Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.

Sunday 14th October 2007

Had a sleepless night not just from an urgency to ‘get going’ but from being in a strange bed, it always takes me a couple of nights to settle in! Up and in the bath for 5.45am and splashed around enough to disturb the others! The time eventually came to catch the bus to the Animal Kingdom for our 8am ADR for Donalds Breakfastosaurus.

We arrived at the park for 7.40am and queued up with a few other families until we were allowed in, we took our time in getting to the restaurant admiring the lovely early morning sun filtering through the trees until eventually we came to a sight I’ve frequently seen ‘The Tree of Life’. We were guided to the right until we found the restaurant and were escorted in where Timosaurus, our waiter, introduced himself. Soon the characters were arriving.

We sang and clapped Happy Birthday to a couple of customers and when Tim saw our anniversary badges he asked how long we had been married “twenty five years” we proudly said, he said “oh I’m so sorry!”. He made us stand up and shouted out our names and how long we had been married and everybody applauded.

We loved the choice of food and I made a point of trying biscuits and gravy (which I loved). Cost $94.57 used 4 table service credits. After eating we made our way out but it was still only 8.55am and the rope was barring our way so we sat down till it was dropped and were escorted through the park, we followed who was leading (where to?) and ended up at Expedition Everest (we wanted to go there anyway to get Fastpasses for later) where we were lead on the Fastpass entrance as the public were rushing to the standby line. We got to ride the first train of the day, we all loved it except John who discovered that it wasn’t a good idea to ride just after breakfast.

View from a little way up Everest.

Just to prove I did it!

We then found our first photo pass photographer and made use of him!

Went to Kali River Rapids to get a Fastpass and made our way to Kilimanjaro Safari.

After disembarking (that’s Ashley’s new word he learnt on holiday) the safari we came across this big fella.

It was proving to be a very hot day, we bought ourselves a water mister with a battery operated fan on it which was lovely but I was pleasantly surprised to see the huge fans in the foliage and misting stations, in all my reading of forums I’ve never seen these mentioned. We then went on the rapids where we got soothingly wet, I had a tee shirt on which didn’t dry out very fast so kept lovely and cool for a long time but the others had clothes on which dried really quickly and consequently felt the heat quickly.

Making our way through the park we came across these lovely people who nearly died laughing when John asked them if the tree was real! He wasn’t quite sure as we’d never seen anything like it before and in Disney you never know what’s real and what’s brilliantly imitated. They assured him it was real and one of the fruits had just fell off nearly piercing their heads!

We found a queue forming for the Nemo show so joined it! John sneaked a naughty picture of the show, I was sitting next to him and didn’t know he’d taken it.

Glen especially was flagging by now so we called it a day and on the way out of the park had this taken.

Back on a lovely air-con bus to the hotel which was also like a fridge.
This chap was waiting for us when we got back.

Called in the lounge for drinks and goodies and got changed for a dip in SAB. John took his waterproof camera down to get some photos of the kids swimming.

Couple of hours later we were on our way to Epcot as Ashley fancied a MacDonalds for tea. Guess who turned the wrong way over the bridge and we walked all around the world but came across a Macs where we got 3 lots of 9 nuggets with fries and drinks on the dining plan. I think it came to the ridiculous amount of about $15! I knew things were going to be cheaper than at home but this is just silly. We had a wonderful view of Illuminations standing right next to the fence with only a 10 minute wait. Made our way back to the Yacht Club admiring the view as we went.

A lovely first day, I was very impressed by the pic of you waiting for the AK bus, just as it was coming light. Gotta love those US prices, I am constantly amazed at how cheap things are :goodvibes
