We set the cut off date as the 10th of September. I know I have enough items that I could add on another room of people, but I don't know about others. :confused3

I started pulling dresses together and suck...we are going to start packing this weekend...I HAVE to get it done and have to get it so that we have minimal other things...the dresses and costumes alone will consume a suitcase.

Unfortunately, I did the information off of what was on the list when I printed it on the 10th of September...I just pulled out my printoff and your name was not on there.
If the other people swapping have extras of items and are able to include you I am fine with that, but I am not sure that everyone will.
And there were many posts right about the 10th to 15th of September confirming participants.

I've taken bottles of wine tightly packed in my suitcase from the west coast of Canada to the UK and nothing broken. But I should have packed them in a dry bag at least. Bubble wrap inside a dry bag, perhaps? Not speaking from experience with this idea.

Hi! I have a daughter who will be 9 in November. We've been on 2 Disney Wonder cruises before but have never used the kids' club. She's very suspicious that we're going to try to "dump" her (I know that sounds bad, and I'm not sure why she feels that way. She's an only child that normally gets included in everything we do, and I think that makes her think that it's not normal for her to do activities on her own. It's kind of funny that she's so suspicious!), so if she could meet some buddies, I think that would really help. We're going to visit the kids' club the first night. My daughter's name is Lauren. We have the late dinner seating (another first and I'm not happy) so we'll probably stop by pretty late. If you'd like to meet up earlier, we'll definitely be at the Goofy pool first thing after boarding! Just let me know!
Hi Laurensmom! We can meet at the goofy pool after boarding as well. We did that last time and the kids enjoyed it! My girls are Bailey(10) and Ellie (9)

We leave a week from tomorrow! Woo!
I've had a packing list done for months, and last Saturday printed out a copy for everyone in the family, had them highlight their stuff, figure out what needs to be bought, and took care of it over the weekend. The suitcases come out on Saturday. Temps are dropping here, so it shouldn't be a problem to set the summer clothes aside. College fair night happens the night before we leave, so stuff must be done so that DD can attend!
I am fighting mightily against getting a cold these last few days. I went into work this morning because I have a high-priority project, and my boss told me he had someone else cover it for me and suggested that I take my germs home. I couldn't leave fast enough. Zicam, fluids and rest are on my agenda for the next few days. Hey, at least it's not the flu!

My son got an ear infection last Friday. He has been on antibiotics for almost a week and still complains that it hurts. I may be taking him back to the doctor to get something else if it has not cleared. I cannot take him on a plane that way. Been through that before on another trip. Realized he had an ear infection the day after we flew when he was crying in pain continuously. There is so much going around the schools right now (strep, flu, etc.) I hope the rest of us can stay well.

For those of you fighting colds, have you tried the product called Emergen-C? I love this stuff and drink it everytime I travel, provides an excellent boost of energy not to many lots of Vitamin C with many other vitamins. I have had to travel a lot this summer for work, with lots of airplane rides w/ people fighting colds, many hotel rooms, etc. and luckily I never got sick. I have two boxes on my packing table waiting for the trip. Hope all of you get over your colds so you can enjoy the cruise!!

Hey, my DH and I will arrive at WDW on 10/2/09 - 10/10/09, staying at the GF (we got a really good special at 40% off the GF about 3 weeks ago, all I can say is wow. I just happened to be on the WDW sight, saw the advertisement in a little corner of their main webpage and quickly called the Disney reservation line and booked! This will never happen again, but hopefully the GF is worth the hype right up!

DD3 (almost 19 months) woke up with a runny nose today. She was fussy yesterday I suspect she had the sore throat yesterday. by noon today my throat was hurting and nose running. All I got from DH was 'Yes! you won't be sick when we go away, now go and get the other 2 kids sick".
I'm going to see if we get Emergen-C up here in Canada.

I'm sorry to hear your son has fallen ill, Meredith. My daughter use to get chronic ear infections and when they weren't clearing up on meds, we had to switch her meds. So, it may just be that he's built up an immunity to whatever antibiotic they're giving him. :confused3
We've been having minor little tragedies, ourselves, the past couple of weeks. 2 weeks ago, DD fell and hit the back of her head - had to get 5 staples. Night before last, our A/C unit started making horrible noises. :scared1: Can't really live without an A/C in Phoenix so have the repair guy coming out.
I'm not stressing though. I just keep running the "I'm on a Boat" song through my head and we're all good!! :thumbsup2 7 days from today, my family and I will be on a plane!!

