Ok, so I was sad over the whole "I don't have a boyfriend" thing. But this is different.

One of my best friends is a lesbian. She came out to me in May this year. I was very, very surprised at first, because I did NOT expect that out of her. But, I accepted her for who she was and all that.

Then, she told me something else.

When she's in her 20's, she wants to have a sex-change operation and become a guy.

She says it's something she has to do, something that she's been feeling her whole life.

I'm not sure how to totally react to this. I mean...it IS her life, but the reactions of her family and friends...especially her older sister (who is bisexual herself). Her sister doesn't want her to do things like that (does not know about the plans).

I was on the phone with her earlier and the topic came up. I was crying. I told her that I was a little, then the tears REALLY started coming. She kept asking if I was ok, and why I was so quiet.

What should I do or tell her?

Support her. this isn't a rash decision to make. i'm sure shes thought a lot about it before she ever mentioned it to you.

she'll still be your best friend, even if she has a *****.

i know everyones saying you should support her, and i agree, but you may need some space first, which she should understand.

as stated above, support her. if you were to find youself in a tricky situation or whatnot she would proabaly do the same for you and have your back she just wants you love and support with her decision

If you were her real best friend then you shouldn't have to ask this question. You should just support her and her decisions and not care about what anyone else thinks.

Why would you do that? It's the person's choice! Not your's! You should support your friends when they are making these kinds of decisions. Not talk them out of it! :sad2:

That's not nice. If it's something your friend wanted, surely you should've been a real friend and supported him.

Back to the OP, support her. My best friend recently came out to me and I was so proud of her. All her life she has been so shy, but she's come out and is so happy and I'm happy for her.

Congratulations! Your prediction was correct! Anyway, I know that it might be hard to get used to, but in time, try understanding that this will most-likely make your friend a lot happier. I hope that you support her.:)
