We arrived yesterday from Nova scotia, so it was great to step out into 78 degree weather! We swam in the pool at Marriott Residence Inn (Canaveral), but today it's not nice...rainy and 60F. Probably just go shopping (I have three girls), maybe swim in the rain and get ready for tomorrow.
Safe travels everyone!

Hi Wuv Tigger,
How old are your kids? My girls are 6, 8 and 12. We tried to watch the rocket launch last night but it was cancelled. It may happen tonight but I doubt it with the weather. We're going shopping now (it's 11 am) and then we'll hit the pool late this afternoon and probably evening. Rain won't stop us!!:cool1:
Hope to see you here at the hotel. I don't think I have the lime green this trip, it was crazy enough just getting packed. We only had 2.5 hours sleep before our flight yesterday morning!
I'll be looking for your lime green!

Fluvanna--we did try for the shirt. A manager back in the store in back of the studios where guest services sent us said that the shirt has been discontinued in the parks so no one is getting any more in and all that are left are at MK outside of Buzz (which we know are all too small)--so I think you are going to be out of luck. Hi All!
What a fantastic cruise!!!
It was great meeting many of you aboard the Magic! Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to meet everyone, but the people we did meet were super nice!
We've already booked for the December 10th Western Caribbean in 2011. We haven't told the juniors yet, but I'm already excited to get back aboard!
When I get my camera pics all on the computer, I'll send off some of the group shots we took.
Bye for now!

We too are back home and trying to unpack. We had a fabulous time (apart from all of us being grumpy due to DD4's lack of sleep), and a big part of that fabulous time was because we sat with fluvannaj, piratemaiden, and carmie3377. It was so great getting to know all of them. Our youngest DD misses them all already. I really wanted to get to know more of you, but I am thrilled with those who I got to talk with. I hope to meet you on future trips!
I am hoping to do a trip report also, but likely won't start for a week or so. We too booked another one onboard (dummy date for now), but won't tell the girls until it's close. In case some of you are thinking of trying out other cruiselines, here is our ranking of those we've been on, trying not to account for itineraries:
PARENTS:
1. Celebrity
2. Disney
3. Royal Caribbean
4. Princess
5. NCL
OLDEST DD who has been on other cruises with us:
1. Disney
2. All the others (she doesn't really remember the differences)
You know what made coming home a little easier? I hired someone I trust to organize our basement storage, clean out closets, our game and arts/crafts area, etc. I can't believe how much she got done. She even did all of our laundry, and matched up socks (which we all hate doing). These were projects I had been hoping to accomplish while unemployed, but I got a job too soon to do any of them. Anyway, I highly recommend it and plan to do it again in the future as needed.
For those who are still traveling, I hope your travels home are safe and quick.

Hi all and we could not agree more! I am sitting in Old Key West with 2 sleeping boys - lesson learned..go to Disney before the cruise... although they enjoyed MVMC they are just worn out! We were back in the room by 9:30! We also booked our next cruise, we will be bringing the 2012 New Year in on the Disney Dream! The kids are dying to see the ship, so even though the itinerary is not great, we will enjoy exploring the new ship! We enjoyed meeting you all and like Tower and Amy, we did not get to meet everyone but truly enjoyed meeting those we did! Hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday!!!

It WAS a great cruise, wasn't it? We really enjoyed sitting with your family at dinner each night. Your family is great!
We booked 3 more cruises while onboard.:lovestruc One we had already booked for Alaska in 2011, but we rebooked to get the 10% discount and the OBC. Then we added another 4 day on the Wonder at the end of April as well as a 7 day Western on the Magic for this coming December, 2010. Not sure which we will keep and which will become placeholders for future cruises. I just wanted to make sure we HAD options because when I booked Alaska originally back in Sept, I had to book at full price.

We too had a great time and alot of that was due to our great tablemates. We got back Saturday night after a not great day of driving (2 accidents, rain Florida-SC, and the bridge at Santee down to one lane for repairs). All the buildings I am in have stopped rocking so I guess I have my "land legs" back. It was funny to be in church yesterday and feel it swaying like the Walt Disney Theater.:3dglasses

We got back at about midnight last night. Our flight had been delayed coming home to Baltimore. We left sunny 84 F weather to come home to freezing rain. The worst was that our side/side fridge that was 7 years old had broken while we were gone. Luckily my parents stopped to check on the house 3 days after we left and discovered empty ice cream containers floating at the door along with about $500 worth of meat, etc. that had thawed. They cleaned it up for us and even had a repair guy come out and order the part we needed. It was fixed today but it's completely empty now and I need to do some serious food shopping! As I told Derek---it could have been worse so we need to look on the bright side!
We had a fabulous cruise and rebooked for July 24, 2011 5 day Dream and the November 26, 2011 7 day Western. It was great meeting everyone we got to meet from our Dis group. Thank you again for all the great FE gifts!!!!

We got back this morning around 11. We didn't book onboard this trip but we did purchase more DVC points. I guess it helped to win the $300 onboard credit from DVC to put us in the mood to finalize it (and also the great incentive - purchased points for cheaper than we did 2 years ago at AKLV!). We are planning on an Alaska cruise in 2011 - but we needed to figure out vacation schedules and stuff and just didn't get our act together to book.
The D23 Magic and Merriment event was AWESOME! I hate to say, I think it beat the cruise and our cruise was WONDERFUL too!! The D23 team did a fantastic job with all the details and we were spoiled over the weekend. The food was incredible, the surprises were awesome and this mom shed quite a few tears as her son got to make it snow and turn on the lights at the Osborne Lights on Saturday night for our special viewing along with the manager that brought the lights to Disney Studios (he was hand picked by the WDW Special Events Manager who had been "watching" him all day and thought he was so cute and well behaved). It truly made his trip and he can't stop talking about it. I've cried several times today while telling family members what happened this weekend. Tried "Walt's Very Own Chili" recipe yesterday for lunch along with his favorite Monte Cristo Sandwiches and a bunch of other "favorites". We will definately try to get tickets for the next East Coast event!
Cinderella's Suite in the castle is to die for! I would love one night in that place! Pics will be coming as soon as I have a chance to download/upload them! We were definately glad for the fast passes that were included in the event as the parks were packed this weekend. The MVMCP was PACKED last night! We saw lots of people without wristbands that were still in the park and nothing was being done about it except on the bridge from Main Street to Liberty Square. Hopefully, they kicked a bunch out after the parade.
Need to go pull out another Gingerbread Cookie - I made a haul at the Grand Floridian yesterday and haven't gotten my fill yet!
To those that participated in the FEs - Thanks for all of the wonderful FE gifts - it made my son's trip!
Sorry we didn't get to the meets. The waves threw me for a loop the first few days (along with something that I ate Saturday that didn't agree with me). We also had our Character Breakfast Sunday Morning!
Oh - I have a princess whiteboard from my door. If it belongs to you, PM me your address and I will send it out!

We just got back last night. Can't believe we left 84 for a cold 37!!! What were we thinking??
Sorry we didn't meet up with anyone. I didn't pay attention that there was a meet at
port and 9am was too early for us the next day. Our girls were one of the few crazy
kids in the Mickey pool that day! With the exception of the weather at port, Castaway Cay and the Pirate's In the Caribbean party..we had a great cruise!!! Tortola was our favorite port.
One of the consoler's in the lab said early next year they will be testing with getting rid of the age groups for kids, except Flouder's Reef, and will make age recommendations for activities. My girls didn't go in the Lab much. My 9 year old would rather of chilled and not have a schedule of when to do things. Group activities, some of the kids were not really good about taking turns. Pirate's In the Caribbean party was kind of boring...over all we loved the cruise! We surprised the girls with 2 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort. They were too tired to be really surprised. MK was INSANE!!!! A cast member I spoke to said they were not expecting that kind of crowd...we didn't enjoy ourselves. Went to EPCOT and DHS the next day..that was enjoyable! Have to go..will write a trip report after this weekend.

We were at CBR as well, but for 2 nights prior to the cruise. It does not surprise me that it was so busy, with the rain on the past 2 Fridays, the weekend crowd I'm sure only grew. Since we'll be back within 2 years, we're not too concerned about missing anything.
Back to the routine now with meetings, and I wear the red suit at the school today, Thursday and Sunday.
It was a truly relaxing vacation, one I needed after a lot of pressure over the year. Glad we did the 1-week cruise and not a 3/4 day deal. Would have just begun to settle down and we'd have to pack up to leave again.

