I was looking to see if anyone started a thread for us earlier, but you must've already been on the next page!

We're coming, too!!! Luckily we have another cruise and a Vegas trip before then to keep me from getting too antsy :thumbsup2

I'm on the Repo in May too! I guess I better get back on that thread and start posting. I'm teaching a scrapbook class on that one for everyone that wants to join from the disboards.

Okay, gotta check my other threads I'm on!

No, just you and Dennis, Annette and Brack, Fred and I.
I tried to talk our friends into this cruise, maybe they will change their minds when it gets closer. They had a great time, but Lyle was disappointed that they did not have closed captioning for the movies.

I forgot to mention the breakfast because we did not go. If you do not have children between the ages of 4 and 7 or 8 it really is a waste, IMHO. The two 1 year olds in our group went, but of course they are too little to get out in the fray and dance so they only saw the characters moving around in the distance. Same as the deck parties. There were a bunch of us DISers who commented on the breakfast in Dec 2006, but I guess DCL did not listen. That surprised me. I commented on Flounders not being open during Palo Brunch time. :confused3 Brunch starts at 10:30 and Flounders opens at 12.

Anyone want to speculate what the excursions may be for St Croix? I think we will do an island tour, probably in the morning.
Anyone know if ships dock or tender at St Croix?
Since St Croix and St Thomas are both USVI.....do you think we will not have to go to an early morning immigration?
OK, I am out of ideas to get this thread more active.

We will be on the early morning tour with you! We should not have to do immigration since we will not have docked outside the US. :thumbsup2 Business will pick up on this thread in a few months. The holidays keep folks off the Boards. We will, in the meantime, keep it off page 3.:surfweb:

Our planned excursion for St Croix is to the home of some friends of ours that live there. We haven't seen them in several years so it will be fun to show up on their door step :lmao: Of course we'll call them to make sure that they will even be there be and not on the mainland for Christmas. :sad1:

Since the ship goes from one US port to another I doubt that we'll have to go through the "process" but we will see. :confused3 I'll bet that we still do have to do so at the end.

Brack, what a treat to get to see old friends! Hope that works out for you. We will have to go thru immigration/customs when we return to port since CC is a foreign port.

Welcome back Brack. We enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife. I'm glad we were able to spend some time together.
We decided to talk to our daughter first before making any DVC decisions. She is going to WDW in September and will check it out. At our age we don't see much advantage for us but at 28 it could be perfect for her. If she decides to do it we will help her (and give her your name).
Angie, we did not get to spend any time together, we knew you were busy with your family. Maybe on this cruise. We did see you helping Bobby the Banana shop on Castaway Cay.:rotfl:

:lmao: I got to look at DrHug's 1200+ photos this morning, and yes Bobby Banana did have some fun at CC!

Each trip is different and sailing with 11 other family members does occupy your time! We all get along really well though and so it was alot of fun! I am so glad my Mom got to experience this! I have for years thought I was the biggest kid, but I was wrong. My 82 YO mom is the biggest kid! She got into the spirit of it all and did see the magic we have been telling her about. Next trip we will have alot more time to get to know DISers though and look forward to that also.:surfweb:

Brack, that sounds like fun, visiting long time friends. Also, you may get some insider information about what to do on the island. Do you know if ships dock or tender?

Fred read that the Eastern tip of St Croix is the most Eastern part of the US. I hope an island tour will take us there.

She tends to get sick even riding in the backseat of a car, so she got patches from her doctor before she left and put one on Saturday before we left the port. She did great. My sis was sick on Sunday evening though, missed formal dinner, then she too put on a patch and was fine the rest of the trip. :thumbsup2

As for having a loving family....she is the one that taught us that.

Hi Angie, when is your next Motorhome trip? I have a feeling that the Castaway Club flags are somewhere on that MH already.
Our next roadtrip is planned for mid April. We are continuing our Rte 66 trip. We need to do the section in Missouri (Devil's Elbow to Springfield, MO) we missed because of snow and then on into Oklahoma. We did the little section in Kansas already.
On Sunday before we left for Orlando Airport, we popped in at Pop Century and while looking at the display cases, we saw a map of the Ocean Highway (after we returned home, we were able to find the same map from 1962) which extends from NJ near the NYC (DH left the map at work so I can't check exactly) area down to Jacksonville FL. We are now searching to see if that road still exists, if so, that may be something we will do after we finish
Rte 66. Rte 66 will take us about another 4 or 5 years.
Your PC cruise should be fun, I wish we could get away for two weeks. They are not happy at work when we go away. Especially now that I am the only secretary. My boss owns the company and he usually stays home when I am on vacation.:confused3 He likes to lay guilt. When we came back on Monday he told DH that he is glad he is back because he is the only that writes any business.

:lmao: The flags are not in it yet, but soon! :lmao:
Our plan is April. If all goes well with selling the house I will be able to retire at the end of March and then we can motor for awhile. We will likely head up north to Montana to establish some kind of home base there and then head out. We plan to drive the MH to CA in early May, go to DL a couple of days, fly to Orlando and go to WDW for a couple of days, bring the Magic back to CA, do another couple of days at DL and then head back up here to Oregon for DGS's HS graduation on June 6. Then we should be able to take the MH on a proper trip to.......oh, somewhere. We will need to put it in storage in Southern CA for 30 days while we do the coast to coast to coast Disney.

