Hi all,
Ok well I said I was going to start a pre tr and here it is. Nothing exciting just my basic info for the upcoming trip.

Let me first do the back story (the readers of my other thread know this but it may get more in depth).
I was at WDW in July of this year and loved it. I went with 7 others and it was a blast.

so anyway I had the most wonderful trip but it was way too short. No one wanted to go next year. 2009 they all say, but I cannot wait that long.
So now it is August and I go to West Virginia and visit family. I had an idea of taking my younger cousins with me. There mother stops by my Uncle's and while on the porch with the kids inside I ask her if it is ok. She says yes. I say I will pay most of it and she needs to pay so and so. All agree. As we are talking the kids keep coming out the door and we yell at them to go inside. They looked so confused, they must have thought they were in trouble. :rotfl2: So the plan was in motion. We go inside and sit the kids down. I wish I had a pic of there faces. I explain to them that in April I will be taking them to Disney for a week. (where did this plan go ) :confused3 They were shocked and excited. There faces were to funny.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g134/scottny/2007-0194.jpg
So here are the kids Jake, Sissy and Tiny. That is what we will call them on the trip. So I finish my trip and go home and start planning.
Now September comes. I am planning away and my sister in law mentions going down during spring break. :yay: more grown ups. Ok so I start researching how crowded it will be. Not to bad. So I talk to P about getting the days of the kids break.
Now I have to input here that I decided to go to school for a certificate in paralegal. This was originally going to be from 10/2 till 3/28. Perfect. The trip will be from 4/5 - 4/12 and my brother and dsil and dnephew will be coming.
Oh the horrors of a school. Now it is about a week before I am to start and I call and they inform me that my info packet was mailed in August and returned. They had the wrong address and I even called about this a month ago and asked them to fix this. Now school is not happening so I transfer to another school here in NYC. Ok now wait a minute I am not going full 6 months anymore, it is now broken up.
So I start playing with the idea of going in January. I notice it is a little cheaper so I ask P if they can go in January for a week. She said yes. :woohoo: So I now inform my Dsil that I am probably going in January. I go to AAA and inquire after checking the rates on the Disney site. I book.
Now after inquiring with P I do not book the 7 day vacation. After getting approval from their schools I book a 10 day 9 night vacation. 1/19 - 1/28.
We are staying at POR and I requested AB section. Hope I get it.
Ok so I just wanted to get this started, I will post itinerary in a little while.

Ok so here r the pages to jump to so you don't need to read the entire pre trip part.

The traveling to Orlando.

well if u read my other thread you know I change my mind alot. Right now this is our itinerary.

Before I start I had a problem with photobucket today and lots of pics were gone. If u look at my thread and see red boxes that is why.

Ok so here we go. The kids I am taking live in West Virginia so I have to get there from NYC. Drive, well I was going to but then thought about the possible snow there might be. So I looked for flights. To expensive to fly directly in so I chose Jetblue into Columbus Ohio and then I will drive to WV. So booked the air and car. :yay:
Now 2 weeks later I get an email. Jetblue has canceled my flight cause it is no longer flying into Columbus. It says I can get a refund or they will book me on Delta. I think it over and decide I will take the Delta flight. Ok problem resolved.
Now we come to last week and I decide that I do not want to fly into Columbus. I look and see that Delta flies into the area I need in WV so I call. I have to talk to someone in a special department because of the ticketing was originally from Jetblue. So for $200 more I can fly directly. I did it. It is just easier.

Now the flight to Orlando we are flying on Southwest from Louisville Kentucky. It is a straight drive there so it should be easy to get to.

Ok that is all for now.

Coming up, the resort, the adr's and more.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ok so on January 26th we are attending our first Pirate & Princess party.

I got Tiny a cinderella wedding dress for her to wear if she wants to.

Also, at 3:30 that day the girls have an appointment for the Bippity Boppity Boutique.

Hopefully it will be a fun day.

So that is all that is planned so far. I have enough memory card for 5000+ pics.

It was deliciously gluttonous . Are you going to have the shirts made like the Mickey or get the Disney Studios shirts (the one where they look drawn/sketched)?

I am seriously considering it, my friends want to go in January, but early, but I'm gonna see if I can persuade them for around this time. We'll see.

Let me know if u do go maybe we will see each other in the parks.

Ok first did anyone watch the Shrek special today on ABC which is Disney). I thought it was the funniest thing. I could not stop laughing.

Ok now updates.

I did change Raglan Rd to PH. There mother said they would enjoy PH more so I did it.

Also I booked a new flight. We now fly out of Charleston WV instead of Louisville. It was $9 more than the other flights and saves me 6 - 7 hours of driving. Now Southwest does not refund so I have a credit to travel anywhere they go. We shall see. Maybe LA so I can see the new part of Disneyland.

