Hi Vicki
sorry for the delay in getting back to you. My mother in law past away two weeks ago from a gas explosion and it has been so hectic. getting on this site helps me forget about things at least for a little while.
This cruise will be # 3 for us. WE LOVE ANYTHING DISNEY :earsboy: The mouse rules !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we are so looking forward to this trip especially now since my boys are having such a tough time dealing with what has happened.
My Little guy will be very excited to have someone his age, just be prepared because he loooooooooooooves to talk oh boy he will talk about anything and everything so your son will be kept busy for sure.
We live in Sunnyside Queens, where at this moment there is an ice storm going by, so it is cold here as well, although I am sure its much colder by you.
ok have to run will check in again soon. I am hoping that some more people will sign in so maybe we can put together a secret sants for the kids.
We already have our fish extenders, (Think we are bit excited) :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We really enjoyed this year's Mousefest cruise but we aren't going back next year after having done the last two years. We're going on a trip to Alaska next year instead and only a few days at WDW in December instead of the cruise as well. We did sign up for another cruise while on Mousefest this year though. We're doing Eastern 7 night cruise on the Magic starting Dec 5, 2009.

Hi Clara,
Oh my Goodness - I am so sorry about your mother in law. That is awful!!!! What a freak incident. My condolences go out to you and your family. I imagine that this is a very hard time for all of you especially with the holidays coming up.
Did you survive the ice storm? We just got more snow here too. The temp reading in the car this morning read 12 degrees this morning. brrrr. Winter sure has come in strong this year.
Secret santa for the kids would be a lot of fun on our cruise! We just did secret santa on our cruise a couple weeks ago and the kids really had fun playing it! I did too:) I want to get a fish extender too. Did you make your own or buy it somewhere? i've read they sell some on e-bay.
Zach, my 5 year old, will be excited too that there will be someone his age.
Hopefully they will be able to play with each other in the club.
Hope to talk to you soon and again, sorry about your MIL.

Hi Vicki
we survived the ice storm, we are expecting snow tonight.
although 12 degrees:sick: ouch is cold.
My sister actually ordered the fish extenders from Ebay, but I think she will also try and personalize them as well. She got all the creativity. She is also making the signs for our doors.
How did the ship look when you cruised was it already decorated for the holidays ??

Hi Clara,
An ice storm is no fun!!!!!1 It seems we sure are getting a lot of snow and ice this year and early. At least we will have a white Christmas :)
That is nice that your sister ordered them from e-bay for you. It will be fun personalizing them. I am looking forward to getting a fish extender. I may go to Walmart and try to put something together. This ought to be interesting since I am not very good at sewing  I might have to ask my MIL to help  I am thinking about getting a Mickey Mouse hole punch too for decorating our door. I am getting exciting about this cruise can't you tell--even if it is 11 months and some away.:  :goodvibes hourglass.
Yes the ship was decorated for Christmas. It was very pretty. They had a tree lighting ceremony that I missed, but my husband and daughter saw it.
I still have a lot to do for the holidays...send out Christmas cards...wrap presents. etc...always so much to do...:) but it's fun! Are you ready for the holidays? I hope you are enjoying the holiday season!

Hello, mvlimmex-Vicki, Inkmahm, and clarasunnyside-Clara.
I had a wonderful time on the cruise, too.
Vicki, I was asking about you, but I can't remember if I got to meet you and your family.
I apologize if I can't remember, but I am terrible with remembering names.
Did we get to say hello?
And thank you for starting another thread.
I got to meet so many other DISers onboard.
I think that I met DisneyNerd first and her friend, and I remembered her after meeting and saying hello serveral times.
And I remember Mark...O.K., and I forgot the other names and couples but I think that I remember their faces.
I just want to thank you so very much if you stopped me to say hello and introduce yourself.
It was great seeing everyone.
Inkmahm, I am sorry you won't be on the cruise again, but have fun on your next cruise.
And hello, clarasunnyside-Clara. I really like your name. I am so sorry about the snow and ice on your end. I was in the Wonder's Cove Cafe and saw the TV's weather map with all of the snow in the NE.
I finally figured out what a fish extender was. It was something that MFT hung outside my stateroom door to put notes and goodies in.
I think that I will bring it back with me next year and use it to save them from making another one for me. It actually became very handy.
Everyone was so creative with their door decorations.
I have already signed up for the cruise, too, onboard and will transfer to MFT for more onboard perks. I love that Beci of MFT was onboard to help in person with anything.
Although I didn't need anything.
They planned out everything perfectly.
I don't post often because I get kicked off in the middle of posting sometimes or my post doesn't show up because of an error and I have to start over again.
What can I say...I still use WebTV for my internet access at home....I am so way behind the times.
But, Vicki, I wanted to be persistent and post on your thread to thank you for starting this thread again, even if I can't post much.
I'll be at WDW before and after, too.
Didn't you just love the MK castle lights and the MGM Osborned lights?
Sincerely, Ray

Hi Ray!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So nice to hear from you. I am so glad that you will be on this cruise again too. We had a great time also. It was so much fun meeting everyone too. I did get a chance to meet several DISers, so that was fun! I did get a chance to meet you briefly in Shutters, but it was our 1st day I think and you know how crazy the first day can be. Next year, I will be sure to stop by again and introduce myself. I recognized your scooter several times. I like how you have it decorated for the holidays. :santa: We did go past your door a few times for the secret santa game and I loved your door. You did a great job on it! Are you in the same room next year? We booked our same room 2622 and 2624. We really liked our rooms and their location.
I wasn't sure what a door extender was either, but I saw many on the cruise and now I want one :cool1: The one's MFT put on up were really neat. I hope to make one up this year sometime. They do look like they would be very handy to have on the cruise. We didn't go to the parks this year, but I bet they were pretty with the Christmas decorations. Where did you stay while you were at the parks?
Well, I hope to hear from you again soon! I understand that you may have trouble with your computer posting, but if you get the chance I'd enjoy hearing from you. Have a happy holiday season!

It's great that you will be going on the cruise, I have not done the cruise during the holiday's so I am so excited, to see the ship decorated.

But my sister ordered ours so we are ready  We are now working on the door signs.
Well enjoy the holidays. Keep well and we will talk soon.

You'd have to convince my company to give me more than 5 weeks vacation! :rotfl: Alaska is taking up 2 weeks of it alone next August, and we always do a family trip for 2 weeks in June to fish in northern WI. That doesn't give me many days for Disney in 2008. :(

Hi everyone!
I am a newbie and just found this site yesterday and I am lovin' it! :) A lot of good information.
My hubby and I planning our Disney vacation for 12/08. We are almost 90% certain that we will be doing the land and sea vacation starting 12/4 with the 3 days at WDW first and then the 12/7 cruise. At travel time our 3 boys will be 9, 3 and 2.
Before hubby and I were married we went to WDW for a day; long story and can bore you all with the details some other time ;)
We honestly are getting a little overwhelmed with all the planning that is involved. Well not we really, mainly me :) Hubby is laid back and I'm the worry wart :p
But I am so glad I found this site and have spent as much time as I can the last 2 days reading up on stuff. I will warn you all in advance, I will have a LOT of questions :)
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

we are also doing the 3 day land 4 day sea. Soo excited. It seems that your husband will get along with mine :sad2: , the only thing he worries about is what time the taxi is coming to pick us up for the airport, he is totally stress free, while I get frantic making sure everything is done and taken care of :confused3
I have two boys and they will be 6 & 8 at the time of the vacation.
This is a great site and I am sure all your questions can be answered here.
So far it seems that we have a great group forming. Talk to you soon.

My wife and I (Sam and Joan) will be making our first Disney Cruise on Dec. 7th. Prior to that we'll be taking our first cruise ever (with Princess) as part of a 2 week Alsaka trip. Needless to say we're excited. We're frequent visitors to WDW (just back on Sunday from a weeks stay at Wilderness Lodge), and are using DVC points to pay for the trip. We'll visit WDW for 15 days after we return from the cruise.

Hi, everyone.
My family will be there too. It will be myself, husband, his parents and our two daughters ages (at the time of sailing) 3 & 11. Vicki, I think I saw a post from Adriane about a kids meet-up. I'll get my daughter Alexa to respond to her post. I'm sure she'd enjoy it a lot more if she had a friend to meet on the first day.
We're from Vancouver, BC, so the trip to Florida is a long one, especially with the youngest. Still, I enjoy Disney World SO MUCH MORE than Disneyland -- no contest.
Pre-cruise we'll be staying at 'home' at the DVC Beach Club Villas, and post-cruise we will either be at the Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Villas or Key West depending on availability (I can't book those for a little while yet).
My husband and I have cruised before (not with Disney), but the girls haven't. We've been waiting for the youngest to turn 3 before going on a Disney Cruise so the time has come!
I look forward to meeting you all.
Cheers.

