Lisa

Absolutely not!

Rob's still feeling the sting of having missed Grand Cayman the first two cruises, and THIS time the excursion cancelled AFTER the catamaran sailed way out.:rotfl: BUT, I still think it was a great cruise. (So does Rob, don't you dear?)

To me, the DISboards gang and the whole Disney Magic experience are what makes a cruise so wonderful, not just the ports.:)

Priscilla

We're hoping to book spring break 2009, but haven't nixed the idea of Thanksgiving 09 either. Hey, TWO Disney cruises in one year would be AWESOME!:)

AHA! I knew Ice would open up a Turkey 09 thread! Man, Ice, you are making it hard on a poor insurance agent! As much as I liked the RCCL Voyager Class ships, Priscilla is right. You just can't beat the Magic. Or the DIS Board friends

Hey guys. Keep us posted on those '09 dates and prices ICE. DD is begging for a Disney Cruise again.

What happens to Willie after 16 beers, a mud bath, some wrestling, a sandwich that's been in the sun? A nap....

OK, enough already. I'm in da house! :woohoo:

I got e-mails from Willie and Chuck, and I see Priscilla is looking for me too.

So, here I am!

2009?

I will be thinking about it.

I sure hope that we cruise on DCL again before then!

We spent Thanksgiving this year camping in WDW at Ft. Wilderness. I have a little trip report thread going on the camping board, if anyone is interested:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1647268

It's a little camping oriented, but you will see that I am still keeping it real. Go ahead and put a post on there to shake things up if you want. :rotfl2:

In 2009, my oldest DD will be 18 and in college (at least that's what we all hope), and the TCD twins will be 14! 14! Yikes! I don't even want to think about it. :scared1:

Chuck and Priscilla- how about some photos from this year's cruise? Chuck told me via e-mail you had 60+ folks linked. Not bad.

We're booked as well. But I'll tell you my Cat 4 is quite a bit more than the prices listed earlier in this thread. I didn't book until noon Pacific time and I think the reservations opened up around 5am our time. Oh well, we are on, and we're looking forward to it.

We've never been out of PC, only on the Mexico trip during 2005 for the 50th Anniversary.

We're in room 8038 and waitlisted for a suite (which I know won't happen, but I can hope can't I).

I'd also like to know if the ship is decorated for Christmas yet during this cruise, and also if they do something special for dinner on Thanksgiving.

Looking forward to chatting over the next two years - sounds like a long time, but it will fly by, I know it!

They let us keep the special Thanksgiving menus from this year. Here is what we could choose from:

Oysters, shrimp, grilled vegetables and beef prosciutto, seasonal fruits for appetizers

New England clam chowder, chilled tomato consomme, caramel apple salad, mixed salad leaves for soups and salads

Ham, turkey, cod, venison and lobster tail for the main course

Pumpkin cheesecake, apple and cinnamon tart, sweet potato pie, chocolate melting pot, sundae for desserts

Woohoo! I'm SO EXCITED that DCL finally switched to an Eastern itinerary for Thanksgiving!:cool1: The only drawback, IT'S TWO YEARS FROM NOW!:guilty: I'm trying to think of a way to squeeze in another Disney cruise between now and then. We were going to be so sure to book spring break for 2009 if it was an Eastern (which, it is, if Rachel's school sticks with the same week.) But, we'd rather sail with the Turkey Day gang too. So, this is the best of both, but still a long time from now.

Hi everyone!

Wendy -- We told Andrew last night that we booked and his first question was whether or not Lindsey was coming too? I told him that she was and he was thrilled! I'll PM you with his e-mail address so that the two of them can continue chatting.

After 3 Western cruises, we are very excited that this is an Eastern! I can't wait to take the Ferry to St. John and go to the US Virgin Island National Park...I hear there are some wonderful beaches and great snorkeling there. Not too terribly thrilled about St. Marteen though...wish they'd replace that with another day at Castaway Cay -- :thumbsup2 -- that would be awesome!

I think Turkey Day 08 we're planning on heading to WDW to get our fix of Disney just before Christmas...anyone want to join us?

I think the clock has been off on the DIS for quite a while, though before I think it was only off 20 minutes or so.

I've just starting researching excursions, and the boat racing looked good to me, too.

