Good morning Red Team. Welcome to week 11. A new week is always a wonderful thing. Don't forget to weigh in today and report your weight to me, not matter how your week was. If you had a good week that is great and I am proud of you. If your week wasn't all you hoped it would be that's OK. Today starts a new week and another chance to do better. We are the ones who have the power to change our habits and make better health choices.

Thanks to those who have keep our thread alive while I was MIA. Guess where I was. Never mind, don't guess. I am back and will try to do a better job as team captain. My job is to be your cheerleader.

Red Team question of the day

No matter what the scale said to you today remember that you are great. You are here, part of the WISH Biggest Loser Challenge. You are a special part of the Red Team, the most special of all teams. You are here to develop healthy habits. You are here to commit to yourself. You are here to commit to better health, whatever that means to you.

So finally the question is - What did you do this week that you are proud of? Weight wise, job wise, life wise, what ever. Tell me something good.

Me first. OK it's late and I am drawing a blank. I could tell you plenty of stupid stuff I did, good stuff is harder for me to come up with. I threw away the old and moldy head of lettuce that I never ate in a salad. That's not really a good thing is it? Well my vegetable drawer does smell better but I can do better than that.

Tonight DH and I attended an empty nester Family Home Evening. My church encourages all families to gather together on Monday night. Turn off the TV, don't answer the phone, sit together and bond as a family. Teach a lesson, play a game, sing a hymn, tell stories, read scriptures, have a special dessert. Just spend some quality time together. This gets harder to do as kids grow up and leave home. DS that is engaged is never home and DH and I do not do Family Home Evening as we should.

One Monday a month an empty nest couple (or single person) hosts a family home evening. They just started last month and this is the first time we went. We are asked to bring a treat to share. I knew if I took a dessert I would have leftovers, bring them home with me, and then proceed to eat them all.

I took veggie bars. The crust is crescent rolls baked in a flat layer. On top goes a filling of cream cheese, mayo, and a packet of dry ranch salad dressing mix. Sprinkled on top is chopped veggies and shredded cheese. I used carrots, celery, broccoli, and cauliflower. They were the hit of the evening and thankfully not too many came home with me. I am proud that I made something a little bit healthy instead of a dessert to share.

So what's good with you Red Team? I hear we have some running going on. That is something good. Michelle is walking, that is good. Nancy is settling in at a new job after 16 years at her old one. Let's celebrate the good things today. Hopefully it will be on your scale, but if not that's OK. Evaluate why your scale said what it did to you today and make a plan to see a smaller number next week. Even if this week was not a loss for you there are still small victories to celebrate. Today we celebrate!!

Have a healthy day!

So finally the question is - What did you do this week that you are proud of? Weight wise, job wise, life wise, what ever. Tell me something good.

I bought an exercise bike! Its getting dark too early and I've been having a hard time getting out every night for my walks. Hopefully the exercise bike will jump start my stalled weight loss journey!

Got back into my diet yesterday after splurging over the weekend. No loss for me this week but that is okay.

No loss again for me this week.

I shudder to think what kind of shape I'd be in if I hadn't been 'paying attention' at least part of the time!

I'm proud that I rediscovered the gym in the basement at work! :thumbsup2 No excuses now, not to mosey down there at the end of the day and take a walk. Got my gym shoes at work all ready to go. The hard part will be NOT getting on the DIS and checking in (which I usually do before leaving the office). New plan: DIS on lunch break, treadmill 20-30 minutes before going home!

Have a good week everyone.

Still in Philadelphia until tonight I will send my weigh in first thing in the AM. This past week I walked just my daughter and me. I saw places and things that brought history alive for me. I also got more training in trauma, which always makes me happy and helps me to feel good about myself.:goodvibes Brenda for being such a good cheerleader...GO RED TEAM:cheer2: :cheer2:

QOTD: What I did good was I went to the gym every day but Thursday last week, 3 trainer sessions/3 cardio sessions.

