This is Thread #1 of many. Please check the first page of the Cruise Meets thead for the latest thread titled "10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat - I'm with B.O.B.
***********************
O.K. I'll be back here to update this post periodically. I will try to keep important information up here for all to reference as well as for all our new friends who come to cruise with us.
We have dubbed this cruise "The Bash on the Boat" because so many people are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries on this cruise. You will also see "KK2" in the title. As you will read, many of us just sailed together on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise. So, with many of us returning here, we are dubbing this KK2. For those of you who didn't sail with us, please don't feel that you are not part of the group. We are a very open and welcoming/friendly bunch. We had such a great cruise last time, but feel it will be even better this time. Come along and enjoy the fun. We will get off-topic many times over the next 2 years, but it is a great way to get to know everyone.
First, here is the list of Characters:
arielhead = Tanya and DH with their DD (will be 14) and DS (will be 9). West Virginia.
B9erSteve = Steve and Laura. They will be traveling with their DS and DD. California.
CarrianneB = Carrianne and Rob with their 2 DS who will be 7 and 9. Wisconsin.
Cheryl N. WI = Cheryl and Al with their DD who will be 15. Wisconsin.
cntkg1 = Nancy and Chuck (a.k.a. Charlie Tuna). Wisconsin.
Disgrits = Paige and Rob. Virginia.
DISNEYDUET = Shelley and Woody. Virginia.
Dyerneeds/Tart Annihilator = Mike and Robin. Ohio.
goofyfreak = Lori and Scott with their 3 kids (also extended family). Virginia.
GOS = Heather and Rick. England.
hockeychic = Kim and her DD who will be 17. Canada.
JLDSMD = that is me, Jeff. I'm traveling with my wife, Suz and our DS who will be 9. Wisconsin.
Karen Mouse = Karen and Neil and their DS who will also be 9. England.
medicalman = Sean and Cath with their DD. England.
millerpjm = Jen and Pete with their DS who will be 6. Wisconsin.
minnieandmickey = Becky and Sean. California.
Oybolshoi = Brenda and Jason. Missouri.
ST Cruisers = Tony and Stacy. Wisconsin.
Team Fun Pants = Kristin and Jesse. Wisconsin.
Timon/Darkrobe = Cass and Rob. Canada.
tinkerbellmom1 = Sheri and Pat with 2 DS (17 & 15 at time of sailing). Nevada.
Walt & Di = Walt and Di (pretty easy to remember that one). Texas.
Verandah Man = Andy (a DIS board legend) and Hazel. New Jersey.
I will try to update that list as we go. If I forgot anyone or if you want different info posted, please PM me. I will NOT be putting room numbers up on this post.

Jeff! you beat me to the start of the thread!
I'm booked!
I even decided to bring the kids along!
We went for the same cabin assignment that we had before we were upgraded last time
2606!
I was so hoping for the Eastern. After seeing Jeff's incredible pictures, I really wanted to go. (although a double dip would have been nice.)
It's official! I am so excited!

A little update on myself, since I have not been posting too much lately. I finished my Christmas Decorations on Dec 1st. And opening night was a fantastic sucess! I just now looked at the video from Halloween and I'll probably edit that and have it up on youtube within a few days. Laura and the kids are doing very well. I'm hoping that I can get Laura online more for this trip as she knows quite a few of you personally this time.

I was hoping for Eastern too! I really wanted to go to completely different ports (a double-dip still goes to Cozumel, which we've done).
Yeay!

BTW,
Funny thing about the cruise being released today. Laura told me that Leah specifically prayed last night that we would go on the "Mickey Ship" again. She said she needed to give Mickey some more kisses and hugs.

You bring up a good point Nancy...I felt like I didn't get to hang out with KKers as much as I wanted to - and the meet at the Mickey pool was a bit rushed for me (I had to leave early to get my boys our of the pool and dressed for the muster).
Since we have an extra sea day, should we "plan" a party sometime?

