This 74 year old guy is looking forward to his holiday annual solo trip to WDW as usual. Someone once asked me why I would want to visit WDW every year. The man who asked is a fellow who goes on a week long fishing trip at least once a year. Duh.
I first made a reservation for five nights at the Contemporary for a room in the tower with a Magic Kingdom view. Thinking that discounts would be on hand, since I'm a Florida resident, a AAA memer, have a Disney Visa, have an annual pass, and am a frequent/long-time visitor to WDW.
But no discount was to be had, and the total room charge for the five nights would have been $2,216.90. So ... I changed my reservation, adding a night, and made plans to revist the French Quarter for six nights. The total room charge, including tax ... $742.50 ... Duh.
I had to rebook all my meal reservations, but was able to do so without much problem. Now my plans look like this ....
Sunday, Dec. 9th Drive the four or five hours from my home to WDW, settle into my room, go to Epcot in the evening for dinner at Teppanyaki Japan, and watch IllumiNations.
Monday Spend the day at the Studios, having dinner at Mama Melrose's just before the Osborne Family Lights go on, and exiting the park just before the Fantasmic mob gets out.
Tuesday Spend this day at the Magic Kingdom. Lunch at the Crystal Palace, and stay in the park for the Christmas Party that evening.
Wednesday Spend day at Epcot. Lunch at Nine Dragons, and dinner at the San Angel Restaurante. Exit before IllumiNations.
Thursday Day at the Animal Kingdom, Lunch at the Tusker House, leaving the park at 6:00 and taking bus to the Contemporary, dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse. Taxi back to the French Quarter.
Friday Day at the Magic Kingdom, lunch again at the Crystal Palace, and in the afternoon take the monorail to the three mono resorts to see the decorations in the afternoon, returning to the Magic Kingdom in the evening for the second Christmas Party.
Saturday Sleep in, check out, and drive back to Tallahassee, looking forward to my next trip in 2008. Perhaps to see a few spring training baseball games if the mood strikes, and of course, another solo holiday visit in November or December of 2008.
I'll make a trip report after the visit is completed.