I'm so happy - I talked to my mom earlier today and convinced her to join us! :goodvibes I'm also trying to talk two of my sisters into booking this cruise as well. However, one of my sisters is afraid that she'll be seasick the whole time since she is very prone to motion sickness. Anyone here have any experience with motion sickness? I'm going to put a thread up on the main cruiseboards as well.

Pixie Dust for Me!
12-05-2007, 12:02 PM
Laura,

Steve fights motion sickness and I fight vertigo! Tell her to take some ginger root and dramamine and she'll be fine. We took dramamine on our last trip and Steve used it 1 time -- the night we were coming back to Port Canaveral -- other than that he was fine!

As for me...my challenges start when I get off the ship...I'm dizzy and I rock for quite a while...I'm still a bit dizzy/rocky today though it does get better each day. Hopefully by Christmas the world will stand still!

Show her your photos and remind her of 1) how much fun we had and 2) how relaxing it all is...and then, if she still needs convincing, tell her to talk to one of us!

Hey everybody... Out of the loop for a day or so, working out of town...

We were able to get the OBC that Chuck was talking about... We were also told that you can transfer to a few different travel agencies that are also offering OBC... I will try to check it out.

We had a great group for 2007 and it will be even better in 2009....

I am going to try to post a few photos this week.... I also have our 2007 photo which turned out great.

Christmas is coming !

Is everyone busy getting ready? It is a cold 31 here in West Virginia today.... I hope to at least get a few lights outside.... We don't have a tree up on one present wrapped.... I am hoping to get in the spirit tonight.. The first of the Holiday parties. The one tonight is for Larry's office.

I haven't done much shopping yet (am preparing to order most things on-line,) but I've been busy baking. (I freeze most things ahead of time so I can just thaw them a day or so before Christmas.)

Well, my DB, DSIL and nephews and niece are boarding the Magic as I type this. DSIL just called from the port, and when I answered the phone, I at first thought it was my niece, because she was squealing with excitement!:rotfl2: This is their first cruise, and they're awestruck! (Told them to get to the port EARLY so they can get Palo brunch ressies. They already have Palo dinner booked for tonight! Oh what I'd give to be back on the Magic now.)

Lisa, while in college I had a friend whose mom made the most wonderful latkes! Do you make those? If so, please make a batch and bring them with you our next cruise!:lmao: I also attended a Passover dinner at their house and LOVED the cherry wine. (Yes, I love sweet wine.):)

By the way, my DB (who's on the Magic right now) called us about an hour after they boarded and stated..'sell our house, and you can keep our car. We're not leaving this ship!' Yep, sounds as if him and his family are already hooked!;)

Hi all,

Weather in St. Louis is lousy...rain, freezing rain, general yuck at 30 degrees. The weatherman is talking like the end of the world is coming..."Major Winter Ice Storm...." Fortunately, they missed the mark again (at least where I live) although some folks in outstate MO got hit with as much as an inch of ice!

Finally bought the Christmas tree yesterday...but decided to paint the living room before we put it up. Now for some online shopping...

Hope everyone is well.

A married couple from anytown USA are at the Kitchen table. Each with their laptop, typing away... Checking out all of the known Disney sites. Wait..... The pecking away at the keyboard has stopped. From that moment, there is an excited yah hooo, HEY Look at THIS. EASTERN 2009 TURKEY! CRUISE.

Then another excited yah hoo!, we don't need two rooms, DS will be away, in the Army or out on his own. The wife says to the husband, Let's not take the Girls either!.... A quiet hush over the table......DD's come to the room. read what we are doing. Objection from their voices!

So, what's going on? We are asking the other Turkeys

ICE/ Mickey send us the scoop, Willie- the girls not going? based on your prices?

We'll see ya

John

I would have a hard time getting away without the girls...they would have a fit.

I would prolly even have to bring a friend with them again!

Right now, we are booked on the Mariner of the Seas for July 27, 2008 out of Port Canaveral. My girls liked the Voyager class ship so much, with all of the stuff for teens...You know I am DISNEY thru and thru, but it was a nice sailing. I have no major complaints, really.
Kelli loved St. Maarten and St. Thomas. And would like to return.

We are gonna see how end of year bonus looks before we decide to do the Turkey 2009.