Hi, Sam & Joan.
Contrary to everyone recommending to sell my DVC points to pay cash for the cruise, I used points too! I'll still have to pay cash for my in-law's cruise, but I really valued having some points left over to stay at 'home' during my trip.
I don't want to head all the way to Florida and miss out on WDW, that's for sure. It will be our first time staying at the Beach Club, but am really looking forward to it. VWL looks beautiful, and very Pacific Northwest (where I'm from).
Cheers.

I am not exactly sure what dis - tag is or SP or Kris Kringle. Can you tell me what they are?
I also made a list on my first post of those who are traveling so far. Please let me know of any changes or if I made any mistakes.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Clara,
We are doing well. We are trying to survive this cold cold weather we are having here. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband is going to the Packer game on Sunday and it is suppose to be about 5 or 6 degrees at kick off with below zero wind chills.
Adriane too is very excited about getting e-mails from your son. She also checks the site everyday :)
I wondered if Kris Kringle was like secret santa but I wasn't sure. I definitely want to play secret santa. I enjoyed it this last time we cruised.
I hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Vicki
I was thinking of your husband on Sunday. Mine was home glued to the TV.
LET'S GO GIANTS :woohoo: :woohoo:
Tell your husband I am so sorry he had to sit in that weather to have his team lose.
I hope he has warmed up. Boy it was cold, that is a true football fan.

Hi Clara,
My husband Marty did have fun at the game, but was disappointed that the Packer's lost!:sad1:
He said that it was soooooooo cold there thou. He said that you really couldn't even warm up much at all. It was just so cold. I was glad to be at home in my toasty house to watch it. Even though I had to take care of 3 sick kids at home. That was no fun. My 6 month old got RSV, but luckily is starting to feel better. It has been a stressful week with the kids being sick, but thankfully they are all starting to feel better. Sorry I didn't write sooner.
I bet you will enjoy watching the Giants play the Patriots. I do hope the Giants beat the Patriots! Is Sunnyside, NY near Niagara Falls? We were there several years ago and really enjoyed ourselves there.
Adriane is enjoying writing Anil.
Talk to you soon! Stay warm!:)

Clara :santa:
I don't have any suggestions on a name for our cruise yet, but I will keep thinking of one.
Secret Santa or Kris Kringle (I am sure they are pretty much the same) is a lot of fun. The person who organized it on our last cruise had 3 different groups of 5-6 cabins playing the game. We all bought little gifts for Mon. Tues, and Wed. for all the members of our group. It was fun! We had stockings on our doors for the gifts. But one could probably use fish extenders too for this.
We also had a meet session at the deck party and wore lime green for this, but it was so crowded up there that it was hard to tell who was and wasn't on the Dis boards. We should try to meet up as a group some other place on the ship where it will be easier to meet with one another. Just an idea :)

Hi Vicki,
Yes, we'll be going on the St. Croix cruise with my MIL and my DH's two stepbrothers and their families.
Is anyone else having trouble logging on to Disboards? It took me a dozen times trying and a computer reboot to log in successfully. I kept logging in my screen name and password and it would say "thanks for logging in Hanover" and go right back to the log in. It happened yesterday a lot too.

2.What time does the ship dis-embark on Dec11?

Welcome, everyone.
I haven't posted in awhile.
I will be glad to try and answer some of the questions, but please correct me if I am mistaken or leave something out.
!. What is MouseFest?
I think that you can get a lot of information from last years and previous years website at www.MouseFest.org . But please feel free to ask me if you have any specific questions and I will try to answer them.
I have always gone to WDW in the first two weeks of December, so it was very easy for me go to these meets.
Several years ago, one of many unofficial Disney web sites decided to get together at the same time in December for a few days.
After all, these people had been talking about Disney online all year.
Then several other people from other unofficial Disney sites got together to meet in WDW, too.
I remember when the Disney Information Station (DIS) had a huge DISboards meet headed by the owner of the DIS, Pete Werner.
He and the moderators had planned special meets like renting a convention hall at the Beach and Yacht Club, and an Epcot Illuminations Dessert Party, and a private MGM Tower of Terror meet.
Plus their were many other separate meets by smaller DIS groups much like ourselves here.
Then Deb Wills of www.AllEars.com and Dave and Jennifer Marx of www.PassPorter.com started planning the first MouseFest meet that welcomed all of the unofficial online Disney communities to get together during one of the first two weeks of December every year for four nights on a Disney Wonder cruise followed with about four or five days on land at WDW.
Anyone and everyone is always welcome to any MouseFest meet.
Many went to land events and/or cruise events.
I think that MouseFest was a way to meet other unofficial Disney communities and their owners and members that we have only heard about or met online.
At the same time many of the members were also book writers about Disney and they came to these MouseFests, too.
Last year, at the MouseFest Mega Meet, many authors were their signing their books in person.
Everyone has one thing in common...the love of everything Disney.
As you look at the website at www.MouseFest.org , you'll notice that almost all the meets are free and welcome anyone to any meet.
There may a few meets that may cost money.
For instance, the most common personal cost is WDW park entrance to get to a particular attraction ride meet.
Or another personal cost may be to have a meet to eat lunch or dinner at a restaurant.
These meets are usually first come first serve and usually require an RSVP so the the host of the meet can make Advanced Dinner Reservations (ADR's)
180 days in advance.
And sometimes if a table of 8 is full, another host will step in to volunteer to make an ADR for the same meet.
But most of the time if a meet is to ride an attraction or watch a parade or to see fireworks together the number of guests could be almost unlimited.
And on the Disney Wonder cruise, Deb Wills and Dave and Jennifer Marx will be onboard with their own meets open to everyone whether you signup for MouseFest or not.
Of Course, there may be one or two meets that may cost money.
I know that one that I went too was the Parasailing meet on Castaway Cay Island and that was the cost that Disney charged.
Last year, at the sailaway party that Disney gives on deck 9, the DIS met on deck 10 and so did MouseFest.
But a lot of both just went down on the deck 9 where all of the action was to dance.
Deb held a meet at Cove Cafe, and Dave did a great walking tour of Nassau.
If I were to go to one cruise meet, I wish you all could go to Deb Wills' "Walk, Stroll, Roll around the deck for brest cancer. Last year, one of the MouseFest sponsors donated $5.00 to every person that came the meet. This is my number one meet to go to every year.
And if you sign up with the MouseFest sponsor travel agent, thay actually have agents onboard to help you with anything that you need.
Like sitting you together with other MouseFesters at dinner, or having special welcoming gifts and going away parties. Just P.M. me if you would like any more information.
But anyone can sign up for free on the MouseFest cruise and they will be putting daily reminders at your stateroom doors of all of the meets each day.
2. I like using the porters on land and sea. It is so much easier for me.
On the cruise ship, before parking, you can drive right up to the entrance, drop off your family and drive about 30 feet further to drop off your luggage and then drive into the parking lot accross the street.
Or you can park first and carry your luggage to the same area without a porter.
I use a mobility scooter and I was very tired after putting my scooter together and I really wanted to use a porter to take my luggage in.
So I just asked someone walking by me in the parking lot if they could send a porter back to the parking lot.
It was easy to spot another MouseFester to ask because they were wearing a MouseFest yellow landyard around their neck.
Disney people are so friendly even if they are a stanger.
And as far as departing the cruise ship, as you exit the ship and enter the luggage area, you just ask any porter that you pass to please pick up your luggage and they walk out with you to the parking lot and your car.
3. Last year and I guess every year the Wonder always opens their parking lot around 10:30 to 11:00 A.M. and let you enter the Diseny terminal building.
Then you check in and they give you a number that they call out when it is your turn to check in, so that you don't have to stand in a long line. The number is for about 50 or more people at a time. Then they call the next number and so on until everyone has boarded.
The Sailaway party alway seems to be at 4:30 P.M after the mandatory Boat Drill.
And toward the end of the Sailaway party at 5:15 P.M. the ship departs the port.
I presume that they do the same thing on Thursday, December 11th per your question.
4. Oh, yes on Tuesday, after leaving Castaway Cay Island departure, the young pirates start appearing everywhere on the ship.
Every year, MouseFest sponsors a pirate contest with some wonderful prizes for anyone for free.
And at dinner all of the place settings include a pirate scarf to put on your head so everyone can be a pirate.
So to answer your question about the DIS and MouseFest, I would like to think that this thread is about both.
We could have our own meet onboard as DISboarders or we could even make an official DIS meet and invite other MouseFesters from other communities to join us.
Anyone interested.
One year I hosted a Christmas Tree Lighting meet onboard with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto singing and lighting the tree and making it snow on the first night in the atrium.
This meet would be free of course, just show up and say hello and maybe take a group photo.
That's the nice thing about getting to know everyone ahead of time on these forums.
You get to meet them in person on sea or land.
And a meet could be 3 or 4 people or a larger group of just DISboarders of 10 or 20, or an open MouseFest meet open to anyone that shows up.
Some meets might cost money and require a reservation like meeting for the DCL Palo Brunch or Palo Dinner.
But it doesn't cost any thing to smile and watch the Mickey gang sing and light a christmas tree.
Or meet on Castway Cay for lunch, or sand castle building on the sand.
Sincerely, Ray :)

Wow, you guys have been busy chatting and I've missed the last page of posts. For some reason, I only got the last post update in my email inbox.
This will be our 3rd year in a row cruising the first week of December. That week always works out well since it's after football and before wrestling for our sons and they don't miss any games/matches. It's my birthday Dec 7 so it's always great to be in my favorite place on earth. I also love seeing the ships decorated for Christmas.
We had friends book this cruise in the last week and they will have a DS12, DS8, and DD6. It will be great cruising with friends for the 1st time. We've had grandparents on our other 5 DCL trips, but this will be the first time that our DSthen 11 and DS7(today!) get to have friends to hang out with.
Ray, thanks for the information on mousefest. I sort of knew what it was about from Allearsnet and seeing them at WDW last December, but you clarified a lot.

