how do you weigh your suitcase to be sure its not to heavy??

I am guessing its not a standard scale but then I have no idea have not traveled in 8 years:sad2: . Is there a way to figure out if I have hit the weight limit with out going over. I don't want to get slapped with a big fee for a suitcase thats to heavy!

It is 50 pounds per bag, 2 bags per paid passenger. I weigh them on my home scales. I loaded up a large case just now and it is only 40... and it is PACKED. :) HTH!

OH oK ao they do use a regular type scale then. :thumbsup2 I thought they has some sort of "specail " scale that they used.

so i guess I can sort of pack to see where I will be when we need to do so in a few weeks.

I bought a 50lb fish scale at WAlmart...it's small and fits right in my suitcase. It's accurate within a pound...haven't had any scrambles at the airport redistributing items since I bought it.

I purchased a small travel scale at our local triple A .. I always have a problem on the return flight home.. :confused ( I know it could be all of my souvenirs :rolleyes1 )

We bought a scale from the Magellan's catalog. It has a hook that you hang the luggage handle from to weigh. We take it with us for the return trip as well.

When I was at All Star Sports this past October, the Airline Check-in desk (for participating airlines for the ME) had a scale that I was able to use.

That is what a do as well! Looks silly but it works, if I put the suitcase on the scale it covers the read out.

I weigh my self, then again holding the packed suitcase. When we are packing again to go home, I try to keep the same items in each bag so the weight will be close to the same. I also put a medium bag that can fold flat in one of the front outer pockets of the suitcase in case the weight does go over. Then I can pull a few things out, enough to get it under the limit and put those items in the extra bag. Hasn't happened yet, but I always have that extra bag there just in case.

Those hoook-on travel scales are one of the best inventions! I was so tired of repacking everything at the airport so nothing was too heavy. Saved me a lot of trouble!

A friend of mine takes hers to the post office and uses the self mailing scale in the lobby to check it.

It works great for her. :)