I will gladly stay at POR on Saturday then SS Sunday - Thursday then back to POR. I said I would never do it but I would love to see that resort.

I think the airline being paid and the thought of free dining helped a little but that is fine. He wants 7 days there which shocked me. When I get back from the January trip I will start planning the next one. Deluxe next time. I am thinking Beach Club or Boardwalk. We will see, he does have a say as to where we stay I guess. I don't know if I like them better but i want to try them cause I stayed in mansions already. Also the trundle bed for Jake, otherwise he will be on the floor unless they have cots.
I never even walked over to AB before so it will be new. I will probably get the mansions as it is MLK weekend when we arrive.

I never even walked over to AB before so it will be new. I will probably get the mansions as it is MLK weekend when we arrive.

If you are a party of 5 and all 5 of you are on the reservation then they will HAVE to give you a room with a trundle bed. If there are 4 of you than why can't you all share the beds?

Thanks. We were just discussing which resort to stay at. He wants POR again I said no it will be my third time in a year so I said deluxe and we agreed on if we can get a discount. Even without it, the Wilderness lodge is only $400 more than moderates so I think that sounds good.

Ok so I was going to not tell the kids until that morning what the plans were each day. Now I am thinking i should print up folders and put in it the restaurants and parks we will be visiting and let them read them on take off of the plane. Tiny I hear is freaking out about the plane ride. Might be a nice distraction.

Which should I do?

I think the folders are a great idea! You could decorate them with stickers and/or bring extra stickers for them to decorate. Could provide the handy distraction you're looking for.:thumbsup2

I think it is a good idea to keep them distracted on the plane. You can have them ready if you need them or the pure excitement might be enough!

I gave my DS who is 11 an excel spread sheet showing what park and where our reservations were each day and he looked at it on the plane and used it in the room a number of times to see where we were going.

My kids are younger but if I eat fast food, I usually order a kids meal for myself and then keep the toy/prize. I have a little collection of them for the plane and if they get lost who cares? :confused3

The other thing that works is the "magic" pen books. They have invisible writing on the page and the "magic" pen makes stuff appear. Search a words and mad libs are fun for the older ones.

When you come home they will be ready to fly again and you might just need snacks or they could sleep from being wiped out!:woohoo:

I also think the folders are a great idea for the plane ride. Hopefully they will be distracted enough and getting really excited for the trip ahead.

Maybe each morning you can give them a little trinket or something that goes along with the plans for the day.

Blueyed Girl - "I think the folders are a great idea! You could decorate them with stickers and/or bring extra stickers for them to decorate. Could provide the handy distraction you're looking for."
I will probably do it. I just want something to distract them. Jake is 13 so he should be fine and Sissy should be fine but Tiny has been freaking.

Thumpersmom - "I think it is a good idea to keep them distracted on the plane. You can have them ready if you need them or the pure excitement might be enough!

I might take them to the book store on that Friday and let get a book for the plane. I hope for sleep.

I am just looking to distract them for the plane. Each morning they will distracted by the excitement of going to the parks. I hope. No more money will be spent and will explain later why.

DisneyJo - "I told my girls ( 9 & 11) what park, which restaurant etc but I kept a few little surprises like BBB back from them

I think I may keep BBB and the P&PP a surprise. the rest they can know about. 9 hours  this is 1 1/2 hr to Atlanta then another 1and 20 minutes. that should be enough I hope. :lmao:

Tat2ddisneymom - I have u figured out now. Next time we go is Labor Day weekend. :scared1: I tried to get him to change this but he will not. Hopefully it will not be too bad. Thanks, I think the folders will help.

SingingMom - "I vote for the folders, too. I don't remember their ages (sorry) but there may be some anxiety just being away from their mom... anything to give them a sense of "control" is a good idea..."
13,11,9. I think they will fine away from there mother but you never know. Tiny might have that problem.

crgfsu1 - "I like the folder idea! How creative! I get antsy flying, they might too."
Thanks. Not really it will be very simple with just the info in it. Nothing fancy. I hate flying but I think I am getting better. We flew to Biff's nephews wedding in Texas 2 years ago and the entire way I kept hitting Biff's knee. If the plane dropped he got hit harder. :rotfl2: I don't do that anymore.

Now the reason no more money being spent. Like I said "P" is getting a divorce and it looks like she cannot pay me for the trip. Oh well. My Uncle said he will give me some but they don't have much. It is fine though because at least the kids get to see WDW when they normally would not. Just makes things a little tight for me.

ROME(AP) Your honor, I thought I saw a pussycat! Tweety may finally air his signature complaint in front of a judge, after an Italian court ordered the animated canary along with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and his girlfriend Daisy to take the witness stand in a counterfeiting case.