Hi everyone,
My home internet is back up, as I finally am back home in Chicago!! It was a great pleasure to meet all of you on the cruise!
I was on my way back to work yesterday, and as I was crossing the street(in the crosswalk, with the light), a Cab driver hit me, and I was in the emergency room at Northwestern Hospital for 3 hours being checked out(don't worry, I am just a little bruised and battered). It definitely could have been a lot worse, as my right arm and elbow are very sore, and I have a few cuts and bruises.
I hope everyone keeps in touch, as meeting all of you made the cruise that much more fun!
Take care and Happy Holidays!!

Thanks for reminding me MommyofTwinfants...Our group had lots of "Stars" on the trip. We saw Scothen do his Mouseketeer gig, and my DD9 was also a Mouseketeer. Then later, both Hadley's husband David (Hadley is NHDisneyLover) and my husband Gary were on stage with the Fusion What's-his-name magician guy. Were there any others?
We too loved the FE gifts. I just ate some candy from Germany that I really enjoyed. I haven't unpacked all of the others yet, but I'm working my way through them all. The kids played with a lot of their gifts on the flight home too.

Then later, both Hadley's husband David (Hadley is NHDisneyLover) and my husband Gary were on stage with the Fusion What's-his-name magician guy.
Wow! Dave & Hadley really got around on the ship! At their recommendation, we took in the Tuesday night show of the comedian, followed by the Disco night. Both Dave and I were selected to participate as stage acts. Dave as a Kung Fu fighter, and myself as Barry White (coincidentally, my first name is Barry)
It was a hoot, but there was so much smoke in the room from the CO2 fog that our pictures did not turn out so well. Darn, they would have made good blackmail pics ;)
Sorry Amy, we're not going back so early. we may go to AK or Epcot next December when we go on our Carnival cruise, but we have not decided yet as a definite. We'll see how it goes.

Is anyone going back to DisneyWorld anytime soon? We are planning a trip in mid-March. Anyone else?
--Amy
my guys did the intro thing to the golden mickeys they felt famous, people kept telling them they loved their act....:rotfl:, trust me they were just being themself........ they were the ones in the suit and my oldest thought he would wear his tie out instead of tucked into his suit.
Hadley I saw your son on the Big Screen too as we were sitting down, I guess y'all showed up right after us :goodvibes.
Amy your daughter did an awesome job up there too. :cutie:
Allright who did we almost catch putting our goodie bag in the FE, I remember hearing someone say they are coming then I heard giggling and feet running down the hall.... The boys were excited that they almost saw who it was, I guess it was kind of like catching santa in the act
Going back in June and staying at the fort in a Tent :scared: I promised my boys we would go camping but they will do a "hotel room" if we can get into the treehouses so I am Keeping my fingers crossed the waitlist comes through.

We're actually going back at the end of January for a week to get out of the winter cold. Then we'll be back mid-March, too, for our usual trip for my birthday. That trip we will be taking my mom, sister, and two nieces with us.
We booked a 4 night cruise on the Wonder for the end of April. Yes, that's a lot of trips to WDW. But I'm taking advantage of being unemployed right now and having the time to go.

Hey everybody. It is nice to see you all posting again:goodvibes and it was so nice meeting many of you onboard. We made it home Sunday night (overnight flibght and long layover in Amsterdam comming home) but my dad and his girlfriend arrived less than 24 hours later for a short visit--so I was not on the computer much while they were here. Now I finally have time to pop on and catch up with everyone.
I do want to be sure to thank everyone involved in the Fish Extenders for all of the goodies. I cannot believe how much stuff showed up:eek: You would have thought we had 100 cabins invovled! Everythign was great, really EVERYTHING. I think I was most totally excited by the lovely sand dollar ornament and the ribbon bookmarks (I may steal that idea for the trans atlantic cruise as they are nice and small) but thouroughly enjoyed all the surprised (it got a little overwhelming at times:rotfl2:).
And the girls realized there is a Dis meet in the Promenade Lounge as I type.
We had a great time ---- minus our trip to Tortola
I am hoping to get my Trip Report started later tonight!

