View Full Version : Round 5--Scrapping with Swapped Items--WE HAVE A WINNER!
StitchIsOurHero

Ok, y'all, it's Round 5!!! I have to say that I absolutely love these challenges, because it is so inspirational to see others pages, and it motivates me to use swap items! In this holiday season, cozy up with some scrappin' and use those swap items!!
Starting November 21 until January 31, post your pictures of layouts you create using at least TWO swapped items. These are NEW layouts, not ones you have already done. Any swapped item can be used. You do not need to remember which swap or who they came from. Your pages must be 6x6 or bigger. But any size variation is welcome. They can be single pages or double layouts, but each page must have two swapped items. Your name will placed in the Disney jar for every page you create up to 15 pages. This is not a who did the most or best. It is for everyone who tries.
If you are unable to post pictures, or don't know how, you can email them to me and I will post them for you. Just pm me for my email address!
The winning name pulled will receive a SCRAPTACULAR PRIZE--a chipboard album from the "Love, Elsie" line of KI Memories. In honor of our DIS love, it's lime green! The circles say "funfunfunfun" in them (what we all have here!!). Here's a pic:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/70750prize-med.JPG
The winner will also host the next round of this challenge. So only enter if you are okay with hostessing.
This is open to old swappers, new swappers, anyone who has swapped here is :welcome: to join this challenge.
Names in the Jar (up to 15 pages count in drawing):
MazdaUK -- 33 (+5 for being in before extension)
NewEnglandEeyore -- 11 (+ 5 for being in before extension)
Dreamer & Wisher -- 16
rlovew -- 11
MickeyTeacher -- 13

OKay, I scrapped last night and I'm bad, I take my swap items out of the bags to organize so I couldn't tell you who did what... is this a problem?

Nope.
Giving credit is nice and gives that warm fuzzy feeling, but it is not necessary.
Besides, those who made them can then post "Hey, that one is mine, Thanks for using it."

SIOH -- after seeing your pages from your most recent Disney trip I am definitley inspired! I am hoping to get something done this month. My New Year's Resolution is to set aside one night a month for DD7 and I to scrap Disney pages. I am getting her her own scrapbook supplies for Chrsitmas and she wants Santa to bring her a polka dot 8x8 album and a scrapbooking kit. So if not this month, I should definitely be in for the next round.

After watching the CRAZY UT football game today, DH & I decided that we needed a break from Christmas decorating. So, he played videogames and I scrapped!! I wanted to post these because they have swap items in them, even though mine don't count this time. These are pages I've done since Wednesday evening (gotta love Thanksgiving Break!!). Best of all, I finished my September 2007 WDW album!! Whoo-hoo!!! Now to put a dent in all of the other scrappin' stuff I'm behind in.
Anyway, enough rambling! Here we go. . . (I apologize for the quality of the pics--battery was dying--and for the messiness of my scraproom, which you can see in some of them!!).
The borders on this one were made by Hopemax--I got them in the "Hope request" part of the surprise swap!

The borders and slide mounts on this one were also made by Hopemax--also from the "Hope request" part of the surprise swap!

The file folder, tag, and journal box on this one were made by momx3boys.

The photo mats on this one are from a swap, but I'm not sure who made them. I think they were for Jungle Cruise, but I liked them for the safari! ;)

The photo mat and paper piecing on this page, and the photo mat and matted quote on the next one were made by hopemax for the AK Kit swap.

I had to laugh when I saw your picture of your door at your hotel. When we stayed at AKL, I also took a picture of our door and a member of mousekeeping was walking by as I did so. She gave me the strangest look, like I was crazy. Well clearly I wasn't the only one to think it was worth taking a picture of!

I'm finally using some stuff! I'm working on the chronological albums, so I don't have as much swap stuff to use as I do for Disney, but here are a few pages I used with things from the Holiday Slide Mount Swap (along with some things from my Secret Sister thrown in!).
Each page uses 2 slide mounts
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o248/NewEnglandEeyore/Swap%20Item%20Challenge/IMG_4896.jpg
(It's not obvious why this is a Christmas page, but the other page of the 2 page spread has pictures of my kitty with Santa.)

Ok, I think I'm going to extend this through January 31st, if that's ok with everyone! However, Rebecca got me to thinking about people who had already done a lot and would have had a better chance. I'm completely open to suggestions here!! :thumbsup2

Here are some pages I have done in the last few days:
Innoventions page 3: The pocket and tag are from an Epcot swap- i think AWM did them.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1483.jpg
Innoventions page 4 (pages 1 and 2 wer done back in June time.)- the upper frame, tag in the pocket, and the sign are mine from an EPCOT swap- the pocket and tag on the other side are from the same swap but I think AWM did them also.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1481.jpg
Canada pages:
page 1: all elements are from an EPCOT swap page kit- I think by Hopemax but I am not sure.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1479.jpg
page 2: the journal box is from a different Epcot swap and the mat, Mickey, and squares are from the same swapper as the other pages stuff.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1480.jpg
Pirate and Princess Party Pages (finished off the book)
Beauty and the Beast in the parade- these items are from character swaps and the squares are from a yellow color swap bag.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1478.jpg
Parade Page:The upper mat is from a color swap kit- I actually cut it down some to fit where i wanted it. The flowers are from another color swap kit.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1484.jpg
Intro Page: The mats are from a swap- I have no idea what one- the file folder treasure box is from the pirate swap as is the pisate Mickey. The castle square I believe is part of a cinderella character swap.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1477.jpg
Solaris Sytem:
Page 1- the topper and tag are mine, the upper 2 mats and the square is from the color swap. These are photos of DH being choosen to participate in the break dancing.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1493.jpg
Page 2- from the dance party- the squares are from the same color swap as the last page, the planet is part of the solaris system kit I did.
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1491.jpg
Fireworks Photos:
The topper and tag are from my fireworks page kit 9Pirates and princess Swap). The moon is from the same kit as the castle from the title page
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1494.jpg
Page 2: the mats are part of the kit from the previous page
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t302/rlovew/IMG_1495.jpg
Page 3/4: The title is from a priate and princess fireworks elements, the file folder is from the same kit. The upper mat on the next page and the 3 squares are from the color swap kits.