This thread is for everyone that will be on the Wonder. I just posted it as Mouse Fest, since Mouse Fest will be during that time too. We participated in a few of the Mouse Fest activities last year. The ones we did were free of charge. They also have a door decorating contest, which was just fun to do. We didn't win of course, but my daughter and I just had fun decorating and getting into the Disney spirit. :)
Thanks so much Ray for clarifying Mouse Fest for all of us. We really appreciate it a lot! It was also nice to hear from you. I hope you are doing well.

My girls have their last day at school today before the start of March break. They had two days off this week for snow days and it could be a long weekend, we are getting a large winter storm here. They are calling for 40 cm of snow in the next day and a half.:sad2:
I wish we had a trip planed to Disney

This will be our first cruise. After everything I've read I don't think it will be our last!
We haven't told the girls about the trip yet. We are planing on surprising them the day before we leave. It is not easy, I've almost let it slip a few times.:rolleyes1 I'll have to talk to their teachers and pick up the school work they will miss as we are heading to Disney World for 7 days after the cruise. They have seen the planing video and are driving me crazy with wanting to go on a cruise. They are both Disney crazy.
I'm with your girls I am not a morning person. We are in a cat 4 so I'm thinking that I will be able to have my tea in my pj's on the veranda and I just might get to see a sunrise.

I haven't seen anything for 2008 Mousefest yet. And I keep checking!
We are dairy and cash crop farmers and are only able to travel in the winter. So it means taking the girls out of school. We are in a very rural area and the teachers are very supportive. It was a hard decission to talk my oldest out of high school for that length of time.

I am sure your dd's will be fine missing school in December. Mine are not in high school, but it seems to me that once the report cards go out at the beginning of December, not a lot gets done before January, and it will be a great opportunity for you to get away as a family, which I would assume is hard for you to do at other times.

The2princessesmom, we surprised our boys with our cruise in May 2006 the very day we left on the Magic. It was hard to keep quiet for 14 months, but so worth it when we saw their faces after they found out. It was our ds10's birthday (turning 9 the day of embarkation) and we handed him "one last present" which was the DCL booklet wrapped up. He was in utter shock and for the first few days he kept saying "I just can't believe we are on the Magic!"
I am taking our boys (7 and 10) down for a quick long weekend getaway to WDW in 16 days and can't wait. DH has to work and can't get off, but we really need it after the last 6 weeks. My ds10 was having shortness of breath/chest pains when running in gym and after x-rays and a CT was diagnosed with lymphoma. We were sent to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology for his care and luckily found out there the mass is most likely benign. He was on medication for a month and the mass has gone from a grapefruit size to a golf ball. He has another CT in a month and they are hoping it will be gone. He's been a real trooper through it all and is now back to most of his normal activities and playing baseball. Up until that day in gym he did not have one single symptom so it really floored us. An experience like this has really made us so much more grateful for our family's health, which we had taken for granted.
Jasmine8-- I have been to WDW dozens of times and cruised DCL 5 times and still can't sleep the night before a trip. I make spreadsheets of tentative plans for our trip and stock little trip items in my closet weeks in advance. I'm always flexible with changing the plans I make, but it's part of the excitement for me. Luckily I also get tons of calls from family and friends each year to help plan their trips which I love doing and helps keep the magic going.

Hanover- I'm glad to hear your son is doing so well now. I can't even imagine what the last few months have been like for your family. What a nice way to get away from everything with a few days at WDW.
My DSIL is going with her family DS2 and DH for their first Disney trip at the end of April. I have been helping her plan and I agree it helps keep the magic going. It has also let me be on the boards and my girls not question what I'm doing.:rolleyes1

It's been since 97 that I did the college program and honestly I don't remember any GPA requirement. All she'd have to do is show up to a college campus where interviews will be taking place, sit thru a long and very boring presentation, than have an on the spot interview. I got my letter I think 2-3 months after I interviewed. I think they except most applicants. I really liked living on the housing Disney provides but didn't like the fact that they garnish your wages before you get your check for the housing. I don't know how I lived off under $200 every two weeks. I only called home for money once, had no car not even a driver's license when I went. But I had the best roommates a person could have ever wanted. We all had the same personality with little differences here and there. Our apartment was the cleanest in all of Lake Buena Vista. The place was called Vista Way. But again if your daughter has questions or you do as a concerned mom about all that invovled let me know. There's also the college board on here with current CM's and potential CM's.

My goodness what a roller coaster ride the last couple of months must have been, I am so glad that things are looking up. We have be treating lymphoma in our family for 4 years, not anyone nearly as young, but it sure makes you change your outlook on life. I have been taking a week in December for the last couple of years to escape all those things, and this year I have this cruise to help with the escape. I wish you all the best, and I am sure the cruise will be extra special.

Those in charge of planning MF are just starting to think about it. Basically, the Sea part runs from 12/7 to 12/11, then the Land part takes over from 12/11 to 12/15. I've done the Land portion about three times, but this is my first MF cruise!

I've just started going over the various information available, and I bought the Passporter's guide (that's how I found this site). I was kind of interested in hopping over to the Atlantis in Nassau, then relaxing in Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay. I was also interested in the watercraft eco-tour and/or the stingray adventure!
I'm also excited to see the Toy Story show that will be on the Wonder as well, in addition to whatever the Mousefesters have planned.
I'm even thinking about coming in a couple of days early to have fun at the parks before heading back (though I'm still thinking about that...might even do it after to join in more MF events!)

I'm always flexible with changing the plans I make, but it's part of the excitement for me. Luckily I also get tons of calls from family and friends each year to help plan their trips which I love doing and helps keep the magic going.
It's great to hear that your son is doing better. How scary, but you know kids are amazing. He for sure deserves a get away.
I am also taking my boys (6&8) for a mini getaway in May. They were not ill but they dealt with my sis being diagnosed with a brain tumor and then losing their grandmother in a gas explosion. They have been so great through all of it my sister & I thought they so deserved a disney trip. they don't know about it yet and I am trying very hard to keep the secret but it is so hard.

For those flying have you booked flights yet?
I got a really cheap flight on Air Tran Buffalo to West Palm Beach for Dec 6,(never been there) so I will spend the day there and then drive to the port on Sunday AM, but I am having a hard time find suitable return flights. I guess I will have to wait for Jet Blue and Southwest to open up for December, anyone have an idea when that will be? I am hoping stay at DW for a couple of days after the cruise and fly back from Orlando.

I have checked fares for Dec. 5-16, because I'll fly down 2 days before and probably return home the day after the MouseFest land events end. Right now the fare on American from my hometown airport is $304. That's not a bad fare from here, but I'm also in no hurry to buy my ticket. It's after Thanksgiving and before Christmas, so the demand isn't as high for those dates.

I can't wait for this cruise either and I am looking forward to meeting everyone too. My sister and her husband are on a Carnival cruise right now and I am so jealous :) how I would like to be on a Disney Cruise right now.
Hanover - Wow how scary about your son. I am so glad that he is doing better. Here is some pixiedust: for you and your family and I hope everything continues to go well for him. He definitely deserves a little getaway to WDW.
Clara, I bet you are looking forward to your getaway in May too. I would have such a hard time keeping it a secret - but the look on their faces when you get there will definitely be worth it.:)
I hope the weather is finally starting to warm up for everyone. We got a taste of spring over the weekend with 60 degree weather.

I haven't booked yet...waiting on JetBlue to open up. But that probably won't happen until mid-May...at least that's been my experience the past few years.
We're arriving on Dec 6, staying at the Radisson, in Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral that night. Renting a car.