Route 66 is something we definately want to do. We have a book with maps and what to see. Tips would be appreciated though!

Hi Angie, for now, we like the HERE IT IS! THE ROUTE 66 MAP SERIES, and ROUTE 66:MARATHON TOUR - CHICAGO TO L.A. DVD set. We bought them from Amazon. After the holidays when we start planning the next trip, I'll let you know the other books we have. In April, anything we pick up along the route, I'll get cpoies for you too. Illinois does a nice map and I think Missouri had one too. I can either mail them to you or give them to you on our next cruise.

Ok after much thought (booking, not booking, and rebooking) WE ARE BOOKED! Omg! I will be bringing our 5 month old!?! We first cruised Disney this Jan, and loved it for our 15 month old. So thins time I think it will be even better for our ds(1) since he will be 3. I just have to get him potty trained. He has been doing so well.
I'm so excited. We had two vacations this year... but I still was so jealous of my dad who is crusing NCL right now. So I just had to booked to have a focus point!

Brack, are you still searching for photos? Did you check every pocket of everything you had with? What about a little corner of your camera bag? Any rips in the seams? I "lost" something small once and it had fallen through a small hole in my pocket and was caught in the lining? I would think if someone found it that they would turn it in knowing it contained someone's memories. Those cards are no longer as expensive as they once were. Good luck.

Maybe we could do a "Santa's Late, Secret Santa". Too soon for Cupid. But we could do Three Kings Day.

Still no luck on the card. I completely emptied my camera bag, searched it and then turned it upside down to skake it. I haven't washed all of the clothes yey but before theygo into the washer I will check the pockets.

I do have a duffle bag that we gave our friends to mail home to us. We were over weight as it was with luggage. I had forgotten about that until they called to say it was in the mail. The card could be in there.

It's not the cost of the card that I hate about losing it is the irreplaceable memories on it. :sad1:

I know it is the memories, not the cost of the card. I meant since they are inexpensive now, people would turn it in instead of keeping it. I hope it is in your duffle!!!!!

global_mom...nice to see somebody else in my area...DH and I actually met at UGA in the Redcoat Band-it's a small world! DD 13 was born at St. Marys! Your town holds a lot of fond memories for us.

I know that this information is tied up in the thread somewhere, but can people list their kids coming, and their ages? At some point we are going to have to tell our kids we're coming on this cruise:scratchin , and my older 2 have email-it would be nice for them to go ahead and have a little contact with some of the other kids that will be on the trip. For me, I'm bringing:
Victoria-14
Aaron-11
Katharin-8
These will be their ages at the time of the cruise. Actually, DS will turn 12 a couple of days after we get off the boat.
Coming with us will be a friend whos DD will be 15.

Just popped on to see Brack's countdown clock.
It is a cold snow flurry day here in Chicagoland. We just returned to work from a funeral and it was cold graveside. Tomorrow it is supposed to get reallly cold, single digits for the next 4-5 days. It will be a good weekend to curl up with Disney movies. Maybe homemade chicken soup in the Crock-Pot and fresh baked bread. Oh I am getting hungry. And Brownies or maybe banana bread.

Hi y'all, I'm krhardy's friend that's going too. My dh and dd (15) will be on the cruise. It seems our group's (krhardy & mine) number has swelled! I think last count we were up to 17? Lots of teens coming - don't worry we actually make our kids behave and if they don't  we want to know so we can correct it! :goodvibes

We are very much looking forward to this cruise. It has been 2 years since we were on the boat and by the time we sail it will have been 3 years - waaaaay too long to go between cruises. I'm excited about St. Croix and can't wait to see the shore excursions we might have to choose from.

Oh, and just a fair warning....y'all will know of us before the cruise is over...we always make an lasting impression! :rotfl2: :cool1:  :rolleyes1

Well it looks like I have TONS of research to do now and that should keep me busy for the next year :)

Just got back from 10 nights at Pop and kept seeing these cruise buses and got jealous! I had a blast at WDW, but didn't find it as much of a 'vacation' as I was hoping - I felt like I 'worked' for 10 days - 13 hour travel day in/out on 3 planes, then walking, walking, walking, stand in some lines, walk some more, go on a ride, walk a bit more...... well YOU all know!
I told Meg (My DD) that next year it HAS to be more relaxing.
I am not sure if we will do any parks this January and extend it at all or not. I am thinking of coming in a day or even 2 early and staying at an oceanfront resort and enjoy the sun.

Trust me you can do as much or as little as you want on a cruise. Once your DD gets plugged into the other kids in the kids clubs you will not see her. :cool1:
You will have to tell her to show up to eat dinner with you. :rotfl2: Last cruise we went on was with 3 families, 6 kids and 2 sets of grandparents. I hardly saw my child except for dinner and if I happened to bump into her on deck somewhere. She and her buds had a ball being kids without mom around. DD was 12 at the time. She will be 15 this cruise with some of the same friends. Yours should find some friends easily and give you plenty of mom time to just be. :cutie:

I've seen several families post that they have kids in the same age range going so she can chat with them online and get to know them and have built in friends once she hits the boat!
The kids clubs are great. The Sea Lab your dd will be in is awesome...wall to wall video games! You can set the level of security for her as far as checking in and out of the clubs. (She has to be checked out by you, must page you when she checks out, must check in with you...etc.) So you can control her coming and goings. We put little dollar store magnetic white boards on our state room doors and required dd to post where she was going to be. If she wasn't where she was supposed to be she got in room restriction - we never had a problem. :lovestruc We even had slumber parties from room to room. ;)

Just start asking questions and researching, it'll all be good!

