The Mummy Ride ...to much for a 6 yo?

How intense is this ride? My 6 yo is plenty tall enough but is it to much for him mentally? How did you kid do if he/she rode it?

my youngest Ds is 11 and I think it's too intense for him and it may only be me but i think it would be too much for a 6 year old

DD went on this when she was just turned 10, 2 years ago. The roller coaster was great and she loved it , but the theming of the ride which is excellent, scared her. We all went on again this year but she is still wary of the theming.
For a 6 year old might be a bit to intense, why not go on it yourself first, then make your decision if you think it would be fine or not, for them to ride

It has a pretty mean launch hill and lots of airtime shortly thereafter. Maybe you should try it first and then make the decision? I would think 6 years of age would be a bit too young but you never know what the child can stand.

My friend's DD8 loved the Mummy last year. Though she's been a ride nut for a while.

The coaster part may not be too bad, but the theming may be too intense. I've seen children of all ages come off either crying or loving it. It depends on how well they--the child--can take scary stuff such as mummies, zombies, and fire.

We just went in OCt. My son is 9 1/2. He got on, then started to freak out. Afterward, he wanted to ride it agian, so all in all we rode 4 times. My feeling is too intense for 6 year old.

Air time is when you experience weightlessness or coming out of your seat during a coaster ride. ROTM has plenty of that. It's what coaster buffs live for! :thumbsup2

ROTM has a launch system...kinda of like the Hulk where you are pulled up the hill with great speed and then you're free. So...instead of being pulled up slowly with a chain lift, you're blasted upwards. It's the same type of type with RnR at MGM but it RnR is flat...ROTM goes up a hill.

Does that make sense?

he loves ToT, RnR Coaster, Space Mountain. He can hardly wait til he is tall enough for the Hulk and DD.

Yes...It does make sense...I'll tell my "grandchildren" to close their eyes if they get scared...and to take deep breaths when they lift up from their seats....:scared1: :laughing: :laughing:

We just got back the weekend before Halloween, and my DS6 absolutely LOVED it!! It didn't seem to scare him at all. However, take into consideration, that he absolutely LOVES Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Splash, Thunder, Space, etc.... He is a thrill ride junkie!!

First off, I think that every child is really different. My son has been doing this ride and loving it a lot since he was 5 and tall enough to ride....LOVES IT!

I do have to add that the "launch" on this ride really isn't that much...if you compare it to Rock n" Rollercoaster, it hardly compares. I thought it was funny the first time we rode and didn't know what to expect. The girl sitting in the row with us told us to have our son put his head back because it was a fast start...we kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting.....

I agree that you should try it first so you know ... you are the one who knows your child the best/

We recommended my bro not take his 6yo son on it two weeks ago. But he's a wuss. You could show him the movie (as there are lots of themes and images from it on the ride and queue), and see if he freaks. My 9yo son loved it.

It really depends on the kid IMHO.
DD was 7 I believe the first time she rode. She was just shy of the height a few months before, and I had to measure her every week between our 2 visits. The theming she was fine with, the ride itself was a bit too intense.
She wouldn't ride again that trip, but rode multiple times a few months later

Way to intense. No way would I let my 7 year old go on there and I am sure he wouldn't even if I did. I rode once and was terrified. My husband felt sick for the rest of the day! He loved Everest so not usually adverse too fast rides.

Friend's DD8 is exactly the same. We have an agreement in our group that when we come back after riding DD and Hulk we pretend they weren't that great. She sees through it I'm sure but she can't stand not being able to ride them now.

Bad news is I think she's going to be too short again this year. She wants to be measured whenever she comes over.

Of course it depends on the kid but I would think in general too intense for a 6 years old.
For example it was my DD 13 fav ride (we went on like 4 times)
My DD 10 and DS 8 who are on the scared side when it comes to big rides, rode it once, liked it, like that they did it, but didn't want on again.
When I say intense I am referring to the ride itself not really the affects.
Before he went on, my son was afraid of the mummies themselves, he thought they were going to jump out at you and come real close, they don't , I had to convince him of that :goodvibes before he would try it

Yep..... I don't think it would be that big of a deal in the light, but the fast coaster elements are for the most part in the dark. You can see things around you, but you can't see the track. From what I've been told the drops aren't really that high at all (highest is 40ft?) but the dark makes it feel a lot higher and faster.

Daughter was tall enough to ride last weekend. Loved it. She's 6. Personally Everest and TOT is way more intense.....I think this one has a Mummy...a dead guy..as the main character...and no two ways about it, I dont care how much you fluff it up, you wont get a cuddly mummy doll out of it like you do with Yeti.

Another one who believes it depends on the kid.

When we were there my kids were 5, 8 and 10. We all were in the queue and about half-way through my dd (5) decided she was scared so my husband took her out.

The other couple who were with us had a 5 & 10 yr. olds. They both rode it and the five year old boy was TERRIFIED and was very ticked off that his parents 'let' him ride :lmao: . He was mad at them for a while and was reluctant to go on other rides that he couldn't see for sure what was going to happen (like Spidey).

The other kids loved it and couldn't get enough of it. I don't think the actual ride would scare a six year old, but it's the theming that gets them (imo).

I think it depends on the child - my six year old rode it and she was fine we showed her the movie before she went and she knew a little what to expect. My other six year old was not tall enough to ride but when she is she wants to and I think she will be able to handle it

my thought on this is watch out that it doesn't trumatize the chid cause my ds 11 will not do spiderman the mummy or posiden due to honey i shrunk the audience at epcot when he was 9 due to the 3D lion and snake and I know it sounds silly but he is terrified of them but he wants to ride the hulk doctor doom and any other but if its 3D for get it.
just explane the ride to them and tell them it could be very scarey for them :santa:
