Oh well.... at least it's the end of November. Stay safe if you have to drive anywhere today everyone!!

My 13yo is staying home with me today b/c his bus is cancelled - he'll be thrilled and my almost 8yo ds will be ticked b/c we back onto his school so he can walk!! :lmao:

I just looked on the air canada website and dh is gonna be late - he's been in Virginia all week and seems the 2nd portion of his flight from New york to Toronto has been cancelled  Hopefully he will get on the next flight but the turkey has turned his cell phone off so I can't catch him.

Stay safe today everyone!!

Clean off your car, top up WWF.

I woke up early and cleaned off the DW's car, it was caked in ice.
If storm persists I'll head off to the parking lot at the train and clean off her car during the day.

Salted the driveway and sidewalk.

Leave early, leave plenty of room, don't be in a rush!

School buses are canceled here in Mississauga, sidewalks very icey!

In my opinion freezing rain is far more treacherous than snow.

Weather like is not unusual for this time of year.

Get ready for the folks who get real snow to flame us.

Although trying to move 5 million people is not easy on a good day.

Which school does he go to if the bus is canceled? My daughter goes to GCVI and of course since it has only been closed once in 20 years (last year on the cold snap) she had to head out -- lucky for her though she takes the city bus.

I am getting ready to head out to scrape the car URGH hubby better have made sure i have one of the gazillion scrapers in my car!!

Oh BTW you might notice I am also a GUELPH-ITE

Are you sure you don't need us to call in the Army? They are just a couple of floors up from my office. I'm sure they wouldn't mind. ;) :lmao:

He is only in gr 8 so goes to CA - takes a school bus and all busses in the UGDSB were cancelled today.

No worries though - he walked all my munchkins to school this morning, baked cookies with the daycare kiddies that don't go to school, just took the dog out to throw the ball for him and this afternoon he's making apple crisp for dinner tonight and he'll go do school pick up.

He's enjoyed the day off so far and I've really enjoyed having him home!!

:)

I'm from Guelph too and the CDSB all there buses were cancelled too. Had to take my son to the doctors and drove by the school and only about 50 kids were on the playground. The school holds 650.:scared1: Took me 1/2 hour of running the van for the ice to melt. Now other son is using the road infront of our house (were in a sub-division under construction) as a ice rink and sliding from our driveway to the one across the street. Oh to be a kid again and having fun. OH I will at WDW:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm in Ottawa, after last year where we had no snow until January I'm not used to this. I keep thinking its going to be SUCH a long winter with so much snow already on the ground. Luckily there's that Disney trip to break it all up.

I know we have a picture of the house dated January 8th no snow at all. It was beautiful we were out in just heavy knit sweaters. Unless they are right about mondays forecast I dont think its going to happen this y ear. According to the weather its supposed to warm up Monday/tuesday I'll believe it when I see it and all this snow is gone~!

Where are you in Ontario to get 50 cm's of snow?

It's pouring here in Mississauga. I hope we don't we don't have a flash freeze overnight.

We were at my sisters in Guelph this afternoon and they had freezing rain.

Here's my BBQ as of 19:30.

Roads were terrible here in Guelph too - not sure if the town knows that they are supposed to clear and sand the roads when it snows :lmao:
Last week when we had the freezing rain they went to the street just above us and didn't bother with our part of the road - I guess they figured the only 3 houses before construction could slip and slide  Thankfully they did plow our part today AND they pushed it all across the road for us!! nice plow drivers!

Let's hope that this doesn't mean it's going to be a nasty winter!!!

Yup us to. I considered being a mean mom and driving my daughter to school but I ventured out around 7 for physio appointment. NONE of the side roads are plowed and the only reason I made it off my own street was because we have a truck. Not going to risk life and limb to get a 5 year old to kindergarden to no school for her. No work for me.

Well thank goodness I work at home - busses were cancelled here today and good thing too - roads were sheer ice.
My almost 8yo wasn't impressed with me that he had to go but schools were open and we back onto the school and there were only 3 kids missing in his class. He's getting a 'mental health' day on Friday though - we're baking :upsidedow

We live outside the Ottawa region, and our local small town radio indicated we had hit the 50cm mark this afternoon.

We are expecting another 10-15cm tonight, and then tomorrow is supposed to be a nice, but chilly day. In as much as I love the white wonderland, I'm VERY thankful to be heading to sunny, warm Orlando tomorrow.

Our kids RARELY get snow days. Today the school wasnt even open it was so bad. Usually the buses will be pulled off the roads occasionally but the schools are usually still open. Not today. Everything was canceled. 16 days till we hit DIsney.. Looking out the window.. I cant wait.

I am also in Ottawa and yesterday I used up a full tank of gas running my snowblower three times!!
I'm going to WDW with my Mom and DD and Photobear Sam and her Hubby in 11 days time and I'm worried that when it starts to snow on main street, that I might develop a really bad twitch:scared:
To all those who are still digging out, good luck and take it slow, you don't want to hurt anything before Christmas:santa:

I know that the snow and ice have made for bad road conditions and all, but aren't you just a little bit excited that we might finally have a white christmas again. I personally would rather look out the window and see clean white snow, rather then brown mud. It might also be that I am an avid downhill skiier and a christmas fanatic!!! So here's to a possible white christmas and a real winter.

(Feel free to yell back, this is only my opinion!)