I have been checking flights too. Nothing up for JetBlue but the West Jet flights are listed out of Ottawa. Last time we took JetBlue out of Syracuse the price was great but we hit a big snow storm on our drive home and it took forever. Now we are trying to decide if we want to do that again or fly out of Ottawa.

I was thinking of visiting Atlantis too to see if I'd want to come back sometime. I just don't have much info on it yet. I guess as time passes I will gather more info on getting to Atlantis and what they allow DCL guest access to and what fees are involved. I will definitley be taking advatage of Serenity Bay though:cloud9:
I have read that the cheapest way to get passes to Atlantis is too rent a room at the Comfort Suites, which gives you full access to Atlantis. Here is a link that gives you 20% off Comfort Suites, my only concern with doing this is what if the ship does not dock, you would have to check out the cancellation policy.

Southwest is releasing flights through the end of October 2008 on 4/17/08.
We booked our flights in January for a quick WDW getaway on April 24th for $89. We have gotten Ding rates the last 5 years for every SW flight we've taken until now. In October we flew from BWI to MCO for $34 each way per person and in December flew for $54 and $65 pp. The 4/24 flight is now $199 one way and the flight back is $189. We booked our flights down to MCO in August for $89 and are hoping to get the flight back 9/1/08 for $89 too when they are released next week.
Thanks for the well wishes for my son. He had blood work today and we are hoping for good news tomorrow.

After posting yesterday that airfare on American from my hometown was $304 for Dec 5-16, now AirTran from Bloomington, IL (an hour away) to Orlando the same dates has come WAY down to $193! It had been higher than American.
*I should add that I had an $18 AirTran credit that expires May 22, so I bought my plane ticket for $175 for Dec. 4-16. :)

Ouch! Can you get a refund or a credit? We usually have an ongoing credit with Southwest from booking as soon as flights become available and then getting a ding rate/credit.

Ouch? The flights I booked had been $151 each way until yesterday, and that's why I was in no hurry to buy a ticket. Now they're $86 each way, which is a great fare from here. Yes, you can get a credit from AirTran - that's how I had an $18 one that had to be used by May 22. Refunds cost $75.
I had a $92 roundtrip fare from Indianapolis last November on Northwest, but by the time I drove 2 hours each way to the airport, stayed overnight in a hotel because of the early morning flight, and paid to park - the cost wasn't that much less than what I would've paid to fly from my home airport.

For once I didn't book the expensive flight - only to see it go down $100 on an airline that charges $100 to make any changes! (That was on American last Thanksgiving.)
Airtran flies out of Bloomingtom, IL (1 hour away with free parking) and Indianapolis (2 hours away and no free parking). Usually Airtran's fares from Indy are about $40 less each way than from Bloomington. But when I checked the fares from Indy for December, they were $88 each way - so it was a no-brainer to fly from the closer airport for less money.

That's awesome you can get free parking in Bloomington. I wish BWI had free parking. We do satellite parking for $6 a day from a deal we get online and I thought that was a great deal!
It's always my bad luck I book flights and the prices drop dramatically. At least SW gives credits if you cancel and we take advantage of every lower price we can get if they lower the flight costs. We have had up to $700 credit at times from getting ding rates. I am very lucky I got the $89 tickets in January for our trip in 2 weeks. My best friend and her kids are also going down to WDW at the same time on the same flights and she paid $108 just 2 days later and the flights have never reduced their prices that low. They are up to $199 and $189 each.

Isn't getting a great deal the best feeling? I just checked the costs for our 4/24 and 4/28 flights and the one down is now $214 and the one back is $175. They fluctuate prices so much, even during the day. I work from home so I'm lucky I can check often for deals.

Hi Taylor,
We were on the MouseFest cruise this last year and had a great time. Most of the events for MouseFest were free, but some did cost money. The ones we did were a tour of the Walt Disney Suite, door decoration contest, tree lighting ceremony, and my husband also did a Nassau City tour with Dave from Passporter books and other Mousefesters. These were all free, but I did have to sign up for the door decoration contest and Suite Tour ahead of time. They also had other activities that I didn't get a chance to do, but hope to this next time. As it gets closer to sailing, you can sign up on the MouseFest website. I think we signed up for the suite tour 2 months or so aheaad of time.
I also want to do a gift exchange. We also did this on our last cruise and we had so much fun. We did the gift exchanges on Mon. Tues and Wed. and had stockings on our doors or you could have fish extenders instead. There were 3 different groups of about 5 or 6 each, so we only had to buy gifts for 3 nights for just the group we were in. We exchanged items such as postcards from where we live, treats, toys, and pirate items for the children in our group, Christmas decorations/ornaments, snacks, handmade items, etc.....Are others interested in a gift exchange too? I know we did discuss it a little before. Does ayone have any other ideas on how to do the gift exchange or do you like the format we did?

I love how the ship is decorated this time of the year for Christmas. I actually didn't know what a fish extender was until a few months ago myself:confused3. :) There is like a metal fish next to your door that is up at about head level. Many times Disney will put mail in these fish holders. Some people have made what are called fish extenders that hang from these fish. They make them with pockets for mail, gifts, etc... Maybe someone will be able to post a picture for you, so that it will be easier to understand, than trying to understand my description of the extender  I know there are some threads on it on our boards that might be helpful. I hope that helps some. :)
You can decorate your door for fun or if you want to get in on the contest, sometime in the fall they have sign ups with the rules, etc for the door decoration contest. They have prizes for the top winners. We entered the contest knowing we probably wouldn't win , but it was just a lot of fun decorating it and getting into the spirit of things. I had just as much fun as the kids decorating our door.:cool1
My daughter Adriane is also enjoying talking to other kids who will be on this cruise too.

Hi Jodi and welcome:welcome:
My daughter Adriane has started a post/thread for kids cruisers for this cruise. I think it is called " Calling all kids cruisers for MouseFest cruise or Dec 7 cruise. " or something like that:) There are a few of them chatting on there. I do have son and daughter your daughters age though. (They aren't on my daughters thread since they really don't know how to write very well yet :) My daughter Stephanie will be 4 3/4 on this cruise and my son will have just turned 6 in September. I am sure they would be interested in getting to know your daughter. My son Zach enjoys going to the club, but Stephanie was a little shy about it this last year since she really didn't know anyone. That would be nice if she met someone ahead of time. If you want to PM me, I will give you our e-mail address, so that the kids can share stories, etc I will just help them write to your daughter . :)
A dolphin experience and ray feeding sounds like fun. My husband and older daughter did the dolphin encounter a couple years ago at Nassau and really liked it. Is that where you are planning on doing it at?

So I had some time to read about gift exchanges, and there appears to be many different ways to do them, but the main differences appear to me as:
1) Give a gift to every person who wants to participates any time during the cruise.
2) Split the participants into sub groups and then give out gifts to those rooms on different days.
What I suggest is I will get a list of people who are interested in particpating and then about 3 months prior we take a vote on how people want to do it. I would think it would be easier to make a decision based on the number of people involved.
I guess the con to giving to every person is if you have a large amount of participants then you may end up spending a fair amount of time delivering to all the rooms that may be all on different floors, and I am sure a 4 day cruise will be very busy.
Is everyone is ok with this? If not please let us know as I have never done a gift exchange before.
If you are interested let me know and I will start a list.

Having just returned from 8 days at WDW last night - I'm considering spending all my time there in December and skipping the cruise. I enjoy cruising, and I enjoyed my 4-day Wonder cruise in January, but I really prefer to get my Disney "fix" in the parks. Frankly - if I'm going to spend DCL prices on a cruise, I want it to go somewhere a little more exciting than Nassau and Castaway Cay. I haven't cancelled the cruise yet - but I'm leaning in that direction.

Nancy, I was the opposite, I was going to do 7 days in the park and then I realized that it was cheaper for me to do a 4 night cruise than 4 nights at the parks, once you factor in meals and park tickets, so I am doing a 4 nights cruise and 2 days in the park. I figure it will be the best on both worlds.
I am sure what ever you decide you will have a good time.

Hi everyone and to the newbies that have joined in. It's been a while since I've posted and wanted to say I just got back from a week long trip to Alaska. It was an okay trip. I have no plans of ever returning but glad to have atleast seen it to make the decision to not go back unless for a cruise. If you guys are interested in hearing about the trip and my take on it just say so. If not I won't bore you with the details of this non-disney trip. I have pics I need to upload to my photobucket acct as well.
NancyIL, sorry to see you have cancelled your cruise but atleast you know now what you really want to do and how to get your full disney fix.