The extra $50 stateroom credit for those who are Castaway Club members who book this week for 2009 cruises is CUMULATIVE to the $200 onboard credit, so all those who booked Turkey Day 2009 yesterday who have already sailed once (or more) on DCL should make sure they get the extra stateroom credit.

We're possibly getting ready to book for 2009 as well for our first cruise. Is Thanksgiving a good time for our first Disney cruise? Is it too crowded -- Or, are we better off going another time of year - it would be August. I just need to convince DH - and he definitely does not understand why in the world you would need to make ressies 2 yrs ahead of a vacation. He's more the type of making ressies right before you go.

All of you seemed to have had a GREAT time!

T-Day cruises are always sell outs and the Cat7-12 go real fast. Even though it is a sell out it does not feel crowded, we have done 2 of these and are booked for 2009. Just for fun check out what is left for the 2008 cruise and check the prices, this will give you a good idea why to book early.

Hi Sherrie,

We went on the Turkey Day 07. The boat was completely full but it never felt too crowded...except when you were looking for a lounge chair in the sun on a sea day.

Having never cruised in August...but having been to the Caribbean in August, you couldn't pay me enough to go there again in August...very hot, humid and it's no fun worrying about a hurricane and the impact it will have on your trip.

As for planning so far in advance...with holiday cruises, it is a necessity (and the rates only go up)!

Rob gave good advice.

We have done Turkey day for past 4 years and will be back in 2009...we are doing spring break 2008...Turkey day is great time of year to go.

One BIG problem with August, especially late August, is that it is Hurricane season and anything can happen.

One more thing...unlike other cruise lines where prices may go down just before sailing, Disney prices tend to go up, the only exception being Florida resident specials if boat is too empty, which wont be the case for T-Day.

Have not talked to anyone to much since we got back. Remember I got sick on the cruise. Well when we got home we didn't get settled in before I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital for emergency surgery. Brad was out of town so it was a challange to get the kids taken care of. I got out of the hospital last week and I am doing better. Now as far as Christmas I have not started. But you can only do what you can do. We are signed up for the Turkey Day 09 also. We booked that last year but I think that Nikki will be in Washington so we might be giving up our two rooms.
We miss you guys. We had a great time. In fact I told Brad because I missed so much of the cruise he had to take me again soon. I hope she does rebook. I really enjoyed visiting with you and her on Castaway Cay. It seems that just when one is starting to get to know someone, the trip is over!

My DB called from MCO a while ago. (While waiting for his flight. They just disembarked.)

Well, it worked! They 'had a blast,' and rebooked for Turkey Day 09! He was really happy with the fact that they're able to book connecting Cat9s for about the same price as a Cat4 (which is what they had this time) and get a 400.00 credit! So, (as of now) it will be:

Matt - (don't know if he wants me to disclose his age:lmao: )
Angie -
Matthew - 12
Manton - 11
Hannah - 8 (she'll be two weeks shy of turning 8)

Matt said that Tropical Storm Olga was so horrendous Monday night, that at that point, he thought there was no way they'd cruise again. However, the rest of the sailing was good, and that Hannah cried last night and this morning when the cruise was over. He said her reactions to everything were, ALONE, worth the price of the entire cruise. Also, their server at Palo was Tony from Spain, and that he 'gave me indigestion' because he kept bringing food!:rotfl2:

Rob's on his way now to pick them up at the airport, so we'll see them soon. I'm going to tell his kids, 'Okay, I want to hear ALL ABOUT IT!' (I love kids' first reactions to Disney cruises!)

since we are going to spring this on our teens on Christmas morning I wanted to do something that was more FUN for them. So I went to puzzlemaker and created a puzzle that once they solve all the lines each line holds a letter to the final puzzle - it is called a double puzzle - so I used phrases like - summer winter fall spring college school dance soccer computer --- once they solve all those then they have to unscramble the CIRLCED letters to find the line

There, now you're officially one of us "nuts" and that's a good thing!

Sherri,

Many of us wore matching t-shirts the first day as an easy way to spot each other. Karen coordinated ordering the shirts (and did a great job!).

Fish Extenders are the newest fun thing that DISers have been doing onboard. They are any type of hanging "basket" or fabric with pockets that you hang outside of your stateroom door. All during the week, we would return to our room to find little goodies from fellow Turkey Day folks from the DIS. It didn't have to be anything elaborate. We received tons of cute gifts like pencils, notebooks, stickers, pirate items, Thanksgiving items, candy, etc. I think there is an ongoing Fish Extenders thread on the main cruise board where you can check out the various designs.