Lollipop's Mom

Thanks. And yes, this will be perfect for us. Meg is a social butterfly who makes a new friend anywhere we go, so I am not worried about her in the kids clubs. As a single mom, I DO hope I see her from time to time. LOL. Could get lonely for me! But then again....hmmmmmmm ALONE TIME......in the SUN.....wait.....what is that white thing over there??? ITS MY LOUNGE CHAIR!!!!!

Me too! We are old folks, but love teenagers. Last March we chaparoned a Disneyland trip for our grandson and his high school band. Most fun DL trip we have had and we have done lots! Our grandson MAY join us for this cruise. He will graduate from HS this year and be in college next. If his winter break works time wise we are thinking of making adding him on as his HS graduation. He will be a bit older, 19, by that time. He would probably still enjoy talking with younger teens some too though. He enjoys comedy movies as well. :thumbsup2

Jonathan,
Awesome! The 15 y/o boy Michael is a big sports guy - very active. He wrestles and played/plays football. He likes video games too! The girls aren't so big into the sports thing. ;) Although one, Victoria, is a second dan black belt, her mom is a second dan black belt, her brother is a first dan black belt and her TKD teacher/coach will be along and he will be 4th (?) or 5th (?) dan (Kelley help me out!) black belt by the cruise. Super nice guy so don't worry! ;)

The girls enjoy fantasy movies, Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3, Lord of the Rings 1-3, Eragon, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, etc. The also like Monty Python's Holy Grail, the Princess Bride and other corny yet very funny movies. They aren't into girlie movies too much. We are pretty strict on what they can and can't watch so alot of the current PG-13 movies they haven't seen due to some of the raunchy content. So they still enjoy things like Alvin and the Chimpmunks, Enchanted, Bee Movie, etc.

I promise, in time, you will get to meet the kids online "in person". We are still trying to figure out how to surprise ALL of them at the same time with the cruise. It will be a while until we tell them - sorry :confused3

Keep 'talking' so we can still learn about you and fill the kids in about some of the cool kids we have already "met" that are cruising with us. :thumbsup2

Does anyone have any St Croix info to share? I've been reading about beaches, points of interest, etc. I wonder when DCL will announce shore excursions. Maybe this summer? Has to be before October when we can start booking.

OK...Bobby (Victoria and my teacher who is coming) earned his 5th Dan last November...go Bobby! Victoria and I are 2nd Dan...but we all (Bobby, Victoria-14, Aaron-11, and I) train with canes as weapons also...it is really fun. By the cruise, Bobby will have earned his 1st dan with the cane, and will be working on his 2nd dan with knives. Hopefully I will have followed, and Victoria and Aaron will be close to their weapons black belts. Thus, my tag line to the left!

Yes, my children have a warped sense of humor. They love sci-fi (their father's influence, definitely not mine) and Monty Python, although as Khakismum says we are sort of strict with what they watch, so they have only seen selected Python bits.

My DS-Aaron who will be days away from turning 12 on the cruise-loves anything requiring physical activity. While he doesn't play football, he delights in annoying me by watching it, reincacting it, talking about it, etc. He does play soccer and loves it. He loves to play "yard hockey" as we call it here, ride his bike, etc. All the typical *boy* things.

DD-Victoria 14 at time of cruising-is not too into really *girly* things...she's happy to be out in the tree with her brother, or locked in a room with her BFFs giggling and snorting. She looooves animals...especially horses.

Diane (Khakismum) and I are trying to wait until Christmas to surprise them...don't know if we'll hold out that long or not. We've surprised them so many times before with trips, that it's getting harder and harder to both keep the secret, and find ways to surprise the kiddos.

The 3 other families that we are traveling with haven't checked in, as of yet. They are: 1 couple traveling for their anniversary without their kids (don't we all envy that-actually we've done it twice :goodvibes )
Another couple traveling, as Diane said, with their DD-16 and DS-15. Last, is my boss and good friend who will be traveling with his DS-4 who is, let's just say, a LARGE bundle of energy (but a sweetie!) and his DW who might be a bit angst filled by leaving their DD at home who will only be 18 mos. old.

If I can ever figure out how to post a picture, I'll post one of our *former* cruise pictures so you'll know how to find us!!!:lmao:

Jonathon;

I am Michael's mother. As Diane has said, he is VERY active in sports.... He is very active period. Pretty much if it has a ball and/or it has movement he'll try it. He loves movement. He has tired most of us out long before he tired out. Football and Wrestling are his primary sports. He is very friendly and openly includes just about anybody in with him on his escapades. I am certain that you'll be in great company. Right at this moment, Michael is absorbed with the latest Zelda game on his DS and with the on-line game Runescape (he partners with his sister on that one).
My daughter is a little more reserved. She is actually the oldest of the 'under 18s' in this group. However, in this particular group she can be as loud and silly as the youngest one present. She is into her music, books, and her studies.
As is true for the rest of the children in this group, mine are somewhat restricted in what they can and cannot watch/see/do. They both know that their grades come first. And yes, mine will have school work to accomplish while we are on cruise that will be electronically sent back to teachers. (Yes, I AM an evil mother.)
I want you to know that this group is fun loving and will welcome you easily. You'll have a blast with them. There will be plenty to do.