Well for starters I was tagging along with my mom on her NAAN (Native American Alaskan N?) business conference. So that meant free hotel:banana: My plane ticket was almost $1,000. I had never flown to the west coast before and my back was hurting so bad from the 10hr flight on Alaska Airlines. We (my mom and I) laid over for an hour in Seattle. Luckily I rented a digeplayer to wtach movies during the first leg of my flight. A digeplayer is a dvd like device which Alaska air rents for $10 that has pre-loaded movies, shows, music, music videos, destination facts-history-local things to do, on them.
Day 1 - We we finally arrived at Ted Stevens airport in Anchorage I took some pics of a stuffed bear and muskox. The muskox is HUGE!
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc250/candyapplekc/Alaska%20Trip%202008/DSCF1141-1.jpg
Anyway we arrived at out hotel the Hilton. Gov't doesn't spare expense when putting up employees. We settled in and got a bite to eat. The weather was between 55-60 degrees most every day.
Day 2 - My mom when to her conference at 7am. I stayed in bed until 9:30, to catch up on sleep and the 4 hour time est difference. During the conference lunch break we went to a little deli around the corner and I had reindeer stew (like beef stew). It was just okay. The meat taste just like beef. I didn't enjoy the liquid of the stew though and I later was a little nauseated by it. I didn't eat dinner that day at all. I took this inside the Hilton.
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc250/candyapplekc/Alaska%20Trip%202008/DSCF1143-1.jpg
Days 3-5 - My mom continued with her conference and during lunch breaks we'd go to the gifts shops, walk up to the mall, take a cab all the way to 1 of 2 Walmarts in AK for cold cream, cause I forgot to bring the big jar. Her conference president invite me to join in conference and participate in the awards ceremony and banquet. Below My mom and me.
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc250/candyapplekc/Alaska%20Trip%202008/DSCF0049-3.jpg
Day 4 - Went to the Native American Alaskan Heritage Center for a guided tour of how early and current natives live. It was really nice and very informative. Our guides names was Rayne (sounds like rain). He could have been no more than 19 and was so adorable, funny, and articulate. Wished I'd gotten a pic of him. I learned that Russians had alot of influence in Alaskan culture. That would explain all of the Russian dolls I saw in the mall and gift shops. Russians would trade guns for furs. Today there are Russians that live up in Homer Alaska and have a very different way of living in respect to our way. Later for dinner a group of us went to the Sourdough Mining Co and the food was yum! ::yes:: BBQ is their specialty along with corn fritters and I ordered spare ribs that were huge! I couldn't eat all my food and most went into the trash :sad2:
Day 5 - My mom and I along with two others from the conference went on a whale watching tour. The bus picked us 4 up a 7:30 am along with others to take the 4 hr drive into Seward AK where the cruise would launch. Our driver was very knowledgeable of the land and towns. She kept us very entertained.....maybe too much. We were a sleepy group that morning and she wouldn't shutup. Anyway she pulled off road once to let us look at the Dahl sheep up on the mountain side. You could barley see them because they were so far up. All you could make out was 3 white specks on the dark colored mountain. We continued on and go into Seward and boared the cruise ship. The cabin was mostly an in-door vessel and was very warm. On this day the temp had dropped alot so you did need a heavy winter coat, scarf, gloves and hat :cold:. Below is a pic of me on the ship.

Included in the fee of the cruise was food and roundtrip ride from our hotel. We were given ceaser sald wraps, fruit cup, chips, soda, carrot paks, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Well needless to say no more than 20 min after I ate I began to feel ill  and it was downhill from there. During my illness I did get a few pics and video. I saw a seal, some sea lions, more sheep and eagles. Astime pass during the 4 hour long cruise I just got sicker by the minute and went below where the ship wasn't so rocky. You see the ships captain was getting very dissappointed that we hadn't seeen a whale for about 3 hours now and he took us much farther out of the arm than he should have and the waters were rocking:scared1: Well you know what happened next, I hurled up everything. The entire crew took really great care of me. They were always checking om me, getting me ginger ale and saltines. I didn't even want that cookie at this point and couldn't wait to get back to the dock. BTW we did see whales finally, well not me but the others. All I saw way a tale going back in the water from where I sat. The driver stopped at the only major grocery chain the town of Seward had and my mom got off to get me more ginger ale and saltines to take back to the hotel. I had been on ship, boats many times before but never gotten sick. Some others were complaining about feeling sick too. As we drove back our driver informed us that out of no where it had snowed over a foot in Anchorage. As we drove back into town it was a total white out. The last tally I had was over 2 and half feet had come down and it wasn't even finished. I was so glad to be back at the hotel to pack and get some rest. I was scared I was gonna be snowed in. I wanted to leave AK so badly since I didn't really have the greatest time there.

You're both welcomed! I was unsure whether or not to do the trip report on here since it's non-disney but mkmommy opened up the door and well I walked right on in :) I think I'd like to vivist Canada too. There was a rumor someone started about a CM saying Disney was gonna put one of the new ships in Alaska. Other diser's didn't really go for that and went in to explain why. I couldn't see DCL doing that either. I mean where would they visit along the way? I could see a Hawaii itinerary though ;) I would save up for that one. I could see DCL making a stop at all the islands and retuning to California or maybe to the Big Island.:beach:

You guys have been busy chatting! I need to check this thread more often because this is the first update I've had in my inbox in a couple of weeks.
We were at WDW 4/24-4/29. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Villas for 4 nights and Old Key West for 1 night. We had a great time. We went to all 4 main theme parks and Downtown Disney a couple of times.
We were on the Disney Dining Plan and mixed up old favorites with a couple of new choices. We loved Tusker House when it was a counter service and and this time tried Tusker House for breakfast and lunch now that it's a buffet. We enjoyed both of them a lot. My DH thought the lunch was one of the best buffets on property. We also tried out Hollywood and Vine's Play and Dine for lunch. That was good as well. The rest were old favorites and were also great: The Garden Grill and Liberty Tree Tavern for table service meals and Pizza Planet, Cosmic Rays, Sunshine Seasons and the food courts at AKL and Port Orleans Riverside for counter service meals.
We lucked out with several dreams from the dream team: We got dream fast passes at the Conservation Station at Animal Kingdom, dream fast passes at Hollywood Studios at One Man's Dream, dream ears in Epcot crossing the bridge from near Test Track to the Odyssey area, and were selected to open Animal Kingdom one morning. In our other 3 trips in the last year, we received fast dream fast passes once so we were very fortunate this trip.
We came back to have our DS10 have one more CT scan at Johns Hopkins to check the mass in his chest and it has now shrunk to the size of a pea with the rest of the shrinking mass forming strands of scar tissue. Much better than the bigger than a large grapefruit it was back in February. The mass can come back so he's going to be getting CT scans every few months for the forseeable future. He's now back to all normal activities which is great.
Both of our boys play baseball and it's keeping us very busy. They started the season April 19th and one of the two has had games every night of the week since.

To answer some of the questions I've read over the last couple of pages:
We have stayed at Coronado Springs a couple of times and really liked it a lot.
Our boys loved the pool and play areas. We liked the food court and also enjoyed renting bikes and riding around the lake area. We found it to be quiet and well maintained.
We did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter in 2/2005 and loved it. We've done dolphin encounters in Cozumel and Anguilla too and thought the one in Nassau was the best. On our 3 day cruise in 12/2006 we took a taxi to Atlantis, came back and walked the straw market and did the pirate museum. We are doing a 4 day in August with a double dip to Castaway Cay and probably will not get off the ship since we'll use that day to enjoy the ship (we won't have a sea day). In December we are considering doing the Atlantis Aquadventure. I would definitely consider doing the dolphin encounter again too. The water was a tad chilly when we were there in February and they did offer short sleeve/short lenght wet suits to wear.
We did the sting ray encounter at Castaway Cay this past December and really enjoyed it. Once we got off the ship we went straight to the ray area and sat at the beach area there until it was our turn at 10:00. The beach area around there was nice and pretty empty. We had a hammock and were really close to the Grouper game pavillion. Everyone in our group (they divide it into about 4 groups of 8 people) got to feed the rays a few times. We could also snorkel in the area too. We usually bring our own snorkel gear we bought at Sam's or Costco and spend the afternoon in the snorkel lagoon.
We would be interested in doing the fish extender exchange. I bought a FE directly from someone off of Ebay. She has a lot of listings/sold items and let me choose what I wanted. I paid $30 plus $5 shipping/handling. Several other members from our August cruise have bought items off of her too and they have all turned out great. I will post a picture of it:

Jazmine, thanks for the Alaska report and photos. My DH and I went on an Alaskan cruise last June, followed by a 9-day land trip with a rental car, and we loved it. However, Im sure it was MUCH warmer in June than in late April. I enjoyed Alaska so much that I'm returning in late July with friends - once again cruising and then doing a land trip.

