YIPPEEE, just booked for this cruise. Got everything I wanted - category & dining.
Now to count the days.:cool1:
So everyone knows - the meet is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Promenade lounge. I"m sorry I won't be able to make it but I'm sure we'll all have a blast on this cruise.
You'll know my room by all of the signs on Deck 8 :-))).

We're getting ready to book this cruise--and I'm already starting to get excited. We're planning on 10 adults and 3 active little boys. Our 1st Disney cruise was spring break 2007 and unfortunately this will be the same itinerary. But that doesn't matter much when you're on the Magic!

We have 5 staterooms full of people so far going :-)). It seems like forever til it gets here, but at least it gives me time to pay a little bit here and there so the cost isn't so overwhelming.

Just booked my daughter, SIL & grandsons' stateroom - two weeks until my husband and I can. It's been a few years since we cruised Disney and I can't wait to go again! We've never cruised with a grandchild so young(he'll be 20 months old.) I'm going to have to start researching - the good thing is that my DH & I have been to these ports numerous times(except Grand Cayman - we've never been able to tender because of rough seas) so we won't mind chilling with the baby.

Hi Dawne, welcome aboard!
My grandson will be about 13 months old when we cruise. Last time we had a 3 year old and a 5 year old so this will be a new experience for us too. Luckily we have 9 loving adults traveling with us so there should usually be someone to hang out with Riley. But if you come upon any great tips for cruising Disney with a baby, do share! Shari

We just booked this cruise and are incredibly, incredibly, beyond words excited. I actually ran out of my dorm screaming with excitement when I found out. It will be me, 18 year old guy, and my parents. We even managed to snag one of the secret port hole rooms which was really exciting. Looking forward to sailing with all of you. :cool1:
We just booked this cruise yesterday - excited to be cruising DCL again - it's been a couple of years:cool1: :woohoo:

We're actually taking this cruise to celebrate my 17 year old son's graduation :-). If you see a big kid (I know he's pretty much an adult now but he'll always be my kid) having to wear Mickey grad ears at one of the dinners, that's us :-)

Count me in. We were on the March 8th Western cruise last year. This year we are celebrating my successful treatment and recovery from breast cancer.
That is WONDERFUL - what a great celebration. Can't believe it's 112 days away. My final payment is due pretty soon and then we can finally start looking at shore excursions.
We're trying to get a WDW trip in the week before, hoping that will work out.:cool1: :yay: :yay:

We canceled the cruise because we were able to take all the grandkids, mommies & daddies to DisneyWorld with the 4/3 promo - today I found an even better price on the 7 day western, May 30th. Now just my DH and I will be sailing the ocean blue. Hope everyone has a great vacation!

Good going disneyfaninaz! I just signed up for a shore excursion. However Palo reservations on-line are only for 1-2 or 3-4 people. I was hoping to get a table for 6 or 9 of us. I guess I have to wait until we're on board for that. We had no trouble last time getting the reservaton for 6 once we were on board.

Grabbed all of the Palo ressies we wanted thanks to a very kind supervisor at DCL. Our travel agent didn't submit payment when we asked her to so 90 days came and we couldn't book. The supervisor sent an email to reservations asking them to hold spots for us and when our reservation was paid we found everything we had asked for. Gotta love DCL service. Doing the GPS walking tour in Key West and just exploring the other ports on our own, Key West is the only new one for us. Just a few months. :cool1:

Hey Wendy--
I see you on some of the creative boards. Are you making door signs or tee shirts for your cruise?
I haven't done door signs or tee shirts before, but I'm planning both for this cruise. I'm making the 1st iron-on tee shirts today. Hope they turn out! Then my daughter-in-law and I are going to attempt tie-dye shirts for all 12 people in our group.
Last trip my 8 year old grandson was envious of other people's door signs, So this time I told him we will make some together and surprise everyone else.
We'll have 4 staterooms to put them on.
It's been fun so far--I hope I'm happy with the finished projects!
disneyfaninaz
01-02-2009, 03:19 PM
Actually I have made several door magnets. I am making them for our neighbors' door as well. I wanted to make shirts, but everybody is baulking at wearing matching shirts. I may make some for myself and my DD to wear. Haven't decided yet.
I had a lot of fun searching the boards for different ideas and graphics. I'm looking forward to printing them out.
I'm looking forward to seeing who decorates their doors on this cruise.
Wow, 4 doors is a lot. I hope you are happy with them as well!
Finally got around to making our ressies - got most of what we wanted (not bad since booking so late!) We also booked Coronado Springs for the week following the cruise...yeah!

