Day 14 Friday 29th December 2006

Another very boring read today!! Weather forecast is bad for this afternoon so no beach trip, so we relaxed in the pool and Jacuzzi (and Steve played the 9 hole course AGAIN!!) There is no way he can say he didn’t get enough golf time this holiday!!

After lunch we went off to find the Pioneer Museum, it’s round the back of the Wal-Mart at the other end of the 192 to where the villa was. This was a little gem if you’re passing, we felt 100s miles away from commercial Orlando and passes a good hour plus looking around the “Little House on the Prairie” style Floridian Farmhouse from yesteryear (some lovely patchwork quilts), complete with General Stores/Post Office and schoolhouse. A few pics:

Oh to have a rocking chair and a veranda!!

Who would like to be a teacher back then?!!!!!

Now reader, do not despair, we now make our one and only Walmart visit this holiday…….we (well adult members of the family) are not great shoppers!! Lots of clothes and stationary for the girls and off we went to find the Congo Crazy Golf course that looked fun.

Unfortunately, the forecasted deluge arrived at that point, and did not look like a passing shower or storm but set in for the day, so we went back to Wal-Mart and bought 10 ponchos at $1 each, we had been tempting fate in parks by having no rainwear at all with us (our beloved AK ponchos gave up the ghost after two holidays).

We gave up and drove back to the Outback Steakhouse, and found a lot of people waiting. Fortunately the posted 45 minute wait was only 20 minutes and we were inside for our delicious meal of steaks, what else!! Gorgeous chunky chips too. The meal made up for a lack lustre day. Back to the villa and we didn’t pack for our move to the Dolphin in the morning and had a relaxing evening.

Tomorrow: Move to Dolphin and NYE in EPCOT a day early!!

Day 15 Sat 30th Dec Move to Dolphin and NYE in EPCOT a day early!! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1637376)

A shame the weather meant you couldn't play mini golf. The pioneer museum sounds great, something I had not heard of before, very cool to do something different.