Ugh sorry for everyone with the sick kiddos and injuries. Hoping they recover quickly.
Got our kid their regular flu shots about a week ago. But so much crud going around here and lots and lots of H1N1. Two of my kids have had it, the rest didn't get it and it's been a month, so who knows? With my dd having just had the cardiac surgery I am more paranoid than normal.
We also do the airborne tabs and I think they help. They even have the powdered ones for kids.
I feel stupid, don't know what the I'm on a boat song is :)
Like everyone else, getting excited here. Hoping to catch up from last week so we can pack this weekend.
Happy thoughts to everyone.

Here you go, Jeanne:
yes it is indeed an actual song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u8lc6_pAqE&feature=email
that is a censored version of the song paired up to a video someone made this year on the DCL...i almost fell over laughing, i posted this video before, but for those who missed it, here you go!
(And it is censored, but no problem knowing what the words actually are; use discretion with the younger kiddos. An improvement would have been to figure out alternate words and say them instead, say, Magic Disney boat, ahem)

:yay:
the Grand Floridian is absolutely worth the hype...trust me...its amazing...i hear the cast members that work day shift at the grand floridian cafe are a couple of crazy people who love to be on boats as much as you all do :P

Here you go, Jeanne:
(And it is censored, but no problem knowing what the words actually are; use discretion with the younger kiddos. An improvement would have been to figure out alternate words and say them instead, say, Magic Disney boat, ahem)
That is hysterically funny and now I wanna put in on our iPods (censored for kiddos of course). Thanks :)

Too funny!! If we eat breakfast at the GF the morning of the 4th (we actually arrive the 3rd, had a typo earlier) we will look for that person who is planning on wearing a t-shirt resembling a ship or the partner in crime for something that won't get out of my head.:rolleyes1
We move to the concerige club level on Sunday, that was the special at 40% off. Any tips?
One more work day!!!!! Then I have to pack, my dining room table is going to collapse!!!

Hey Anj, I am sorry to hear you got germs from the DH, (usually how I get sick to).
If you happen to find Emergenc-C, I prefer the super orange or tangerine flavor the best.

I'll definitely be looking for the shirt! I'm getting so excited! I just booked Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party today and the countdown is on! Lauren's kind of hit or miss with boys. She's got lots of friends who are boys, but seems to prefer girls. I think if I don't make any kind of deal about it, she's okay with the boys. We'll be on the lookout for you!

We'll be around the pools in the afternoon and then in the kid's club in the evening. Looking forward to a fantastic trip!
I didn't find the Emergen-C today, but I only went to 1 pharmacy. I bought some very spicy Thai food instead, that's DH's alltime cure - hot food.
I also got Advil cold and flu and some hot drink for tonight. I actually don't feel too bad (hopefully not famous last words) and DD3 is starting to get better (her nose isn't very runny today).

Perfect!!!! I've been on a business trip and haven't been checking this site, but it looks like we're going to have a nice group of girls on the trip. Looking forward to it! See you by the Goofy pool! Because, you know, the Mickey pool is so uncool for 8 year olds.....

Okay, we're a week out. Time for battle plans. Everyone needs to get Emergen-C and 100 gallons of hand sanitizer. We have a pact that Lauren will not touch anyone, drink after anyone, share lunch, and that she'll use hand sanitizer throughout the day (but of course, who knows how that goes?) and wash her hands thoroughly when she gets home. H1N1 is rampant here in Kentucky right now. School is out for fall break until Wednesday, so we're thinking she might be pretty safe. Hubby and I are being crazy germ-a-phobes (not at all normal for us) until next Friday. Everyone stay safe and well, and we look forward to seeing you on the Magic!

for the record....your all welcome for getting that song stuck in your heads!!!! :P :rotfl::rotfl:
and guess what came in the mail today????? my IM ON A BOAT T-SHIRT!!! so BOOOYEEAAAAAAAHHHHH now you will all easily find myself and liz on the first day....look for the tallish kind of goofy looking guy in blue shorts and an "im on a boat" tshirt.....walking up to me with a beer in hand is more than an acceptable form of greeting :P (jk)
Yes, thank you for getting the song stuck in my head. :sad2: I think it really upsets my DS (15) and he announces how uncool I make the song.
And what if I see you in the cruise terminal? I won't have a beer in hand, yet.
Are there instructions for making magnets/art for the doors?
Anyone else doing intro scuba on St Thomas with DS's 14 and 11?
If you visit the Creative Disigns thread, you can get some ideas about magnets for the door. I have laminated mine with clear contact paper.