Very small loss this week for the team. I actually hit 172 after the weigh in last week and there I've stayed. I think it may be that we moved from Phase 1 SB to Phase 2.

I'm having kind of a bad morning with this. It is just incredibly frustrating to me that I can work out regularly, stick to a diet and still not lose weight. I SO wanted to be below 170 this week.:sad1: :sad2:

Hey guys,

I lost 3.4 this week. Thankfully after gaining last week.

What I did this past week to be proud of: I made my goal at Weight Watchers and ran a 10 mile road race in the same day. Oh and I beat my husband by 10 seconds in the road race. :cool1:

Hi Team. I maintained this week, which is OK for me because I"m having TOM issues. Something I"m proud of this week ... we went away and spent a weekend with friends who live in the USA and are going to Shanghai China for a year, beginning in January. So we spent some great family time together playing games, chatting, took kids to the zoo, shopped!, and the guys got in one last round of golf for the season. :goodvibes We have been planning to do it, life always gets in the way, and once we knew for sure they were leaving for a year, it kicked us in the butt to commit to a weekend.

Hope your day is a good one. :)

Hi Red Team! Here's to another healthy week. I'm down .6 this week, so I'm happy about that. I do NOT lose weight fast, so even a little loss is a victory for me. I'm finally able to start seeing it in my clothes and body. I've only lost a total of 4, but I've been lifting weights also and they are making a pretty big difference in my body even though the scale isn't moving a whole lot.

Last night my friend and I went shopping and out to dinner and instead of splurging, we split a spinach salad for dinner. One of the biggest things I've learned in my new way of eating is to not treat every meal out like a special occasion. I really helps me save calories and money!

Sorry I have been MIA except for weigh in. Life is just too hectic to do anything for myself! I did lose a 1 lb this week. Sorry everyone!

I felt good this week about marching with my Junior Girl Scout Troop in the Veteran's Day Parade. It was about 2.5 miles and was a piece of cake. I had an ear infection and temp over 100 but did it, and it was below 40 degrees.

I also got the treadmill out and up two flights of stairs. It is dusted off and works great. Tonight I am going to do 30 minutes. I've actually been sleeping in and not getting to the gym at 7 on weekends.

Hope everyone is doing well!:cheer2:

I promised myself I would be totally honest with you all in hopes of helping myself get healthier...I am so proud I could bust right now...:goodvibes I carry a lot of my weight around my middle, I know that is so unhealthy but this is how my family is built and although I am not diabetic I am terrified of this. Anyhow I flew to Philadelphia on SW, got my extra seat and did NOT need an extender or the seat. Thought it was a fluke on the way down but on the way back did not need one either and I had room to pull the belt with about 3 or so inches left over. I am so proud. :goodvibes I am kind of ashamed  to say this here but again I said I would be honest. Thanks for listening and not judging me. Brenda my weight will be in to you tomorrow.

Good evening!

So finally the question is - What did you do this week that you are proud of? Weight wise, job wise, life wise, what ever. Tell me something good.

I am settling into my new job and loving it so far. Of course I am still in training until December 11 so we'll see how it goes as it progresses a bit more. I do have to say that I am learning more about life insurance and how claims are processed than I thought I would need to learn. My head hurts today from going over claim forms and codes.:headache:

Today I asked for weekend access to the building so I can use the workout room. I figure I'll start over the weekend so I can have quiet time there. The building is closed on weekends so you need to have a special approval on your electronic key to get in; right now I am set up for weekdays only. I'll have to look up some exercise stuff on-line so I know what to do with the universal machine and the free weights, it has been a long time since I have used either one. I had a weight loss this week which is always good. I also feel really good about my lunch choices. I bring my lunch every day and I pack stuff like salad, fuit, light yogurt, raw veggies, Smart Ones and sandwiches made with FF coldcuts and WW bread. Everyone else brings lots of junk type food: cookies, chips etc. I also stick to water and my diet white tea with peach or decaf hot tea. Lots of them are drinking the special coffees and pop. It is very hard to stick with the "good stuff" when everyone else is eating the GOOD STUFF!;) :rotfl:

But I've lost over 20 pounds now and I have no intentions of back sliding. Now if they all would stop bringing in doughnuts and muffins I would be much happier! Tonight I'm baking a pumpkin cake recipe from WW to take in. I hope they all like it because it is really good!