I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of our Fish Extender and door magnets! :faint: Another fun thing to do is to design door magnets to help decorate your door. Wendy did a fantastic job at designing many signs for anyone who wanted one!

You can print off designs yourself on magnetic paper, or laminate them and put magnets on the back. My doors had designs for the DIS group, my family group, our names, and Mickey heads that we changed for each port or day at sea.

It was fun to walk around the floors and check out all of the door designs. It also is a huge help when you need to find your room! :thumbsup2

We are on the fence, Kids will be at the tough ages. Jessica will be 18, Jenna, as you know, is a TURKEY BABY, will turn 17 that week! SIGH!

It is our goal to travel when the kids are older/gone, but looking at them today, i just can't seem to realize they may not want to go on vacations with us anymore. We will be making a decision next month, I HOPE!

John

John, for our own selfish reasons, we certainly hope you book! As for Jenna's birthday being that week, what better reason then, to sail on the Magic!:bday: Jessica will be 18, and able to dine at Palo! (Not that we're trying to get you to book or anything.:rolleyes1 )

Jenna has had two Birthdays on the MAGIC, she expects more!
We will be back, it's just a commitment thing.
As i am commited to the MOUSE, i will drag the family along
They know i am SERIOUS when i say "i am going, who's coming!
We live just north of Cincinnati, right off the hwy, I-75. It is a recurring conversation when the DD's and i say "are we there yet!"
It is only 900 miles away!

It's just starting up the business has taken a lot of discretionary funds, and then some. Pay day will be a few years away. Since we are going to WDW next week, i am going to Miami to do some research for business

Hi Wendy,

Let us know when you are coming to St. Louis -- Andrew would love to see Lindsey. We would love to take you all out for dinner -- maybe one of our favorite Italian places on the Hill?

Chuck, thanks for the compliment on coordinating t-shirts. I can put together anything and get it done...but I'm no design whiz...that's Wendy! I was just lucky that someone else had a design I could borrow (hmmmm...I think Andrew said something about copyright infringement) and modify slightly!

Sherrie, the tshirts helped us to identify the folks we have been chatting with on the Disboards. It was so much fun to see all the green shirts and put faces to names. Our kids (big and small) really enjoyed the fish extender thing too....Laura, Andrew still talks about the "Pirate" stuff he got and my nephew Ian (the baseball freak) loves the Pirates pins! [Ian's career plans include playing 3rd base in the majors one day...or maybe catching...so he loves anything baseball!]

More later,

Karen

Congratulations to those of you who will be hosting DCL parties. I wish I could come.

thanks for the explanation for the shirts and fish extenders. I was able to look at whole bunch of pictures of some on another thread. Just think -- I have 23 months to gather together the supplies to make it and knowing me, I'll be at my sewing machine on 11/20/09. I sew best under pressure. DS7 was looking at the pictures with me and saying "I want that one....no, I want that one....." He was relieved when I reminded him that he had plenty of time.

I showed both DS the picture of your group from this year and they were quite impressed by the surroundings and the amount of people, especially KIDS!

Last night at midnight we decided to give the teen's the Disney Christmas Puzzle...I took a pic and maybe someone can show me how to post it later....the kids spent about 15 minutes solving the riddles then all three broke out into mass hysteria!!!

DD (15 1/2)started to cry and jump up and down...
Dnephew#1 (18 ) who last cruise said "WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT A DISNEY CRUISE" this year said "OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD YOUR FRIGGING KIDDING ME are you all SERIOUS are we REALLYYYYYY GOING BACK???" then started jumping up and down
Dnephew#2 (16) just kept shaking his head and saying "my dream came true...my dream came true"

DH is very excited and got me a POC poster for my office

so now that everyone knows it is time to get all the paperwork started and money savedddddddd...