MazdaUK -- I have only one swap item from you -- a Main St Topper & tag from the MK newbie swap last spring. I really liked it. I promise to use it if I ever get around to scrapping something! (For the record, the swap pieces you received from me are my least favorite -- I'll use the excuse that I was new.)
Of course, if we had gotten the ABC swap back I would have had more from you!

Page 13 was from the character swap (Ariel)
Page 15 was from the character swap (Sleeping Beauty)

Page 25 was from the surprise swap (Mickey)
Page 27 was from the character swap (Minnie)
Page 29 was from the surprise swap (Donald)
Page 31 was from the surprise swap (Pluto)
Page 33 was from the character swap (Goofy)

I'm not sure who made what because I did not keep the tags. The idea behind the book is that there is a decorated tag on each of the character pages inwhich we can get the characters to sign. I'm planning to make two more of these type books for my kids for our up coming trip in June.

This is a first for me. I'm posting that I actually used some of the swap items I've received. pretty in tink and I made some paper bag albums yesterday to give as a gift today (our first attempt).
I used ribbon from rlovew (2nd chance swap I think) some assorted paper and some brads from both of my Secret Sisters, bearbear and partyof3! It came out quite well. pretty in tink's did too.
Since I gave them away today, I have no pictures to post and am not in the contest. I just wanted to say I finally did it and this seemed the place to do it.

At my work every year we draw names for Christmas. This year I drew one of my favorite co-workers.. I decided that i wanted to make her a scrapbook and I THANK you all for helping me. Almost everything in her album was from swaps! I know I was in awe that I could use so many things. I did alter a couple things a tad bit but only because a flower on a boy page wouldn't have looked right :)

I just finished the last of my 6 page homage to Disneyland's It's a Small World ride. It is my all-time favorite ride at all of the parks. Just rounding the corner and getting a glimpse of the exterior makes me happy and I LOVE the decor and the song. I had the chance to see the chime show exactly 12 hours apart - 11:30 am and 11:30 pm. Both times were equally magical!
The first two page layout covers the exterior and the chime show. The Jolee's pack on both pages came from my set in the WDW Event Swap I just hosted.

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z318/scrappygirl_photos/My%20Pages/102_3612.jpg
The second two page layout talks about my favorite parts of the ride interior and has the lyrics to the ubiquitous song. Matted lyric was made by galtscrapper from the ride swap a few years ago and the deco squares were from my first swap ever hosted by disneyland_emily back in 2005. I don't remember who made them - sorry!

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z318/scrappygirl_photos/My%20Pages/102_3617.jpg
This final layout covers the "ferocious shrubs" found on the exterior of the ride. They are just one last piece of the magic that combines to make this my favorite ride! The first layout contains my favorite pic of the exterior - I just LOVE the contrast of the deep blue sky, the sparkly white exterior and the shine off the gold accents. Bling flowers were from a $0.41 swap; Primas on the second page are from Diana Lyn's prima swap.

Love all the pages!!
Shauna - I had a huge stretch of time between going to DL and WDW as a little girl and going back to WDW as an adult. IASW was a ride that took on mythical proportions in my memory. I knew I loved it and I had that image of that grand DL facade in my mind. When I saw WDW's version, it was such a letdown (from the outside at least). I have got to get back to DL someday!

Thanks everyone!
I so know what you mean, NEE. I rode IASW at MK the first time and loved it so it was like a fabulous gift the first time I saw the wonderful exterior at DL. The exterior really does make the whole ride more magical. I hope you get to visit soon!

And you too, Nancy - why would I re-do it, silly? It just goes to show you how long I've been hoarding swap stuff. That character swap was I think my second swap here and I'm just using it now.
I confess, Mickster - I don't know which ones were yours. Some things I kept in their original bags, but most I have long since mixed together.

Only 2 pages tonight. It took forever, but I am really very pleased with the results. Thanks to PrincessNancy96 for the topper and tag from the Shows/Parades swaps she hosted in the later half of 2007. I copied her Mickey with Jungle leaf piece and added it a few other places in the layout. The 2nd page has only one swap item -- from our MIA ABC hostess. It was from the MK newbie swap summer 2007.

Congrats Mickeyteacher!
I just caught up reading this thread and am so happy TPCShauna has used the boardwalk piece!! Yippee! My first time seeing something I made being used! I love your LO and will have to scraplift if you don't mind! Now I just have to actually start scrapbooking...and not just working on swap stuff!!! Everyone's layouts are so lovely...I really am so impressed by you all and your creativity...real inspirational esp. at 5am!

I'm so happy you saw the layout! It totally didn't count for the challenge but I wanted to make sure I posted it so that you could see it in action. DH LOVED that piece. He couldn't get over how lifelike it looked so good job to you.
You are more than welcome to scraplift the page in all of its boring glory if you would like. I can honestly say that your piece was the perfect addition to the layout.
