Good morning Red Team! It's weigh in day and I am looking forward to hearing from you. Have you recovered from Thanksgiving? Are you back on track? I am doing horrible. Today's goal is to have salad for lunch and dinner and to exercise for 30 minutes. I will also put the rest of the wedding cake in the freezer today. What are you up to today?

Red Team question of the day

How are you doing with your Christmas shopping? What gifts are you looking forward to giving this year? If you don't celebrate Christmas please tell about holiday traditions you enjoy this time of year.

Me first. Over the past couple of years I have grown to hate the Christmas gift giving hype. I have it in my mind that I have failed unless I have given a person the 'perfect' gift. I hate giving those gifts that are not appreciated. As we were decluttering the house and my son was cleaning out his room I was amazed at the things that he got rid of. So many were those rejected gifts that I thought were lovely gifts. My kids will now only get the universally accepted gift - CA$H. It always fits and matches everyone's decor. Shopping for DH is another story altogether.

Please check in today if you can and remember to get your weight to me today. The weekly challenge runs through Wednesday night. Your total score needs to be reported by 3 PM Thursday. As always if you are late reporting go ahead and get the information to me. I will use your numbers if I can.

Have a good day Red Team. Make healthy wise choices. I know we can do it. We had a great week last week. Let's continue this trend. Our BL challenge is winding down. Let's finish with a bang. Let's all get to work and make the most of our final two weeks of the challenge. TWO WEEKS, yes, only two weeks left. Our final weigh in will be December 18. Remember we do have a real prize for the Red Team Biggest Loser? Will that be you? It can be if you work hard and do your best!

Have a healthy day!

For the most part we are done. If we're not finished with someone we know what we are going to buy and that is the important thing.

I have no Christmas shopping. My Hanukkah shopping is all done.
Hanukkah begins tonight at sundown, I'm going to mousefest on Thursday.
The temple is having a party on Sunday, last sunday my husband helped make 750 potato pancakes for the party.

11 pieces of wedding cake are in the freezer. Now they will not all end up in my belly. Exercise for the day is done, but maybe I could sneak in another session later today.

Good start for the day. Hope your day is going well too.

Good morning Red Team. Not much traffic here yesterday. Usually weigh in day a lot of people check in. Thank you to the 11 people that have reported their weights to me. That leaves 14 not reporting. We really are winding down, we are losing a lot of people. I will PM a reminder to these 14 people just to let them know that I miss hearing from them.

Attention Red Team

Don't forget the weekly team challenge runs until midnight tonight, Wednesday. Please report your totals to me by 3 PM Thursday afternoon. Remember even if you are late go ahead and send me your numbers, I will include them in our figures if I can.

Red Team question of the day

What's the temperature where you are right now?

Me first. Weather.com has me currently at 24. Sorry can't make the degree sign. It is cold here today. They are calling for snow. We had a flurry for a while yesterday but it didn't amount to anything. We haven't had a significant snow here for a couple of years.

simpilotswife (Kimberly), Thanks for answering the QOTD. Great job with your shopping. Now you can sit back and enjoy the holidays. You have been working VERY hard during our challenge. You are one of our team superstars. Keep up the good work.

cherylp3, Happy Hanukkah! I hope you and your family have a wonderful celebration this week. Your DH is a sweetheart to help make the latkes. MY DH would have nothing to do with such a thing. Tell me about mousefest, I imagine it is Disney related but I have no clue.

Well Red Team, how is everyone else doing? I did get in two exercise sessions yesterday, YIPEE! No salad though. I really need to work on that because I bought a big bag of salad mix since company was here. It didn't get touched though. I hate the thought of throwing out another bag of salad mix. It doesn't last too long in the fridge. Yesterday I did have to throw out the cut up cucumber. Oh well. I just need to eat this healthy stuff instead of the junk. At least the wedding cake made it into the freezer yesterday. I am very happy about that. Today's goal is exercise and two salads again. I know I can do this.

What about you Red team? What will you do today? What are your healthy plans? Inspire me please!! Two more weeks, let's make them count.

Have a healthy day!

Mousefest is basically a big gathering of Disney fans. There is a cruise and a land portion. During the land portion there will be meets. It is very fun to meet other disney fans.

