Hi there,
If I saw this thread I would usually post a list of things to take, but now we're going I'm having trouble remembering what I need to bring with me.

I have a feeling that when we stayed before, we ended up buying plastic plates and bowls as there were only 'paper' ones in the room, and also that in order to slice cheese we had to buy a sharp knife.

I'm going to pack the plates, and bowls, but should I take a knife? If so can I pack it in my suitcase without anyone worrying about it?

I'm also taking a kettle, but can you remind me if I need to take a bottle of washing up liquid and a tea towel?

Thanks for your help, we leave for the airport on FRIDAY... can't wait!

We also leave for the airport on Friday - flying on Saturday's Virgin flight at 12:45 :cool1:, then checking in to SSR for two nights, with two nights in OKW at the end of our trip after a stint on the coast :thumbsup2

There are only plastic knives in the studios, so a sharp one would be useful, and it will be fine in your main suitcase in the hold - just don't try to take it in hand luggage!

You won't need washing up liquid or washing up sponge as they're provided, There is no tea towel, but plenty of paper kitchen roll.

Have a great trip! :)

Just back from an OKW studio and they did provide a tea towel. On just one visit (of many) did I need to request one, and I think maybe they call it a kitchen towel ..... I remember having one of those 'English/American' moments when housekeeping didn't seem to understand what I wanted ;)

I also pack a small sharp knife and a flat glass plate (less than $1 from Wal-Mart) for cutting up grapefruit, pineapple etc, coffee and coffee filters (basket type).

Have a lovely time all of you :)

I was just going to say that all the studios we stayed in they did have a tea towel. There was also plenty of bowls and plates for us.

I don't pack a sharp knife, we usually buy a cheap one when we get there.

Have a great time.

We had Tea Towels; Kitchen roll; and washing up liquid at SSR. We improvised for plate and bowls.....used the packaging from our take away cakes.:lmao:

Also had DVD player in the room (never used - I wasn't going to waste valuable WDW time sitting in my room watching TV).

They also had an outdoor "cinema" by the pool (lcd projector onto screen).

Yes, we also had a tea towel in our Studio at SSR in August, along with a miniature bottle of washing-up liquid and a sponge. I was very surprised at the lack of proper utensils, only having stayed in a 2 Bed and a Grand Villa (what a show off :rotfl: ) previously. We ended up buying a couple of Mickey bowls and wine glasses, but we never did track down cutlery - we could only find full sets, not single place settings. Mugs were provided.

Enjoy your trip. :goodvibes

You can buy a set of 4 knives, forks etc for $ per set at Walmart;)

Looks like I've been missing out on the tea towel then ;) :rotfl: , although I can't say it's ever ruined my trip ;)

I must confess to washing out the paper plates and bowls to re-use when desperate, but I wouldn't recommend it!

We signed up with Owners Locker (http://www.ownerslocker.com/) and now I know that everything we regularly use or need will waiting for us when we arrive with no need to cart it back and forth across the Atlantic :thumbsup2

Hi,
Once we have checked in we just ask housekeeping for "ceramic" crockery and metal cuttlery (hate the cardboard and plastic) and everytime they have been fine with the request. Costs a couple of dollars for the tip but well worth it imho.

Some great ideas on here. Thanks folks. The owners locker souds a great idea.. prob not for this trip, but once r2d2 is born (we're not really going to call him that) and we're making trips with kids, I could see it being really useful!