In what lawyers believe was a clerical error worthy of a Looney Tunes cartoon, a court in Naples sent a summons to the characters ordering them to appear Friday in a trial in the southern Italian city, officials said.

The court summons cites "*****, Paperino, Paperina, Topolino" _ the Italian names for the characters _ as damaged parties in the criminal trial of a Chinese man accused of counterfeiting products of Disney and Warner Bros.

Instead of naming only the companies and their legal representatives, clerks also wrote in the witness list the names of the cartoons that decorated the toys and gadgets the man had reproduced, said Fiorenza Sorotto, vice president of Disney Company Italia.

"Unfortunately they cannot show up, as they are residents of Disneyland," Sorotto joked in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It certainly pleased us that the characters were considered real, because that's what we try to do."

The Naples court will have to rewrite the summons, though this will probably delay the trial, said Disney lawyer Cristina Ravelli.

"Let's hope the characters will not be prosecuted for failing to appear," Ravelli quipped.

Calls seeking comment from Warner Bros. in Milan were not immediately returned. Phones at the Naples court were not answered on Tuesday afternoon.

So that is all that is planned so far. I have enough memory card for 5000+ pics.
I think you should get another memory card, I found a bunch that are really cheap these last few weeks, 1 GB card for about 20 bucks

Now Southwest does not refund so I have a credit to travel anywhere they go. We shall see. Maybe LA so I can see the new part of Disneyland.
Go with LA, love the idea of going to disneyland.

When DW and I got to hawaii for her parents time share, i told her that we are going to go to LA for a few days lay over, then go on to hawaii from there

have to pay to fly there anyway, might as well stop for a few days and play at Disneyland

Her response was that she felt it would be cheating on WDW if she did that
:rotfl:

Did they really delete your last report? or did it just get moved to the completed report section scott?

It is a site that you can take daily surverys and stuff, and you get credits for taking them, and then the credits can be cashed in for disney gift cards just to name one of the many things that you can redem them for. I have been on for about 2 months and already have 50 dollars in gift cards for disney.
All I do is the daily surveys and have that much already.

Greetings and Salutations Scott! Tat's TR lead me to you :D Our bunch is traveling in January also, but sadly we leave on the day y'all get there :(

It is very cool what you are doing for your nephs/nieces ...and a great excuse to go to 'The World' Looks like some great ADRs and some very special stuff like BBB for them!

As far as things to distract Tiny on the plane, have you checked out the "printable activities" thread? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=226819 We have a 5hr flight for our main leg and this stuff will be a lifesaver for our girls ;)

The splash mountain pic was hilarious ...I once had one taken of me like that, couldn't tell if I was constipated or about to loose my lunch! Since then I always plaster a kind of manic smile on my face no matter where my mind is - lol

Cool shirt and congrats on the "A" :thumbsup2 Have a good one and good luck with your continued planning :cool1:

They r actually 2nd cousins but close enough. :) I actually have a niece who is in the WORLD right now. they all come back on Wednesday and I am dying to hear about it.
BBB should be fun for them. I hope.
I picked up for Tiny the Birnbaum WDW for kids and for the other 2 I got them the adult book.
SM will be closed while we are there, so upset but many other things to do. All I did was laugh on there Biff just kept saying he wanted off. I would have been better off with a 5 yr old. Thanks I think the shirt should make me stick out. Not sure which park to where it in yet. Thanks for the "A", it is interesting after 15+ years out of school but I think I did well in that class, thank heavens.
Good luck with your planning and have a great trip. I will keep an eye for your updates on your pre tr.

Hey Scott. I think I'm caught up but may need some help here.

Ok, first, did you get the SSR nights? That's a great price and a great resort. If you get a request, choose the Congress Park area. You'll have great views of PI.

Ok, second item, I think the kids will like PH better than Raglan but I have to say that Raglan is much better for adults. If you get the chance, stop in there for the nightly entertainment and some fish and chips. We saw a U2 cover band that was incredible one night. One of the best times I've ever had at WDW.

Third, how can you afford this without getting help from the parents?

If I'm missing anything, please fill me in. I only read your posts and may have missed a couple.

No. SSR was not in my cards unfortunately. I personally think the TA at AAA just could not be bothered. Also it was room only.

I did cancel O'Hanas and booked Kona more for me than them. I think I will like Kona more so that is where we are going. PH is definitely for them but I really have no problem with it. The dinner is 3 hours earlier which is good cause that morning we have to get up at 5 to make our plane. I will try to get there one night but we shall see what happens.
Third, how can you afford this without getting help from the parents? credit cards. They are divorcing so I have no idea if I will get money, if I do that is great but I am prepared not to also.
If I'm missing anything, please fill me in. I only read your posts and may have missed a couple.

