I took thousands of photos, kept hundreds (maybe more). Tried to find highlights and still came up with too many, so I'm posting them small. If you want larger or have any particular requests (mainly areas of the ship moreso than crew), let me know. Also, due to technical difficultie, I lost many photos featuring parasailing, pirate mickey and the golden mickeys. hopefully i'll be able to retrieve them. until then...

How did you get pics at the terminal without people in them? Were you the first ones there? Also on the ship, there are shots without anyone, amazing.

What kind of camera do you use if you don't mind sharing that info.

Great pics!!:woohoo:

thanks all

How did you get pics at the terminal without people in them? Were you the first ones there? Also on the ship, there are shots without anyone, amazing.

that was the plan, but i think one other family beat me to the terminal. i stayed at an area hotel the night before, got to the terminal around 9:30 or so. took my bags through security, took photos, checked-in at around 9:50 and then took my bags back down and out so i could hand them to the porter, then went back in the terminal and just hung out until mickey and minnie showed up and then for boarding.

as for shots on the ship, i'm not sure when and where each of the ones above came from, but after i secured my palo brunch, i started touring the ship to take advantage of people still boarding and buffet'ing. i also got up extra early for many shots. i even went through the morning of disembarkation and went into wavebands, diversions and the cadillac lounge to get pics. also got some great people free shots of places like the restaurants and the oceaneers club during the galley and art of the theme (or whatever it is) tours.

What kind of camera do you use if you don't mind sharing that info.

i just upgraded to a canon eos 40d - my lenses range from 10-300mm prior to the crop factor (16-480 or something 35mm equivalent)

Boy, you had great weather.

the weather was amazing. i think the UV was a bit higher than anticipated for the bahamas but the only time i saw rain or anything like that was a couple of hours before hitting castaway cay, just around sunrise.

What beautiful pictures! Hope you had an amazing vacation!

I am guessing that that was a picture of your room? What category room did you have, if you don't mind me asking.

We have never been on a Disney Cruise or any cruise for that matter. I am planning a cruise for us in 2009 and was wondering what your room was like.

Thanks!

cat 7, navigator's veranda on deck 5. that is my room, but there's more to it behind me, like the closet and the split-bathroom. i just couldn't include it all because it would have cut off the bed area.

on the magic, the window is smaller and rounder, more like a porthole. the wonder's are larger and wider. the deal with the navigator's veranda is the would-be 'balcony area' is covered (but still separated from the main portion of the cabin). if i was traveling as a couple, i probably would have opted for a balcony, but it was really nice for what it was, especially when i left it open while i was in the room.

the room size wasn't a bother at all, at least not for 1 person. i have to admit i wasn't crazy about the split bathroom. not only does it make each room smaller, but i would sometimes forget which room i was trying to get into :)

I think was at Palo when you took that picture. I had to look to see if I was in it. :rotfl: Nope, we were more to the right. Were you with the fun group in the private room? if so, you kept us entertained. ;)

i'd have to think not since i'm not even sure what the private room was. i was also by myself.

i dined at palo during the champagne brunch, from around 11:30 or so.

Great pictures Brad!!! crap, a 40D??? I've been drooling over that lately....think the sudden demise of my walk around lens last weekend justifies a full upgrade of my 18 month old Rebel XT???!!!:rolleyes1

I especially liked the character pictures - great color, very sharp!

Someone asked about an empty ship. I always go up on deck right at the end of Castaway Cay day (when everyone is coming back and changing) to snap pictures; the upper decks are always empty then!:thumbsup2

my days were pretty full and booked. a lot of the pics i took were during embarking. i was at the terminal at 9:30 and had group 2 and after i checked in for the pin event and made my polo reservation, i did what i could all around the ship to get photos. some were taken during tours, some were taken in the wee hours of the morning.

incidentally, not sure if i mentioned it, but i was able to recover my missing photos. should have a few more to add tomorrow including the shot of the wonder i took while parasailing.

On a 3-night it should be Herc, Golden Mickeys, and Disney Dreams in that order. (Until early 2008, when Herc will be replaced by Toy Story.)

bradk

yes, it was 4 day, sorry.

although Michael Harrison performed several shows during the cruise. the first night was the one in the Walt Disney theatre, the other performances were an adults only show in WaveBands which I also saw as well as another family show and a magic workshop, although that was on the day at sea

Thanks for posting all of the pictures! They're terrific!

So... If we're really type-A personalities, we should eschew the prevailing advice not to bother showing up at the port before 10 because you absolutely cannot get in before then, anyway? Because that's what this A is hearing. :) *note to self: set alarm one hour earlier...*

you can get in before 10, but you can't leave any bags with the porters outside before 10 and you can't check in before 10 (or whatever time they decide to start).

so if you have a lot of bags you don't want to deal with all day, i'd probably show up as close to 9:45 or so and wait for the porters outside.

laura_hattaway
11-25-2007, 11:37 AM
Cool. I think we'll leave the hotel at 9:30 and see what happens. I could spend 30 minutes outside taking pictures. Who knows but this will be my one chance to take a cruise; must have the photographic memories. :)

bradk
11-25-2007, 08:44 PM
to clarify, you should be able to enter the terminal (and security) if you wish, but the porters won't be available until 10, so as long as someone is there to give them the luggage at 10, you'll be fine.

uh.... uncomfortable :) what would happen is every now and then i'd hear what i would describe as a low pitched creak and i'd have to be afraid. i stopped trying to aim the camera at the peak. it was a pretty intense experience. except for the constant fear of plummeting to my death, it was a pretty calming experience. plus the guy told me to keep away from the clips (which held the parachute to my harness) and then i instinctively wanted to press them.

thanks for the support
