View Full Version : Some confusing "ghosting" in these photos

Can anyone explain these figures in these photos I took last week? The two photos were shot one after the other (probably about only a few seconds apart). You see them large in the foreground of the sky and small in the background to the left and in the second pic they are in the background only, but there is an extra one there. Any ideas? I wondered if some ducks were flying by or something, but I'm not sure if they would look that big especially in the background. :confused3

:rotfl: Possibly! I thought when you all started talking about Alien Bees that maybe it was them but then I realized that is a lighting setup that I never heard of.

birds - these were "long" exposures so the birds flying across are very blurry.
Sorry, no Dickens characters involved.

This was sort of what I figured. The exposures are under 1/10 second and that area that I was in has alot of ducks around that were most likely scared away by people rushing to see the castle lit up. This was just as it is lighting up.

I was going to say ducks also, because of the shape of the images. That time of day they are commonly coming in from different areas of the park to roost for the night in those ponds in front of the Crystal Palace. Pretty neat shots however.:thumbsup2

Oh yea, I'd know pixie ducks anywhere. If you squint you can see the pixie duck dust sprinkling the castle :wizard:

Those are what are called 'rods'. Some call the rainbow rows, some call them flying rods. Some think they are UFOS or aliens of some type. Do some google images searches and you can see yours are JUST like the other photos.
Most likely they are insects. But I think maybe they are aliens, enjoying the Magic Kingdom, too.
An example:

There are whole websites about these things - I remember reading about one where they saw hundreds of these things in and around caves but didn't think they were bugs. It's kinda cool.
