Hey Colleen! How are you? The boys will definitely be at marathon weekend! :goodvibes They will be doing the kids' races on Friday. We actually signed Timmy up for the diaper dash - I just hope he is crawling by then!!! I've been terrible about keeping up with the weekly thread. Two little ones are definitely harder to manage than just one!!! So what's new with you? Will your family be with you this year? How are you feeling? I saw you couldn't do MCM.
Well, I hear a little voice calling... Can't wait to see you in January! :thumbsup2

I didn't see anything that suggests its online. I'll check my program tonight and if it does say something I'll let you know.
I'm not sure what I was expecting with the program, btw, but it seems a little "light." Maybe it's because I get so much of my information on the Goofy from the DIS!

Received mine in Connecticut yesterday. Based on my number, it doesn't look like I'll get the benefit of an extra 20 minutes ahead of the sweepers by starting in corrall B for the half (assuming the start is the same as last year). Guess that will teach me to be honest in my time estimates. ;)
One thing I did notice is that this year's book states the 16 minute per mile pacing requirement and provides that you can be swept anywhere on the course. It does not list specific points and estimated pacing times to reach them like the 2007 booklet did (which I previously looked at on the internet).

They changed that online a few weeks back too. I know because I printed the sweep points while at work and it's on my board. Then Susan was surfing WWoS and found that they had removed it and now had the 'swept anywhere' rule. I'm not carrying for that. It should still work out pretty much the same but still I liked the chart and the wording.
Well I guess maybe in regards to once you pass the old last point which was 20.5 for the full (sorry don't have the Half on my board) they probably worried we'd all slow to a 30 minute mile and drag the day on LOL Since 2005 and having read some complaints elsewhere over the final sweep by the MK I have always pushed and not felt safe until I was IN the park. For the Half I'd breath a bit easier once I made it to Main Street then I would push till I was IN Epcot. Same will apply for me in the 2008 Full. I won't feel safe until I'm IN Epcot closing in on the finishline.
Oh and as of Tuesday nothin' in MI. I won't have a chance to post tonight as we're flying in the 4-wheel plane to Columbus, OH for the Bingham 4 Miler Flying Feather Wooohoo!!! My leg hurts but I'll limp the entire 4 miles for the Penguin medal ;) LOL Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

Even in the 2007 Event Guide and Schedule that they gave as part of the race packet from the Expo states that anyone who doesn't maintain a 16 min pace will be picked up. They list the pace points as an example of where you will for sure get picked up if you don't meet the pace.
In the half the points were(are) mile 3.5(WDW Speedway),6.3(MK Security Gate), 8.1(MK Paring Lot-Daisy), and 10.2(World Drive Ramp to EPCOT). These are easy points where they will have the busses sitting and waiting. It is hard for them to pickup up runners in other places. They only other one might be the entrance to EPCOT.

Unless I'm misinformed, which may be the case, I belive you will get a few extra minutes vs. the sweeps in the half.
Aren't there more than 2 corrals per wave, plus what wave are you in? With you in B, there must be at least one corral behind you, and those corrals will be filled with lots of people. The start for the half on the new course is narrow, wicked narrow, so it will take a long time for all those people to cross the start, and the 16 minute per mile clock will begin at that time. If you can get near the start of the B corral you will cross the start many minutes before the sweeper clock begins, and you'll be on your way.
If I have this wrong, I apologize, but I recall more than 2 corrals for the waves of the half marathon start.
By the way, no packets in the mailboxes in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Apparently the Disney folks or the postal service cannot find us.

Craig, I think Bill got put into Wace C based on his estimate and not Wave B like he hoped which would give him an extra 20 minutes. Last year they didn't seperate the "B". All B-1, B-2, and B-3 all started together. No segregation. This might change this year as the refine the start process. Much better than the mass in 06.
He will need to move to the front to save him another 5-10 mins.
BTW, No luck out here on the West Coast:(
Ok! I am new to this marathon thing. Does everyone get one of these packets early. Or will I be one of the lucky ones possibly that have to wait???Oh, Please no I have been training for 2.5 years for the Goofy. Please someone help ease my mind.

Everyone should have them by the end of next week. It has taken mine a coupls of weeks to get out west the last 2 years for the Goofy. They are sent bulk mail around the holiday mail means Pony Express. If you don't get it after the 1st week of Dec, I would contact EMMI and they will send another. I had to do this last year.

