DH & I will be taking a short (long weekend) trip to check out the new BCV. DH won't buy without seeing them first. Soooo, we just have to take this trip. :D
We have always gone as a family before. What would be a nice place for the two of us. DH won't stay at anything but a deluxe or DVC. Don't want to break the bank as we (I) hope to be purchasing at BCV. Thanks

I suggest the Wilderness Lodge! It's beautiful and can be very romantic for an adults-only trip :) It's also on the lower end of the price range for deluxe resorts. :)

I like the BWI for an adults only trip.

I just planned a trip for DH and I alone too. After much researching and looking into the different resorts. I picked Boardwalk Inn, because it just seems so nice for an adult trip.

Boardwalk Inn!! :) DH and I had such a romantic stay there. We had a beautiful room with a king bed that overlooked the rose garden. We could easily see Illuminations at night from our balcony. ;)
Second choice would be the Grand Floridian. I just love having the monorail so close, the castle view, and the restaurants are great. ;)
I've heard that AKL is also very romantic. ;)

How about the Beach Club itself?
well, if i were doing an adults only trip, i would definitely pick the gf. it is my favorite.
however, since you are there to look at and determine if you want to buy bcv, i would either stay at the bc (since i assume your trip will be before the villas are open to stay in) to get a feel if you like the property; or i would stay at the bwv (not the bwi) to decide if you like the idea of staying in a dvc resort. in fact, i'd go a step further and even try to rent points for it rather than doing it through cro, so you can really get a feel for the pros and cons of a dvc stay.
good luck! i am sure you will have a great time wherever.

Polynesian!
We were origianlly booked at Pop Century for our adults only trip. Then we spent one night at the Poly in Sept and I remembered how much I love it and how romantic it is...and thats even with my 2 kids and my mother with us. ;) Even before I heard PC wasnt opening in time, I already had my heart set on switching to the Poly to relive our honeymoon, even if its only for one night.
Boardwalk Inn was my second choice though.

here is another vote for WL! we have spent several adult only trips there. but i do like the suggestion of staying at the beach club. the dvc "offices" are at the boardwalk so you could just walk around to them.

Thanks everyone for the replies. We stayed at the BC on our last visit (June 2001) so we know what it's like. As we'll be staying there alot in the future (hopefully) I thought it might be fun to stay somewhere else.
I received an e-mail (code with pin#) from Disney. Just finished talking with them. I can get:
BWI $199
Poly $209
GF $279
All Standard View
AKL Pool View $169
AKL Savannah View $189
This is before Tax.
Would one of these be a good choice? Alot of you have suggested the BWI. Did you have a Standard room? Was it nice? Should I look for something else with a better view/upgrade?

AKL, AKL, AKL! Did I suggest AKL? I stayed there on a solo trip in January, and I think it would be a great place to just sit and watch the animals. DH couldn't believe that even though I'm a WDW park fanatic, all I wanted to do was just sit or roam around the resort. I actually had no desire to leave for the parks.

I second AKL!!!! It is such a romantic, quiet resort.

Another vote for WL !
And I suppose it would make sense to try the beach or yacht clubs since they are right there. But.................
I'd still stay at WL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

BWI would be the logical choice as it's right there and you don't have a lot of time. Very quiet and romantic, and fabulous service.
But...AKL is fantastic, and if you're going to have a car this might be my first choice.

I believe our room at the BWI that overlooked the rose garden was considered standard view. Water view is usually more expensive. Personally I don't think it's a big deal... we had a great view of Illuminations and our balcony was very private. I've heard some people report that water view rooms can be noisy with all the people on the Boardwalk and the boats coming and going.
I vote for BWI! :) $199 is a great rate!! :)