Thanks for the well wishes for Dalton. I think he is getting better. I just hope we all stay healthy now.
I think we have decided to rent a car in St. Croix. It will cut down on taxi costs for 8 of us. Since we are doing this, we will probably hit the Rum Distillery later in the day. Has anyone contacted them about tours from the link someone left before?
I just watched the "I'm on a Boat" link and it is Great! It looks like those guys had a blast.
We leave a week from tomorrow!:cheer2: I wish we were going to MNSSHP but hubby wanted to skip it this year. :confused3 Hopefully, we can get up that much earlier and get to the ship since we will not be partying all night. We are still staying in Orlando Friday night.

H1N1 is rampant here in Florida too. All of them have friends who have/had it very recently. Not much we can do about it but hope for the best and keep washing the hands. My two kids with hayfever/chronic cough/allergy stuff both have appts with ENT next week and I am getting notes from him that they are NOT sick and have chronic allergic rhinitis and seasonal allergies so the cast members don't think they are carrying some bug/virus. Because, sometimes they sure cough like they do.
My dd8 and dd6 (almost 7) will be thrilled to find other little girls to hang out with. Hope to find a buddy for my ds 6 (almost 7).
Anyone that wants cell number, just pm me. We live close to port and probably going to be there around 10:30. Sooner if the kids dentist is running on time :) our rooms aren't close together and hope to see if anything else has opened up to put them closer. Would love it if kids meet up at port. Mine usually don't do the club/lab the first evening as it can be kind of crazy but will definately be on the other days.
I know my dd13 has made one cruise connection already and is thrilled with that.
Booking so late we weren't able to get a Palo ressie so have to try and do that once we board but then will head to Goofy Pool. Hoping they have to make us a Palo ressie since we are Platinum we are supposed to get a freebie. Anyone else have to try and book Palo once they board?
Look for the frazzled parents chasing five kiddos, we are easy to spot at port and probably my little ones will be dressed alike. We will try for lime green.
Hoping everyone gets healthy, stays healthy and gets ready to cruise and enjoy the Magic.
Getting close :)
H1N1 is up here too, my best friend is just getting over it. Luckily for me, I haven't seen her for a few weeks due to busy schedules. I bought more hand sanitizer at the pharmacy today to bring, although I suspect there is a lot on the ship, right? Up here, they have hand sanitizers at entrances to most public places (malls, grocery stores, library). DH keeps one in his car.
We'll be leaving the MCO Hyatt as soon as we can in the morning, hoping to get on the ship as early as possible. Then we need to try to get Palo ressies, then we plan to get some food and go to the pool too. We'll be the family with 3 little girls who kind of look like sisters but all have different hair colours. I suspect that I will dress them in Canada t-shirts (red and white).

I am not planning on bringing candy. My thought process was that it was going to be a Disney event that they put on, so the candy would already be there. I didn't get the sense from the Disney letter that we ought to bring candy...?

Anyone who goes to MNSSHP will have enough candy for everyone on the boat, lol. Quick tip, at the end of the night, go up to one of the candy stations (always seems to work at Alice's Treat Trail very well) and tell them that your child lost their candy bag...on a ride or whatever, they will usually fill a bag up for you, they try to empty the bins towards the end of the night. My son and I together came home with 50 lbs of candy last year. Yes, we weighed it.

Stressed here. Dd18 has to return to cardiologist here in Florida in next couple of days for a cardiac cath (unplanned after last weeks surgery). Her docs said get it done and take her with us she will get more rest than going back to college. Downside is she is in nursing school and there is no making up even when you are sick.
Called travel agent who called DCL and they were able to add her on but no quad occupancy rooms in our category so we went down to a cat 9 and its a GTY status but she will be on the ship with us and we are still able to go on the cruise so all works out well. No fees for any of the changes, and no additional cost out of pocket. We purchased an insurance policy that will cover her totally and that was 49 bucks. They also moved us to early dining so she can maintain her medication schedule.
Boy we need a cruise.
I'm not a drinker but thinking to take a nice bottle or two of wine to enjoy on the ship. If we get through this week at my house I will need it. Dh doesn't get home until Wednesday night so not much gonna get accomplished before then unless it involves dds cardiology stuff.
Happy thoughts to everyone.
Hope everyone else gets done their packing and that kiddos are all getting over being sick. And boy we are close to sailing!
Sorry to hear about the unplanned cath Jeanne, I hope she gets loads of rest on the cruise.

