OMG..last night the family went to see the house my DD Zena hopes to be renting in three weeks. Other DD Tara is moving to Los Angeles come January...that means..gulp...an empty nest. I can't even wrap my mind around it at this point.
DH and I are both excited and anxious..we've never been without kids! (his ex girlfriend had a son who we continued to help raise even after they broke up)...so we've really never known life together without parenting!
This means more trips to Disney for me and more...more...well, never mind!

It's funny, Rosie... I am facing the same thing--when my youngest son leaves for college the year after next, it'll be the first time in 36 YEARS that it's only been just my husband and me in the house. I am kinda freakin', honestly. I'm starting grad school in January and I've started looking at art supplies (right now -- only paper, charcoal, and good ole' crayolas -- the good stuff is even more pricey than I remember  ).
I wish I could say that I'm ready to embrace this phase of my life...but I'm really not. :confused3 I am really going to miss having teens around the house on a daily basis -- with all their energy, drama, and interesting perspectives on things.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who really, truly enjoyed having the kids around.
I guess you and I will have to be cheerleaders for each other and support our growing independance. While I hate the idea of an empty house it could be fun.. Heck, I bet in a couple of years you and I will do a mature girls trip to Disney and show Mike and Conk what it means to rock!

Oh ladies, bring it on! ConcK and I could take you over to the trail to show you how professionals party! And I can guarantee at 3 AM the words "Smothered, Covered, and Chunked..." will be coming out of your mouth!:rotfl2:
As far as being in the house alone, drive to the pound and adopt a baby! :thumbsup2

The fur-babies I adopt come from the BLM and weigh 700# on the hoof when they are one year-old. (still need a mom, though :goodvibes ) I am thinking about maybe getting another coupla mustangs next spring. This one was wild as a deer when we got her and now, nothing makes her happier than having 3 or 4 little kids climbing all over her.