Just under 2 months left to go. Now that all of the Xmas stuff is put away, I can start concentrating on the cruise. I started printing out my magnets yesterday. I've decided to do shirts for myself, my DD, my DNW and DNDD2. Hopefully that will come out alright.

I got really carried away with the shirt making! I think I have made over a dozen now for my 3 grandsons--and as birthday gifts for 2 of their friends who are not cruising but like Disney and Star Wars designs from the DIS boards anyway. They turned out so cute I just couldn't stop! I've done a couple of magnets so far and I'm not getting carried away doing them. (I will not get carried away...I will not get carried away!) Since our group has four cabins, I thought one on each cabin door would be sufficient.
I'm counting down the days now! Shari

45 more days and we'll be on the ship!

last time that I talked to Disney they said that our cruise was only about 60% full.. that would be nice if it stays like that :) it would be a nice relaxing trip!!!
disneyfaninaz
01-23-2009, 05:43 PM
That doesn't surprise me considering cruise rates have stayed the same and there are still space available in just about every category. Yes, a little less full ship would be nice.
wow - not a full ship would be nice! ::yes:: Actually we're hoping for an upgrade (we're willing to pay for it) but our TA had to put us on a waitlist. We're Cat. 6 right now, thinking of trying out a suite if one becomes available:scratchin
Does anyone know (or know where to get) the prices for room service beverages, such as wine and the 24-pk of water. We're travelling with a 5-month old and thought bottled water would be best to make her bottles. Alternately, thinking of using the water from the drink station - anyone travelled with such a young'n before??:confused3 Tips would be welcome:)
Also - does anyone know what movies will be showing onboard??:confused3
disneyfaninaz
01-31-2009, 11:56 AM
MTH -
You can buy a case of Evian water for $35 dollars once you board. They will deliver a case to your stateroom. There are stations everywhere once you board to sign up. However, the water on the ship is purified almost better than bottled water. Don't know about the wine package, sorry.
The latest Disney releases will be shown. I imagine you can see Bolt, Jo Bros Movie, and Wall-E.
Just 5 more weeks to go!!!
EPCOTgrl1
02-02-2009, 08:24 PM
The water that you get at dinner and everywhere else for that matter, unless it is bottled, is from the cruise line "tap". I also think that they can store water on the ship. They are not taking it from the ocean and cleaning it.

Actually they are taking water from the ocean and cleaning it. All cruise ships use desalinization and purification systems for their onboard water. But the water is incredibly safe to drink and the safety of the water is one of the parts of the ship inspected by US authorities.

Hi everyone
This is our first disney cruise. I have heard some chatter about upgrades and any of the veterans provide more details on this.
Cheers, :cool1:
disneyfaninaz
02-07-2009, 10:47 AM
Hi, welcome aboard.
Upgrades are a mysterious thing. About 30 days before sail date DCL starts fulfilling guarantee reservations. In order to get them all filled, some people may get an upgrade, others may not. There is no special formula or rhyme or reason to how upgrades are given.
I usually select a room that I will be happy in so I don't have to count on getting an upgrade. However, if the ship is not full, there may be upgrade opportunities available at check in for a discounted rate.

So since we are within a month of the cruise now, I was just wondering if anybody is interested in setting up a DIS meet. There aren't that many of us, but it would still be a good time. Good meet times are always 2:30-3pm the first day or 10-11am Key West day since we don't get into port till later.

Yep, the CM site is called the Hub and we go there to get ALL the information that we need... like when we are working, to pick up extra hours, see what is going on around all the Disney Parks and there is also a place where you can get discounts cruises and hotels. You have to be a CM to get onto the site. It was part of your training to get a name and password.
But because I am doing it that way I have not received any of my documents yet... Hopefully they will come soon.