Well, the Girls and I watched the Parade this morning.
For those who do not know me....How crazy I am about the Mouse.
They gave me a Mickey Blanket and a Mickey picture to add to the ones in our office. (It's just not about the Mouse, but the Marketing Powerhouse of the Disney Co that i want to emulate)

We will be leaving at 5 in the morning to drive to Fort Lauderdale to visit Chuck and Lisa. With a stop over visiting Julia's neices in Macon, GA.
Then a week in Orlando, my home away from home(20th time or so)

I hope people will be paying off bills in Jan/Feb so that we can make our commitment for the Turkey Cruise. It does concern me to hear about the boat selling out fast. (it must be the reputation the Turkey Cruiser's have, not saying it is a good one!)

Happy New Year!

Hi all,

Well, the stockings that were hung with care, were ripped down with quite the fanfare....the packages that were wrapped with paper and bows, were ripped and shredded leaving trash that must now go....the dinners (yes there were 2 this year) that were so lovingly prepared, have now left my fridge stuffed with leftovers leaving the kids to stare (and tell me there's nothing to eat!).

Hope you all had wonderful holidays. I think in '09 I'm going to try and stay on the deserted island (Castaway Cay) and tell Santa to find me there!

I certainly hope so.:) They were our 'next-door neighbors' on the 2005 cruise, and we enjoyed visiting with them in the hallway.

Rob and I (Rachel too, but she doesn't know) are seriously considering a Carnival cruise over spring break. It's the Carnival Destiny out of San Juan, and it visits a port each day. (In addition to St. Maarten and St. Thomas, it also goes to Antigua, and the Dominican Republic (where it overnights.) I can't remember the other islands.:confused3 ) I know, it's not as wonderful as DCL, but it's good enough to 'hold us' until Thanksgiving 09.:rotfl2: The price is good too. We just signed up for T-day 2009, our first Disney Cruise. We can't wait!!!!!

Just an inside cabin, couldn't afford the $8,000 + for a veranda for four (2 adults and 2 children). I was also amazed that instead of one cabin for four people, you can get two cabins with two people each for only about $700.00 difference. We have small children so it doesn't matter, but for bigger children that's not much difference.

Good morning all - from very snowyyyyy NH - we have over 53 inches of snow in my back yard!! EEEk....

This year started out UGH for us here. A friend and coworker passed away on new years day of a heart attack - he was only 45..:guilty: :sad2:

Then we got a call that my mothers' husband (I do not consider him my step father ) was in the hospital and they could be removing his foot! :scared1:

Thennnnnnn my dog got very very ill...so we thought he got into something in the garage...he is still in the hospital and they found that he had doggie pancreatitis...very serious but hopefully we caught it in time... $1000 of our vacation money going to this one....but I just want my furry baby home....**Update --- doc just called - puppy is wanting to come home --- he is howling and clawing the cage and wagging his tail...

Our Midwest Vacation is in 187 days - but I wish it was our cruise....

Ohhh yea -- yesterday my staff came running into my office asking for a special break....I was like - is there a REASON you all want to go on break together today... "BILL CLINTON is next door having breakfast" LOL so most of my staff went running and he talked to them and gave them autographs and pics...very very funny... one of my staff told him that my daughter had met Hillary when she visited the office where we work and he said "oh well if Renee met Hillary and like her - here is something special for her" and he gave her all kinds of things....very sweet... DD liked that one....

Ok I got to run now -- my 13 yr old puppy is coming home...

Oh gosh if I pick up my phone one more time to a get a "can we have your VOTE today" message I will just flip - I actually started yelling at a recording!! Yesterday while sick there were 37 calls to this house - now normally with a teen (very hot teen) daughter that would be normal - but she has her cell now so that rings around the clock. SO yesterday it could be my staff - yes yes that is it - they need me - so dedicated staff....BS!!! "hello is lisa d.......(pronounce my name right and you have a shot) we are from so and so's campaign and we wnat to know if we can count on you tomorrow" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" click
now of course I voted - but DANNGGGGGG enoughhhhhhhhhhh...

And today while working out I ran for the phone thinking it could be DD calling to tell me to pick her up at school - " 'ello is Mrs. D ( again PRONOUNCE the name - it is an EASYYYYYY ONE! ) there .....? " "nope but if you find her let her know that her husband & I changed the lock on the front door and threw all her stuff outside - that he wants a divorce and I am pregnant" That poor english chap was speechless and hung up.... I never did find out if it was a politician or someone that really did need to talk to me......