Oh as Diane told you earlier, it is a secret. None of the children know about the trip.

Look forward to meeting you.

Anne

Yeah, it's pretty darn chilly here for Georgia - 20's tonight.

We have been hibernating under blankets for most of the past few weeks. I keep thinking warm thoughts of St. Croix and Castaway Cat :cloud9: I also have been trying NOT to think that one year from now we will have been OFF the ship for 2 weeks.

So...any ideas for a theme for the cruise??? "we're warm and you're not NYah NYah!"?? :lmao:

OK...so I know I'm a bit slow on the uptake-attribute it to the cold at the moment :rolleyes1 But, I just realized that Brack is the HUSBAND in the mix...hats off...I don't think I could get my husband to even GET a Dis account, much less use it...wait a minute-not sure I want to...this way I'm the one with all the information :goodvibes

Went shopping at one of my favorite stores yesterday-Goodwill-and found a pair of DisGreen Keds!!! I was so excited and I couldn't even tell my kids why I was so excited about them. They were brand new, and in my size. So, needless to say they came home with me.:woohoo: I can't wait to wear them to the pediatrician this week...one of the MA's at my Ped's office is on the Dis and she and I love to talk Disney. (DS just had a b'day and has a check up-I'm not going just to show off my shoes, although I wouldn't rule it out completely;) )

Could everyone say a quick prayer and wing some pixie dust:wizard: to krhardy - Kelley? She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital today with a mystery allergic reaction to *something*. She required 2 epi-injections and massive antihistamines. She was released from the hospital tonight with more drugs to take tomorrow. She needs to know what triggered this reaction. So prayers for speedy recovery and awesome detective abilities!

Her 3 kids are spending the night with us tonight and I'm keeping them tomorrow so she can rest and recuperate. Prayers for me?
Thanks!

Many thanks for the pixie dust...I am home now after seeing the allergist. I have had allergy issues all my life, but have not had a reaction in this bad in over 30 years. The scariest thing is that we have NO idea what caused it. I wondered if it could be as simple as purchasing a different brand of vitamins, but the Dr. today said that I would have reacted within 30 minutes, and this was about 2 1/2 hrs after I had taken them. I didn't eat anything unusual, or more importantly that I'm not supposed to, and I wasn't exposed to any known allergen. The Dr. today said that they can't do any testing for 6 weeks, so it will be a while before I have any answers, if I get any. She also said we may never know. I have to wait due to all the drugs in my system. She said we could get false positives and negatives. She also was not happy with my lung function tests, but that is a whole other issue, so there it is. She gave me the mack daddy of epipens...it's called a twinject, and it has 2 doses of epi in each pen. You give 1, call 911, and then manually push the 2nd. She gave me this one b/c after the antihistimine didn't work, the EMT's gave me 2 epi shots en route to the hospital. You know, it just wasn't the way I had planned to spend my day yesterday! How does the saying go? If you want to make God laugh, tell him what YOU have planned for today???
Anyway, thanks again for prayers and pixie dust!

Hey guys! We are going to be on this cruise... got a great deal on a cat 9 room and prayin for upgrade but happy if we are on deck 2 watchin' the waters from our porthole.... we are saving the bucks for a verandah for a Panama Canal cruise!!!!

I would love to meet up with some of you. We chat with everyone we run into practically but love to hang around cove cafe and the adult pool when the kids are pulling us somewhere else... but they are now 10 and 14 come cruise time and have already made it clear they want some of their own time on this upcoming cruise... our 3rd on Disney and their 2nd!

Love feedback on what your favorite planning things are ... one lady mentioned a "treasure chest" that she starts putting sample size stuff and meds in to "prepare" so once cruise time comes most of the frivolous packing and then you hate it when you have to go to medical for benadryl cream or something.

Looking forward to this cruise in just 10 months.... and hope the character breakfasts return to the old way by then!

What looks good to me is the Cruzan Rum factory tour - complete with free samples! Now *that's* what I'm talking about!:cool1:
Snorkeling off the reef looks exquisite - *sigh*
The horseback ride into the rain forest sounds good just a bit pricey according to the one article.

I surely can't wait... I am planning on touristy shopping and going to the hilltop bar for a drink when in St. Thomas but I had heard of the rum factory and the great snorkeling in St. Croix and was so excited to see these possible excursions!

I can't wait! Remember the GREAT thing about booking through Disney is if the weather is bad and it is cancelled you get a refund garanteed... also if the excursion runs long and it is Disney sponsored the boat will wait and not leave you! Yahoo!!!!

True....but since DCL hasn't posted the negotiated excursions yet....the list was just to get an idea of what might be available through DCL. I will definitely book through DCL if we do a big excursion.

I take a break for a couple of days, and the thread grows by 2 pages pirate:

We are soooo looking forward to this...Khakismum and I were talking last night that it has been almost 4 years since our last couples cruise, and by the time of this cruise, it will have been 3 years since the last cruise period. WAAAAAY too long! It is getting harder and harder (for me) to keep the secret from my kiddos...as Khakismum will attest, I can be rather, um, obsessive. I nearly spilled it in front of the 7yo Wednesday night...YIKES! :scared1: Just totally forgot!