**Craig** Robert's post is accurate. My number is in the over 30,000 range. Thus, if my understanding is correct and they use 3 waves for the half like last year, I will be in wave C. Last year, wave A started at 6:00AM, wave B at 6:10AM and wave C at 6:30AM.

Hi Kim:
Visit this webpage of mine that Disney used to set the corrals and waves at http://www.disneyrunning.com/07fullchutes.html . They may change it a little by adding another corral for the marathon but what I have seen from runners #'s so far, it looks like it will be the same. No guarantees.

hi everyone
like a lot of people, i haven't reeived my program yet. i've been reading this thread, and had a question, which i hope hadn't already been asked.
according to ultramickeymouse's web page and posts, it shows all the read and blue runners merging onto the start line. according to the latest marathon map, there's two separate start points (red and blue), these two groups merge three miles into the race (after looping around epcot).
is this what ultramickeymouse is implying in his maps, but with a greatly reduced scale? or am i just not getting it?
thanks

I wonder if they ran out of numbers and that is why it is taking so long? Maybe mine will have Mickey Mouse on it. :rotfl: Just kidding trying to keep a positive attitude while I wait.:rolleyes1

Mine arrived in Michigan too :)
ROBERT!!!!!! Say it's not so!!!!! I had hoped the corrals for the Full would be the same. All I could find was my 2006 little booklet and it puts me in Corral G which was RED!!!! I was all set to run by Mile 2 and wave to the gang at RED's Water station. (Kristi the Goo Goo Queen herself IS in charge of that table right? LOL) Oh well guess Disney will hold that final surprise for me still till the end as usual  Oh and your secret is safe with us ;)

I have been doing that for the last week without any luck. It must still be testing as not listed on Disney's site yet. They posted the Pasta Dinner yesterday and probably will add this later today.

Mine usually takes 2-3 weeks to arrive the last 2 Goofy's. Don't sweat it. If you don't receive it in a couple of weeks, PM me and I will give you a god email address and they will resend it. I had to do that for the 07 Goofy.
thanks Robert. I am just a worry wort. Two and a half years training for the Goofy I don't want anything to go wrong.

WELL! Unbelievable!! My daughter's packet came today but mine didn't!!! They must be putting some extra special stuff in mine, that's all I can think of! We're doing the 1/2 and she is Race# 33952. That's what the label says anyway. I didn't open it...she isn't home. Amazing restraint, Mom.

Take that back!! I just got mine today!! I got back from my 20 miler and DH was reading the mail, so I asked him what we had gotten. He told me a couple of bills and junk. I, of course, got my grumpy look, and walked off mad that I still hadn't gotten it. And he started laughing at me and threw it to me. He's such a pain.... but I GOT IT!!!

Postman just left and no packets for any of us. Does it take longer if you book through a travel agent?
Jean, I apologize if this has already been answered....yes it takes longer when you register through a travel agent. Last year John registered through Anthony Travel. They told him when he inquired, that he would not be receiving his packet at the same time as everyone that registered through Disney. I believe he got it 2-3 weeks after I got mine.
Nothing here in Central Jersey yet.

I have a question....my mail came today and my DH got his "packet". The only problem is that the white sheet that you have to bring with you had writing all over it (it appears that maybe it was delivered to the wrong address (although addressed correctly) and someone wrote all over it) and the program. Is my DH missing any info? It was weird that the program made it to our house because there is no address on it. I don't get it but something strange happened to it on the way to our house.
My question is....are these the only two pieces of info that he should have received for the Goofy? Is he missing anything? TIA

The only thing you recieve is the program and the waiver for any of the races. The Goofy runners just have both the 1/2 & Full bib numbers on the waiver.

Nope, Thanks Karen, you were the only person to answer. We still don't have ours, but knowing that the agency sends them out later makes me feel alot better. If nothing comes by mid-week I will give Marathon Tours and Travel a call. I know I'm going to be in the very last Corral with all the slow-pokes, but it will be nice to get my official #.

Don't panic if you don't have it yet. Dh finally got his yesterday. Our registrations were turned in together, we have back to back numbers, but his came about a week after mine.
If you go to the marathon website, you can confirm your registration and also see an online version of teh prgram. Hope everyone has theirs soon! :wizard:

If your packets do not come, don't panic. After you confirm your registration through their site, just make sure you come to the packet pick up with your photo id. There will be spare waiver forms there and you can sign one then be good to go.