Hey guys,
We just booked our flights for the way down to Orlando on 12/5/08. Air Tran is running a special where you can get $25 off for surbscribing to Net Escapes on their website if you book before Mother's Day. We got all 4 tickets with the taxes, etc and picked our seats ($6 each extra) for $278. We have 4 email addresses between our personal email and work email addresses so we got four $25 coupons. DH is now working on getting the return flight booked on 12/14/08.
thanks for the kind words on my son. I don't wish this experience with his tumor on anyone. Stressful and then some to say the least. I can't imagine anything worse than hearing a pediatrician say your child has lymphoma and has 2 hours to get to the hospital for chemo. Fortunately it looks like it's now benign and has responded remarkably to medication. We know how fortunate we really are and are forever grateful to our family and friends for all of the prayers.
I thought OKW was just ok. DH didn't care for it. I like the pool and dock area and the looks to the villas. I just thought the studio we stayed in was much more aged and dirty feeling than the studios we've stayed in at Animal Kingdom, the Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge. I'd stay there again, but it would't be my first choice. How did you like Pop Century? We will be staying there after our 4 day cruise in August because we got a great deal with free dining and can put the full ticket prices of our one day passes towards our annual pass renewals. We are actually going to get about $150 more and not use points than if we had paid for the dining plan while staying at AKV the same 4 days.
I did have a friend stay at SSR the same time as I was at AKV/OKW and she loved it and said everything felt so new and clean. Like I said, I'd stay at OKW again and would recommend trying it out. You never know, there could be much nicer refurbished rooms.
I'll have to find some of my pictures over the weekend from CSR and post them and also upload the ones from OKW.

We just stayed the night after the cruise in March, it was a great place to spend a day after a cruise. I was travelling alone with the girls and it was easy to keep track of the girls. We were going to stay at the Beach Club, but I decided that there was no way I would be able to keep track of the girls there, and since we werer leaving at 5:00 AM the price was right. Our plans were to go to DTD to spend the afternoon but the girls were having so much fun at the hotel we never left.
The room we stayed in was not that clean, if we were staying longer I would have moved.
I was impressed with the staff they were really nice. Disney service amazes me. I had bought some Webkinz clothes for the girls on line and had them deliverd to the Pop Century. Not 5 minutes after my youngest opened hers one of them went missing. One of the CM's say how upset my daughter was and spent a lot of time helping look for it. We did not find it but she gave my daughter a special pin to help her feel better. About a week after we got back a package from the Pop Century arrived, the CM had found the clothes the next day and sent them back to us.
I was able to book my flight on Air Tran, I can't believe the prices I got $44 Buf to West Palm Beach were I am spending Saturday and then return MCO to BUF for $55.
Happy Mother to all the mothers too.

Ok, I downloaded pictures from Coronado Springs in December 2006 and June 2007: http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb91/Romanoff1996/Coronado%20Springs%20Resort/
The room we had in June was huge--we were upgraded to a junior suite. The back of the doors said they could charge $800 a night for it! I got it for $164 with a AAA room only rate. When we got to the room, I couldn't get the door open and asked the mousekeeper nearby for help. She told me to try the other suite's door and we were floored/thrilled we got a suite!

We did have a great time but I am feeling really guilty about taking this cruise. DD7 gave me a mothers day card today, you are a great mom because:
3) You pick up my clothes
2) You give me big hugs
1) You took me on a Disney Cruise.
At least I have a cruise planned for them for March 09 so it will not be that long of a wait for them.

Lisa,
I'm sure all parents go through the same guilty feelings. I was only going to take DS6 (last year, he's 7 now) to Star Wars Weekends for 3 days in June last year. My ds10 (11 tomorrow!) is not at all into Star Wars, where as my younger son eats, sleeps and breathes it. Of course an hour after I had booked our flights, ds10 tells me how much fun it would be, etc. and I end up booking him too and adding a day before and after. I booked POR the first 3 days weeks earlier and could not get into POR so I had to do a value the first day and CSR the last day. Then I got to thinking that POR sleeps 5 and I could ask my best friend and her son to join us 3 days. He's an even bigger Star Wars fanatic and I knew she didn't have the money for the resort but had left over tickets from a previous trip and would only need to pay her food and air fare (we got a great ding rate). It wouldn't cost a penny more to add her at POR and she'd fly in the 2nd day we were there and fly home when we went to CSR the last day. We ended up having a great time. Of course that last day when we got bumped up to a junior suite, they could have stayed too but were already at the airport by the time I checked in (there was a huge king bed and a fold down maybe queen size bed). The boys and I could fit into the king bed with plenty of room and they could have slept in the queen. I thought of taking ds7 down for a weekend again this June, but I know that I'll end up adding days, my ds11, etc and we are heading back in August so we'll just wait.
DH and I went to his cousin's wedding in Sarasota 3 years ago. We were there a day early so decided to drive to MK for the day. It was the first time we were there without kids since our honeymoon. We missed them, but it was a great experience to be able to do rides we couldn't do with both of them at the same time because of their heights (we can now ride everything together but Rock and Rollercoaster) and shows they wouldn't care for, eat foods at restaurants they don't care for, etc.
There's nothing wrong with having "me" time and I think it makes the times with the kids that much better. I really would love to go on a 3 or 4 day with some of my adult girl friends. A few of them would like to cruise but are worried their kids wouldn't like the ship, shows, meals, etc. I think it would be a perfect opportunity for them to try it out and get to see a lot of the clubs, adult shows at night, lounge out at the adult pool, Palo, Serenity Bay and get a spa treatment or 2. I know I can do most of those with the kids along, but I tend to think of them half the time I am at the spa, Palo, the adult pool and worry if they are having fun in the clubs/lab (which they always are but I still worry). My boys LOVE cruising more than the parks and love the meals, shows, dance/pirate parties, kids club/lab, etc. but I just think it would be fun to experience an adults only vacation.

Hanover.
Thanks for the kind words, I know it is ok to have some me time, I do it every year, but I guess because they had so much fun on the Magic that it makes it harder.
I will just make sure not to talk about it around them, and it will not be long till they get to go.

My DP and I signed up for this cruise last summer when we were on the Magic Med cruise. Really looking forward to cruising again. I usually don't have a lot of time to read or respond on the boards due to a very busy schedule. I am a triathlete and between working and working out time is always at at a premium but was racing at the Ironman 70.3 triathlon race at Disney and was involved in a bike crash which resulted in a fracture of my collar bone:worried: . Surgery was done to repair so now am at home recuperating until the surgeon releases me to go back to work. My right arm is in a sling so having to type and do all with one hand.
This will be our 2nd 4 day cruise. Looking forward to a nice relaxing cruise.
We live in Celebration so visit Disney all the time. Love it.
Would be interested in meeting others that love Disney

Welcome aboard, hope that you are back to 100% soon, and that you are relaxing with your extra time, as I am sure training takes lots of time.
December is coming fast.
If anyone is thinking of staying at the Hyatt at MCO, this may help .
You may be able to get a Hyatt Stay Certificate for $135 that you buy before hand. :
https://www.certificates.hyatt.com/p...CertsStay.aspx
I did this for my March 09 cruise, make sure to call and see if you can book a room first and then go online and buy the certificate. Just checked Hyatt.com and the AAA rate is $159 plus tax for Dec. so it is not a great savings but for March it is almost $100 savings.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Have any of you ever played golf while in Nassau on one of these cruises? I see that there are two courses on Paradise Island one of which is at the Atlantis resort on two on the big island. Since we go ashore at 9:30 and don't leave until 5 it would appear there is plenty of time to get in 18 holes.
Thanks