Hey Red Team,

I have been busy lately, with not much time to post.

QOTD: It is SO cold here this week. We had snow Sunday into Monday and now it is hanging out in the teens, so this snow isn't going anywhere. I had to run my last 2 runs on the treadmill, 9 today. I have never ran more than 3 on a treadmill, so that is quite an accomplishment, but goodness it is boring. The only good part it is, the run was much warmer. We ran 12 on Saturday in 20 degree weather and our hands were frozen. Come on Disney Marathon, we need a break from this Massachusetts Weather!

Thanks Brenda! I try to do well in the weightloss area because I am a little pathetic with the weekly challenges. :lmao:

It is in the low 30's here. I went walking last night and this morning and it was pretty darn cold. My ILs bought me a mini-stepper so the weather outside shouldn't prevent me from getting exercise.

By the way, tupperware is a great way to keep salad mix fresh for a while. I don't know if it works as well in say rubbermaid or something else but I can definitely vouch for tupperware.

I thought I had posted yesterday but I must have timed out??? Anyhow it was a balmy 27 out tonight coming home around 6:30 PM. :scared1: I try to use reverse psychology on myself saying that it is really 72 like it is in Florida, lol! Didn't do great on the challenge but I think that is because not only was I sick but it then went through the house...blech! I did lose this week though, yahoo!:goodvibes

A balmy 15 degrees on my way to work this AM...Florida has got to be warmer! I did fantastic yesterday, back on track eating right, small portions, and then I got to work on finishing up my dissertation proposal and fell apart...3 homemad CC cookies and a piece of homemade swedish coffee bread! Yikes, so bad...oh well will try to do better today!

Please PM your weekly challenge scores to me by 3 PM today. Remember even if you are late PM me anyway, I will use your numbers if I can. I have only gotten two scores so far. That challenge has ended but our new one is posted here (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1654996). The new one is an exercise challenge. Check it out and do what you can. Remember every point counts.

I am off to tabulate our weekly weigh in. We had a lot of folks not reporting but we also had some nice losses. So far our percentage looks much better than it has been in the last few weeks, but will it be good enough? Stay tuned to find out.

My salad mix is in Tupperware simpilotswife (Kimberly) and it is already starting to go bad. I did have one salad yesterday, today I will have two. I even did my exercising yesterday and have already had a session today.

The snow is still on the ground here so the guys are not working on the garage today. DH had been sick with a stomach thing. Why are men so pitiful when they are sick? He whined about being a sick puppy yesterday. He even got teary eyed and babbled on about how blessed he is and how he is glad that I am the mother of his children. He must have been delirious because my husband never talks like that. I kind of liked hearing it though. I felt appreciated and I don't feel like that very often. I am wondering what I can do to him in about 6 months or so to make him babble on like that again. Right now he is snoozing in his computer chair next to me in the office. He is feeling a bit better today but is still too weak to go to work.

Any Biggest Loser watchers out there? I have been catching up on my episodes. The Red Team is gone completely. WOW! I sure wish Neil was gone after his gaining 17 pounds stunt. I don't think he will ever fall below the yellow line and will make it to the finals. I just hope he doesn't win the big bucks. I am thinking of ordering a Red Team shirt from the NBC website. Anyone else interested in adding to my order? PM me.

So Red Team just stop in and say Hi today. No QOTD just say what's on your mind. Wait a minute I do have a question.

Red Team question of the day

Our WISH Biggest Loser 3 challenge will end Tuesday December 18. The Red Team Biggest Loser will receive a real prize donated by an anonymous Red Team member. The next season of the Biggest Loser TV show will start Tuesday January 1. It will feature couples. How do you feel about another WISH Biggest Loser challenge? Would you participate if we were not in teams but just individuals? Do you have any suggestions of what you would like to see here?

Me first. Biggest Loser Central has already started discussing this. So far we are looking at a smaller scale operation. Possibly no teams with just one weekly support thread. I would like to see some type of BL challenge continue because I need it desperately. I have not taken this one very seriously and feel like I have failed miserably but I can not give up. I would enjoy a chance to redeem myself and try to do better.

