We are renovating our kitchen in the new year and need a few new appliances. I am planning on buying an over-the-range microwave at an american Home Depot or Best Buy, (mostly because the model I want is not available in Canada). But now I am thinking of getting our dishwasher there too...does anyone know if it is feasible to buy large appliances in the states? We don't have a truck, so we'd have to get it delivered. Anyone heard of stores delivering to Canada? Or know of a way to do this? The savings could be quite substantial, even with taxes and duty.

One thing you might want to check into is warranties - it is my understanding that not all warrantie are cross-border transferable.

Here is a link to store that has a relationship with a shipper/customs agent that is familiar with these types of transaction for Canadians.

You might want to make sure that US appliances meet CSA standards.

Your insurance company might have problem with non CSA electrical appliances.