LET'S GO RED TEAM!!!

wtg! .6 is another .6 that you don't have to lose! Isn't it amazing how food seemed to play a big part in things and then you realize that food doesn't have to be the center of everything?

Sorry I have been MIA except for weigh in. Life is just too hectic to do anything for myself! I did lose a 1 lb this week. Sorry everyone!

Michelle, you GO GIRL! :thumbsup2 I've had to ask for the extender once or twice (kind of depending on the type of plane), so I know how great you must feel. I'm also an 'apple' body and working on loosing another inch around the middle just to avoid the possibility of a seat belt problem in three weeks.

So finally the question is - What did you do this week that you are proud of? Weight wise, job wise, life wise, what ever. Tell me something good.
Twice today I parked in a far away spot from a store and thought... "Man, if only this were the week of the WISH far-away parking spot challenge!"

I tend to put things off. And off...
But today I finally made it to an area library to take a look at some stuff in their Special Collection (historical research about the Civil War). I had been saying I was going to do it for some weeks...and finally made it there today. Unfortunately, the books didn't have what I thought they might, but *still* it might help.

I made some phone calls(local Civil War Round Table, County Historical Society) about my research (sensing a theme?).

The Head of the Reference Section at the Pennsylvania Archives called me back about a research request I had made about some 1700s material.

I remembered that we had run out of milk for our morning coffee and remembered to pick some up at the store. BEFORE I needed to use it.
And remembered this during the day! You know...sometimes you forget you're out of something - like coffee or milk or whatever - until you need it...and then it's kind of a Homer Simpson moment... "D'oh!"

I'm going to go to bed before 1am, I think I might make it before 11pm!!!

I finally picked up the phone and called someone who told me they'd help me with selling on EBay. Several years ago, I bought an incomplete set of china at an estate sale and I'll never use it and it's white Limoges with flowers.
I had been thinking of putting this set on on Ebay for...like...FOREVER. And today I started the process...

I love Tuesday because so many people check in on weigh in day. It's great to hear from you. Hopefully I will be able to respond later today to each team member. But now it's time for the

Red Team question of the day

Do you watch the Biggest Loser on TV? Can you see yourself as a contestant on the show?

Me first. I have watched every season of the Biggest Loser. It is very inspiring. Sometimes I know I could be a successful contestant, other times I think there is no way I could do that. I think I would be a winer when it comes to exercising in the gym. Winers usually get voted off first. I am also not a 'game' player. I would have a hard time deceiving people. I am also very emotional so I would be crying about everything at the drop of a hat, not great TV.

I have a large amount of weight to lose and I think it would be fun to lose say like 75 pounds on my own and then go on the show with my deep dark secret that I have been successful losing weight and with the help of the show lose the rest. I would keep my weight loss at home a secret from the other contestants but yak it up for the confessional camera. Of course I would win so I would have the money needed to get all the plastic surgery I will need after losing this weight.

I am four pounds away from a new clippie. This week I am going to focus all my energy on getting that clippie. It would be nice to have that done before Thanksgiving.

What are your goals this week? What are you going to do different? What are you doing well that you will continue?

Red Team ROCKS!!

Have a healthy day!

I would love the chance to be on the show in some ways, but I could never do it. The idea of having all that help to lose the weight would be fabulous. I guess what I would really like is to be able to go to one of those weight loss spas where you have your meals planned and all that training and exercises classes. The problem is I could never leave my kids for that long. I don't know how those people on the show with small children at home stand it. Three months is a LONG time to be away from home.