Keep working hard Red Team and report those weekly challenge points to me ASAP.

Have a healthy day!

Hey Red Team...I would love to keep this up. I feel like there are other people out there that understand me...:goodvibes I also like the accountability. I don't know how I would do in a huge group but would be willing to try whatever is decided. A balmy 12 degrees out tonight...blech! I have gone down 1 pants size and am putting all of my "bigger" sizes away tomorrow. I kept trying to wear them but they were falling off of me and very very baggy and sloppy looking. Go RED TEAM and Brenda thanks for all that you do!:goodvibes :cheer2:

well, i just got back from 45 min at the gym. i was so tempted to only do 30, but then i figured we'd probably have to push ourselves for this week's challenge, so i did the extra 15 min! i haven't been to the gym in about 3 weeks. it felt good. i've also decided to join my friend taking step classes. she loves it and always tells me to come along with her. i think it's a good way to get a workout that works different parts of my body. she always tells me how sore she is after, so i hope that's a good thing! that starts on saturday morning.

here's my results on the weekly challenge quiz. they're pretty true, especially the obstacles part, i can't stand going to the gym when i forget my ipod or there's nothing good on tv:

Your Personality Type: SPONTANEOUS
Life is a game, and your strategy is always changing. While you aren't much for rules, you'll follow them if they're simple and help you have fun.

Your Exercise Rx:
Short but sweet activities that allow you to accumulate exercise time throughout the day may be a good choice, says Ross Andersen, PhD, director of exercise science at Johns Hopkins' weight management center. Spontaneous types also tend to do well with games.

Best Choices

* Short walks throughout the day
* Taking the stairs
* Bike rides
* Hiking
* Tennis
* Racquetball
* Squash
* Basketball
* Frisbee

Leisure Activities
Your first priority is to work regular exercise into your week. But also think about using your leisure time to burn off a few extra calories. Here are some extracurricular activities for your personality type:

* skiing
* playing in a softball or volleyball league

Obstacles
Different personalities don't just take to different activities; they have to contend with different obstacles too. Here's what you might find in your path, as well as ways to get around it:
Your biggest enemy is an idle mind. Even short workouts can turn torturous if there's nothing to occupy your brain.
Solution: Watch TV or listen to music while exercising, or grab a workout partner to talk with

Took the Personality Quiz and it is me...:goodvibes

Your Personality Type: INSPIRATIONAL
You're the type who catalyzes other people into action. You know how to say all the right things, which is why people gravitate toward you, tell you their problems, and look to you for inspiration. You're creative and are concerned about achieving personal growth.

Your Exercise Rx:
Dual-purpose exercise. To you, working out is engaging only when it's about more than just your body. You are more apt to enjoy it if it's about being part of a community or about exploring your inner self. To enhance your spiritual side, try listening to music to set the mood for a peaceful workout.

Because you may often engage in activities that involve instructors or coaches, you run the risk of being turned off by corrections or criticism aimed at you--or anyone else in your group.

Brenda that is so weird about the Tupperware. Could it be that your lid isn't sealing correctly? Anytime I put salad into a tupperware container I know it will stay crisp and edible for at least a week.

QOTD-Yes I will participate in the BL challenge. Participating is helping me to stay focused.

QOTD--I would participate in the challenge as I love the accountability and support. It also motivates me to stay on program when I know people are counting on me to lose weight. Competition is also very fun and healthy. Unfortunately or fortunately, I am below my weight watcher goal weight and very quickly approaching my personal goal weight, so I will not be participating in the challenge, but would love to help offer support. I have lost almost 20 additional pounds since I joined the Biggest Loser Red Team, and I am so thankful for all your support, especially yours Brenda!

Oh and I weighed myself this morning, I am getting excited, I may have a good weigh in for us on Tuesday, let's hope the scale continues to be my friend through the weekend. I have an 18 mile run scheduled, so I am sure that will help.

What a week Red Team. Even though we were last in the weigh in I am very proud of us. We were very close to 2nd place and our percentage is our best since week #4. I think that is great. We have some impressive losers on our team.

We have three team members that have lost over 20 pounds. Congratulations to:

bridgetgabbie (Robin)
simpilotswife (Kimberly) and
winniedapooh (Michelle)

We have three team members that have lost over 15 pounds. Congratulations to:

Nancy and

Nice job ladies. Thanks for being an inspiration. Keep up the good work.

This definitely was not our week for the weekly team challenge. We have to surrender our challenge winner clippie. How about this weeks challenge? Please look it over here (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1654996). This one involves exercise. I have just started exercising again. I even joined the December exercise challenge thread here. I know we can do better with this challenge. I know I am not a cook and that's why I blew last weeks. This weeks challenge posts a exercise personality quiz here (http://www.prevention.com/cda/quizpage.do?channel=news.voices&category=quizzes&quizKey=213dd76baa373110VgnVCM20000012281eac____) . Please take the time to complete the quiz and share your results. I know we can all do that at least.

Let's get to work Red Team. Two more weeks. Only two more weeks. I exercised yesterday and had 2 salads. I will eat all that salad mix before it goes bad. Today I will also add two fruits because all the clementines I bought for company are also going bad. I need to love my fruits and vegetables more. What are you going to do today that is healthy Red Team? Check in and let me know.

Here are my results for the exercise personality quiz:

Your Personality Type: ORGANIZED
You feel best when life is orderly. You're punctual, dutiful, and once you agree to something, you're likely to follow through. You like rules and routine.

Your Exercise Rx:
Result-oriented workouts. You like a schedule. It's no problem for you to set aside a block of time each day for exercise or even to stick with an activity that's repetitious. But to keep your interest, you need feedback. That's why cardio machines, which let you methodically monitor your progress, might be just the ticket. If you prefer the outdoor versions of repetitive sports, keep a fitness log to monitor your progress.

Best Choices

* Treadmills
* Stairclimbers
* Stationary bikes
* Running
* Walking
* Cycling
* Swimming

Leisure Activities
Your first priority is to work regular exercise into your week. But also think about using your leisure time to burn off a few extra calories. Here are some extracurricular activities for your personality type:

* hiking up to a summit

Obstacles
Different personalities don't just take to different activities; they have to contend with different obstacles too. Here's what you might find in your path, as well as ways to get around it:
Since you like things to run smoothly, glitches perpetrated by others can trip you up. If, for instance, you decide to try out an exercise class but the teacher is disorganized and lackadaisical, you're likely to drop it like a hot potato.
Solution: Stick with workouts you control.

QOTD: I would love to have this challenge continue. I think it really helps me stay focused knowing that I have to turn in my weign-in results each week. for the show, I'm excited to see how the game changes when they have couples in the mix, especially since DH and I are working on this together too.

I know I didn't participate in the last challenge because several of the items went against my WOE. This should be a much better challenge for me at least.

Your Personality Type: ORGANIZED Just like bridgetgabbie (Robin) the superstar!
You feel best when life is orderly. You're punctual, dutiful, and once you agree to something, you're likely to follow through. You like rules and routine. Yes, this is definately me.

I am not good with scheduling a particular time on the clock to exercise each day. When I was regularly walking several years ago I kept a chart that I marked each day. At the end of each month I kept track of how may days I walked and how many days I missed. I also kept cumulative numbers that spanned the entire time I had been walking.

Best Choices * Treadmills * Stairclimbers * Stationary bikes
* Running * Walking * Cycling * Swimming
For now walking is it. I can see enjoying a stationary bike or cycling someday in the future.

Leisure Activities
Your first priority is to work regular exercise into your week. But also think about using your leisure time to burn off a few extra calories. Here are some extracurricular activities for your personality type:

* 5-K or 10-K walk/run * hiking up to a summit
I love to hike and enjoy nature. I think I would enjoy the satisfaction of completing a 5-K. Our local college sponsors The Seagull Century an annual 100 mile or 100 K bike ride. I have always thought that would be fun.

Right now I can not even fatham taking an exercise class with other people. I do like things to run smoothly though. Disorganization and poor planning make me crazy. Lackadaisical, what a word. I am now working out by myself and committing to a time of day to work out, right now I am doing morning and evening.

The salad mix was purchased Wednesday November 28. No wonder it is going bad. The Tupperware salad container was emptied at lunch. Unfortunately it was then reloaded with the salad mix that was left in the bag in the crisper. Some yukky stuff has been removed. The lid was properly 'burped'. A salad really fills me up. I hope to get back into a salad habit and that this salad mix is gone soon. A crispy fresh salad tastes so much better.

For lunch there was salad and bad fruit. I exercised this afternoon. More salad and bad fruit for dinner for me. I hope to get another exercise session in this evening. I am trying to do better. Only two more weeks.

How is your day Red team? The snow is still on the ground here but I am staying warm. I hope you are safe and warm wherever you are.

Have a healthy day!

In my Weight Watcher meeting this week they were talking about scheduling your exercise and I must confess I have had every one of my runs scheduled since August through January in my calendar on my computer. It keeps me very motivated and I highly recommend doing this. Other people in the meeting had mentioned that they do better when it is in their calendar. Then my leader suggested, if it is scheduled, when someone calls you to get you to do something, you say "Sorry, I am busy, I have plans." Because you do have plans, with yourself!

sorry I didn't report in.
December is always such a jam-packed month.
Congrats to all who've lost :banana: .
I need to go back and read up-thread and catch-up with the news.

Best Choices

Softball
Volleyball
Soccer
Dance classes
Water aerobics
Martial arts
Trail running
Swimming
Tai chi

Leisure Activities
Your first priority is to work regular exercise into your week. But also think about using your leisure time to burn off a few extra calories. Here are some extracurricular activities for your personality type:

nature walks
yoga

Obstacles
Different personalities don't just take to different activities; they have to contend with different obstacles too. Here's what you might find in your path, as well as ways to get around it:
Because you may often engage in activities that involve instructors or coaches, you run the risk of being turned off by corrections or criticism aimed at you--or anyone else in your group.
Solution: Remind yourself that the teacher or coach is only trying to help you; if that doesn't work, look for a class or team that focuses more on teamwork or a teacher or coach whose style you prefer.

There you go, Teamies!

i'm going to gripe for a minute if you all don't mind...

i hate how when i decide to go out for dinner one night and only eat half of what's on my plate, i tend to gain a ton of weight and have a hard time losing it. i feel like my 45 min of exercising is shot for that day. i'm guessing it's just water weight that i've gained, at least it sure feels that way. i filled myself up with iced tea (the unsweetened kind), just so i wouldn't feel like i was pigging out. bah.

on the good side though, i have noticed that my calves are getting much more muscle definition, so i'm very happy about that! i've never had muscle definition in my legs, even when i was little. i was a swimmer, so i had a long lean body, instead of soccer muscles (which i wish i had done now! haha!).

ok, my rant is over. thanks for listening.

wait a minute, it isn't morning. DIS was way slow at 7 am so I went back to bed. After a busy day I am finally checking in.

I get inspirational weight loss emails daily from sparkpeople.com a free weight loss site. I have received a December calender with 31 tips to healthier holidays. Here (http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/calendar_2007-12.pdf) is a copy if you are interested. For the rest of our journey together I will be sharing the daily tip with you.

SparkPeople's daily tip for healthier holidays

Walk more. Keep a brisk walking pace while you do your holiday shopping. Instead of wasting time looking for a closer parking spot, take a far-away one to increase your activity (and save time).

Red Team what you up to today? How are you doing?

Let me share some news from DS the newlywed. He and his wife are driving out to Utah after spending 5 days at a cabin by a lake in western Maryland. They were snowed in there for a couple of days. Before the wedding her car was checked out by a mechanic. He did not have time to order the part to fix her heater fan that sometimes just quits working. He suggested keeping in on all the time and hopefully they would get out West without it quitting. They ran into freezing rain on Saturday and you guessed it the heater fan quit working. They bought two cans of de-icer and kept driving. They had to pull off the road every 10 minutes to de-ice and scrape the ice frozen on the windshield. DS called from Illinois to ask DH advice. He said just stop for the night and go to church on Sunday, maybe a church member is a mechanic. We have one in our congregation.

Well it is a miracle that they did go to church with a mechanic yesterday. They were at his shop first thing this morning and the car was fixed with a minimal bill. They are now in Missouri and looking at traveling with bad weather for a few more days. They may just stay at a cheap motel for a day or two to let the weather pass. Oh to be young and in love with no real timetable to run your life. They are enjoying their adventures and have quite a few stories to tell already about their honeymoon. Mom will be on her knees quite a bit until they are safely in Utah and settled into their apartment.

Bad salad is ALL GONE!

I love popping on other forums on the DIS and seeing Red Team members making valuable contributions. Did you know one of our team members is a pintrader? As I was cruising the DIS this weekend I wondered -

Red Team question of the day

How did you find the DIS? Where do you hang out most here?

Me first. I went to disney.com a lot when I was planning a trip and somehow I stumbled on the DIS. I used to just read trip reports. I then started reading the budget board and Disney World Tips. I always knew about WISH but didn't come here much because I wasn't serious about losing weight. That has changed in the past 6 months and I am here a lot to get support. Since I started WISHing I have also been checking out the community board. There is always a lot going on over there.

Tomorrow is our next to the last weigh in. When you report please state your current weight (xxx) you may add your weekly change if you would like (I lost x pounds this week). I just need to make sure I have the same numbers you do.

Thanks to everyone that has completed the exercise personality quiz. If you haven't please take a moment to do it and earn those 5 points. We need every point to reclaim our weekly challenge winner clippie. The weekly challenge runs through midnight Wednesday night so get exercising and don't forget to report your point totals to me by 3 PM Thursday afternoon. If you are late send your numbers anyway, I will use them if I can.

I'm off to make a dessert to share for our empty nester's family home evening group at church. I hope I can make something that gets eaten up so I don't have any to bring home.

Have a healthy day!

Hello Red Team...today is my birthday, we had an ice storm here, and I made it through the day without being horrid on my diet! :goodvibes

QOTD...I never went to any forum prior to this. When I began DISing I hung out on CB, Theme Park, Budget, Transportation, DISabilities, and Resort and some DVC. Mostly the CB though. I came to the WISH boards once and asked a question, felt like a fool when I got jumped on about how busy I am and trying to fit in exercising, left and did not come back until I saw this challenge.

Brenda, you sent me into a panic asking me to say I lost how much because I can never remember my weight from the week before, lol. It scares me too much. I have one goal I want to achieve before Dec 26th when we leave for WDW for 12 days...I want to get under a certain weight. I am so close...I just need to move my butt and stop sitting so much, lol...easier said than done in my profession. Have a great day RED TEAM we can do it!!!:cheer2:

Happy Birthday Winniedapooh!!!! :cool1:

It's my birthday on Thursday....Great week for watching what you eat huh?

I don't remember how I found the DIS boards but I like to hang out in the Budget Board, the Resorts boards, and sometimes the Strategies board. I also like the WISH competition board when reading about Marathon stuff.

QOTD-I found the DIS in April of 2000 shortly after we joined the Disney Vacation Club. I was looking for information about DVC on the web and stumbled across this site. I used to mostly hang out on the Debate Board, now I just bounce between the Budget Board, the DVC forums, the Community Board and here.

Happy Birthday Michelle and to you too Robin.

QOTD - I used to almost exclusively participate online in a Usenet Disney NewsGroup, but the last time I checked it out it was almost exclusively spam and trolls...ugh. But I have participated in the DIS at least since 1999, when we were planning our first WDW trip as a family. I think I used to just mostly go on the Collectors Forum. Now I mostly hang out on the CB, here, sometimes the Collectors Forum. During the last Team WPASADI I was on a total of three different Teams and then when they were having audience challenges, I hung out on the WPASADI sub-board, but since the re-do, I don't.

And what am I up to today/yesterday?
Don't ask, don't tell.
High school is always so much fun for the parents...('nuff said about that).
Today, I'm tired. Went to bed late because of all the DD/highschool/Christmas ruckus yesterday, then one of the cats woke me up EARLY doing some eternal digging in the litter boxes.
One of them then threw up in DD's bed.
And one of them 'missed'...luckily I'm the one who stepped in it.
Any other questions?
