Just wondering- while we wait for our guide to come back to work( he sounds sick)- what's your favorite:love: thing about staying at AKV?

That is a definate dittio for us. It is just so wonderful to sit out on the balcony with a cold drink watching the animals do their thing. When we were there a few weeks ago, we watched a waterbuck chase a zebra who was chasing a giraffe, who was chasing an african crowned crane! It went on for about 5 minutes. Now you won't see that any where else!!

I love the feeling that you may be in Africa especially listening to the music by the pool and watching the animals.

The animals! Love that savanna view. Also love Jikos- my favorite restaurant anywhere.

How cool, to feel like you are in Africa- that's a VERY wonderful thing! I have heard the food is great in both the restaurants-I have friends who just stayed and said this was their favorite food, they LOVED LOVED LOVED it! We were just at WDW,too, and unfortunately I had to cancel Boma- ironically, it was the 1st ressie I made because I wanted to try it so badly! We were just running into a situation where we were missing too much time in the parks because of dinners outside of them or too far away from them at night. Well, we're going to purchase there, so I will getting PLENTY of chances in the future, right?:cool1:

I haven't stayed on the villas side yet, but we LOVED our stays at the AKL. The savanna views are really amazing--it's just incredible to see animals right outside your balcony. I also love the look of the lobby and the delicious smells that float up to it from Boma and Jiko. Speaking of Boma, I think it's one of WDW's best restaurants. I like the exotic feel of AKL. I'm thrilled to own at AKV now and am looking forward to my first trip home in March of 2008. :)

1. The savannah with the animals
2. The theme/decor (although I still think WL has the best theme/decor)

Stayed at AKL three years ago, in a deluxe pool view, and loved the pool and Bomas. Next year is our first trip home to AKV and we are really looking forward to it, this time we will also have a savanna view so seeing the animals off the balcony will be new :)

Mike,
Interesting on your point number 2. I almost put that as well. AKL, WL and the Grand Californian are the three best themed resorts I can think of. The imagineers just did a superb job on those resorts! And all three have or will have DVC!

And they all have the same architect. I can't think of his name. He is also the architect on the Hawaii DVC resort.

The entire theme/atmosphere is great....obviously the savannas and animals are fantastic! I have to say one of the reasons we did an add-on was that most 1BRs sleep five (as we are a family of 5) and the 1BRs in Kidani will have 2 bathrooms. Love the whole value villa concept (save points) and concierge villa availability (splurge!) as well!

Staying Club level has all sorts of perks.
Coffee/tea, bagels and other light fare in the morning.
Snacks during the day.
Afternoon tea
Appetizers and beverages, including beer and wine in the evening.

Club Level!! That's why we purchased AKV. We have stayed club level before and the fact AKV offers it sold us on DVC.

Another FABULOUS reason to purchase at AKL- I didn't realize this was the only DVC property offering the Club level- I am SOOOO HAPPY we will be able to enjoy it when we go!!!! party: Plus, the club level includes the extra safaris- is that right?

I hate to put a damper on club level, and I'm not really, just a damper on the availability of club level.
With only 5 2-br lock-offs available for club level, it will be VERY hard to book it once the membership at AKV increases.

Club Level includes the ability to purchase the Sunrise Safari. It's not included in the cost of your reservation, and it's an additional $55 per adult and $27.50 per child. It's really a great experience though, and well worth the cost, IMHO.
The Sunset (or Wanyama) Safari *might* now be available to all AKL/AKV guests, but I'm not positive. I could've sworn reading something about them opening up the Sunset Safari to all AKL/AKV guests, but I could be wrong since I can't find anything about that.

It is available to other AKL/AKV guests but at about $50 per head more than if your are staying club level.

My favorite part is walking into that lobby. The beauty of the architecture, the smells, music, and the window overlooking the savannah. You feel like you are walking into a different place when you walk into that lobby. It really sets the tone for the whole stay.

:cool1: My favorite thing is having a Savannah View and watching the animals from your balcony. I would not book a club level because they don't all have Savannah Views. Having a Savannah View is more important than club level.:thumbsup2