Better go to AllEars and see if the menu fits first.

I have checked all menus and printed them for the kids to pick stuff before hand. I ate at Mama Melrose in July and did not like it but basically it is for the package. I thought the food there was really bland but will have the chicken parm again. probably.

Don't be discouraged about crowds based on those two ADR's not being available so close to your travel dates. The Fantasmic package is always popular so no surprise there that it would be sold out and Yak and Yeti is new so everybody wants to try it out. I am sure that it is not a sign of monumental crowds. ;)

Did anyone else see this Holiday special on Travel channel. I loved it. Now I really want to go for the holiday's.
The castle looks so nice. The suite also looked really nice.

I watched it last night when it was on at midnight. I really want to go at Christmastime. The new lights on the castle are so purty!

Oh, and I recommend the pot roast at 50s PTC, and definitely try the chicken crunch at PH.:thumbsup2

Scott,

I just finished reading your report. We'll be there the same time! It looks like our paths will probably only cross (possibly) @ the Pirate and Princess party.

Love the Pot Roast at 50s..and the smores..can't forget about the smores. Hopefully you have a better server than we did.

WCC - Oh wow, did we have a riot there! It was DD9s birthday and our waiter felt I was high maintenance. I had to ride around on a wooden pony singing happy birthday at the top of my lungs. And that was only the beginning! (Thankfully I forgot both camera and video camera that night!) You guys will have a blast

The folders, I think I'm going to have to steal that idea. I really think my girls would like something like that. Their own "binders"! :rotfl:

Looking forward to more!

Epcot, My kids love it and tried to get me to schedule 2 full days there. If it weren't for Everest, we wouldn't be going to AK at all...

Thank you for joining in. well if u see me at the party stop and say hello. I am looking forward to Primetime so much. WCC not so much. I am so afraid they will make me do something. I am hoping for a boring waiter.
I started the folders but then Birnbaum's books were referred to me so I actually bought the kids book for Tiny and the other 2 got the adult ones. I will put them in the messenger bags and they can carry anything they want onto the plane and in the parks. They can also pick out there must do's.
I love AK. I enjoy the safari and everest. I think it is so pretty the park and I still so much I have not seen there.
Thanks again for reading.

Hi all,
Ok well I said I was going to start a pre tr and here it is. Nothing exciting just my basic info for the upcoming trip.

Let me first do the back story (the readers of my other thread know this but it may get more in depth).
I was at WDW in July of this year and loved it. I went with 7 others and it was a blast.
See here I am.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g134/scottny/071307037.jpg
so anyway I had the most wonderful trip but it was way too short.
Ok so I just wanted to get this started, I will post itinerary in a little while.

that's sooooo exciting that you are getting to take your cousins to Disney! Hooray for a 9 day trip. That's how long we were there in Sept. It seemed perfect to get everything fit in that we wanted to do and not feel bombarded.
You will have a great time I'm sure!

Btw, I have the same shirt Sissy is wearing in that picture. In fact, I'm wearing it right now! :lmao: (seriously, I am!)

Anyways, trying to get caught up.

Hey Carla! :yay:

I just watched Shrek again. I think it is funny. I really enjoyed Samantha's special.

Cool, we still haven't seen the Shrek one, got too busy again last night :P I set Samantha's special to record along with another "behind the scenes" WDW special that is on at either 5 or 6pm the same night. Not sure if I've seen that one or not but it is worth recording just in case ;)

The updated itenerary looks really good and I think you've made a good choice with doing some earlier days and some laters starts :thumbsup2

Just one thing to possibly "consider".... do you think the kids will enjoy "Rose & Crown"? We went for dinner in June on our first night, because DD loves "real" fish & chips and "anything London or Paris". (Diva at 14  ) I honestly did not find too many choices on the menu that appealed to me. DH had lamb shank and I had chicken. It was "ok". We did have a WONDERFUL table on the terrace, however. :)

I've never tried it. Do they have Shepherd's pie there?

I made Shepherd's pie last week (got recipe online) and someone made a comment about the recipe saying they changed it and made it into an authentic Irish Shepherd's Pie. Well, I always thought it was English. So that night, my 6 year old asked why it is called Shepherd's pie. I told him because way back when in Ireland, there were Shepherd's and this is what they liked to eat.:rotfl2: Then DH laughs and pulls the computer out to find out the real scoop and to prove me wrong. It was funny.

No, they didn't have Shepherd's Pie, and that's what I wanted to try! At least, they didn't offer it on the dinner menu. Maybe they have it on the lunch menu? :confused3