Camyle, hope your trip down is easy and enjoy your time at Disney. You will be ready to relax on the cruise!
Thanks all for well wishes for my dd. She has reached her max stress level to be able to function and the cruise will do her some good. So glad DCL was able to add her and not charge us to change anything. No room assignment though but on the ship is on the ship! She hates getting the cardiac cath so sooner they do that this week the better. Gonna make her travel arrangements now.
Mostly finished Halloween costumes for kids, none for me and dh since I have already gone through two fingers on the sewing machine this week and need the rest of them intact to function. Guess I should figure out something for Dd18? What is everyone else doing for costumes?
Hope everyone is enjoying beautiful weather and everyone heading this way we have a great weather forecast for this whole week.
Happy thoughts and hope no one else has gotten sick and those who were have gotten better.
Have rescheduled our dental appts for next Saturday so going to get to port at 10:00 a.m. sharp when they open the lot to park the cars. Who's with us on the early bird to port arrival plan? It can be like a mini meet :)

as far as costumes i have a tshirt that has a "ghostbuster" uniform on it, so thats the extent of my costumes...costumes i have done in the past wouldnt be deemed as "disney appropriate" as some have been quite gory but thats neither here nor there :rotfl:

DS wakes up this AM and tells me his throat hurts. :headache: I have now given him Airborne and an allergy tablet. As soon as he takes the allergy tablet he says, "Do you get aches with allergies?" :scared1: I know there is strep going around our valley.. He had said to me earlier, "At least it's not the day before the cruise." Except, what does that mean for the rest of us??
DD and I ran errands this morning..got singles for tips (was worried the guy at the bank would think I'm a strip club junkie), exchanged some sunglasses, and got Airborne at CVS.
Now it's time to do laundry!! :laundy::laundy::laundy: Lots and lots and lots and lots of laundry!!!
Tomorrow, we're supposed to go see Toy Story 1 and 2 in the theater. My kids are HUGE fans of Toy Story and I have to say, I'm quite fond of the movie myself. But if DS is sick, we aren't going. :headache::mad:
He still has a week to get better and most likely will be fine by Saturday. My Dh, DD2 and DD1 haven't caught what DD3 and I have, and we're getting over it now. I've been fanatically washing everyone's hands, I'm surprised that they aren't red raw!

Turns out that a boy my son played t-ball with years ago, and is in his Spanish class is also going to be on this cruise. What a small world! That makes another family from Chandler, Arizona. Maybe we should get some kind of discount!

DS did Wild Side when we sailed 2 years ago. He doesn't want to do it this time, which I don't understand but he said something about saving my money. The only thing he has said about his Wild Side experience was struggling to paddle the kayak in the ocean. :confused3

Thanks
My teens have done Wild Side a few times. They like it best when they have made friends on the ship during the week and all go and have a blast.
My girls like the kayaking and biking part, find the snorkeling pretty boring as it is just the snorkel lagoon and when a bunch of teens are in there goofing off it gets pretty cloudy and my girls say they never see much. They give the kids a powerade and they eat lunch together when it's done.
They are not going to do it this time but it is something they like but not something over the top :)

Trying to finalize the St Croix plans. Does anyone know if you can take a taxi on your own to Caramboia Resort Beach or Davis Bay? It looks like the resort there covers the whole beach.
Was planing to take the taxi to Cane Bay Beach but Davis Bay looks very nice from Google Earth.

Ugh I am never gonna get everything done by Saturday. Probably I will be throwing stuff in the suitcases Friday night if I get any further behind it will be Saturday morning.
DCL called this a.m. and asked what night we wanted Palo dinner (we are platinum so get a freebie). Was worried we wouldn't get a ressie cause we booked last minute and everything online is full. They gave us pick of any night and time so anyone who still doesn't have Palo and needs to get it on board bet you will not have any trouble.
We picked Sunday evening. Anyone else there then?
Still no St. Croix plans for us but we would also like to know if you can taxi to any of the resorts there or if we have to do the Disney excursion thing (not my first choice).

