For those of you who have recently purchased at BCV...

What use year is being sold right now?

And is the $5 back incentive still being offered? Do you think it will continue until June or might they discontinue it due to good sales?

Some of Pluto for President's earlier posts have convinced me to look at a BCV purchase over a resale. What do you think??

uh oh..that's me :)

I just bought on Tuesday, so it is still offered. For how long, I really don't know. I'm sure someone else will though.

I believe they are selling February, mine was added to my Aug use year though.

Thanks, Pluto! That helps!

One more question--if you buy the Feb use year, do you get 2002 points or do you have to wait till 2003?

I know you have to wait to make reservations, but was not sure if points are issued right away.

Thanks in advance!

I can answer that one Kacey!

I just bought with a Feb. use year. I took the $5/point discount, and you get your 2002 points, BUT... you can't use them for a trip until the BCV open... the upside of this is that you get your dues pro-rated also, so I'll only have to pay dues for half the year. Next Feb, I'll get my 2003 points on schedule. HTH.

Thank you so much!

I just might have to give my guide a call in the morning!:) :)

That was a big help--HookdonWDW!

We made our BCV purchase on 2/14 with a June use year.

Initially we were told they were only selling a Feb use year but when I asked for June she said she could do that.

So the moral is ask for whatever best fits your needs as there are other options available.

Good Luck!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Feb use year: you get points now, I'm using 70 of mind and banking the rest, you can use points once you complete sale.
But I'm also taking the free nights.

Dues are not due until 8/1/02. Incentives are still going on, but probrably not much longer. My guide said they (BCV) will be gone in a year at the rate they are going. They are doing a million a day in sales, seems high to me, but that's what he said.

Have fun

Thanks M&TDISNEY and RayJay!

You answered my questions, but it does seem like BCV are selling so quickly that they just might pull the incentives. Hope not!

Thanks again.

We own at the Boardwalk and have a December use year. When we purchased an add-on at the BCV our guide gave us the same use year, December.

Takin' the plunge with my first post!
We just talked to our Guide on Friday and signed up for 150 points. I asked if we could choose an April use year (works better with our vacation time) and he said no problem! Make sure you get a use year you feel comfortable with!

He also said that the incentives would probably last for a few more months, but that business has been brisk!
Next week, I'll have to post my "I'm your new neighbor" post. :D

Welcome to the DIS, LeftyES!!!

And WELCOME HOME in advance!!

We own an OKW and BWV contract each with a Dec. use year.
I thought if we buy 150 pts at BCV, it would be alright to get a Feb use year and just bank the 2002 pts until 2003. Then we would have 300 pts next Feb. On the other hand, if we get a Dec use year, we wouldn't receive any points at all until Dec. Am I correct or just confused?

Kacey, we're in a similar situation. We have Dec use year at BW and bought 150 at BCV. I thought I might want a feb use year as well. If you have a Feb use year you will pay dues starting Aug 1. With Dec use year, you pay prorated dues for month of Dec only. You can borrow your Dec points after the June 1 closing for a ressie after Aug 1. I finally concluded that in the end it doesn't matter about use year month- you will get the same number of points over the next 40 years as anyone buying in 2002. You pay dues every Jan, regardless of your use year, so there really is little difference whether you use previous Dec points or borrow next Dec's points. Come 2041, You'll probably want to borrow to use them up before Jan 2042! Because this is a presale, there is no incentive of getting previous years points. That won't happen until early 2003 when they will probably be selling fall 2002 use years (unless it keeps going gangbusters and sells out by Jan, which I doubt)

Thanks Kem330

I understand what you're saying...so did you get the Dec use year? Sounds like you probably did.

I think I might go for Dec since it works with our vacation timing-
in case we have a last minute cancellation, I can still bank the points.

I did stick with Dec., Kacey - but I have to admit that even though it really doesn't matter, there's something psychological about getting those points in Feb. vs Dec.! Actuallly Dec. is a perfect use year for us as we like to travel Dec.- Mar. giving us plenty of time to bank if we have to cancel. :)

I know what you mean, kem.:)

I like getting those allotments of points and if it's earlier in the year, it seems like more.

Actually, because of the times we like to visit WDW, I think Dec is the right answer for us too!

Our use year is Dec - if we buy now, do we not get the points for this year and then get a new allotment in Dec, just as our existing contracts work?

Or, do we have to wait 9-10 months for the points?

If you buy BCV now, and your use year is December, they will add on December points. Therefore, you will receive your 2002 points in December, just as you do with your current points. Since the resort doesn't open until August, those of us who have a Feb use year will have the "mental" advantage of receiving our 2002 points in August, and then our 2003 points on schedule in February.... hope I didn't add to your confusion!!!

Confused on use year and banking points. Can you please explain.

Ok we vacation normally November - January. Which month should be our use year? I have heard that if our use year is Feb and our trip is in January and we cancel lets say in Dec we will lose our points. If this situation would happen I would want to bank our points if we cancel. Someone mentioned on this board that Aug should be our use year. Is that correct. How far in advance can we "bank" our points? When can you -not- bank your points? Also if our use year is Aug when can I make resv's for Nov-Jan with these points?

Sorry for the confusion. Hopefully our guide will call us up sometime this week so we can get the paperwork rolling (he was supposed to call us since Friday and still no call).

"I have heard that if our use year is Feb and our trip is in January and we cancel lets say in Dec we will lose our points. If this situation would happen I would want to bank our points if we cancel."

Actually, in this situation, you wouldn't be able to bank your points, regardless of when your use year is. If you cancel a reservation within 0-31 days of your arrival, the points go into a "holding" account. Those points are not bankable, and you can only make your reservations at the 60 day mark, instead of the usual 7/11 month window. It's basically a late cancellation penalty. If you don't use the points in your holding account by the end of your use year, you will forfeit those points. Ressies can be very hard to get at the two month mark - especially if you needed a lot of rooms, or aren't somewhat flexible on your dates.

Also, as someone mentioned in a previous post, you should keep in mind that the timing of your vacations may change over the next 40 years.

Does make sense; I guess we'll probably opt to purchase Feb use year for BCV to enjoy the "mental" advantage! (I'm sure we'll regret the decision in 40 years:p ).

It is OK to have mixed use years, isn't it? A bit more difficult to track, but that's OK....

I've been 'studying' this board while dh and I try to make up our minds to buy BCV's. I'm beginning to think that maybe with as fast as they seem to be selling that maybe we should't wait until our May 1 trip to check things out. Do you think incentives will still be offered in May?
Also, we usually take two short trips, one in the spring and one in early Nov.; what would you recommend as a use year for us?
:) My head is spinning with sooooo much information and with the added excitement of possibly buying.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I was told that if you are a current member that the use year will be the same as your other contract. I would not wait until May as it is likely the offers might be taken away at that point.

We are thrilled to own at BCV.

If there is one thing I have learned about DVC is waiting to purchase is an expensive alternative.

Today we bought at BCV, decided not to wait until our visit in Sept since the promotion will expire in June.

Instead of the 70.00 a point we took the 7 nights free, that worked better for us since we had already made ressie's for Sept. at BC.

Our contact told us they were still processing the papers from Feb 19, and to expect our paperwork in 10 Days with a potential late March closing date.

Can't wait to start planning next years trip....
