disney marathon 2009????

hi there, this is my first post, i have now collected enough tesco points to pay for my disney trip, HORRAY!!!!, and am desperate to book but want to be there to take part in the 2009 marathon weekend, it seems to be the first weekend in jan usually but has anyone got the proper dates:cheer2:

I believe the dates of the marathon weekend are January 9 - 11, but don't quote me on that as I can't quickly find any confirmation on that. But that's the date that is stuck in my head.

Also, we can sign up for the 2009 marathon January 14th, 2008 (and you can quote me on that!)

And don't forget to check out the W.I.S.H. (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=59) forums (under the section "Events/Competition (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109)") where you'll find a lot of us DISers who are interested in Disney's running events, and running in general, hang out to give each other support and encouragement. We'd love to "see" a new face there.

Can't really help much...But I just decided this week I was going to compete in the Minnie Marathon in 2009. Don't know that I will be able to handle the full marathon for quite a while.

Tesco is a UK supermarket - you can convert the loyalty points they give you with each shop into airmiles. I presume this is what the OP is referring to (as I'm doing the same thing!).

Last three years it was the first weekend in January after NYE and we went each year for DS to run and have a WDW vacation the week before.

This coming year, 2008, it was moved to the second weekend (12th & 13th), which meant we could not go because the kids were back in school. :mad:

After asking many Disney CMs who did not know why it was moved......I finally got a CM at another marathon expo who told me it was always the weekend BEFORE the MLK holiday weekend. Her answer was almost too simple so I went home and checked my calendars. Sure enough it always fell on the weekend before MLK weekend............so my best guess is that it will be the same for 2009. But if you are going to be booking a trip, you might want to contact Disney Sports to be sure. Or just wait until next month, they always announce the dates for the next year during marathon weekend.