Sorry your trip to Tortola was not good:hug: We liked it better than any caribbean port we have been to yet. We did the early morning Peter's Island kayak and snorkle tour and loved it other than wanting more time (another hour would be perfect) and then just walked in to the little town at the port and wandered a bit.
welcome back guys and gals.:wizard:
mind if Underdog lurks a while and checks out your pictures?:rolleyes1:3dglasses
Lurk away:thumbsup2 DH had to head for the Czech Republic for work on Monday morning (poor guy--all that flying to get home and he was in the house about 14 hours and had to leave for the airport again:sad2:) and he is the camera expert, so my photos likely will go up next week. What are you hoping to see?
I love your idea of hiring someone to come in while you are gone:thumbsup2 I bet that did make comming home easier.
Funny, we like Princess as much as Disney (in different ways) as adults and Marika prefers Princess but Rio prefers Disney. Rio was a little bored with the lab offerings this trip (he has been in the lab for three crusies now including a 14 night so he has done pretty much everything at least once and there was nothign new at all to mix it up--except the new theme to the show, which we all liked) and Marika was really not impressed with the "all video games, sports and gossip all the time" programming in the Wuest (just not her thing) so BOTH kids asked to book Princess again for next time while we were still on board:eek: We are on the DCL transatlantic next September and we do all want to do that one again--but we have cancelled Disney for 2011 and are watching to see what Princess or maybe HAL offers in the med during that time instead.
Hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday!!!
..
Kathryn--we ended up buying the first 3 Percy Jackson books for Marika at the airport:thumbsup2 She loves them. Thank the boys again for loaning her the first book on board:goodvibes
I'll be posting some pictures, soon as I get around to downloading pictures.

Sorry you had such a rough trip home--I am glad you were not involved in any of the accidents:hug:
The leak has been fixed at our house!
The new hot water heater is up & running!
The kitchen is closer to being put back together!
Grammy might be home from the nursing/rehab facility in time for Christmas!
ALL is much better NOW!!!

EEK! I hope you really are okay and the soreness and bruises go away quickly:hug: What an awful "welcome" home taht must have been. Scot, we sure enjoyed dining with you and getting to know you on board. Thank you for joining us.

We don't know what was up with Dave. The kids were pointing frantaically at him during Freddy Fusion's act becuase they love that actand wanted him on stage (where he was with Gary) but otherwise he was not trying to get picked at all--he wanted to give otehr people a chance. HE was the "colored guy" in the Alfred and Seymour act (they are new and we really enjoyed them. Anyone else enjoy it?), and got pulled up to dance during pub night as well:lmao: It was like pick on the tall guy week or something:rotfl2: He had a lot of fun though.

I know you booked right before is onboard and were so happy with the repo to Alaska and then the first Alaska cruise of the season in 2011. I'm actually glad to hear that you changed your mind. For the first time cruise to Alaska, you will be MUCh better off taking a Princess cruise but go a bit later in the season than early May. I was serious when I told you there is really nothing open that early in the season in Alaska and you'd miss SO much by not doing a land portion with that trip. Denali Park is a must see in my book, for example.
For right now, we're keeping our mid-August trip to Alaska with Disney but that may still change. I'd like to see how Disney does Alaska but I KNOW Princess does Alaska well from experience. We plan to go to Alaska every 5 years with Princess for as long as we are able to go (next trip is 2013).

Scott--sorry about the cab, glad you are okay.
We aren't going back to WDW until June for Star Wars weekends which seems like forever from now! We've got the Baltic cruise in July on the Magic and then will be back to Orlando in December for a few days before/after our 4 night Wonder cruise. We may try and squeeze a fall trip in depending on the SouthWest flight deals.
Brennan and 2 of his cousins helped introduce the Golden Mickeys (8:30 show). My husband's step brother Brian did the Newleywed show and was picked to help out in a couple of the adult comedy shows. We did see Dave in a few things and I think I have a picture of him during the pub night I'll have to see if I can post soon. We really thought Alfred and Seymour were funny too. We missed the main Freddy Fusion show since we were in Palo but saw his bit he did at the adult show. I hope he's on the Baltic. It was nice to see Michael Harrison again. Brennan made a tennis ball puppet the day we got home.
We were right back to work/school and 2 sessions of wrestling practice at night so we are still under a mound of never ending laundry. I'm hoping to get most of it done tonight with no wrestling!!
We have 5 DCL cruises booked for now, most with friends/family. Once we do those and the Dream I think we are going to venture out to some of the other cruise lines. We love DCL, but with the kids getting older and as many of you said having the same stuff in the club/lab after 15 cruises it's time to try something new.
If anyone needs pictures for scrapbooking, I have tons and tons all over the ship and ports. I have a funny one I took at the terminal with Mickey playing hide and seek with a child in line in front of us. Only he was hiding behind the photograher and it looks like he's sniffing his back side. I'm going to send it to the Ellen Degeneres show for the "whats wrong with these photos photos " segment.