Well, finished most of our packing yesterday. Our pirate "gear" took up one whole suitcase! But with us attending MNSSHP, we'll get good use out of it this year.
I decided not to pack our FE as I never got on the list for that part of the planning. I'm just excited to be going at all considering the monumental medical "emergencies" over the last 6 weeks!
Since our aunt had to cancel, and this trip was to show her The Magic (and her first cruise), we've decided not to rush to the port on Saturday. We're staying at AKL and want to enjoy the resort. So we've arranged for the van service to pick us up at 11 a.m. Hey, maybe this time when we get onboard we'll be able to dump our stuff in our stateroom BEFORE we go to lunch :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! Glad to see I am not the only one that feels stressed about getting everything together before we leave. I have to have it all done by Thursday night as we fly out early (6:00am) Friday. I will probably be up until 2:00am still packing and worried if I have everything. I also still need to come up with Halloween costumes for the kids. It is great they are celebrating on the ship but just adds to the preparation.
That is good to hear about Palo. We are hoping to get Brunch reservations. Right now I have reservations on Thursday night for my husband and I as our 14 year anniversary is on Oct. 21 so I thought we would celebrate. I may cancel them though because I do not want to miss the show that night and I do not want to go to the earlier show because the kids will be in dinner at that time. Palo reservations are for 8:30pm.
I do have some other questions I hope someone can help me with. First, what does everyone plan to wear for semi-formal night (for the adults and kids)? I have been on other cruises but it was always 2 formal nights. Second, what are the picture sizes from Shutters?
Thanks,
Meredith

Meredith: for this cruise we decided not to bring the formal formal stuff. I packed a black skirt with a dressy sparkly blouse for formal, and a little less dressy blouse for semi. Casual nights I am wearing capris or linen slacks with tropical blouses.
I checked on weather.com and the forecast for St. Thomas is rain every day next week! St. Croix is showing sunny for Tuesday.

No FE for us for the first time ever and the kids are gonna miss it but we booked so late. And in the same boat with all the medical stuff, we truly are very lucky to be getting on the ship so unless I can recycle some old magnets we will be going plain this trip :)
AKL is our favorite resort and we would probably be doing the same thing, wouldn't want to miss a minute of it, the whole environment there is so relaxing :)
I have to be packed by Thursday too, as we leave early Friday. Actually, DH has to be packed on Wednesday as he's out Thursday evening. Wednesday is my big packing/cleaning/finish things up day.
Formal & semi formal night - I am wearing knee length black and white dresses in an easy to pack fabric. My girls will be more dressed up than I am as they each have a taffeta dress to wear (with summer sandals, no dressy shoes). DH says he is packing his suit, however we no longer have a garment bag, so I do not know how he plans to complete this feat.
Thanks for the info on Palo, we have no reservations and would like to have a dinner or brunch there.
Thanks also for the rain info on St. Thomas, silly me I had assumed that it would be sunny and we'd do a beach day. I haven't read anything about what to do on St. Thomas if the weather is poor.

Congrats on the anniversary. Oh good you just reminded me about Palo brunch, it's our favorite and I had forgotten we need try and get that one once onboard :)
I am taking two cocktail dresses, one for formal, one for semi. Dh doing suit and my son always wears a tux he loves it (little crazy I know). My girls wear a variety of dresses from prom, homecoming dressy to princess to sundress types for formal/semi formal. You will see EVERYTHING. Dh used to always rent a tux, was much easier than bringing the suit, but we see less and less tuxes on each cruise. Dh and I will be wearing jeans with pirate Ts on pirate night because I am not packing pirate stuff for me and him this time. Need room for the kids Halloween costumes and I am not taking any more stuff than I have to.
Shutters pix are 6 x 8, 8 x 10, post card sized and you can get a family package reprint with 5 x 7s and wallets too. Just about anything really but the standards are 6 x 8 and 8 x 10. Plenty of packages and options and plenty of opportunities to get photos taken. If you don't like the picture they will crop it for you, reprint it and add or remove a border if you don't like it.
Make sure bring sweater or something for everyone as it can be quite cold in the Walt Disney Theater at night during shows.

They sell nice frames on board too and most arent very expensive. When we have gotten the family pack or whatever they call it that had wallets and 4x6 or 5x7 often they have made us buy it in the 8x10 first. This really varies on who is there and who you talk to. One thing we have found lacking on the cruise is consistency in Shutters as to what you can and cannot get so if you don't get the answer you want, go ask someone else later. Don't wait til the last night to get your pictures, it can be quite busy. When you get 8x10s you can also buy the folio thing (fancy looking picture holder) that it goes in but I forgot how much these are.