We just booked this cruise. We have always wanted to see holiday decorations on the ship and CC. We had booked the 3 day Wonder cruise on 12/4/08 but I just found out I'll be taking an early retirement in July.:cool1: With more free time, we decided on this 4 day cruise instead.:woohoo: This will be our 11th DCL cruise. Good morning everyone.
And may I say welcome to all of the new cruisers here since I last posted.
Oh...and guess what?
The first 2008 MouseFest Newsletter sign up link is posted below at :
Welcome to the MouseFest Newsletter, an e-newsletter for everyone planning (or hoping) to join us at MouseFest 2008! The MouseFest newsletter is available by free subscription to anyone -- join at
http://www.mousefest.org/newsletter.asp
You have a choice of information and updates for the cruise or land portions or both this year.
You can also unsubscribe to the newsletter at any time, too.
Vist www.MouseFest.org if you would like to see last year's meet and information and photos and trip reports onboard the Disney Wonder Cruise ship.
A great chance to meet the founder of the website AllEars.com Deb Wills in person.
And to meet the founders of the website PassPorter.com Dave and Jennifer Marx.
They are just wonderful people, and they will be glad to sign their books for you.
I am sure this has been mentioned before, but most of the meets that will be scheduled will be open to anyone.
Just show up.
Some meets may require a head count if the host of the meet has limited space for meeting or if they are going to give out little gifts.
And if you plan your vacation through one of the sponsor agencies, they may have exclusive meets for their clients only.
And if a meet requires money to join, like parasailing on the island, then they will definitely require a head count and a payment to the Wonder.
But you can read all about that on last year's meets at www.MouseFest.org for 2007.
I just wanted to let you know that the 2008 MouseFest newsletter is just information and updates as they are completed and announced.
And most meets on the Wonder and on the land are simply made by an individual who wants to meet other Disney loving people like themselves.
Like one year I held a meet at the Wonder's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where Mickey and Minnie and Goof and Pluto sang songs and lit the Christmas Tree.
Sometimes they even make it snow over the tree.
I didn't ask for a headcount, but welcomed anyone that wanted to talk about it in a thread. It didn't cost anything. It was part of the Wonder program.
It was a great way to start the first evening.
Or one person, Ms. Diva...a beautiful, mysterious lady sponsored a walk around the deck one morning for Breast Cancer Awareness.
No cost, just meet for coffee, and have a fun walk around the deck with Ms. Diva and her pink boa and pink champayne sun glasses.
One company did sponsor a limited $5.00 per person that came to the meet to be donated to Breast Cancer and Deb Wills of AllEars.com.
I could go on and on.
But I hope that you get the idea.
Just like up planning a dinner or sailaway meet or gift exchange.
But with MouseFest announcements the people hosting the meets may be an individual, couple, family, or members from a variety of Disney websites.
If you have any questions or are to shy, just ask me any questions and I will try and get you an answer.
Well today is my Friday.
Yes, I just got home from work after all weekend.
So I am about ready to go to sleep.
Everyone welcome and have a great week.

Hi Clara,
I am so glad that you had a great trip to WDW. I bet the kids had a fun time. I bet they were really surprised too. :) I look forward to hearing about your trip. Our house is ok here with all the rain, though we did get some water in our basement this afternoon due to 3 more inches of rain. Ugg! There are so many fields and rivers flooded. It is so hard to believe. The small town we live close too, had some flooded roads and houses.
We need a break of rain here. We had a lot of flooded back in 1993 and they called that the year of the flood, but They are calling this even worse.
I have heard next week it is suppose to be nice, so lets hope so.
Talk to you soon!

First Vicki so glad to hear everything is ok where you are.
Ray thanks for the information.
So we have to be @ the airport at 6am. So I start to wake up the boys @ 4am, we stayed @ my sister's house since she is about 20 minutes from the airport. My little guy says "mom why are you waking me up when the sky is still purple" :rotfl2: Oh I say we are going on a special road trip today and we have to leave now. so off to the airport. Once there, thier faces were of total confusion.( They did not see us packing up the car with the suit cases). My older DS starts to ask "who is going away" so once my brother in law starts to unload the suit cases I explain to them how proud we are of them and how well they have handled such a difficult year and then the tears start rolling:worried: . I tried but it was so hard and then I tell them " WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY" and there was nothing just silence:confused: . oh oh may be they did not want to go. They just stood there with thier mouths open for a good two minutes and then.................... they started jumping up & down and screaming. and the questions where are we going first, can we buy some toys, I want to see mickey first etc, etc, etc,. The flight was great, the pilot got us there in 1hr. 50min. awesome more time @ the park today.
We arrive @ the hotel, get our key and off to our room, this place is huge so of course I got lost everyday trying to find my room :lmao: . We had decided to go to Epcot today. And so off we go to Epcot. the park was pleasantly not crowded, and it was only about 1pm. so we get on everything @ epcot and head over to the world showcase we walk around and stop @ almost every store:cool1: . The boys were amazed by it all and then it dawned on me that my younger DS had been on the cruise and not to the parks so this was his first trip to the parks and my older DS was only 15 months old when he went.
So now its 9pm and we are exhausted,::yes:: . So we go to the bus terminal to wait for the bus, and we wait :rolleyes1 and wait :rolleyes1 and wait :rolleyes1 and wait some more. we waited for 45 min, we were almost faling when the bus finally came. so when we get back to the hotel, my sister mentioned it to the person @ the front desk. They took her room # and said someone would be calling her.
We get back to the room and about 10 min later the transportaion manager calls my sister, she explained that she just thought a 45 min was a little to long to wait and they agreed. The transpostation manager said she was going to find out what happened and call us back in the morning,
The boys took a nice refreshing shower and off to bed. My crazy sister at that hour decides we have to decorate the window and the room and off to decorate she goes.
More to come

So we get up and are getting ready when the phone rings and its the transportation manager to tell us that "Bob" our driver is downstairs waiting for us. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Awesome. So Bob takes us to Hollywood studios.
Again the lines were very short and the adults out numbered the kids. This is great. We are done in a few hours since we skippied the fast rides, like tower of terror and the rock N roll coaster.
We get back to the hotel and its was hot so we decided to hit the pool and have lunch there. Oh boy the pool is beautiful. We were there for a couple of hours. We head back to the room and get dressed for the pirates and princess party @ Magic Kingdom. Again the park was not crowded. We got to see alot of characters got autograghs did the rides, saw the parade had some ice cream Mickey Bars Oh yeah life is gpod. :cool2: .
We stay until midnight and then head back to the room, exhausted excited but exhausted.

Hi Clara,
The rain has let up here for a few days, which is good. Our basement is drying up, as well as some of the fields around here, but there is still flooding in some areas.
I really enjoy reading your trip report. It sounds like you all are having a great time and I look forward to reading the rest of your report :goodvibes
You are so lucky that the parks weren't very crowded. I enjoyed looking at your Disney pictures too. How long were you there for? I bet seeing your kids faces as you told them about the trip was something you will never forget. I would have such a hard time keeping it a secret, but seeing their faces when you surprised them would be so worth it.
We are plannning a trip this Aug to WDW and are getting really excited. It was kind of the spur of the moment thing. We are going to be staying at Ft. Wilderness cabins and are going to go to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I haven't been to Magic Kingdom since I was around 12 years old. We are driving down there. We are hoping to take my mother along, as my father just passed away from congestive heart failure 2 weeks ago. He had had a hard winter, but we thought with summer coming that he would be alright, but he had a fall due to low blood pressure on Memorial Day and just went down hill from there. It was so sad to see my dad in the hospital and not be able to do anything for him - except make him comfortable. I know my mom is having a hard time with my dad gone and we thought that maybe in a couple of months we could take her to WDW with us to help ease her pain and hopefully get her mind off of things for a while. I am not sure that she will want to go or not, but we are hoping that she will go along with us.
I look forward to the rest of your report!!!!!:thumbsup2

Oh Vicki
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know how hard it is, not being able to help them, its such a horrible feeling, and you just want the doctors to get them better and send them home.
I think it would be good for your mom to get away. My father in law moved in with us, and it is heartbreaking to watch him he is just so sad all the time. We try are best to keep him busy but after 55 years together, he is just inconsolable. So stay strong even though it may be hard and it will be and some days will be just horrible, but as long as you all are there for each other things will be manageable.

OK so today we are off to Animal Kingdom. We head straight for the Safari, but the wait was already @ almost 2 hours and teh fast pass was not much better. So we do the 3D movie" its tough to be a bug" and it is hilarious to watch my little during the movie. Although he did not think it was funny :rotfl: .
WE spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon at the park.
We then head back to the hotel and head to the pool for a little while.
And in the evening we went back to the Magic Kingdom and Oh boy was it crowded. I got a little spoiled with the parks not being crowded. Well tonight made up for it.
We walked around and di some more rides and watch the Electric parade, it so awesome, you just feel like a kid watching it.
and again we stayed until Midnight and head back to the hotel to to to to PACK :faint: oh no do we realy have to leave.

Such a sad morning. But we get up and go to Animal Kingdom for breakfast with the Characters. The boys loved it and after breakfast we try the Safari again, the wait is alot less so we do the Safari and the boys were fascinated, by the Safari and keep talking about doing it again when we go in December.
And as we get ready to leave we have one more Mickey icecream Pop.
We then head back to the hotel to wait for the bus to take us to the airport.
And well now we are home just wishing it was December 4th.

Hi! I’m new to this cruising thing. I went on 1 short one as part of my honeymoon, but that was almost 1 years ago and it wasn’t Disney. It’s going to me and my DD(5) cruising. I love WDW and thought the cruise would be fun. Ok..technically Georgia(my DD) and I were watching the travel channel and saw the Disney cruise and she has become obsessed with it. We went to WDW in Jan 2007, so I thought the cruise would be fun.
My excuse is that with all the times I’ve been to WDW, I’ve never gone at Christmas. So we are going to the park for a few days before and 1 after. Plus we are going smack in the middle of DD and my birthdays. So this will be our birthday vacation (hey I’ll take any excuse to go to disney). I’m dying to learn more about the whole cruising thing. Plus, last holiday season was we were not feeling in the mood to be in the holiday spirit. It was the first holiday season since my husband passed away. So this year I figured we need something different to help us get in the mood, or at the very least to escape for a bit. So I would really LOVE any tips to make this trip extra special for my daughter!!!
Thanks!