What are your goals this week? What are you going to do different? What are you doing well that you will continue?
Brenda, I'm going for a new WISH clippie too! We'll have to encourage each other. I know we can do it!:cool1:

I was actually a day late on my weight loss. This morning the scale FINALLY budged! The only thing I really did differently yesterday was that I took my day off from working out for the week and my trainer told me to add about 100 calories. I guess I was kind of in the same situation that Bryan from the show was in (too few calories), which makes NO sense to me mathematically, but that's how the body works I guess.
If I can just keep up this downward trend I'm hoping to get that new clippie by our next official weigh-in!

To answer the QOTDs

No I don't watch the Biggest Loser. I'm not really a fan of reality TV. And yes I could see myself on there.

My goals this week are just to keep plugging along and doing what I am doing. I watch what I eat and try to make sure that what is going in is healthy. I also try to pay attention to the I'm full signals that my body gives. I've been walking about 2 miles a day and recently added 2 lb weights to that. Overall I feel pretty good about how I am doing. I haven't had a gain yet which tells me that I am moving in the right direction.

It was nice to see everyone on Tuesday, but you left on Wednesday. Oh well I'm just grateful to hear from anyone at all. I just want you to know that we are here everyday, not just Tuesday. Stop by when you can. I know life is busy.

Our weekly numbers have been tabulated and emailed to the other team captains. I will get their numbers some time today and post our weekly results. Remember that I challenged everyone to step up their game this week. Well stay tuned to see how we did.

One week from today is Thanksgiving. Next week we will have several QsOTD pertaining to that. Maybe todays QOTD will invoke more responses than yesterdays.

Red Team question of the day

What is your favorite ride at WDW and when was the last time you rode it?

Me first. I am taking some liberty because my only trip to WDW was to Epcot in Dec 1996. Not too many rides per se at Epcot. I do fondly remember the kids squealing during 'honey I shrunk the ?? audience' or something like that. Do they even have that ride anymore? The 3D glasses, snake in your face, spit in the air, and mice running under the seats. What fun. DH & I went to DL in July 2005 and had a favorite ride there, technically I believe the ride was at CA. I enjoyed sorin'. DH and I are not big ride freaks and soarin' was just my speed. The scenery was breathtaking. I loved the pine and orange smells, what a neat touch.

Fun memories. What are your fond memories Red Team. Tell me about it.

Have a healthy day!

Brenda, they still have "Honey I Shrunk the Audience". My kids freak out when they get to the snake!

QOTD - My favorite ride I can do with the kids is the Teacups. I've always loved that ride. DH can't do it, though, it makes him sick. :confused3

My favorite ride with DH is Rocking Rollercoaster! It's his very favorite ride, so we try to do it at least 3 times on each trip.

Red Team question of the day
What is your favorite ride at WDW and when was the last time you rode it?

Currently my favorite ride is Expedition Everest....in the front seat! DD14 and I rode this over and over again on our special mom and daughter trip this past August. It was a much needed get away for dd14 and I and we had a blast!

My second favorite rides are Rocking Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. Since DGD4 was not with us on our last trip, DD and I ran back and forth between these two rides many times! I dearly love DGD4 but really cherished the alone time I got to spend with DD14. Its amazing how much more you can do when its just two of you!

My favorite ride at Disney is the Buzz Lightyear ride. I know, crazy, but my girls loved it so we went on it over and over again. Oh and it is fun to see my husband get excited shooting the targets. We went on it in August, our last minute trip and can't wait to go again Marathon weekend.

It looks like nobody really cares about this stuff like I do. Oh well I am a numbers freak!

#1 The Black Team 0.589 %
To beat them we would have had to lose an additional 10 pounds.

#2 The Blue Team 0.37 %
To beat them we would have had to lose 1 additional pound!
Yes 1 stinking pound!!