Well, today we canceled our WDW trip that we had scheduled for January 19-26. :sad1: Sad day, indeed. I just had a gut feeling that it wouldn't be right to pull Rachel out of school for that long. (We'd done it every year through 4th grade, and there was never a problem.) She's in 7th grade now, and even though the teachers agreed to provide assignments ahead of time, I thought it'd be too hard to catch up with everything. (There's sooooooo much homework anymore. And I wouldn't know the first thing about helping her with math.:scared1:) Fortunately, Rachel's okay with not going. (I think she's actually relieved. She already missed a week in November when she had the flu, and the make-up work was overwhelming.)

Which brings me to my next questions. Has anyone gone to WDW in mid-August, and if so, is it crowded? I know that we won't be able to just 'walk right on' to the rides as we've done in November and January. And, I can even handle crowds, but I am worried about the heat.:scared: I think I even posted this question on an another board. I'm trying to convince Rob, but he's not as eager as me. Are the lines long at night? I figured if people are at the shows (Fantasmic, Illuminations and the Main street parade) that we might, just MIGHT be able to ride then?:confused3

Any tips would be great!

Priscilla --I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip. Taking kids out of school is such a hard decision. That's why we went to WDW last Thanksgiving and are taking our cruise then as well - my children are not the best students so they can't miss a week of school.

As for August - it is very hot, very humid. Have fun figuring out when you can go.

I'm going to have to rethink this one. Rob's attitude waiting in lines, and mine with the heat/humidity..what a wonderful vacation memory!:rotfl2:

Disney in August...hmmm...bring a butter knife to cut thru the humidity...as to the crowds, it depends on whether your schools start later than Florida's schools....if Florida still out, it will be crowded.

Any tips would be great!Priscilla

We went August 9th-16th several years ago. The crowds were manageable because Florida schools had already started. I think they start later now. It was incredibly hot and humid but we took a mid-day break and went back to the resort to swim/relax then hit the parks again in the early evening. The lines were a little longer than what we experienced in Oct/Nov/Jan (when we usually go) but it wasn't as bad as June or July.

The schools do start a week or so later now...but, disney in august is still better than no disney if that is what is available for you...just bring your ponchos for the inevitable 30 minute daily shower, or two.

Howdy Yall!

Priscilla, I saw your question about WDW in August. I have been a couple of times then, and it is pretty dang humid. You will have to have a mid day pool dip. And like Chuck said. You will get a shower or two each afternoon, usually, to pump up the humidity even higher. Their weather is almost the same as ours here on the Texas coast.
BUT, it is STILL the greatest place on the planet for a vacation! You just gotta be prepared. I.E., wear very little clothes! I know that Rob will hate that! You guys would be fine because Rachel is old enough to not have "tired attacks" like the little ones have. I would not reccommend WDW in August for anyone with young 'ens in strollers!

Wow - I didn't really expect to see anything posted for turkey day '09 -silly me!

My family is headed on the 4 day wonder cruise 1/20 and we were looking to book for t-day '09 while we're on the ship so we may be joining you... We have 11 going next week, my family(5) and sister's family(4) plus our parents(2), but we hope to up it to both sets of inlaws for 09. I'm thinking we should book as mid ship as we can b/c both mil's worry about sea sickness and we'll get balconies for them and inside for us. That looks like deck 6 is the best option? Can anyone verify that for me? Do you have any other tips?

Some day I'll figure out how to add pictures & tickers... but that day is far away.

Thanks!

I do believe that DH and I will be doing the Vow Renewal on the cruise. I have started making some plans and will work toward this - I think he is just as excited as me...

We will have 10 ppl..

Me & him
DD (17)
Dsis & Dbrother in law
Dnephew 1 (20) Dnephew Fiance (20) and Dnephew 2 (17)
Hopefully Tara and Marvin ( interps from ASL )

I would like a sunset wedding - not sure if on deck 7 or where...but we shall see...

Tropical Bouquet for me and Tropical Boutonniere for him
Chocolate cake with butter cream frosting

Prelude - A dream is a wish your heart makes
Processional - Bridal Chorus
Recessional - Can you feel the love tonite
First dance - here is the UGH - I love - Beauty & the Beast...or Unchained Melody or Wonderful world.....

I may just wear a sundress and have DH wear a nice white pair of pants and shirt to match the color of my sash...or maybe a tea length gown and a whitepair of pants and a shirt and tie....

I am excited....