Diane...they have done away with the character breakfast for now...at the moment it is something like a "party", but the characters don't rotate through the restaurant like they used to...I'm hoping this will change by our cruise and go back to the way it was, and the way it should be  I'll see if I can find the thread and post the link. I guess it went away with 70's and 80's night. Although, I did see in Barb's most recent Navigators that they were having some sort of a Disco night again...I guess they had some unhappy folks. It's not like we're not going to have a good time regardless, but I FEAR CHANGE!!!

Where do you live in Tennessee? I have family in Lebanon and Mt Juliet. We love country music so we love to visit Nashville.

We live not far from Lebanon. My brother and SIL and their 3 DK live in Mt. Juliet.

We live in Lafayette where the tornado struck and ran on ground for 41 miles without lifting up! So we will sooo be ready for this cruise after all the help we have been doing for all those that lost their homes.

I look forward to meeting you on the cruise... we love to hang at Cove Cafe when the kids aren't dragging us around.

We took a couple cruise 01/31/08... first Wonder-ful cruise.. and now we are sooo excited to be back on a Magic-al cruise...

Anyone know what the 2 new boats will be called? I found out on our last cruise that the new ships can't do the Panama Canal because they are too big... I am thinking they may leave one on the Atlantic and one on the Pacific to expand Disney to Alaska and Hawaii on the west and more Europe locales on the East.

Anyone have any other info?

I am sooo excited to meet you all! and esp you with family almost next door to me :) We will only have 2 of our kids with us... so 4 in a cabin with a window.. but inside isn't bad on Disney either... the cabins are sooo nice!

Welcome Aboard!

This is our 8th DCL cruise and are very happy to be in an inside cabin on deck two! :thumbsup2

Cove Cafe is a favorite place to hang out for some of us. A latte and some friendly conversation are always welcomed.

There will be lots of tips to share with one another. So we'll see you here soon. :surfweb:

I can't wait til we hit double digits on Disney cruises.... what of the 8 cruises you have been on is your favorite? Do you have a favorite time of year to go?

We live in Tennessee so going this year in January for a 3 day was a Wonder-ful break... now for a Magic-al time by the equator and worrying about sunburn in January.... Yahoooo

Also... I like your signature area! Very cool!

Welcome Clowers!

This will be our 4th DCL cruise and dd's 3rd. We are very excited! I just came from a belated Mardi Gras party with krhardy and Georgia Peach and we (the girls) decided we will be hanging at the Quiet Cove hot tub and sippin' fruity tropical drinks as much as possible!:cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I'm sure come cruise time we will have arranged a DisMeet at some time on embarkation day to meet everyone and put faces with names.

Keep posting ideas, tips and other good info for us to all learn from ...and what do you mean, what have they done with the character breakfast???:scared1:

Someone mentioned so I asked and got an answer that instead of the 7 day cruises having character breakfast for pics and autographs at each table they are now doing an interactive island oriented dance and play time... how will kids eat with this excitement???? and moreover... how will I get all those great pics for my scrapbooking when the kids are all over the place playing with the characters????? I like the personal table by table way personally. There is a thread here where someone posted a link to email disney cruise about our idea to return this to the old way ... so we will see what happens... I will try to find the thread about this if you don't but I think it is in this area... too tired from working to remember. :rolleyes1

:surfweb: Just wondering after reading this how you can know your dining rotation? I thought you didn't get that til you got on board the ship?

We are going through a TA and we just told her which rotation we wanted. Poof :wizard: - it's done. It does help to know what the rotations are - but I think everybody here has a clue! :hippie: Now, we do have a BIG group and our TA told us that it is easier to accommodate big groups over smaller ones....:confused3 But try calling your TA or DCL and see if they can't just go ahead and put you the rotation you want. Personally I'd rather have that nailed down pre-boarding so we don't have to stand in line on embarkation day changing all that mess.

OOoooo note to self....gotta see if Antonio is still serving on the Magic and request him as our server. :thumbsup2

Yeah, krhardy posted the thread and I had found it too after asking. But I agree, I much prefer the table by table experience....that way you can at least get a few bites in between character visits! Even in the parks at a character breakfast or dinner, the characters come by table by table for photo opps! GGrrrrrr

I handle change okay, but some stuff just shouldn't be messed with!:snooty:

DH and I will be on this cruise. We will be celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary on 1/6. This will be our 5th cruise. We've taken the kids 3 times so far, and are leaving them home this time.

I am so excited. I am ready to go now.

At least we have a trip to Disney World to look forward to in September to keep me semi calm until it's time to go.

Welcome aboard!!! Let me guess y'all are StarTrek fans/SciFi fans??? I'm psychic ya know! ;) DH and I are also big SciFi-ers. The assimilation is complete on our dd too! :thumbsup2 Resistance is futile. :3dglasses

You will have a great time! We took a couples only cruise in 2004. It was divine. :cloud9: We will have kiddos with us this trip, as we did last trip in 2005. One couple in our crew will be celebrating their 10th anniversary on board - just not the actual day. But we will take any excuse to PARTY!! :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

We have an October MNNSHP trip planned with a few of the couples we are travelling with in Jan to help tide us over until sail away. It gets really hard for your head to not explode from excitement when you hit the double digit days!!!

Looking forward to hearing more from y'all!