#3 The Red Team 0.352 %

The top five Red Team Losers for Week 10

#5 cccm (Celeste) .562 %
#4 jmmduck (Linda) .761 %
#3 Nancy .826 %
#2 lil mermaid (Laurel) .962 %

And the Red Team Week 10 Biggest Loser is ....
bridgetgabbie (Robin) 1.988 %

Congratulations to our Red Team Biggest Losers! I applaud your efforts and revere your success. You are my inspirations. So Losers, what is your secret, how do you do it, what is working for you?

Well Red Team we came in third place again. I challenged everyone to step up their game this week and this is what I get? As I sulked I decided to compare this week performance to last weeks. I discovered something amazing. Last week our percentage of weight lost was .175 % and this week was .352 %.

In one week we DOUBLED our percentage of weight lost.

Weigh to go Red Team!!!

Doubling our percentage is something to celebrate. Great job Red Team, we are really improving, we are really getting better. I know we can continue this trend. This week is the week to buckle down before Thanksgiving. A nice loss would really encourage us all to be in control for Thanksgiving. I know we can accomplish whatever we set our minds to with hard work and a good plan.

Have a healthy day!

Red Team Rocks!!!!

I don't have a single favorite. I really like:
Tower of Terror (especially at night)
Buzz Lightyear (but wish the guns at WDW weren't stationary)
Haunted Mansion (I like the re-do for the most part)
Peter Pan
Soarin'
Test Track

My DD & DH would add Expedition Everest to that list. I really like the ride *UNTIL* that last backwards spiral...((shudder)). My equilibrium gets shot & I feel queasy  for quite a while.

I used to really like RnRollRCoaster, but the track has gotten *very* rough, compared to the first time I rode it. I do think it's time for a rehab. (I always get a headache if I ride it.)

And for yesterday's QOTD...
I don't really watch Biggest Loser, don't really get into Reality Shows much anymore. They don't seem fresh or innovative to me any more and basically follow the same script from year to year. Sometimes I'll watch an episode or two, but not a must-see every week.
I could not do BL anyway, since they require you to sign your rights away (in terms of syndication, etc). I'm a union member and can't do that.

I bought that air climber thing I seen on tv and it is actually really fun to use and u sure feel it when you are done.. plus I started taking my vitamins and stuff like that... although I am still struggling with my water.. Hi Red Team!

Hmmm....what's my favorite ride at Disney?
I'd have to go with Tower or Terror! I love thrill rides and I love the theming of this one. I also really like Soarin. My least favorite would have to be Mission Space. I rode it around when it first opened and I spent the rest of the day feeling queasy and dizzy. It was the worst!

I have wedding this weekend I'm going to and I've already decided that I only get 2 glasses of wine and NO CAKE! Can I do it? I'll let you know after the weekend! :)

i've been mia for the last week because i had an exam that i was super worried about. turns out it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. i mean, we'll see, but i could answer all the questions, so i felt ok about it.

this week i have been trying to eat healthier than the last week. i've been eating small meals and i don't pig out with snacks. i've been very proud of myself. i also asked a friend of mine to make me a workout, which i am going to start after thanksgiving. it's too hectic to start it before then and try to keep it up when i go home for a weekend.

anyway, i just thought i'd pop in and say hi.

Another week begins. Life is getting busy. Thursday is Thanksgiving, next Wednesday my other two kids come to town with their families, and a week from Friday is the wedding. I just hope I can sanely make it through the next two weeks.

How was your weekend? How is your weight loss journey going? Are you ready for the challenge of Thanksgiving? Let's get ready, we can do this!!

Dr Phil says

Today we will begin a new feature of the Red Team thread - Dr Phil says. In the fall of 2004 Dr Phil released his book 'The Ultimate Weight Solution'. On his show he worked with 13 viewers to aid them in their weight loss journey. I bought the book, I bought the cookbook, I even bought the 2005 page a day calender.

I never read the book and here I am in the same place almost 3 years later. His book revealed his 7 keys to permanent weigh loss. Each day I will mention a key and share some thoughts from his calender.

