Quick questions for those DVC'ers who use their points for the Disney Cruises.

When using DVC points you can only get up to a Category 4 Cabin, Category 3 and up can only be had for cash.

Has anyone booked a Category 4 Cabin and then paid cash to upgrade to a Cat 3 Cabin? My though is that if there are available Cat. 3 Cabins not rented when you get onboard, why would they not let you pay the extra cash and upgrade to the Cat 3 Cabin.

I have not specifically asked Disney Cruise Lines this question, they only told us that Cat. 3 Cabins are only for cash customers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

I was allowed to upgrade from a DVC Point paid Cat 9 to a Cat 6 by paying th cash difference on our Sept cruise. When I asked about paying the difference, they never asked me or looked up how I paid for the original room, they looked on a sheet of paper to determine the difference. (This upgrade can only happen when you are at the terminal after you have checked-in)

That said, I will warn you. Catagory 3 are one of the fastest booking catagories on the ship. The likelihood that one will be available the day you board the ship will be small. Also just in case you haven't compared the prices. The cash difference between Cat 4 and Cat 3 is in the thousands.

I inquired about that very thing in October when we checked in at the terminal. We were told it was be an additional $1,270 to move up to the category 3. It seemed a bit high as these rooms were sitting vacant anyway.

Have a great cruise!