Welcome to our cruise and the DIS Boards! Sorry, I am not a teen.
Rich Purpura was very good, he was not on our last cruise. We were hoping to see him again.
I'll have to check my Navigators to remember the names of entertainers on our last cruise (December 8, '07).

Yup, we are all sci-fi fans, the kids too have been assimilated. We had Mike Super on our last cruise over Easter. Before he won Phenomenon. He was awesome. We've also seen Ricu Pupura. I'm hoping Mike will still perform on the Magic.

It is no longer a traditional character breakfast. The characters don't come around to the tables. It is a get the kids up in the aisle and dance party. Not breakfast eaten by the kids and no character interaction for adults without children. We (just 2 old big kids) don't bother to go anymore. I too wish they would go back to a character breakfast.

My wife and I (we are in our 30's) and my parents (in their 60's) booked on this cruise last week. We will be celebrating my graduation from divinity school and my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Both events occur earlier in the year, but this is the first time we could get our calendars to match up. This will be our 4th cruise on the Magic and my parents' second. On the subject of Valentine's Day...here's how to know your husband *really* knows you...I have Raynaud's syndrome, which means that the blood vessels in my hands, feet, and certain other extremities don't open all the way and they stay cold. DH gave me a very fuzzy warm pair of socks for V-day! They also have my favorite sock monkeys on them (I didn't realize until about 13 years ago that people other than me and my sister knew about sock monkeys). So, to somebody else that may seem like a lousy gift...but since my feet are perpetually cold and I wear an average of 15-20 pair of socks a week to keep them warm, it was very sweet.

Sad news --- we have just canceled our ressie for this cruise.:sad1:

Good news is that we opened up connecting cat 9s for someone who may need them.

We suddenly decided that we wanted to take our DD9 and DD7 to NYC to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway. We are staying at a fabulous hotel, have amazing seats and plan to spend their inheritance (just joking) at the American Girl Place so we had to make a decision to eliminate another trip from our schedule and the cruise got cut.

Thank you all so much for the friendly welcome when i subscribed to this thread and ya'll have a great time in St. Croix!!! :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that. But that is weird because we just booked out NYC stay tonight. I also bought my wife tickets to the little mermaid on broadway. We got front row Mezz because were aren't going until July. We have to do her broadway and shopping stuff for 3 days and then she has to come with me to the 2008 MLB All Star Game stuff(Home Run Durby, All Star Game, etc) We are SOOOO excited. When are you going and what hotel did you decide on? WOW was that a task or what? I must have looked for 4 days straight trying to decide. Just so many to choose from.

We are also going in July! We are going July 8-11 and staying at the Regency on Park Ave. We actually used our DVC points for the hotel b/c we had some that we had to use up. It was a ton of points for 3 nights but will be so worth it. We got row C on front mezz. I tried for days to get Row A but it just wasn't going to happen. We are going to the 8pm show on July 9. When are ya'll going? The tix have already arrived and the girls are sooooo excited.

Your wife is so great to go with you to the MLB stuff, I must say that I would skip that part!;)

Have a fabulous trip to NYC and on the cruise. We really hate to miss it but between our other trips and summer camps for the kids ($$$$) something had to give. I may have to book a short 4 nighter so that we can get a little cruise fix.

Take care!!

We are going July 11th-17th and staying at New York Helmsley. We are going to the TLM on Saturday the 12th. And yes your right, my wife is a trooper but she likes baseball too. Not as much as me but she does enjoy it if we are actually there and not just watching it on TV. She gets to do here shopping and site seeing. I was going to keep it a surprise but I have never been to NYC and shes been a couple of times and what a better reason to go for me. (The ALL STAR GAME :goodvibes ) Oh Ya, The little mermaid too. ;)

But I truly and doing it for her and our 2 year Anniversary.

i dont mind you asking....it was 198 points for 3 nights :scared1: we had a big ressie for an AKV grand villa that we had to cancel and so we had points that we had to use and already had 3 other trips planned to WDW. While it is an extreme amount of points, the room that we secured at the Regency would retail around $700 a night so it was nice not to have to pay that price OOP. And, the hotel is close to all the things that we have planned.

My dad lived at the Carlyle hotel in NYC when I was growing up (he commuted from GA during the work week) and I loved the memories of visiting him, it all seemed so glamorous. Thought that our girls, DD9 and DD7, would really enjoy a "spurge" hotel like the Carlyle was for me.

Have a great trip!

what is your preference for dining rotation and why? Thanks for your input.

I prefer the PLA rotation because that puts us in Lumiere's on formal night. I like being in the 'formal' dining room on formal night and in the "casual" one on our first night as we try to settle in and not feel the need to be super dressy for dinner that night.

Typically the rotation goes -
Sat - Casual - Parrot Cay
Sun - Formal - Lumiere's
Mon - Casual - Animators
Tues - Pirate - PC (also fitting thematically)
Wed - Casual - L
Thur - Semi Formal - A
Fri - Casual - PC
Sat breakfast - PC

These plans may be subject to change since we are on a new itinerary. :confused3 but it is a good base to start on.

