Hi guys,
I was wondering if any of you could help me out?
My son is 8 and says he would like an ipod....great but I have no clue? I started looking and seen mp3 and ipod's I kinda get the difference, but not really who am I kidding? :sad2:
Can anybody tell me what kind they have, and what one you think would be good for an 8 year old boy, its his first one, so easy to use would be a big plus as well!
Thanks,
Dana :grouphug:

I have the Archos 605 (http://www.archos.com/products/gen_5/archos_605wifi/index.html?country=global&lang=en) but I personally don't think that would be a good 'first' MP3/MP4.
Assuming he likes Disney and seeing as it's his first I would probably recommend the Disney Mix Stick. They come in a range of colors and designs. Here (http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Mix-Stick-MP3-Player/dp/B000MWG42O/ref=pd_sbs_t?ie=UTF8&qid=1195582050&sr=8-1) is a link to a POTC one.

Some tech info from Amazon.
Technical Details
256MB internal storage
Expandable MMC/SD card slot up to 1GB
Also holds data great for homework
8-hour built-in rechargeable battery
Stereo earbuds included
Not a massive amount of memory space but should be just about sufficent for an 8 yr old.

I have a pink 8gb nano. It doesn't always work too well somtimes though, but that may be because we bought it off eBay.

I have a Microphoto.. but really, he's eight, he doesn't need something with like 4 or 8 GB on it.
A Ipod shuffle would probably be good, it's small and clips onto your clothing. If he's likely to watch vidoes on such a device, then obviously the new nano would work better.

Like WDWLIGHTNINGZ said, the Disney Mix thingy would be good. Because it's good for younger kids for their first music holder whatever.
But if you really want to go with something more...uhh high-tech? I would say either an MP3 or an iPod shuffle. They're both small, and honestly what would an 8 year old need to watch videos on a small screen for? Just my opinion. Hope it works out well :)

My sister is 8 and has a little MP3 player of her own, she loves it...filled with High School Musical songs :)
I would say go for an MP3 player, it should be enough.

I'd go for the iPod shuffle, It was my first music player and I was 9 when I got it. I was a happy camper. but I do have the Disney Mix Stick and that's pretty good too.

I have the old school I-pod Nano.
I like it, it works well and its small and convenient.
But I personally don't like the I-pod Shuffle because you cant see what song comes up and I personally wouldn't like that.

i have a 2gb sandisk sansa monster ... i like it a lot.. its a lot cheaper than an ipod, and has wma compatibility.. plus you can expand its memory capacity with micro sd cards.. so technically, you never run out of memory space.. you just buy new micro sd chips lol.. and its not too hard to use either.. it works like a flash drive.. you just copy and paste a song into the systems music folder

My cousin is 8 and he told his mom the same thing about wanting an ipod but for an 8 year old ipods are a little complex and can get really expensive. So for an 8 year old i say an MP3 player only because they are cheaper and if he plans on taking it to school and stuff so he can listen to his music you don't have to be so worried because he has a $ 150+ electronic with him. although ipod shuffels are like $85, but for a kid his age i say MP3.
