Snowblower Storage

Hi everyone!

I have a somewhat wierd question, and I was hoping someone on the dis might be able to help. I am looking for a small portable storage canopy for a snowblower (along the lines of the portable garages that they have for cars with the clear plastic, but much smaller) so that I can store it outside during the winter as we now have 2 cars in the garage and no room for it. So far I haven't had any luck finding one. Does anyone have something similar (aka where did you buy it) or an idea for what I can use?

Here's my snowthrower.5 Hp Toro, light enough to pick up and put in my minivan.

Bought it 4 years ago. After the dishwasher, my favorite appliance/tool in the house.

Have you checked Canadian tire or one of the Rona or home depot stores?? I think my fil got one for his at C/T.
We have a shelving unit in the front of our garage that we built high enough to house our snowblower under (which is a huge monster thing.... dh 'bought' it for me the year I broke my arm :lmao: but it's too big for me to move!! :rotfl2: thank goodness I have a 13.5yo ds that is thrilled to be able to shovel and use it) and our lawnmower also fits under. Then there's shelving over it for all the other garage junk!

We have tried Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Walmart etc. and so far no luck. I also tried the portablegarage website, but we are looking for something much smaller, just big enough for the snowblower. We are actually planning on installing it in the backyard as we snowblow both the front driveway and the back patio area (we have 2 bichon frises - very small dogs & with the amount of snow we get in Ottawa, we wouldn't be able to find the little furballs).

Have you thought about just getting a cover for it instead of a canopy type structure. I saw this one on the Canadian Tire website.

Having lived in Ottawa for 3 winters I feel your pain in snow removal. Thankfully I had a very kind neighbour that blew my driveway out when we would get those real heavy, wet snowfalls.

We have considered the cover instead of a shelter, but my mom has bad shoulders and trying to lift the cover off if its under a lot of heavy snow would be a problem (and since we are only in this tight spot because I bought a car and we now have to try to fit 2 cars in the garage, I don't want to make this any harder on my mom then it has to be).

My parents (also in Ottawa) have always kept their snowblower outside under a tarp like the one pictured. It really isn't too bad to get off. You just grab the corners and shake and the snow slides off and then you wrestle it off. Works well. I'm not very strong and started yanking that thing off as a scrawny 13 year old. The one my father has was from toro I believe and quite thick - it would really stiffen up in the cold making it even easier to haul off.

I just bought a 12x8' tarp and some bunji cords and put mine near the garage.