Oh, and we always get the late seating (8:30) so we aren't rushed to get to an early dinner and so we reduce the likelihood of having a bunch of young kids at dinner...sorry can't handle too many little ones:crazy2:

You can see more info on dining here - http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-dining.htm

I really like the ideas of why you like that dining rotation. We also love the late rotation... and we have kids but they are pre-teen and teen and the little kids get on their nerves... we don't always go to dinner but I noticed more were enjoying wearing crop pants and relaxed casual wear (of course no bathing suits) but it is nice NOT to change for dinner then change back to relax on deck afterward.

We will plan the more casual look for all the casual nites and may do one dressy nite and eat the other one on deck... love Goofy's Galley panini and salad! Yumm!

I am ready to cruise right now. We had another 4-5 inches of snow last night and another snowstorm is heading our way for Thursday-Friday. I haven't seen grass since our cruise. We have really been socked with snow and cold this winter. I am ready for it to be over.
The sun has melted some of the new snow but I think the old stuff will still be here for the 4th of July.

Pluto... I agree with you... even though we don't have info about what we can do in St. Croix... and my not until summer.... we can still dream about it more actively!

We are also dealing with snow and cold weather... and my kids are so excited next January we will be near the equator swimming in warm water not here where it is sooo cold!

Anyone have different ideas for Pirates nite? I want a dress up fun thing for my daughter that is not just a cheap pirates costume... not that I want to spend lots of $$$$ but in Pirates movie the girl has a dress on... anyone have any alternate ideas for dressing a cutie 10 year old girl for pirates nite?

thanks for your ideas... and share your dreams for this cruise too!

What is your favorite thing to do on days at sea? Relax, spa, fitness center, meeting new people, bingo.... what do you all like to do?

We love to relax at Cove cafe... and love to play with our kids... but most of the time they find their own fun and just come tell us about it.

I also like to get cool pix.... what is the coolest pic you have gotten with your camera on the Magic?

I am soooo excited! I am like the parents on the commercial of the family about to leave for Disney that can't sleep!

Also, anyone going down the day before and if so where are you staying... I hope these questions stimulate discussion and give me new ideas... this is our 3rd Disney cruise and 2nd as a family! Can't wait to hear your ideas!

We are going down on January 1, and staying at All-Star Movie for two nights. We will be at the Mighty Duck pool or Downtown Disney or Logan's Roadhouse. No parks.

I was going to check out the Navigators and see which nights are what on the eastern... what is your preference for dining rotation and why? Thanks for your input.

The time of the rotation is more important to me than where we are on any specific night. I like the latest of the early or the earliest of the late.

WE love to spend time in the Rainforest on sea days and then I like to beat DrHug at a game or two of SkipBo at Cove Cafe. Wander the ship so he can take those awesome photos and nap on deck 4.

We chaparoned a dance at the high school last night that was orgainized, planned by DGS and 4 of his buddies as their Senior Project. The results:

We got total Techno music immersion! We liked the music (reminded us a bit of Disco with more beat, but along the same line) and the kids had a great time. There were 5 boys who did all the orgainzation for this whole gig and the school staff that was there was AMAZED at how well it went and how much fun the kids had. They also were AMAZED at the amount of money the boys raised for the band. Over $1700 after all their expenses, which were few because they got almost everything donated. The school staff were also amazed that they got so much donated stuff. Anyway they are stoked and cannot wait for Monday when they can share with their band teacher how much money he is getting for his program. They were hoping to make at least $600.

He is and we are very proud of him. Wasn't always like this, he was a challenge as a small child, but with consistent discipline with his parents and all of his grandparents he learned control and now he is just an amazing kid. A few weeks ago he said to me, "If I grow up to be just half the man Grandpa is, I will be very proud." Now THAT is a compliment to Grandpa. :lovestruc

Since we are the first Disney ship to stop at St Croix....do you think St Croix will do anything special to welcome us? Like fireworks or ?
I wonder if the Magic will have special "First Time To St Croix" merchandise. Probably not, too small of a quantity for one cruise.

DH and I are seriously considering booking this cruise for our family of 8. It would be our second trip on the big Mickey boat. We went in August of 06 on a double dipper and had the time of our lives! I have to say, the trip thread was one of the best resources we had so I'd love to "meet" others going this week.

hi my name is jonathan
im 15 years old I was just wondering if theres going to be any kids my age going on the cruise.
this is my first time cruising with my dad and his friend ron. they suprised me with this tonight after coming home from there western cruise with my sister last night.

Jonathan;

this will be my kids 2nd cruise on Disney and they are so excited... it is their christmas and birthday presents... they will be 14 (DS-Mike) and 10 (DD) at the time of the cruise.... my DS would love to challenge you in some sports on the sports deck. Our last cruise he was too young to hang in the Stack so he is looking forward to that too!

What do you like to do on the Disney? Are you gonna snorkel in St. Croix?

We look forward to meeting you and if you like I can get my DS on here to chat you up.

What kind of music do you listen to? What do you like to do in down time at home?

Ready for it to be December 2008 already! I am sooo excited!

We are going down on January 1, and staying at All-Star Movie for two nights. We will be at the Mighty Duck pool or Downtown Disney or Logan's Roadhouse. No parks.

Did you use DVC points for the 2 nights or just reserve it? I wouldn't mind that since there are 4 of us on this vacation (our family is 5 but our oldest DS will be 18 and wants to stay home so he doesn't miss a week of school). In high school they have to make up anything over 3 days missed with "time for time" after school time... he didn't like that from the first cruise we went on and says he likes his feet on the ground....