5020 and 5520 have a great view and are the non-connecting rooms. 5022 and 5522 also have a clear view, however, these are connecting rooms and may have more noise (depends on the family next to you!) 5024 and 5524 have the most obstructions.

For those of you on KK1, Nancy and I made a hard push when Andy dropped his Repo next year to get him on the KK1 with us. The dates didn't work out due to Angelina's Home Coming, but Andy was there to get the pictures of the Magic for us as we were leaving and in Cozumel. Thanks again for that Andy.

I have been debating the Deck 5 SPH rooms for the last 4-5 days. I decided pretty much last night that I should go mid ship. I was seasick on the night we rocked on KK1, so I am scared to get sick again. I am "playing it safe" with midship....
Moot point really, though. I spent all morning volunteering in Alex's class and going to the commissary, so by the time I saw that the staterooms were available, they weren't.:lmao:
Y'all should've heard me on the phone with the DCL lady. After I got everything squared away, she said, "Is there anything else I can help with?" I started laughing and said unless you can get me on that Panama Canal cruise for free, I will let you go, so I can hang up and started screaming because I am so excited!" She laughed and told me to have a magical day.....:thumbsup2

I don't think that will apply with the Onboard Discount and OBC. I think it has to be for NEW bookings.
I know the Disney Visa OBC doesn't apply to onboard bookings.

Fab! - Paige is coming too! - we need to get together more this time Sistah Paige! - I didnt see enough of you in October - apart from when we were ruining your romantic dinner in Palo:rotfl:
Hey Karen! You'll hear no snoring from us at night for sure now. I believe both Chuck and Sean have c-paps!
It's official! We have our own KK2 Wing on the ship! :woohoo:
Its just Neil that snores like a pig then:rolleyes1
O.K., let's get the ground rules set for this thread.
Are we doing F.O.'s again?
What about "milestone" posts?

Woo Hoo! - Mike and Robin too! we're filling the ship folks:woohoo:
that linking of dining really worked out well.:thumbsup2
we are still undecided about our dining time this cruise , so we booked early just to be safe as i guess its easier to change to late.
We're on early too. It was great having a big bunch of us all really close together.
FYI from the main cruise board (WebmasterRegina)....

Am I a castaway club member? - is that instead of the $25 I got in October?
Karen--Do you have Linda's phone number? If you do, maybe you can call her about KK2? I know she is not on the computer much these days. I would hate for them to miss out. I have PM'd her, but I don't know how much time she has to check her PMs. What do you think? Heather may have her number as well.....
Nope, She has mine, but I dont have hers - I know Heather has, and I think Chris may have it too. All the sph have gone, but she'll have plenty of other rooms to choose from. She went with a cat 11 last time. What cat did you choose this time Paige?

Jeff, I think someone on the main board said they got this when they transferred ressies...
I've already called DCL 3 times dirung work (and posted a bunch 'o times on the DISboard) so I will have to wait until tonight to check on this. I know I didn't give a CC member number because I don't have one, so I'm sure it's not on there now, but it will be worth a call tonight to get it added if possible.

WOW...this thread is moving slow! I guess no one's excited about KK2?:lmao:
I think the members of KK1 should divvy up the chores in preparation for KK2.
To do:
- plan DISmeet
- organize DIStag
- plan a party
- design or update logo
- add a new "who's going" table to the Yahoo Groups for KK2
- try to get private wine/beer/margarita/smoothie tastings?
What did I forget?
I will volunteer to plan the party since it was my idea...

