I'm attempting to bake Christmas cookies for the first time from my Dearly-passed-on-MIL's recipes. I followed her spritz recipe to the "T" but they taste salty. What can I do to the existing dough to tone down the salty taste?

Try unsalted butter? I always use salted myself, as I HATE unsalted, but I never add any salt to the recipe.
