On my new wireless laptop in Big Murgie's Den. A few minutes ago they put up the Christmas tree in here. We haven't seen Shadow yet-last year she was outside with B'leu on Sunday to greet people checking in. Big Murgie's Den was closed unti l this morning. I think they had to redo the floor due to a plumbing problem. They're still having the homemade cranberry cookies and cider every afternoon. The weather has been perfect, sunny and in the high60s/low 70s every day. Coincidentally we have the same one bedroom as last year, 1137. Saturday night, for the first time, we ate at Scott's Fish Market. I had their grilled salmon with sweet potato crispies and a maple sauce. It was delicious! Any questions, I'll try to answer.

Since its not really beach weather, and if one doesn't golf, what else is there to do there or nearby? :goodvibes

We booked on member's cash at 11 months, then tried for points at 7 months. We've never gotten all nights in a 1 BR on points at 7 months.
This afternoon we went to Sea Pines and ate at Salty Dog. Surprisingly, it was very crowded and we waited about 45 minutes at 1:30.DH had a Dafuskie crab cake sandwich which he said was quite a bit smaller than last year. I had fish and chips, which was very good. Afterwards we had ice cream at the nearby stand, pumpkin. Since we ate such a late lunch, I don't think we'll have super tonight. We'll just save our appetite for tomorrow's breakfast at Signe's.

Thanks for the reply. What a good idea to book it cash first. I'm contemplating trying to convince my DH to try HH for Thanksgiving next year.

The weather has been perfect-no clouds, temps generally in the low 70s. I've been thinking about the question about what there is to do off season, if you don't have kids. I hate saying this, and someone with children please tell me I'm wrong, but I don't think we'd be coming at this time of yearif our kiids were young. But the fact is that DH does golf (as much as I let him), and I love to just sit outside reading a book. We also enjoy walking on the beach and bird watching, just doing alot of nature watching.

I forgot to add that thefood at Signe's is as delicious as usual-blueberry stuffed french toast this time. And we picked up our Thanksgiving meal from them, which is sitting in the refrigerator, just daring me to resist until Thursday. I can tell it's going to be too tempting. Tomorrow DHplays golf at Port Royal, and I'm taking the Pinckney Island tour the resort is offering.

I'll ask him when he wakes up tomorrow. This fresh air (and early golf today) has him tired very early. I do know that he played at Oyster Reef and Port Royal, 2 courses, for less than if he'd played just the Marsh course at Sea Pines. I'm thinking that he paid about $55-$70 per round. I know that he was talking about how some courses offer shot gun starts on Thanksgiving for $60/round-get in your golf before turkey.

Its supposed to be getting cold here in Texas tomorrow, even down in Harlingen. Long slacks and jackets. 46 degrees and 30% chance of rain tomorrow night in Harlingen.

I hope you've got great Thanksgiving weather in HH :)

Hello from the Community House here at HHI. We ate breakfast at Signe's on Wednesday, but, we had our meal from Disney. We still have a turkey left!

It will be supper tonight!

I hate saying this, and someone with children please tell me I'm wrong, but I don't think we'd be coming at this time of yearif our kiids were young.I have three kids, ages 14, 11, and 8, and we are at HH for our second Thanksgiving (the last being in 2005). We arrived Wednesday, and will drive home tomorrow, so it is a fairly short trip, but we're having a great time. I'm posting this right now using the wireless out by the pool...Amazingly, my kids are in the pool even though the air temperature is just above 50 degrees. They are having a great time, but will not enjoy the walk back to our villa! :cold:

This is the second time we've been to the pool (it was much warmer yesterday), plus we've spent a little time at the beach. Mostly we've just relaxed, played games, and enjoyed the beautiful grounds of the resort. I would like to try the kayak tour, but we just didn't get around to it this time. There have been a number of fun-sounding activities, such as story-telling at the campfire last night, and a shirt-making activity this morning, but we haven't tried many of those either. Maybe next time (and there will be a next time)!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Stop it :sad2: 46 is going to be our high tomorrow. Though we're still lucky at this time of year.

Forgive my forwardness, but at this time of year in HHI the fun is in the room. :) Ok, I'm sure there is other things to do too...

Whew! I'm so glad to hear I was wrong! I just love HHI, and I really didn't want to discourage anyone from going there. I remember now that you mention it that there were a lot of kids at the pool. Where were you Wednesday nite? We had excellent shrimp, chicken, and lots of yummy etcs at the Beach House-a wonderful time!

Hello Fellow HHI Thanksgiving folks!
We just got back last night from a week at the resort and had a great time again ( second year in a row). We ate at Signes twice. Thanks to all for the tip about eating this place. It was great! Conan I saw you at the football game (your team stomped us)and at Signes on Saturday. The weather was beautiful in the mid to high 70's from Monday to Thursday. Our kids did the pool, the ocean(saw dolphins up close), kayaking, biking, and fishing. We were a group of 5 families so there were lots of cousins to play with. The sad thing now is we have no DVC trips planned:sad1: . We've been to Vero and loved it there but we like the beach much better at HH. Anyway it's 25 degrees here and we are in shock but Xmas is coming so HO-HO-HO and Happy Holidays!