Key One: Right thinking. What does this mean to you?

Me first. Right thinking is a mindset. To lose weight you have to be ready to lose weight. You have to be ready to commit to a life change. You have to tell yourself 24/7 that you can do it and that you will do it.

calender thought for the day: You can free yourself forever from the bondage of your weight struggles, as long as you acquire the tools and stay accountable and action-oriented in making the important changes required.

Red Team question of the day

What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Me first. DS will be with his fiancée and her family all day so it will just be DH and I here. We won't have that big of a meal because I do not need lots of leftovers around the house. Tomorrow's QOTD will address our plans for a healthy holiday. Anyway my real Thanksgiving will be Thursday the 29th when my other two kids, their spouses, and my one and only wonderful grandson are in town for the wedding. That night we will have a real Thanksgiving feast. The meal will probably not be too over the top because that day we have to help decorate the hall for the reception. This will not leave me a lot of time in the kitchen. We will eat like kings anyway but the most important thing will be spending time together as a family before all the kids leave again. Every time we part it is so hard because I usually never know when we will all be able to get together again.

So Red Team that is my story. What is your story? Check in today. Get ready tomorrow to make a holiday commitment. It's time to formulate the game plan that will successfully get us through Thanksgiving. The holidays are a wonderful joyous time but not a time to undo all the weight loss we have achieved so far. With Red Team support we can each make it through Thanksgiving without sacrificing any of those pounds we have worked so hard to lose.

Have a healthy day!

Morning red team!

Thanksgiving will just be sister, brother-in-law and I. We are going to a Thanksgiving brunch at a local resort. So our meal will be early, (11AM), with a large variety of foods to taste and NO LEFTOVERS.

I have big plans for this four day weekend to do some major household purging...especially my office/craft room. So I'm buying good groceries and eating at home for the rest of the time.

My MIL will be coming up from KC on Wednesday and then my sisters, BIL and nephew will be here Thursday morning and they're all staying through Saturday. Today I'm trying to get the house cleaned, launder all the blankets for the extra beds so they'll be fresh and figure out my gameplan for getting every cooked and to the table at the same time.

We're having a kind of unusual TG. DH is from KC and LOVES BBQ so I am having a BBQ feast shipped up here for him. I should just need to heat that stuff up. I'm also making all the sides to go with it. I'm still making a small turkey roast too because DD says you can't have TG without turkey!:scared1:

My main goal for the meal is to limit the starches (I LOVE potatoes) so I can still somewhat follow SB diet and just not gain weight this weekend. I plan to get up early on Thursday and get in a workout before I get to work in the kitchen to hopefully mitigate some of the damage. ;) It's also MIL's bday (big 65). There was a silent auction at our gym to benefit breast cancer research and I won a gc to a fancy bakery here so I used that to get MIL a cake. DH also got 2 pies at Costco! I'm going to be forcefeeding my guests so I won't have leftovers! :scared1:

Brenda - Good luck with all the wedding stuff. What a fun, yet stressful time, especially right in the middle of the holidays!

winniedapooh - how did the yard set up go? Can't wait to see your pics!

iggbees - Glad your test went well!

dizchick - How did the wedding go? Were you able to avoid the cake?

We are going to PA as soon as DD gets off the school bus on Wednesday...I hope the traffic out of the DC area won't be too awful (TG that they get out two hours early). I know that Thursday morning the traffic will be practically non-existent, but I really dislike getting up so early and being the "Get Up So We Can Drive Hours and Hours" Police and then having to drive and inevitably feeling like we are getting there late etc., etc.

I'm making an apple pie or two tomorrow to take for Thursday. It's hard to know what to take when we have to travel several hours.

My cousin wants to see some of my historical/family research files, I am avoiding getting those together by DIS'ing :teeth:. I swear, when this thing is done I should get a Masters or a PhD...it's been that much work. (And it started out so simply, too...)

PS - We just got back from another family function this past weekend.
