Recently I asked someone what they want to be when they grow up, the I realized, Wow. In two years I will be grown up, and will have to pick what I want to be for the next 80 years of my life. Scary thought.

It's not like if you pick you can never ever have any other career...

Author is what I did want to be.
More importantly I'm scared to say I changed my mind.
But I did.
I want to become a video game designer now. Of course with writing on the side.
That's what I want right now, who knows about next year. Sometimes I'm afraid to let go of the ambition I had for a new one. I was scared to think I wanted to be a video game designer more than an author but it's true.

3 and a half more years and I'll be out of highschool and starting my own life.
I can't wait but at the same time, I'm scared.
I'm scared that I'm not going to be succesful and I'm scared that I won't find anything that I would love to do when I do get into college.
I mean I know things to do that make me happy and I love playing video games, the graphics and everything about them, but I'm afraid that feeling is going to go away and that won't be what I want and I'll never figure out what I really want.

Yeah, maybe that's a sign that I'm really don't have the drive to do it and it's not for me, but it is right now, I'm just afraid of losing it.
I just don't want to college/highschool and get halfway through and decide that it's not for me, and everything that I was working for went down the drain because I changed my mind.

[Sorry if that post didn't make any sense at all.]

This is true.::yes::

I'd love to be a radio DJ. I love listening to music. I'd love being able to choose what song I would put on.

Although that is true, I still have to get some basic idea of what I want to be. For example, if I went to 8 years of college to be a doctor it would hard to go and be a business manager with that specific degree.

I think you should set yourself to be capable of different things so that if you dont like what you doing you can always change careers.

I know I want to be a Fashion Designer/Comedian. I've always wanted to be a Comedian since I was reallyyyyy little. I cant abandon that. My family always tells me I need to be in the comedy field, and I agree.

Yargh. Career. I've had enough of that word by now. -.- My parents keep going on and on and on about what THEY want me to be. It really bugs me that they expect me to do whatever they say. I still haven't decided on what I wanna do. But, why should I have? I've still 4-5 years until I hit college. Knowing myself, I know that I probably will keep procrastinating on my decision, and keep changing my mind. I mean, being a lawyer seems like the perfect job for me... My parents and my friends say that I argue a little too well. Heh. But, I don't wanna risk wasting my life going through college preping for that certain degree to find that I really don't want it.

Being the person I am, I know that my views and opinions will change along with my visions for the future. I'm not intent on choosing my career by the time my senior year comes by, because one year is a LOT of time to think about what you want to do with life. So, I guess what I'm saying is, that I'd prefer to deal with my decision later in life... But as for now, video game designer seems like a winner for me.

I agree, Kayla.
I change my future career around once a month.
Right now, I'm thinking a hotel reviewer, so I could constantly travel.
Last month it was a broadcast journalist.
The month before that, a pediatrician.

Whatever, I know I'll eventually find something I love.

I have the same "scared" type of feelings. It feels like it's all coming so fast and I'll be in college before I know it. Then I'll have all these potentially life changing desisions flying my way.

I'm going to college to study math and political science so I will be a mathematician, with a degree in mathematics you can pretty much do what ever you want. But I have wanted to be a lawyer for over 7 years and everyone I know thinks I will be a great lawyer. Also as a lawyer I can go into what ever law field I like, so right now I want to become a child's advocate butmaybe later I will want to be a criminal defense attorney, who knows? but i deffinately want to be a court lawyer.

Well i am one of those who will probally change professions 294302 times. I don't know what I want to be and yes it scares the heck out of me. I wish that i could figure out because it would really be helpful. I don't know what this life has in store for me but I am going along for the ride.

I really really want to work in DisneyWorld as anything pretty much:cloud9:.
My realistic job is a teacher, I've wanted to be a teacher for 12 years now so I'm pretty sure it's what I want to do.

A musician, with any luck. Or Disney employee, that would be super too, and some combination of the two is an ideal. I'm not closed to any other options, though, except that I'm going to try to stay in music no matter what other job I'll need or have.

Heh, I'm IN college and yet I still have no idea what I want to do with my degrees after I graduate...

As of right now, I'm a History major and Theatre Arts minor... But I've recently been thinking of switching to a double major in History and Theatre. But I still have no idea what I want to do.

If I work in the history field, I think I want to work in archives. I'm not going to pursue a career acting-wise, but maybe a theatre/broadway historian? I have no idea. lol

I have been toying with the idea of doing the Disney College Program after I graduate, and then try to get a job working in the Disney Archives or working for Disney Theatrical Productions. Again, I don't know... and I'm already a sophomore in college... ahhhhh. A little over two years until I actually have to face the REAL world. eep.

I always wanted to be an actress, but I thought that that would probably never happen. So now what I would love to do is to do something within the T.V or film business as that is what I would really like to do. Also I wouldn't quite like to be a teacher.

I want to work for a big journalist company.
My teachers/family/friends are always telling me
how great I am at writing. I love to write. It's like
a hobby I guess you could say.

But, I also would like to be an occupational therapist.
I love kids! I would love working with them.
I would want to work with the ones that are either
going through cancer or getting out of it.

Or..

I would want to be some kind of family lawyer.
I love arguing with people about things that i believe
in. So my mom thinks I will be a very good lawyer.

Or.. =]] (my last one!)
I love the show Law and Order. I just like the mystery in it.
So I would absolutely love to be one of those. I cant remember
what they are though!!

I'm not sure what I want to do.
There are days where I'd like to continue with art like things (drawing or writing) and days where I feel like I'd like to do something to do in the field of medecine.
These things interest me, but they don't keep my interested forever. I find science quite irritating sometimes, so being a doctor would be too much of an investment for me.

I've also considered A&R Rep, Travel Agent, human interest journalist...

List of things I've been looking into...

-- Social Worker for Child Services
-- Case Worker (helping out people on welfare)
-- Surgical Nurse/Anesthetist Nurse

Those are the big ones now. I've also been looking into a degree in psychology which would cover a career in social or case work. It sounds interesting to me.

I know I just need to find something I really love, something that will motivate me to keep going.

We'll just have to see what happens.

I honestly don't really have a set idea on what I want to be.

I have been really leaning to a field that deals with animals or meteorology.
I would love to be a tornado chaser and track storms.

I am at uni (English) studying History. However i dont want to be a historian! I want to work at disney after i graduate (if my boyfriend will let me, hes doing a degree in Mechanical Engineering). Afterwards i want to be a teacher, ether primary or special needs!

I love special needs kids, i work with them during the holidays, challanging but worth it!