Has anyone ever done the Bon Voyage packages through Disney? I would not normally do something like this but this is the kids first cruise and thought it might be fun to have something special for them in the cabin. I was thinking either the decorations w/cake or the chocolate covered strawberries, petit fours and sparkling cider package. Or, possibly both. If you did the the one with the strawberries and petit fours, how many do you get with an order?

My son loves chocotale covered strawberries. It would be a real treat as he does not get them often. That is why I looked at getting that package. I do not want to get only 2 of them or something because that would be a let down. I am hoping someone has gotten it before. I may post this question on the main board.

According to Weather.com:
Tropical Storm Henri has formed in the Atlantic well east of the Leeward Islands. Maximun sustained winds are 40 mph and the storm is moving to the WNW at 15 mph. Henri is not expected to intensify or affect any islands. Southwesterly shear aloft will tend to tear the storm apart and it may only last for 24 to 36 hours.

Just dug out our rain ponchos and small umbrellas and threw them in the suitcase! In St. Thomas we're scheduled for the Coral World and Scenic Drive tour. At least if it rains, we're inside most of the time. However, afterwards we were planning on walking to the butterfly farm and checking that out. I guess it depends on how hard it's raining.
Now the weather for St. Croix and St. Thomas is showing rain and/or isolated thunderstorms every single day next week :sad2: In St. Croix we have a walking tour scheduled -- hope the rain holds off for that one!
In seven cruises, we've only had one rainy day at Castaway Cay -- it got so bad with lightening that they closed down at 2 p.m. and left the island early!
The FE gift exchange sounds like fun. Maybe next time. We did decide to bring our FE just to decorate our doorway, and my DH did find our envelope of door decorations (piratey stuff) and magnets. So that's good. In the past we have actually brought tropical decorations for inside the room (our room steward loved it), but not this time.
After spending the WHOLE weekend packing, I discovered yesterday that with the luggage tags on Magical Express, they can't guaranty our luggage will be there in time for us to get our costumes for the MNSSHP that night. So I had to repack all the costume gear into a carry on (we really do not want to do baggage claim). It worked out, just didn't want to bring a small suitcase on the plane -- but oh well. Fit our bathing suits too in case we want to take a dip in the pool before heading out to the party.
Did I read somewhere that there is a thread with magnet graphs that can be printed?

We have matching embarkation shirts every cruise -- it's become a tradition. They are different colors, but the same design on the front. It looks so great in the pics to be matching. Each year we pick a different one off the Disney shopping, or make our own.

I scheduled myself in to work tomorrow so I can't stress about work on the trip and also so I can't stress about last minute stuff to do. Although right after I finish work tomorrow, my girls and I are going to the mall to find me a new bathing suit and sunglasses (my Claudia (age 4) broke my fav. pair and Veronica (age 6) snapped hers in half yesterday.

I started my kids on Airborne on Tuesday. When I brought it out Wednesday morning, I thought they were going to run away from home. They really disliked the taste and we had some words. My stress level was too high to listen to complaints from them. They finally drank some after I did. Now I have to get some in them tomorrow.
I am doing laundry at midnight and have several loads left. We are running around trying to get my son's Halloween costume together. Plus, we still have cheer and football practice Thursday night. Our flight is at 6:00am on Friday. I do not know how I will get it all done. I see lots of sleeping by the pool the first day at sea because I am not getting any now.

In reviewing our flight info for tomorrow, we now have to leave 1/2 an hour earlier than we thought to get to the airport. I don't know why I'm going to bother going to bed right now. I'm just going to toss and turn and toss and turn. I cannot believe my DD is sleeping right now.

I finally have everything together (well, I think I have everything together). I have a few last minute items that need to be put in the suitcases, and a load of laundry in the washer (which is not going in any suitcase), but otherwise everything is done. I am sooooooo tired, but too wound up to sleep. We leave tomorrow afternoon.

Oh no, whose flight is messed up?
Sure hope it gets straightened out.
We are playing it lazy today and will pack tomorrow.
Will be home until 930 Saturday til we head to port, so message me if someone needs something close to port and I can give you a cell number. Would leave earlier but since we are parking on their lot and they never open the parking gate until ten there is no sense in making dh drive in circles til they let us in (did that before and it didn't make him too happy lol) But we will be there at 10! Want to get that vacation started and try to get my rooms on the same deck or at least closer decks, 2 and 6 is not a good combo :)
High School Football game tonight and ribs on the grill,
Happy thoughts,

Hey everyone - we'll be on the ship with you - we just haven't been on to chat! This is our 2nd cruise - my husband and I along with our two girls, ages 11 and 9. I did all the planning last time and was on the DIS boards ALL the time. This time, my husband did the planning, so I haven't been active on here. Just had to give a shout out to SCHACHTELES and say that we are right down the road from you - Rosemount! Small world.
Also, did anyone get a call from Disney today? We got the upgrade we were hoping so strongly for...from a cat 8 to a cat 5. We are lovin' Disney right about now!
See you all there - safe travels!