It's called the Castaway Club - basically anyone who's cruised before gets a number. They were saying on the main board there's a $50 OBC for CC members for booking.
If nothing else, my mom should get it because she didn't transfer her ressie - she booked on board for Oct. 08, and may still go on that one too. I'm a bit jealous ;)

I changed the Title of our thread to just read "10/24/2009 Eastern Cruise".
I don't want to scare anyone away with KK2 or Reunion (thanks for the heads up Nancy).
Is everyone O.K. with that? I you think there is a better way to title it, please post it here. I can change it to whatever y'all (glad you're joing us Paige) want.
Also, if you want something added to the first post, let me know. I will set it up as a summary post for those new to the thread. I was thinking of starting the thread with a ficticious name like Konked Kruiser and then giving several people the password for it.
Unfortunately, we're now 4-5 pages into this thread. :scared1: (btw, I think 40,000 posts will be nothing when we're done with this one)

I do like the ornament idea, however it may not be easy to do as it gets closer to the date. I know WE could all go shopping now, but skip ahead a year and a half (oh I WISH)...it's August, we're all trying to start getting our DIStag stuff started, and there's no Christmas decorations in the stores yet. This might be harder (or more expensive) for newer cruisers to do because ornaments aren't "in season" per se.
Am I totally off on this?

My very first ever cruise was DCL back in Oct 05, and we have strayed a bit and have done a few other cruises, with one booked in March as well. Then back to DCL for Oct 08 and 09.....lucky for me DD's high school has a break the last week of October so a great time to cruise.

Just myself and DD she will be 17 by then. We have tried 3 years to get a mother/daughter only cruise and I think we finally are going to do it.
We tried for Oct 08 DD but DH and DS decided to come with us, so this one we aren't going to tell them about:rolleyes1 well OK DH will see the CC bill but all is good.
Look forward to chatting over the next 2 years:eek:

I can try to keep a list going in the first post. I will add that to my list of things to do. If I forget anyone, let me know.
I will put screen name and real name, where everyone is from and type of kids (if any) and their ages. I won't put the room numbers on the first page.
Does this sound o.k. to everyone else?

You know, they have specials on airfare MKE-BWI every so often. I was thinking of coming down that way maybe around the end of May, beginning of June. That would be too cool to meet up down that way.
Would also love an Ocean City, MD DIS meet. That place is cool.

I didn't catch the release until lunch and figured some travel agent got all the SPHs, no, it was the KK cruisers! We had connecting on the Halloween cruise this year and loved them, so if any of you change your minds let me know.
I just talked myself up to connecting 7s for $200 more than 8s, not ready to go back to deck 2.
Tell us about yourself ready.
For this cruise it will be my DH, Rob, and myself. We have 3 children, but Rob's parents are coming to our house to stay with them for the week of the cruise!

Just looked at the other date we were considering for 2009 (8/15/09). It was one of the Tortola cruises. It was over $450 more for a Cat 10. Not sure if they had a price increase today or not. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be switching. So you are all stuck with me again. :rotfl2:

I do like the ornament idea, however it may not be easy to do as it gets closer to the date. I know WE could all go shopping now, but skip ahead a year and a half (oh I WISH)...it's August, we're all trying to start getting our DIStag stuff started, and there's no Christmas decorations in the stores yet. This might be harder (or more expensive) for newer cruisers to do because ornaments aren't "in season" per se.
Am I totally off on this?

FYI from the main cruise board (WebmasterRegina)....
UPDATE: Castaway Club Members who book a 2009 cruise between now and December 10 get a $50 onboard credit.
:cool1:
When are we getting our number anyway?
WOW...this thread is moving slow! I guess no one's excited about KK2?:lmao:
I think the members of KK1 should divvy up the chores in preparation for KK2.
To do:
- plan DISmeet
- organize DIStag
- plan a party
- design or update logo
- add a new "who's going" table to the Yahoo Groups for KK2
- try to get private wine/beer/margarita/smoothie tastings?
What did I forget?
I will volunteer to plan the party since it was my idea...
sounds like a great start.
Just got off the phone with DCL---$50 Castaway Club OBC had already been applied to my stateroom--in addition to the $200 OBC I got when we booked onboard!!:cool1: :cool1:
Call DCL, folks. Get your CC OBC!:woohoo:
Now I need to call again! That's fantastic news!
I have to laugh, KK1 had 3 posts on the first day. It took 3 months to get 6 pages.
We're doomed here. :rotfl2:
Looking like another hot thread!
I know its early days but is anyone interested in playing distag again this time round?
Ellis absolutely loved it - he still talks about it now!
Maybe we could go with a theme this time - eg - an xmas ornament for the tree - (small enough to pack and brings back loads of happy memories when you hang it up) or anything else anyone can think of.:confused3
I'd like to play if anyone else would like to:confused3