Hi Wendy & all,
I've only made one magnet for each door, but I'm thinking of getting more magnet paper this week. I went overboard on the tee shirts though! You all will be able to see us coming! My daughter-in-law and I just finished tie-dye tees with a Mikey head on the front for our whole group of 12. If you see us around, stop & say "I read about you on the internet." My husband will love it. LOL. And my 3 grandsons each have plenty of iron-on tees with their names & Disney characters. It's been a fun way to prepare for the cruise!
I see all of the tickers are saying 19 days this morning! We're still waiting for docs. Guess I'll have to make more magnets to fill up the time til they arrive. :rotfl2: Shari

We booked this cruise on Feb. 6 for our VERY FIRST cruise!! I pinch myself every day to realize that my very first cruise is a DISNEY cruise! It's just my husband and myself, as we are sort of empty nesters (youngest is at college). The Michigan winter has been long and dreary, and we're ready for some sun and warmth. I'd love to meet up with you all!
Do you all book shore excursions? Or do you play it by ear? We figure we can just wander and have fun in Key West, but we don't know what to do about Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Any suggestions?
See you soon!

hi! We are not taking the excursions from Cruise. I researched on internet and have some in mind from each port. It's cheaper to do on your own. Disney will send you a book with all excusions or you can see them online what's offered on each stop. We are probably going to Stingray City in Grand Cayman and Swim with Dolphins in Cozumel along with shopping and beach time in each location! Hope this helps.....

I have printed out all of my magnets. I just have to laminate and put magnets on the ones that were'nt printed on magnet paper. I have 4 t-shirts yet to put together as well. My group didn't want to wear matching t-shirts but I convinced my DNW, DNDD2 and my DD to wear one with me.
I'm hoping to hear from my TA today about our cruise docs. Hopefully they will be in this week.

Do you all book shore excursions? Or do you play it by ear? We figure we can just wander and have fun in Key West, but we don't know what to do about Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Any suggestions?
See you soon!

WELCOME TO YOUR VERY FIRST CRUISE!!!! We are also "sort of" empty nesters, too, although we bring our 31 year old disabled son with us when we cruise. Oh, we'll have lots of fun!

If anyone has any tips or information on cruising, we as 1st timers would be very appreciated!!!!!!
Ladies I see you speak of door magnets you are making at home. How do they work and what do they look like. Im a litle bit crafty and perhaps I could pull this off for something I could do.
With only 11 days, If you could spare any time with any info we would be greatful.

The first tip I have is remember that it is a vacation. There is a lot to do but that doesn't mean that you have to do it all. Just relax and have a good time. The second tip that I have is if you are planning to do any excursions check and see if you can get it somewhere off the island for a little cheaper.

That is a link that shows examples of cruise magnets and some doors that have been decorated. The doors are metal so magnets will stick. I use magnet paper that goes through the inkjet printer. There are not a lot of doors on board decorated--it is just an extra fun thing to do. My grandson saw a decorated door on our last cruise & was jealous, so he & I are making magnets as a surprise for the rest of the family this time.
We are having a meet at 3pm Saturday in the Promenade Lounge and everyone is invited. It should give you a chance to meet other DISers.

I do not think it is that full because the space availible discount is still there for cast members. I was orginally going to do the 4 night and the space available rate was gone about 2 weeks ago. And it is not sold out yet either. but I guess we will all see sooon......11 days :)
Also I booked like 2 weeks ago. but I hope they come soon if not we can always get them at the port right?

You can fill out all of your documents online. However, the mailed package is important because it contains your luggage tags.
We also booked about 2 weeks ago. According to DCL, my documents were prepared on Friday, and should have been mailed out today. My last two sets of documents were sent UPS, and will probably arrive very soon.
(The irony of it all is that I live probably 2 miles from where I think they are prepared and mailed out... but yet, the documents will have to travel through the UPS sorting system before they can get to me)
disneyfaninaz
02-24-2009, 10:57 PM
Yes, you do need to fill out your forms online (saves time at the port). Don't worry if you don't get your tags, since you're not flying its not that big of a deal as you can get luggage tags from the porters at the port.

thtrmike... I would say make enough copies for everyone. I know that would like to be at the DIS meet but we don't know what time we are getting to the ship. We have a few stops to make before we make it to the cruise. We are going to be a little cheap and go to the liquor store to get some wine for dinner... and maybe some other types of drink so we don't have to spend a lot of money one the ship just for drinking....

