My DGF and I just bought AKV and we've decided that AP's just aren't worth it at this time for us. So we plan on getting 10 day non-expiry passes for our first trip next October. They are costly and I was planning on sticking a few Disney Dollars into DGF's stocking this christmas to help pay for the tickets. I just wanted to make sure that Disney Dollars can be used to pay for Park Tickets and how we would go about doing so. TIA.

yes disney dollars can be used.
the problem you can't buy the tickets before arriving in the parks. So you end up paying full price for them. Instead of getting a discount.
you can get them at the ticket booth of any of the parks. actually think you can buy them at the resorts.

I agree with Pat. If you buy your tickets in advance, you will save $30-40 each off of the "gate" prices. Also, between now and October it is VERY likely there will be a price increase. The last one was in August, IIRC, and you can pretty much pencil-in Disney to raise prices at least every 12 months. If you buy your tickets from an on-line broker by, say, June of '08 (sometime before the next price increase), you will probably save $70-80 per ticket compared to what the gate price will be in October.
Disney Dollars can be used for everything else in the parks and resorts (all restaurants, shops, food carts, etc.) so they still make a great gift to help save for the trip.

Where can one purchase Disney Dollars? Is it only from the front desk or can you get them from the Disney store?

Disney Dollars along with Disney Park tickets can be purchased at The Disney Store. Not sure about annual passes.