Hi Carrianne,
Where are you from in WI?
It depends on how much the cruise goes up. You may want to book it now and when you get on board, see what the rebooking price is. If the rates go up by more than 10%, keep the current ressie. You can always drop the one you book now. Or, if the rates didn't go up much, have the CM apply it to your ressie.
Were you on the 10/20/07 with us?

Alright Mike! I'm about as amped up for the cruise as I am for the company! Another thing that I'd like to get together is linking dining ressies for any who are interested. We can have a late crowd and an early crowd. I really would have like to dine with KK'ers last time.
We did this on 10/20/07 cruise ... we had to call DCL, then fax a letter with all parties, rooms and names included (they're mainly interested in the name the room is booked under) to get tables near each other. We only had 17 people in our party though. You might be able to get the majority of the dining rooms!

Thanks Cass! I'll remember that when time comes. Two years out is probably a bit early for obsessive planning. But when we're closer I'll get a tally of those who wish to have their dining ressies linked.

Well Steve... It looks like we're on deck 2 together. I hear we have to bring our own oars this time. :lmao:
We booked early enough... hopefully we'll get another upgrade. :thumbsup2 :)
Yep, a guy can dream, I may score another upgrade. My thinking goes as such. October is historically a slow selling month for DCL, Halloween night is the night we are leaving the ship, so our cruise will probably not be quite as popular as then next one. Our cruise is a traditional Eastern rather than one of those new-fangled ones so they'll probably sell better than ours. Sooo.... I predict a lot of upgrades for someone, might as well be me.
So I know it is very early but does anyone think they will go for a few days before or after the cruise? Maybe MNSSHP meet? We could all wear red wigs!
I am definately planning this. Since we'll be out of town for Halloween, we may as well just plan on spending it in WDW. I think that we'll stay at POP if the rate is reasonable. Stuart really wanted to stay there last time we were in WDW and I chose CSR. I figure I'll throw him a bone and stay there for one night, then maybe splurge for AKL for our next WDW trip.
Yes, we are that crazy group of people.
Hoping Chris joins us on this one as well.

Jeff you took the words right out of my keyboard. This is the best plan!
We did this on 10/20/07 cruise ... we had to call DCL, then fax a letter with all parties, rooms and names included (they're mainly interested in the name the room is booked under) to get tables near each other. We only had 17 people in our party though. You might be able to get the majority of the dining rooms!
I wonder if it was your party that bumped me from my table... They told me that I was smack in the middle of a large party so they moved us to keep that party together. If so, Thanks! We got a great table.
This thing may be more lopsided than the KK1 thread with WIers.
That's it! I'm recruiting some Californians.

