I want to order a bouquest of flowers to be in my stateroom on the cruise. What would be the best way to do this? Does the Disney florist deliver to the cruise line? I love their work, and the Disney themed vases are great. How about Shirley at the Perfect Gift? I know her gift baskets are reputed to be awesome, but what about her floral arrangements? Is she affiliated with FTD or Teleflorist, etc.?

I'm going to be ordering some other things from Shirley, I know the cruise line charges a $7 fee, is that per basket/arrangement, or for the entire order being delivered by the same place to the same stateroom?

I live about 10 minutes from port Canaveral and have used a local florist for years that I am sure delivers to the cruise ships. They are Sandpiper Florist in Merritt Island 321-454-3312. They offer any type of floral arrangement and any type of basket, or combination for that matter, you can imagine. The owner's name is Pat and she does beautiful work (she did my wedding flowers) and her prices have always been very reasonable. I just received a brochure in the mail from Disney for their "Magical Treasures." I think you can get more bang for your buck using a local florist, but if you want it strictly Disney you may want to stick with their onboard line, or the other vendor you mentioned. Ironically, we are sailing on the Wonder on Mother's Day so I just placed the Disney brochure and a note about Sandpiper right where my husband could see it. Good luck.:bounce:

sshuttle, welcome to the DIS boards! Do you live in CC, CB, or MI?

ducklite, I've been in Shirley's shop. She definitely does flowers.

The $7 fee that DCL charges is per basket/arrangement, so if there are multiple things you ask for, Shirley will find interesting and creative ways to put them in a single basket.

So if I want to send a tropical flower arrangement -- not a gift basket or something that requires unusual creativity -- am I better off going with Disney's Magical Treasures or Shirley's Perfect Gift? Where will I get the freshest flowers, nicest presentation, and best value? (I'm leaning toward calling the Perfect Gift.)

I'd definitely go with The Perfect Gift.

I too would go with Shirley. She has done nothing but great things for me on the past two cruises and I will continue to use
her as long as we cruise.

I live in Merritt Island but have lived in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. Where is Shirley's Shop?

I would recommend Perfect Gift too. Although we haven't used Shirley for flowers, she did such a fantastic job on the baskets that I'm sure her talent and great product would be the same for flowers as well.

sshuttle,

You can see where Shirley's shop is located by looking at the map of the area on Dave's website:

Thank you, I know where that is. I'll have to go check it out. I just got back from the port and watched the Wonder leave. I pointed out our cabin to my 4 year old and husband, we're all very excited about our upcoming trip.:)

Good morning,
First off this is Shirley - been away for awhile since Norm has been under the weather - Hey there Sshuttle - what part of Merritt Island - I lived there for over 20 some years coming here from Key West - my shop is in Cape Canaveral just accross from Sunseed Vitamin shop at the Beach Plaza strip mall - we do offer some beautiful floral arrangements - I have two florist with over 75 years experience between them and they have great imagination when it comes to flowers - our challenge was making "checkered" black and while flowers for the Daytona 500 and the memorial wreath for the astronaults that were lost years ago that included Gus Grissom - Unfortunalty Disney charges us for everything we take accross the ship - we try on every order to either tie together, work it all together - whatever to save as much as possible of the cost to the customer - Now Magical Treasures does not charge delivery since they do not have to pay that charge as the other vendors (at the last that I heard anyway) - since security, we have to be very careful what is tied together since everything must be visable. Anyhow stop by anytime - would love to meet you.
Meanwhile everyone stay safe - and we are still here if anyone needs any questions asked or just call the shop - 800-950-4559.
Always,
Shirley

Thanks for the personal invite, I will certainly do that! I live in Sykes Cove (back of Villa de Palmas) about 1 mile south of the Beeline. I gave my hubby your business name and address so hopefully he'll do something with it ;) ;)

SShuttle, Let me know what kinds of baskets you see at Shirleys shop when u go to visit. Am celebrating our 25th Anniversary in May and would like to get a basket of some sorts for my DH to be in the room when we arrive. Am thinking so far of Champagne and some chocolates, let me know if you see something DIFFERENT.

If anyone has any ideas, would love to hear them.

We had flowers sent to cabin while on magic 2-9. They were beautiful. Call The perfect gift, give them your price range and you even have input on WHAT type of flowers to include.

I have always sent flowers to cabin while cruising. Usually we go out of N.Y. and the florists are very high and we never got what we asked for.

It was a pleasure to see them arrive to cabin and exceed out expectations. Well worth the money and very nice to deal with.

Mjasp,
You might want to talk to Shirley and see if she has some ideas. I had her do a 10th anniversary basket for hubby, and all I could think of were lottery tickets...I had no idea for a theme. She asked some questions about what he likes and came up with the neatest Chicago Bears-themed basket. She came up with a great theme for a crew member's basket too. Don't feel locked into what is shown on the website as she will most likely have some other good ideas.