My DD went to see the Jonas Bros 3D movie :3dglasses on Friday, but I don't think she'll be seeing it onboard. She's more into Hannah Montana and only went because a friend asked her.
I finished my T-Shirts, they look pretty good, if I do say so myself. ;)
Now all I have left to do is :laundy: and packing! Well I do have a few other things this week yet. I am selling Girl Scout cookies at our local grocery store today, then I have a Girl Scout Leaders meeting on Tuesday night, a Brownie meeting after school on Wednesday and couple of appointments during the week before we can head to the airport on Friday. :drive: If anything, keeping busy will help make the time go by faster. :thumbsup2

Hey I'm in room 5000 with my sister and her friend. I'm not sure what room number my parents got. Something like 5624. I'll find out though. I'm not sure if I will get an extender. But any magnets anyone has that wants to put on our door feel free. I might be passing out a few magnets as well. By the way, I'm Andrew and live in Kansas City. We leave Thursday!

I stopped by Hobby Lobby today & got 2 canvas bags as fish extenders for my 2 grandsons, age 8 & 5. I'm sure they'll enjoy it (no princess rings though). The bags were even 2 for 1.
I think the above list is up-to-date. Six cabin numbers so far & maybe more will know at our meet. I plan to print the list out for myself Friday morning before we leave so I'll know where to drop all my little goodies. See you all soon.

Just a note... for the ADULTS... we have an AWESOME team taking care of us.... Club Host Tisa and DJ Dan!! If you have never seen Match Your Mate (or even if you have) you have to see Tisa hosting this show! She is a HOOT!! :thumbsup2
Also, we need a BIG crowd for Krazy Karaoke. Not sure what night it is... but come one and come all! Highlight of the night will surely be me embarrassing myself singing Sweet Caroline! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We will definitely look for you. My DD became BFF with a girl from Canada traveling with her mother and sister last year on our cruise. They became inseperable by the end of the week. In fact, they are boarding the Magic the day we leave, so we are meeting up with them at their hotel at the port.
My DD really enjoyed the cruise a lot more with a friend and hopes to find a friend this year too.

Hey there! Just 20 more hours and we'll all be boarding!!! Yay! Can't wait.
Am at the airport in Providence, checked in, and ready to go. Unfortunately, Southwest isn't ready to go. The plane we were supposed to go on had an engine fail on it's way in and they are flying another plane in for us. Two hour delay at this point. Groan. At least they have finally opened up an airport bar to help pass the time away.

Good thing you were smart enough to fly down today, instead of tomorrow.
When I went on my first cruise back in the early 90s, we flew Logan to Miami day of. Similar situation, our aircraft had an engine problem. They put us on another flight to Atlanta, but that flight had a crew that was stuck in Cincinatti. Long story short, we ended up just barely making it, only because the cruise line actually held the ship (there were like 50 of us, and all had purchased air through the cruise line)
Lesson learned... Move to Orlando and cruise out of Port Canaveral. :)

Thanks for the pictures wdwjan. I always love seeing the same cruise I was on through someone else's eyes. After the meet, I don't think we ever ran into anyone again. But thank you all for wondering way down to deck 2 to deposit things in my grandson's bags. They loved all the surprises. I'm listening to thtrmike's CD now as I try to edit some of my photos.
Magnet thieves must have been rampant on night 2. Every magnet that did not have our name on it disappeared. Luckily they did leave all the personalized magnets.

I actually put little tags on mine and my friend did as well saying:
Stolen From Stateroom ____. If found please return me to my door.
That was suggested on one of the magnet boards. In case little kids took them the parents would hopefully ask where did you get that and they would see. But on my friend's door, the magnet stolen was at the top of her door so it had to be an adult or teen.

CapeCodRob, I was on the same flight as you going down. We were so disappointed that our flight was delayed leaving. We missed our Boma dinner reservation. :( Oh well, I guess it's better they found the problem before takeoff rather than when we were in the air!