I was looking at staying by the Port in a place that would let us leave our car while we cruise to save the $15.00 /day charge for 8 days but would love to be at Logans (our favorite family restaurant) and Downtown Disney... kids LOVE DisneyQuest... could lose them for the entire day in there!....

Just wondering if the deal is great for January in the value resorts... then there is also just off property suite hotel that is pretty inexpensive and has free breakfast! yeah!:woohoo:

Love to hear your plans so I can get ours down pat before they are all filled up :surfweb:

Count us in for a DISmeet and also for a gift exchange in our fish extenders. I am going to make a fish extender, I hope. It all depends if my sewing machine works (I haven't used it since 1998). Otherwise I will try to do it by hand or a no sew. I bought the fabric already, and just need to see if I can find a place to monogram it for us (so no one takes it) before I put it together. My machine is very old and does not embroider. Working interfers with my hobbies.;)

I'm thinking "wonder under" and "stitch witch" are looking REALLY good for fish extender creations...some minor hand sewing and a few applicaes (yes, I know I can't spell :goodvibes ) with more wonder under and the every popular "puffy paint"...but, what to fill them with?? Glow necklaces...hmmm, what about something that specifically represents your state? For example, I live in Georgia where peaches and pecans abound (YUMMY...hot peach crumble with pecans on top)...oh wait, I digress. ANyway, from Georgia, we could bring peach candy, or something like that. Is that the type of thing most people do? I'm so clueless!

I think we should just bring little tribute that either represent our state, who we are, what we are about or some other personal thing to make them more special and for us to not get a ton of the same thing, different variety. Or another idea would be to get fun things to use at dinner the next night to dress up or identify ourselves to each other.... IDK.....just thinking out loud:confused3 or simple gestures, gum, mints, a trading pin etc.

Who has done the FE gifting and what were your guidelines?

I posted a query to the FE thread to see what others have done that have participated in the exchanges. I got a reply back from a group who sounded very organized.

Basically what they did was on the cruise meet thread they had everyone who wanted to participate in the exchange (they called it DIStag) to e-mail one person and that person kept a master spreadsheet. Then at a designated cut off point the number of participants was announced. You were to then plan to bring that number of gifties to hand out over the cruise. During the cruise meet on embarkation day a spread sheet of name sof participants was handed out. Along with a special door magnet to each participant. Whoever is at the top of the list starts the game. They take one of their gifts and the magnet and goes to the next person on the list and leaves the goodie and puts the magent on the door up high. That person then takes one of their offerings and the magnet and goes to the person next on the list after them....and so forth and so on. When the first person gets tagged, they then start all over with the next name down on their list and so forth and so on until all participants have been tagged on your list.

It sounds confusing but if you talk it through to yourself it isn't that bad, and it isn't like you are having to hunt down 20 or however many cabins in one day... just one or two every so often every day.

They did say if the list didn't get completed (all goodies handed out) within the game's time frame that any left over gifts were just handed out all at once to the remaining players.

If we want to start thinking about this I'd be happy to maintain the "master list" of players we can establish some deadlines and guidelines if we like. I know personally I'd like to know how many gifts I'd be bringing well before cruise day like mid-November? That way I can be looking for deals or know how many things I might have to make and have time to make them! But we can discuss all that later...

For now I say....TAG!! I'm in!

Meets will be informal. THere are no conference rooms to use that I know of. Traditionally, DIS meets have been on Deck 9 or 10 or at Promanade Lounge the first day, then whatever, wherever we decide.

The FE thread is a thread about Fish Extenders - the thing you make to hang off your door fishy to hold the goodies folks might leave in the tag game.
Here is the whole thread
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

Here is one message from the thread that shows what some folks got during one cruise.
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21624095&postcount=222

The magnet...everybody will get one and it moves with the gifting. Your door will get a magnet when you get a gift. When you go to leave a gift, you take the magnet and put in on the door of the giftee. Everybody gets one and if the game goes as it should you just might wind up with the magnet you started out with. Doesn't really matter...they are all the same.

As far as the gift goes, I'm thinking pretty generic and not for each and every member of the family (unless you want). Just something potentially useful, informative, edible :rolleyes1, what ever you think up! It could be a goodie bag or one thing. Look at the message above to see some ideas. Or read the thread...it has goodie ideas too.

You're in? What is your cabin # and how many family members? Kids ages? You can PM me or send it to the thread.

I'm making up the spread sheet and I thought I'd let you know what info I need so when you say you "are in" you will know what info to give! ;)

I will need:

DIS user name
real name for you and spousal unit
cabin # participating (if more than one cabin participating ie. parents/kids both/all cabin numbers)
total number in party
number of kids
ages of kids
allergies anyone in party suffers. Don't want anyone getting food they can't eat! Don't want anyone sick!!
and just for fun...anything special you are celebrating on board. (Anniversary, birthday, graduation, parole:lmao: ...)

okay, that is all.....

Diane,
the grown ups (and I use that term loosely :lmao: )will be in room 7620, while the kiddos are in 7623. Go ahead and include the kids...they'll love it, even if I will have to referee the distribution of the goodies! Do you really need me to give you a run down of allergies, or can you remember all or our peculiarities?
ALSO, just for my own information (and maybe that of others) maybe have the ADULTS list whether or not they drink alcohol :drinking1 :stir:
