View Full Version : Where in Hawaii will the DVC resort be?

Anyone have any clue about the location of the beach front Disney property? This sounds like a great addition to the club.

I heard that it will be up onthe north end- not near Waikiki Beach. But i'm sure it will be beautiful!

I was kind of hoping the big island but yes, I'm sure it will be great. Looking forward to visiting there since my wife grew up on Ford Island.

It's on the west side of Oahu, at the KoOlina resort. Great sunsets there.
The JW Marriott Ihilani hotel, and the Marriott KoOlina vacation club resort are also at that site.

My husband and I went and did a tour at the Marriott that it will be next to. The beach is beautiful, and there is a great luau in the area called Paradise Cove. It is only about a five minute car ride from the site. Disney picked a very nice spot for the resort.

If DVC does not happen at the Contemporary we're gonna buy our next points there in Hawaii, the location is fabulous.:cool2:

We stayed at the Ko Olina Beach Club in February and loved it! It is a great area. Easy to get to everything on the island (if you have a car) and away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.

Here is a view of the area from the air. I believe the DVC resort will be on/near the top lagoon. The resort at the top is the JW Marriott and the resort at the bottom is the Ko Olina Beach Club by Marriott.

We ate mostly at the Marriotts. There is a great steak house at the Beach Club as well as a more casual place. There was also a really nice resturant over at the JW. Not far from the resort is a large mall area that had everything from small local place (Zippy's) with plate lunches to even a Chili's. The popular thing at the Beach Club was grilling out and if we had a one bedroom (which we plan to when DVC opens) we'd be doing that a couple of nights.

We stayed at Marriott Ko'Olina last Thanksgiving 2006. You can check out my photos here:

We stayed in a one bedroom and loved it. That side of the island is very quiet and beautiful. We also ate at Roy's on the Golf course up the road. With all the new construction in the area, the restaurant lists will just grow.

I was very excited to see DVC locating in Ko'Olina. We have owned an oceanfront condo there (Kai Lani) for over 3 years and love the area. The beach lagoons are truly some of the nicest on any of the islands. The sand is coarser than I would like, but they are man-made beaches. I hope this will give us the option of having a place for our friends to stay when we have a big group travelling with us. We usually trade with other condo owners. I don't think I want to own there, but I am wondering if that will be the only way to secure a stay.

We like to dine at Chuck's Steakhouse at the Marriott. We usually go to Kapolei for our meals or grill at home. There is a little deli at the Ko'Olina Marina that also has a grill and daily "plate lunches". That usually means salsbury steak, 1 scoop of mac salad and 2 scoops of rice. Roy's is also in the resort on the golf course. Very nice. It's always nice to know that at even the nicer restaurants, you can dress "resort casual". Very few business suits make their way into Hawaii restaurants.

BTW...property values in this resort have soared in the past 3 years. There was a bit of a slump early this year, but it has picked up a bit now.

Anyone venture a guess as to how many points it will take to stay there for a night? They will probably have to up the 160 point min. if you buy in there, it probably wouldn't cover the weekend.