Was anyone able to get pictures with BOTH the Wonder and Magic when they were leaving? I wasn't able to get both in the pictures and was very disappointed, it sure was a surprise to see the Wonder there in the morning. We were talking with our dining room manager and all the crew from the Magic was invited over from 12-3 to check out the Wonder out since it just drydocked, but they were told that they were WAY behind...not good since it sets sail this morning!!
The fish extenders were a great time, hope everyone liked their goodies! Same goes for the secret Mickeys!!

DH came down with the flu :mad:the first night of the cruise. He spent basically all of the first 4 days in the cabin until he was fever free so not much fun for him. He was pretty miserable. Myself and the 2 kids stayed well despite being in the same cabin with him...knock on wood..so far.
St. Croix was beautiful. We ended up going to the Carabala Beach Break since DH couldn't go. I felt better being on a DCL sponsored excursion since it was just me and 2 small children. It was very pricey but stunning. Perfect weather in St. Croix too! The beach there was so beautiful and it was nice to alternate between the beach and the resort pool.
So glad to be home. We are all very tired. I did rebook while we were on board for Oct 2010...DCL # 8.
I'll type more later. Heading to the grocery store now. Wish work and school didn't start tomorrow.

PalmFam, BaxFam and Jaxsmom08 - what a delight it was to be included in the FE exchange by you. I had no idea how thrilling my girls would find it. You made our trip so special, you have no idea and I can't express my thanks enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you! They loved everything you dropped off and we've been listening to the CD all week in the car (with 3 kids, we're in the car a lot). What a great way to remember the trip.
Sounds like a lot of people got sick. Our tablemates, 3 of 5 of them were sick within the last couple of day of the cruise and we noticed a lot of people coughing. My daughters got sick once we got home, my 4 year old and 6 year old with a stomach virus of some sort.
We ended up doing no excursions at all. In St. Criox, we just walked to the beach at the end of the pier and the kids had a great time, even when it rained. At St. Thomas, my older girls didn't want to leave the ship, so DH, myself and our little one (19 months old) walked around the port area shops for a couple of hours and went back to the ship. Castaway Cay, our excursion was cancelled (like many) due to the swells. But we had a fantastic time on the beach, was that ever gorgeous, eh?!
We ended up staying on west coast time, so our port times were limited as Natalia did have big naps by late afternoon. So we got up and off the ship later than the majority and we were back on the ship earlier than all aboard time, except at CC (where we tried to stay out as long as possible, as Natalia napped on a lounger).
We did do the martini tasting, DH did the beer tasting and the girls and I did the Mad Hatter tea. DH liked the beer tasting and we enjoyed the Mad Hatter tea, especially the cookies.

All of our group managed to stay healthy and had a great cruise.
We snorkeled in both St Croix and St Thomas. Being from a landlocked state, we don't get the opportunity much, and I really enjoyed both locations, loved seeing turtles, fish and coral. I was beat when I returned from the St Croix excursion, but did stroll the port shops in St Thomas in the pouring rain, looking for a magnet and a pin. I'm not much of a shopper.
DD16/17 had a very nice birthday onboard. She was thrilled that we'd be in Animator's Palate on show night for her birthday, and our servers presented her with a beautiful cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to her, and she opened a few gifts back in the cabin.
I rarely saw DD14 - she headed for the stack and stayed there all day whenever possible. She was selected to be a contestant for Mickey Mania by getting the CM's attention - yes, she DOES have healthy lungs! My DD and our good friend were the Purple Plutos, and won the competition with 550 points :)
We tried valiantly to become contestants on Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer, but alas, nada. We had a fairly large group, and volunteered our knowledge during the Ask-the-Audience lifelines loudly and enthusiastically. One of the questions was really off-the-wall weird and we were discussing it quietly amongst ourselves. One of the CMs flashed us a 3 with his fingers and told us to make some noise when the contestant decided to ask the audience. Yeah, we made a ton of noise, the contestant won the round, and collected her prize. Our CM smiled at us and set Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer pins for all of us on the table, then made sure we knew the next ask-the-audience question too. That was more fun than sitting in the hot seat!
We rebooked onboard for Alaska in 2011. DD14 is very excited because apparently a bunch of her new friends from the stack are also on the same sailing.