I just need to get all the information on this - like Palo and the reception and the pics and all that good stuff!!

Wow, the vow renewal sounds wonderful! On the '07 cruise our cabin was so close to the "secret" deck on 7 that it felt like my "personal and private verandah." So much so, that we booked the same room for next time....so I guess I'll be generous and loan it to you for the vow renewal.....:rotfl: .

In all seriousness, it would be a wonderful place to renew your vows....I'd suggest sunset as you are pulling out of Cozumel! I remember standing back there and watching the sunset with my DH and DS and it was very magical.

I'm back. Thanks for the welcome. We just got off the Wonder this morning (sob) but I booked turkey day '09  for 17 of us. All on my Disney visa card. I feel like I need to pull it,(the card), out every so often today and blow on it because its got to be smoking from that monstrous charge. Sounds like I have 6 months w/no finance charge and so far I have 1 check from people in the group. So that is 7 of us confirmed. I've been promised a check for 4 more next Monday so thats up to 11 and we'll have to see what happens with the other six over the next 6 months. They're not quite convinced yet. My sister in law has never been on a cruise but she'll be addicted once she goes and my mother in law as I said is worried about being sea sick. (It was REALLY rough leaving port this past week. My family was fine but I kept wondering how she would have done). So at any rate, if I can convince sil to go with her kids mil will have no choice.

I'm in room 2030 or 32 I think. The papers are buried somewhere. I really wanted starboard but it was more important to me to have a connecting room. Works out great with my sister and our kids. We requested the F3 dinner seating. We had it this time and it was fantastic.

Sherri - We're off I-97 about 20 min each way to Baltimore and Annapolis. I LOVE your ticker with the rum bottle(my favorite), too cute.

Chuck - Tahoe sounds great. It pains me to admit, but my husband would rather skip the cruise and go to Tahoe to ski. We haven't been there in 12 years, not since BK, (before kids). The youngest is 3 and we had her on skis last year and she did fine so he keeps talking about heading back out west again. I think the views are great there but I'd rather see great views in my bathing suit not in a ton of clothing with boards on my feet. But thats just me.

Its really made coming home a little easier now that I know I get to go on another cruise. :goodvibes

I understand completely. Andrew and I are both suffering from the dreaded cruise-withdrawl. I think our only saving grace is that we are planning a 2 week trip to Disney this summer...had to move it from May to either July or August though.

Yep, we know it will be hot and humid...but we figured 100+ degrees and 100% humidity at Disney is better than 100+ degrees and 100% humidity in St. Louis! I think we'll just plan to spend most of the day at the pool/water parks and do the parks at night.

Have you ever used the Birnbaum guides (Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World)? They have done extensive research and have published "touring plans" which denote the order in which to visit rides and attractions in order to cut waiting time. We tried it last year over spring break, and it worked beautifully. We never waited more than 20 minutes for any ride. They claim that during a busy time of year, following their touring plans can cut 3-4 hours of line time. Its actually pretty interesting to read (if you're a nerd like me) about how their research was conducted and the mathematical theories supporting it.

Just a little tip about surviving WDW during the hot crowded summer months...take advantage of the early hour admission in the morning (available if you stay on site). We are usually able to ride the "long line" rides during that hour and avoid the later in the day heat and rain showers. We escape the parks during the afternoon and then return in the evening when it's cooler and after the afternoon storms have passed.

I think my ticker must be broken, its moving way too slowly. I've never gone so long before without trips to disney planned. My sister lives in FL and used to be a cast member so we'd go down 4 times a year sometimes. Then when dd hit 3rd grade we started limiting it to 2 times and now we don't have another trip planned until this cruise:sad1: I'm definately suffering withdrawl.

Instead of getting ready for work I went back and read through this thread...

Chuck - no more comments I promise. I won't even be watching the game if it is televised. DH is the one threatening to cancel if he can't watch the game. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to "watch" it on his blackberry though I don't know how much that will cost. (We're still waiting to see the bill from our 4 day cruise last week.) Given the choice of a lounge chair in the sun or the game; I'll pick the sun. And I swear we're not the rabid type, its just so much fun to see them on tv these days. They were horrible when we were there.

Laura - If your nephew does decide to go to VT I hope he loves it as much as I did. And also what instrument does Logan play? I was always jealous that my sister got to play at disney several times while she was in hs. The band never traveled to disney when I was in hs but as soon as I left my dad suggested it to the director and from what I hear they go every other year still.