Holy cow, you guys are fast.
Hiya Ready! - welcome and happy chatting! tell us about yourself and who you're travelling with
Thanks, sounds like we will fit right in!!!!!:thumbsup2
You will:goodvibes
I do like the ornament idea, however it may not be easy to do as it gets closer to the date. I know WE could all go shopping now, but skip ahead a year and a half (oh I WISH)...it's August, we're all trying to start getting our DIStag stuff started, and there's no Christmas decorations in the stores yet. This might be harder (or more expensive) for newer cruisers to do because ornaments aren't "in season" per se.
Am I totally off on this?
Hmmm.... hadnt thought of that:rolleyes1 - we'll just agree to tag for the time being then:thumbsup2 - we can sort details later:thumbsup2
Are you going to be able to sleep tonight???
G'night Karen...
I didnt end up having an early night at all. I shut the pc down only to go downstaira to find Neil reading the thread on his lappy:lmao: :lmao: - I think he's hooked:lmao: - he probably wont post much but he'll probably read along now and then
Yikes! Such peer pressure!! :confused3
Oh come on - book it! - you know you want to:goodvibes
Some of the cruises are doing St. Croix or Tortola, but not ours. We are a "straight up" Eastern..:rotfl:
Thank you!
Just looked at the other date we were considering for 2009 (8/15/09). It was one of the Tortola cruises. It was over $450 more for a Cat 10. Not sure if they had a price increase today or not. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be switching. So you are all stuck with me again. :rotfl2:
Dont you dare switch on me Mister Jeff :goodvibes
I would love to do a repeat cruise, but I am not sure it is in the cards for us--:sad2: Of course, we only booked KK1 in February so who knows? :confused3
Book it! Book it! Book it!
Is this the crazy lot that Chris (Fat English Gent) told us so much about? My DS and I were on the second leg of Chris's back to back adventure! We promised him to join this one... :goodvibes
Hi Kimmielee - hope you book and join us

Well since we didn't get to do it last time I would love too!
Hey Becky! - My Planky is coming, not sure about anyone elses.

Mornin' KK2'ers, I'm an early riser..........well most days anyway........
For the past few years we have taken vacations during the first week of November, as that is Jersey Week for us. Our school district is off for Election Day, County Teacher's In-Service, and State Teacher's Convention. It's kind of crazy, but they make our kids go to school for just that Monday. So, we have taken our DD out of school for that one day and plan a fall get-away.
This past November, we did a 4 day cruise on RCI's Sovereign of the Seas. It was a nice cruise, but we really did miss the Disney touch and feel, especially since it was our first non-Disney cruise.
I asked our DD again last night if she wanted to join us for this cruise and she said, "No, I want you and mom to have some time alone together." What a sweet kid.........:goodvibes
I'll check in later, I have a few more messages to check, then will be getting DD up so she can start getting ready for school, then I have to start getting ready for work. Gotta work to pay for the cruise!!!

Hey there, WOW. I will catch up later but I have a quick story to relay.
From quickly reading through there looks like alot from Wisconsin (hope I spelled that right??) Anywhooo, on our first DCL cruise Halloween 2005 my DD who was 13 at the time met a boy, Nathanial from Wisconsin, that;s all we knew him by was Nathaniel from Wisconsin, I think it was her first crush, anyways he was a nice kid so do any of you have a son named Nathaniel and was on DCL Oct 2005, that would be a funny coincidence???
We have early dining and would love to link up

It is snowing here, so I have to get up early and snowblow the drive now.
Still have ice on it from the last storm. Better get rid of that before company comes this weekend. Don't want my "friends" to fall and break a bone. One of them is old. ;) :lmao:

How many are we up to already?
If we do the ornament idea (which I like by the way), we'll just have to forewarn those who want to join after Xmas next year what we are thinking. Although, there are year round Christmas stores in most cities. Not to mention here in WI, they sell tons of them at State Fair.

Let's see, if I have 5 FO's already, that is about 1/3 of the possible FO's. Seeing that we're at 2,662 pages on the KK1 site, that means I would have over 875 FO's at that rate. Given this thread will be bigger than that one, I would be in the thousands. :scared1:
Gotta stop this now. It will start controlling my life. The DIS may get addicting. :rotfl2:

Good morning all!
Just catching up from last night - looks like we're going to have a great bunch of cruisers!
I am actually going to try and work today, now that the rebooking excitement has subsided (a teeny bit anyway) but I wanted to say hi to the newcomers and the old timers (Jeff :lmao: ) this morning!
By the way, for those of you that don't know me, I'm Jen, and I'll be sailing with DH Pete and my DS who's 4 1/2 now, will be 6 1/2 when we cruise (you were right, Jeff!). We're Wisconsinites also, we live in Janesville.
My first Disney cruise was the October 20, 2007 Western with a whole bunch of really cool DISers. I'm hooked now. My mom will be joining us, and she was on our last cruise also.
Here's us:

So, welcome to the thread! We'll all be old freinds by the time 2009 rolls around!