I am sorry that we did not get to meet up with you all on embarkation day. It was a little crazy that day. We were meeting my mom, sister and her 2 girls that afternoon as well. They drove in that day from Georgia and we flew in the night before.
We rented a car in St. Croix and drove around a bit. We went to Chrisiansted but did not stay long. We went to Cane Bay next and stayed about an hour. It was much smaller than I thought it would be. We drove up into the hills looking for a Geo Cache for my sister but did not have any luck. Then we went to the Rum Factory and had a great time and walked back on board with a lot of rum.
St. Thomas we did the morning Doubloon Sail and Snorkel. Then we ate lunch on the ship during the rain and went to town later to shop.
My son was one of the contestants on Who Wants to Be a Mousketeer. I went up with him and he had some hard questions. I knew all the answers before he went up. I felt a little silly being stumped. He did win his round though.
My sister and I also went to the Martini Tasting. We went on Sunday. She was the one that made the Martini.
We had a great time. We booked a dummy cruise because we were not sure what we wanted to do next or our schedule.

We were on the early Doubloon sail and snorkel too. I loved our location and I was the last one to get out of the water.

We were on the early doubloum snorkel too. We had a very good time...except on the way there when my DD got sea sick.

Texas Girl, Were you sitting in the back of the boat? I think you and I talked. You talked about bring Dramamine. I remember your daughter. It was a little rough. Our kids were feeling a little off as well. I kept getting them Sprite. We were a group of 8 sitting on the Port side and some in the middle. It was myself, my husband, my sister, my mom and 4 kids (3 girls 10-12, and 1 boy 7). My son sat in the front on the way there. We enjoyed it too. I loved seeing the turtles.

Both my husband and daughter helped to raise the sails, DH on the way there, DD on the way back. I wish I'd known who the DISers were! We had candied ginger with us, and did have to use it on the second night when we were doing a lot of rocking. It tastes nasty, but it really does work like magic, and fast.
Meredith, we were at that martini tasting! Your sister and the fellows behind you (we were behind them) made the afternoon. My husband and I sat by the window.

LOL! Leia says "Hi Gaige!" And "Awwwwww!" regarding the itinerary change. Apparently there are a bunch of their group on our sailing. And in that case I have several pics of your family - Leia pointed you all out to me, though your son is on the other side of the sail and somewhat obstructed. Happy to send them to you if you like; PM your email address. :)
I cruised some of the west coast of Mexico on the first Panama Canal cruise. I'd rather see someplace I haven't been yet - Alaska!

So tons of us were on that St. Thomas pirate snorkel. Yep, my daughter was the 9 year old blond that...pardon....puked in the bucket.
We rebooked on board for March 2011 Mexican Riveria.

I live too close to Alaska to visit it:rotfl:!!! I think Ill save that trip for an adult only or a scrapbbooking cruise.
TexasGirl....I saw the bucket being passed to her!! POOR THING! Hope she got to see lots of turtles to make up for it! We had several friends on the afternoon tour & I guess they got seriously rained on! We loved it!
Ya know what? I had a lady come in my store today who, (she had the nerve), told me her best friend took a Disney Cruise and swore to never do it again because they wouldnt let her join her 8 year old in the kids activities...needless to say, I got all ruffled:mad: & told her that her friend must have OUR ships mixed up with another line. Uuugh. I think I was in the OC & OL more than my daughter along with many other overseeing parents! Anyhooo...

Val...I'd love to see the pics! Check your inbox :) I did, it's empty! It could be because your new username has only a few posts. I'll see if I can contact you. As far as being a "warm-water gal", the ocean off the west coast is nothing like the Caribbean - much, much cooler, even in Mexico, especially in March (I used to be a California girl). I snorkeled in Manzanillo, and the water was cool, even in August. The current flows south from Alaska.

Yeah, born & raised on the west coast here. We know too well to wear our wet suits while surfing Southern Cal! The Carribean is definatly my favorite, but the price was right for Mexico.
My email is Chadnpaige@yahoo.com...i thought I put it on the last post...im a goofball!:rotfl: You can also facebook me. Just search Paige Macomber.
