Just wondering...

As I sit here back from a 10 day trip from SSR trying to figure out how to get more points. We currently have 300 and maybe I am just feeling greedy for the need for more. With that being said I was curious to see how many points others have and how many vacations they take with them a year. I can only seem to get one long vacation with my points (considering we get a 2 bedroom studio-which I dont know how I would go back to anything else after staying in them:confused3 ) Sooooo if you like me are interested to see what the average number of points pepole have please join the poll. Also post what creative ways you have found to best maximize those points.

I'd like to add-on at CRV someday, though. Of course, DH isn't very fond of that idea. He thinks my 150 points at SSR is more than enough.

If CRV becomes a DVC reality, then I would love to add 100 points to my contract. ;)

We have exactly 100 points.

We are waiting to purchase in the North Garden Wing at the Contemporary Resort as soon as they complete the asbestos removal project. I'm really excited about the enviro-friendly air conditioning system they have introduced, and the minimalist decor.

We just closed today on our BWV points. Now we have all of our favorite resorts available at 11 months. We don't have any money for the wasteful things in life like food and clothes, but we have our DVC. :woohoo:

I had 430 points, but we're now down to 300. When CRV comes through we'll add on another 100 points. We get two vacations per year, one between Christmas and New Year's and one in the summer. We almost always stay in studios since it's just 3 of us and I like to maximize my points.

ETA: We usually stay for 7-10 days each time.

I don't think it is greed, as long as you are using all of your points, even if you are banking everyother year so you can have one long trip. I only have 150 but would like more, I have thought about getting 25 at two different resorts once we pay off this contract, and bank and borrow so we can have an 11 mont window at three resorts.

I absolutely want more!!! We have 390 and for us to get a 2-BR for a week in the summer runs us anywhere from 296 - 360 depending on where we stay. I'd love to have enough to tack on about 4 - 5 more days. We live in OH, so if we don't fly, we need 1-2 travel days on each side. We are planning on doing some small add-ons in the next few years to allow for that.

That is my problem as well...we used about 330 points this year for a 10 day stay (during the "low point season"). Now I am already short for this year. I gues I could just shorten my vacations :rotfl2:

yeah right:rotfl2:

400 total ~
240 at BWV
60 BCV
100 SSR

our vacations used to be the 4 of us (DH, now 23yo DD, now 19yo DS, & self of course ;) ) in a 1 bedroom for 10-12 daysevery year. then every other year, my parents, & DB & his family would go 1 week in a 2bdrm with my points.
now, the kidlets tend to go on more trips with their friends :guilty: , so DH or DD & I (note: "I" get to go ALL the time lol) will go about 8-10 days & stay in a studio twice a year. for 2008, we're going in may & Oct (FFW again  )
we really like the flexibility of DVC (we went from 1bdrm to studio, a single trip in aug to 2 trips throughout the year) ~ a regular timeshare would not have changed along with our family's vacationing styles. (in may of this year, a $49 SWA fare popped up, so i asked DD if she was interested, & we booked SSR for a last minute, mom & daughter trip......i love that we can do more spur of the moment vacations *** we don't have to factor in a huge cash outlay for the room :yay: ).

will prob add 100+ points at CRV when it becomes available, & at that point might sell our BCV contract (unfortunately, we did not stay at BCV prior to purchasing there (had stayed at BC itself & liked it tho). without going into details, we are simply not as enamored with BCV as we are with the others :confused3 ).

Intersting...we did the same thing an havent stayed there yet.

We have 150 and it's been enough for us until now. I definitely see the need for more in the next couple of years. Just haven't figured out if I want to do a couple of smaller ones or one big one. Decisions, decisions, decisions!

We had originally 150 when we bought in Nov 06 at SSR but in June 07 we added an additional 50 points.

I have 260 and am still toying with the possibility of getting another 60-70. With my 260 plus banking about 160 from this year, I will have
1) long weekend at AKV conceirge in a studio in this use year
2) long weekend in a 1 br at AKV in November next year
3) 8-10 days in either a studio or 1 br in December next year.

I am considering adding more points so that I would have one 8-10 day trip each year in a 1 br.

AKV 150
BCV 110
OKW 332

We stay Sunday to Friday so we don't use points any longer for weekends (living so close we do not need a week on site).

Our points are getting us 5 trips per year in 2 bedroom villas. We will eventually go down to 1 bedroom when it is just two of us.

We have 210 at AKV. We are thinking of adding on a couple of times over the next few years. Likely in 25 point contracts. We are thinking that we want all of our points at AKV since it is unlikely that we will be adding on enough to get us a long enough stay at the 11 month window at a second resort. Since we go twice a year, to make a second resort work, we would need about 80-90 to get us a studio for one trip in that resort. We are thinking that with them all at AKV, we can book larger accommodations at AKV at 11 months if we need, and try our luck at the 7 month window at other DVC resorts.

But we are definitely going to be adding on!

We have 270 but will be adding on some more soon because we added to our family and won't be able to make a one bedroom work soon -- the only question is, do we take advantage of the Developer's Points for SSR or AKV or do we wait for CRV? I'd LOVE to own CRV, but wonder if it will be much more expensive than the great deals they're offering now to do so...

We have 250 at SSR & I am dying to buy 68 more at AKV (enough for a studio savanna view every other year in the "Magic" season). But since they never offer incentives for so few points we're just sorta in limbo about making the add-on purchase. I want a sale that would apply to us too!:goodvibes Meanwhile, we're now booking our ressies with the DVC cash discount 'cuz we're out of points! :sad2:

We had 500 but are down to 325. Plan on selling one more 50 point contract soon. 275 is still more than I planned to wind up with, but for now, that's what we'll have.

We currently have 607 (210 AKV, 145 VWL, 132 BCV, 120 BWL). May add-on for GCV at DLR and will definitely add-on if CRV becomes a reality.

We are trying to visit WDW 3-4 times a year, staying 8 nights each time.