Welcome aboard, I am so sorry about the loss of your husband, and I hope that this Christmas will be better. Your daughter will love the cruise, DCL is a great vacation to travel alone with kids, if you have time skim through my trip report (link in my signature), we travelled alone this past March and all my girls talk about is going back. This Decemeber cruise I am going alone, but I am taking them back in March 09.
We are having a Christmas Fish Extender gift exchange and I am sure your daughter would love that, so hoepfully you will join us for this.
The DIS board is great for planning, and with so much information you will not feel lost when you board the ship in December, please make sure to ask lots of questions, as someone always has the answer.

Has anybody been able to confirm a date for Mousefest gathering for MVMCP? I've heard that in the past it has been the firsy day of the land portion which would be Dec. 11th, but that's a premium price night. My wife and I want to attend, but are trying to pin down the date.

Hi Maura, and welcome. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. Cruising when all the Christmas decorations are up is awesome. This will be our 3rd December cruise and we really enjoy them, especially since it's always freezing at home that time of year. When are your birthdays? Mine's on the 7th. There's nothing better than being on DCL on your birthday! Last year, mine was while we were at Castaway Cay. My husband got me a cabana massage on Serenity Bay and I couldn't imagine being anywhere better.
I'm not sure about MVMCP/mousefest. We are going on the 12th because I thought my kids would be too tired on the 11th after getting off the ship early. We've been to MVMCP twice before and loved it, especially the parade.
My ds7 and I just had a quick WDW trip 6/13-6/17. I had not planned on taking him this year for Star Wars weekends, but then a $54 ding rate came out and I got a Annual Pass discount on a room at Pop. We are DVC members, but I couldn't get in any one resort for all 4 nights so went with Pop. DS11 and my DH stayed home and did some museums in DC and went to Hershey Park. It was quite hot and very crowded compared to most of our past trips, but we had a great time. We really loved Toy Story Mania at DHS. I highly recommend getting fast passes as soon as possible, as they were gone by noon each of the 3 times we were at DHS.
We enjoyed the Pop Century resort and had great bus transportation. We went to Animal Kingdom 6/13, DHS on 6/14 & 6/15, MK on 6/16 and hopped between Epcot and DHS on 6/17 before flying home. We did the Disney dining plan and had meals at Tusker House, Hollywood and Vine, 50's Prime Time Cafe and Liberty Tree Tavern. We had been to all of them before and they were all great once again. I was pretty lucky to get TS ADR's 10 days from our trip.
I did not tell DS7 about the trip until we were 5 minutes from the aiport. That morning, I told him we were going to visit an old friend and go on a safari. He was wearing his little safari outfilt he just had to buy when we were at WDW in April. When we were close to the airport, I handed him a letter from "Mickey" inviting him down for Star Wars Weekends. I had everything packed up in his suitcase covered in the trunk and told him the old friend was Mickey and the safari was at AK. He was thrilled. He got lot of attention at AK in his little uniform ---a VIP private safari tour with just us and the driver, another front seat safari trip (skipping the stand by and fast pass lines), a pin and a stuffed giraffe. Here are some pictures (a lot actually) that we took on our trip: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=11ts6mtz.2db2t09z&x=0&h=1&y=-a2d7gs&localeid=en_US
You don't have to join the kodak site to see them, just double click on the picture and then double click on the next page's picture.

Southwest released their prices through January and looking at the days we are flying in/out of MCO, it would be $1400 for the 4 of us. I'm glad we booked through Air Tran with that Mother's Day special for $644 round trip (non- stop) for the 4 of us!

Has anybody been able to confirm a date for Mousefest gathering for MVMCP? I've heard that in the past it has been the firsy day of the land portion which would be Dec. 11th, but that's a premium price night. My wife and I want to attend, but are trying to pin down the date.
According to all the MouseFest stuff I've seen, they (MF planners) haven't yet decided. Deb Wills who used to host the MVMCP meet has said she just can't do it again this year..getting off the ship and then hurrying to host the meet is just too much. So..it seems they are thinking of doing it either the 11th, with different hosts or on the 14th...but noting official. There are no reduced prices for any of the parties during that time frame....seems Disney got smart. So, we pay full price for any of them during MF. I know a lot are still going on Thursday night, but there is a growing group heading to the party on Sunday night. I'm leaning towards Sunday myself. I'm going to be pooped after getting up so early Thursday morning and leaving the ship, then heading to WDW and getting settled. An earlier night might not be a bad thing.

Thanks Everyone! My birthday is 11/28 and my DD is 12/26. So this will be kind of in the middle of them both. We are looking forward to it all. I've never been to MVMCP, or on the cruise. I can't wait to learn all about it. What's Mousefest. Apparently our trip is right in the middle, but I had no idea. Also, what's a Fish Extender exchange?

A fish Extender gift exchange is a way of passing the Disney magic around fellow DIS cruisers, we will have a list of people who want to join in the fun and then each cabin will deliver a small gift to each person's fish extender.
Here is a link that might help, and I think there are some pictures.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607
I am making a list for our cruise so let me know if you would like to join in. Once we get closer to the cruise we will come up with the finer details, at the moment I think we only have about 8-10 families wanting to join.
I will let someone else explain Mousefest.

I just can't wait until December.
I've cruised several times, but this is my first Mousefest cruise.:dance3: :dance3:
I want to do it all. I want to do meets. I want a fish extender. I want to decorate my door. I want to do dinner. I want to parasail. :cheer2: :dance3:
I want to do Secret Santa.:santa: I want to sailaway and dance. :cool1:
I want to walk around Nassau with Dave and Jennifer. :goodvibes I want to walk around the deck with Deb. :yay:
Is it December yet??:santa: Sure feels like it!! If this is spring, I'm in big trouble...;)
I am so with Ya. Infact you and I are cruising together!!! :cool1:
Yep, we are staying at ASMo for two nights, then cruising, then staying at Pop for six days.
I am getting so excited. :hyper: We talk about this cruise all the time. We plan and replan everything. I am making our fish extender. I am having my son help with the door magnets. I have even broken down and bought two swimsuits.:woohoo:
Just one question???

For those flying have you booked flights yet?
I got a really cheap flight on Air Tran Buffalo to West Palm Beach for Dec 6,(never been there) so I will spend the day there and then drive to the port on Sunday AM, but I am having a hard time find suitable return flights. I guess I will have to wait for Jet Blue and Southwest to open up for December, anyone have an idea when that will be? I am hoping stay at DW for a couple of days after the cruise and fly back from Orlando.
Lisa
My friend Steffy and I just got our tickets for the flight down. It ended up being $88 per person one way. Three hours later the price went up by over 100% We are watching for a good price for the flight home.

Hello everyone, I wanted to join in the celebrations. We just booked our cruise and are so excited. This will be our second cruise on the Wonder, but our first during the holidays. I can't wait to see the ship all decorated for Christmas.
It will be me, my DH, and DD(2). Well, I just wanted to introduce myself and start joining in on the chatting. Did I mention how excited I am!!!!

MouseFest is a gathering of Disney fanatics from various sites. It is not an official, Disney sanctioned type thing. Various Disney guidebook authors help plan it, and folks plan different meets and events throughout WDW from Dec 11-15 or so. There is also a group of MouseFest people that are on this particular cruise. They will arrange various 'meets' and activities. Some will be open to anyone passing by, while others may be limited to those who register for the meet/event in advance.

What's a fish extender?? :confused3
A fish extender is a shoe pocket type hanging. It goes over the 'fish' that is outside your stateroom door. Many people make their own fish extenders...they sew pockets onto a long piece of fabric (maybe 2' long or so)..there can be any number of pockets depending on the lenght. The extender is about 9" wide. You can put a dowel through the top with a hanger on it to put over the 'fish' by your door. Then, others who are so inclined can drop little gifts or notes into the pockets as they pass your door.
I have my fabric bought but have yet to start putting it together yet.

Hi everyone! We just booked this cruise a few days ago and I'm so happy to see that some of our fellow cruisers are posting on the DIS!
We would love to join the exchange! I still have my fish extender from our last cruise (I just have to find it!) My in-laws are joining us too. They are not very computer savvy, so I'll find out if they want to participate and let you know.
Well, all I really read so far is about the gift exchange so I better get busy catching up on this thread!

Just FYI if anyone is thinking about booking a dayroom at the Comfort Inn to get passes for Atlantis it looks like they have lowered their prices, last time I looked it was over $200 but today it was $120 plus taxes.