Rob - at t-giving this year we hit just the water park and got the kids a mini fix because we didn't think we could handle the long lines in the parks. But now given the fact that I don't know when I'm going back I'm wishing we had hit the parks lines or no lines.

Lisa - I just read about the vow renewal. That sounds beautiful. I didn't even know they did ceremonies or that there was a secret deck. Is that on both ships? I just went ahead and pre-ordered the passporter. I did notice a bride though on pirate's night on our cruise last week but I was thinking that she was dressed as Elizabeth in her wedding dress. As far as weddings my favorite thing that I've ever seen was the trumpet voluntary as the processional with a live trumpet player and an organ playing together.

Jodi - 3 days will probably seem short after your long cruise, but its a cruise and sounds great to me. Do you have a report posted on your med cruise? I'll have to check.

Guess I better stop the procrastinating and get ready for work.

At the all inclusive the renewal vows are only $500 and are on the beach at sunset…the cost for airfare and all amenities WERE cheaper than DCL….then I thought and I thought and I thought….then DH and I talked and talked….he said “do you think it is smart to do that?” “I am all for it since you plan amazing vacations” “Do you really think the kids would have enough to do and not get in trouble in Jamaica?” “what is the drinking age in Jamaica?” So after eating an amazing dinner that I cooked – he finally said “I would love to do the all inclusive – but I really think we should keep the Disney Cruise!” so I agreed and feel relieved --- :::: Phew :::

Someday I would love to do an all inclusive – but not with the kids :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

We did Couple Negril about 10 years ago, ie before we had Mason, and it was very nice, but, the Jamaica all-inclusives may be better w/out the kids...especially where the kids may be teenagers.

So has anyone seen Hannah Montana 3D this weekend? Mason really wants to see it. I went on line to purchase tickets this morning. There were only 2 available times (checked all theaters within about 30 min drive). The times are 11pm tonight or 8:40 tomorrow morning. Yep, we are going at 8:40 am tomorrow. Well, Mason is very happy!! :cool1:

Lisa,

Glad you didn't "stray." We've not done an all-inclusive before...but I can't imagine it being better than a Disney Cruise!

Can't wait to hear the details of your vow renewal. I don't think I could ever convince DH to do something like that, so I live vicariously through you!

well we are now torn.....do we take the extra money that we were going to spend on VR and stay at AK for 5 days ( we are already planning two days there ) soooooooo....it is hard - I want a vow renewal but everyone else votes Animal Kingdom....

DH wanted to know if there is a nice chapel on the island that we can do a vow renewal at...I just don't know where to look for one!

Lisa-

You may want to try cruisecritic. They have a board section and there is a thread for each cruise port. Good luck!! :)

Wanted to let you know we are going to see Hannah Montana on Wed Night. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus is from Eastern Kentucky and it is only 20 minutes from where we are in West Virginia.. We have heard they may make an appearence(Probably just rumor) We can compare notes !

Really miss everyone from the Gang... I am back and hope to catch up with our posts over the next few days.

PS: We are at Saratoga Springs April 7-14th.. I did not when your Spring Break Cruise was? I know it will be great.

Wendy - if you are at MK for the afternoon parade on the 12th, you'll see Logan's marching band! Lenny, Leah and I are flying down for a quick trip so we can see them.

Hope Mason enjoyed the Hannah Montana show. We surely did ! It was a packed house for us.

Hope you guys are well.

We are looking at a four day double dip on June 22nd? I have a business trip in the area and think it might work out.

We decided the double dip with Lindsey's birthday on the first day was too good to pass up. We used some our Disney Vacation Club points also... and grandma will help out a little also.

Wendy

We will be saving up for the 2009 Turkey Day cruise..

Last night we had about a two and a half inches of ice/sleet/freezing rain/snow...in general just YUCK! Ahhhh...to be anywhere warm now would be wonderful! Scraping it all off my windshield this morning reminds me again why it is that I will one day either live in Florida or Hawaii!

Hope everyone is well. I wish the counter would move faster!

I'm in Virginia, and I feel the same way. We've had some really gloomy days this winter. I'm ready for some sunshine. My vote is for California where there is no summer humidity!!