FO is the first one to post on a page. But someone can steal your fo if you aren't quick on the draw, or the 40 second rule kills ya. It started with the original cruise.

The rules of the FO (Fresh one) are as follows: if you get the first post on a page you need to then post again (to have the first and second posts on a page) to claim an FO. If someone else posts in that second slot, you are denied. That's why the 40 second rule kills you. If there are a lot of us on (and that happens more often than not) then usually someone will steal your FO.

I'd love to get some ressies linked - we've got lots of time to get this all organized....

I won't doubt that our luck from the last cruise may run out. Ask Chris how his second cruise was. I heard it was rough. :scared1:
Either way, glad you decided to hop onboard. Hope it works out for you.
Yes, I heard about his second cruise. And yes, Kira, our good luck charm won't be cruising this time so who knows where we go! :rolleyes1
Thanks for the insight.
I was on the 10/20 with you - but I hadn't gotten on the boards until right before and right after. So we we kept to ourselves a bit. Sociable but not really hanging with anyone.
BUT, that can change:cool1: .
We had an awesome time on the 10/20 cruise. My first ever, and frankly it has spoiled me.
Now I booked my first through *****************s, but are the deals better through someone else.
I have a huge desire to get booked for 2009!!
I would check into Dreams Unlimited, link is at the top of the page :thumbsup2 They have a good offer now, double the OBC plus you still get the $50 from DCL if you are a CC member and book before Dec 10th.
Hey! When did that happen Cass? Last I heard you guys were sketchy on booking! It'll be great seeing you two again.
Guess you missed my post...I booked us now just in case since I got $250 in OBC, plus the room that we want. We can always cancel if we need to. It's 2 years away so we have a lot of time to think about it :thumbsup2

Not sure what they'll do. I would love a mini (or would that be a Minnie) golf course on the ship, but they don't have the room.
Maybe because they are going 3 years in between instead of 2 they are going to do a larger overhaul.

Thanks Steve for defining the FO. I believe Chris, who we are hoping will join us here, started it on the old thread.
I tried to stop it early, but it looks like everyone wants to play that game.
But with the milestones, how about we say those are every 5,000th post? Granted we did 1,000th on the last thread, but who know it would go to 40,000 posts (by the way, are we going to push that over soon?). I think this one will go well beyond 40,000 posts based on this group and what we did over there. Thoughts?
And to the new KKers, as I keep saying, please don't let that scare you away.

You could start the list now. Once you have things going and a description of the game (I'd steal Nancy's wording from the other thread), I can put something regarding it in the first post. New people can then PM either of you if they are interested. I think people should just plan on 30. Then if we don't go with that many, there may be some people you want to give one to that didn't play. Just a thought.
I think the idea of doing ornaments is great. With it being small and as into it as we were last time, I think you could go to 25 or 30. Not much more though. Heck at least 6 of us are right near each other, that will be done in no time (btw Walt and Di, I may tag you on the Adjoining door between our rooms :rotfl2: ).

Just got in for lunch, the sn*w started here just around 10am, it is really coming down at the moment and the ground is starting to get covered. I just finished reading one meter book with 120 accounts in it. Will start the next book after lunch, but not sure how much of that I will get done. I have to pick up my paycheck, when I turn this meter book in, then run to the bank. If the sn*w keeps up like this, I will have to pick Angelina up from school around 2:10 and take her home, Hazel doesn't drive in the sn*w.