Thanks for all the advice. Honestly, we booked the Alaska cruises primarily as dummy dates and are holding on to them for now just in case but we have droped our previously "firm" back to back med. cruises in 2011. We will sail the med with Princess then (gotta do med cruises while we are here and airfare makes sense to do them instead of the other way around:goodvibes). We'll get to Alaska someday when we do not have to fly transatlantic to do it. It is nice to hear others are still enjoying Princess (we have not been on them in about 4 years).

Hello everyone -
I am looking for a man named GARY ... who has a partial e-mail address of MATTYMOUSE (or similar). I was on the same Castaway Cay parasailing boat as Gary, and took pictures of Gary and his family (at their request) on my camera. I was to have e-mailed them to him, but I am getting messages bounced back from his IP (if I have the proper e-mail address).
So, if you know someone named Gary (he has, or was traveling with at least two boys) ... please have him contact me, so I can get his pics to him.
:cheer2:
... BTW ... we booked the inaugural Disney cruise to Alaska ... because we COULD. We wanted to be the first to visit Alaska aboard Disney. Feel free to search You Tube for the first time the Disney Magic visited Barcelona in 2007. I am sure there will be plenty of hoopla! Accordingly, I am sure I will re-visit Alaska via cruise, or cruise & land ... whether on Disney, Princess ... or even Holland America - which is suposedly better than Princess (in Alaska). Personally, I like HAL a bit more than Princess ... but HAL does tend to cater to those who are aged 40+ (though kids are indeed onboard).

That was DD9 and I delivering FE gifts. I had met you in the hall earlier in the trip, so I recognized you when you came down the hall. We had fun running away. I didn't tell DD9 this, but I had memories of TP-ing houses as a kid ;-). We also did get caught by someone else, but I can't remember who it was. Since I didn't recognize him, he walked right up to his door as we were putting things in the FE :guilty:. We were so embarrassed. Making and delivering them was almost as much fun as receiving them.

We actually also like Princess a lot. I think our issue with it had a lot to do with the itinerary (it's hard to separate that). We did Princess for the Panama Canal trip when I was still in my twenties, and we were the only younger couple on board. It seemed like everyone else was over 60. We loved the service, food, ship, etc., but the activities were really geared for an older crowd. While we had a wonderful time and met some great people (and would definitely do Princess again), I think our circumstance put it lower on the list.
Regarding Disney, Julia also did not love the activities in the lab, but the unlimited screen time made up for it (she only gets 30 minutes/day at home).

After the cruise we went to WDW until Tues. The weather was perfect. Crowds weren't a problem. But we were with a couple we met on a previous cruise and were more interested in just sharing a relaxing few days and seeing the Christmas stuff. We met some cruisers from the ship which kind of felt like extending the cruise.
85 degrees when we left FL. Last night it was 11, today 20, tonight 4, -3 degrees with the wind chill. :sad1: I want to go back!!! A fantastic cruise. Didn't get to so half the things I would have liked, but that just means we have to go on another one. (We turned platinum with this one, and I'd like to see if that group gets anything better than gold.) We have signed up for the first Alaska cruise, and the 08/07/11 Dream cruise.

DisneyCruisin': I'm so sorry, we must have missed your room with the bookmarks. I couldn't figure out why I had an extra set when we finished, and then after checking our list again, I convinced myself that I was counting our cabin in with the total when I made them. They were a Minnie- and/or Mickey-themed ribbon (1 or 2 bookmarks depending on how many adults were in the cabin) with white, black, and sometimes yellow buttons on the top.
I did wonder if those who got the 'hidden' mickey on their bookmarks noticed it? We only did it on a few, so did anyone notice?

Same here! I know there were alot of cameras there so hopefully there is a good picture or two that will end up on the board for us.
I meant to thank you sooner, Christine, for getting your TA to arrange for us to sit with other DISers. We really loved sitting at the table with Tower and his family. After the first night it seemed like we'd known them for years! Very cute kids and VERY well behaved. He should be proud of his family.

They sound cute! No problems!!!

85 degrees when we left FL. Last night it was 11, today 20, tonight 4, -3 degrees with the wind chill. :sad1: I want to go back!!!
We normally cruise during the 1st or 2nd week in December, as we often get a dusting of snow here in suburban Philadelphia. This cruise was no different. It's nice to be in the "tropics" while it's snowing at home.
:yay:
We returned to 39 degrees of "reality" at the airport baggage terminal. However, TODAY, we're bracing for 22 inches of snow. I think I misjudged when to go on a cruise this year. S.O.B.!

We are still unpacking from the trip, and I unpacked a lot of our FE gifts this morning. I had forgotten all the great things we got. I LOVE the magnets, the tropics CD from Hanover, the Holiday CD, the starfish ornament, the snowman ornaments, all the paper and pens, the candy (I'm eating Goobers right now), the cruiseship recipes, the light-up drinking straws, ... the list goes on and on.
I don't think I could choose a favorite if I tried! Thanks again to the awesome gift givers!

Actually they were the ones in the middle that had been married 10 years and talked about the bathroom counter. I'm so glad my MIL wasn't in there!!
I liked the older couple on the end, they were sooo funny! We ran into them quite a bit the rest of the cruise.
At Alfred and Seymour family edition, my mom's camera was the one that was taken and thought they broke it. My DH didn't fall for it, the rest of us did.

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone!
I have to say I love seeing all the Diseny memories on our tree this year. I love the little jingle bell ornaments from Scot, the sand dollar and the adorable customized snowmen (the kids found those and David packaged them up ASAP so they would not get broken and I did not even know about them until I unpacked here:rotfl2:). Speaking of unpacking, I could not get over how much things I found as I kept unpakcing. So many cute little notebooks with pens, so many pens and pencils and little fun things for the kids (travel games and yo yos and lib blams and planners). WOW! It was amazing seeing everything (well, minus the yummy treats--we noticed we got a LOT of peanut buttery goodness form our awesome fellow cruiseres) all ammassed together. it is like Santa already came to us!
All of you (FE participants or not) made our cruise a blast. Thanks to each and every one of you for making the plannign and the sailing so much fun.
To those of you celebrating today and tomorrow: Merry Christmas. And the everyone: Happiest of New Years.

It was wonderful meeting you and your family as well Hadley. We're just getting ready here for Christmas Eve Mass in 8 hours. (Our church has services 4,6,8,10 and midnight, plus regular Sunday schedule on Christmas Day.) Had choir practice again last night so my guitar is ready to match up to the steel drum, organ, violins and flute. (would you believe that there is only 8 of us!)
Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas everyone! TAke the time with family if you can. The children are only young once.

Same to you and yours Fluvanna! We did watch a bit of it on both CBC and ABC. The CBC version had co-hosts Steven & Chris over Kelly Ripa and others. (They are a couple of gay guys who apparnetly are famous, IMO it took away from the 'family' aspect) Ended up watching the ABC version as it was classier.

Our DDs sure are opposites. Olivia couldn't stand waiting for Julia to take her turn opening gifts because Julia plays with each item for sometimes hours before wanting to open the next gift. It has taken us 2-3 days EVERY year to finish opening gifts thanks to Julia. So here we are at 10pm with Olivia's gifts all opened and Julia with SIX more unopened gifts to go :-)... Cracks me up that she wants to savor each one. She even read an entire 200 page book today before wanting her next gift. At a recent party we were asked what holiday tradition is our favorite and this is what I chose. Not only does it epitomize my kids' personality differences, but it is fun that our day lasts so long.
We had a wonderful white Christmas too here in St. Louis, which only seems to happen about 15% of the time. I have lots of photos from the trip to share, but we are having hard drive space issues, so I can't download them yet. Once I do, we will upload some for you all.
Carmie, I love that photo of our youngest under the table - we got so few opportunities to see your DS awake!
I'm sure going to miss planning with you all....

Oh yes, that was him! I had forgotten he said that until you mentioned it. I was hoping no one heard (or at least the person he made the comment about). Little kids aren't embarrassed about saying anything. We're working on not making comments about other people but obviously we're still working on it :).
Anyway, I didn't realize that our paths crossed during the cruise. I remember some other people behind us/in front of us walking back up but didn't know it was you. What did you think of the Baths? We loved it and was definitely the highlight of our excursions during the cruise.

You are welcome! My friend and I are taking our oldest sons on the 1/28 3 day cruise thanks to the Kids Sail Free Promotion. I was just looking around on Travelosity a few months back to see what the best DCL deals around were and I saw we could get a room for $950 plus tax. My DH has his police promotion exam that weekend and it's only offered once a year so he couldn't go. I asked one of my best friends because she has 3 kids and usually has to get 2 rooms and she said they'd love to split the cost and go. We got SouthWest airlines tickets for $59 each way so we really lucked out. Now if only they offered the $99 bounceback deal again...
