:cool1: So, we're heading back January 5-10, 2008!
We already had a trip planned for March 10-14, 2008 because DS's high school band is marching in MK that week, but that is a different trip.
This January trip has only been in the works for a week, but it's already all planned. Yeah!
We hadn't planned to go before June 2008 because of the March trip, but we had some DVC points that had to be used before May 31st and have been trying to get family and friends to use them, but alas they are all in the same boat we were...no time to go. :sad2: (Not!) Okay, let me say that we had no time for the entire family (DH, DS, and myself) to go. DS has such a heavy class load and activity schedule that he can't afford to miss any school unless it's because he is sick. So, DH said then we just have to go ourselves, provided someone can stay with DS. :woohoo: When I asked my dad if he minded staying with his only grandson, he didn't hesitate to say yes. DS is actually happy to stay home...he's become quite the social butterfly this year and he's hoping my dad will let him drive whichever car he brings...Grand Cherokee or Dakota, both of which DS would love to get when he turns 16. :lmao:
This will be the first trip to WDW for just the grown-ups and it's kinda been hard to figure it out, but after getting the dining requests from DH everything just fell into place.:goodvibes
Got a decent price on our flight out of St. Louis to MCO on Southwest, but had to take a later afternoon flight because the time I really wanted was sold out, but that is fine since we've got a 2 hour drive to the airport.
We'll arrive around 7pm on Saturday, January 5th, get checked in at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, run over to MK to get our Annual Passes then head to DTD for a quick bite, unless DH wants to grab something at VWL or in MK. Either way it's off to indulge DH's love of the Adventurer's Club and maybe a stop at Comedy Warehouse.
I've decided this trip is gonna be ALL about DH. :rolleyes1 Seriously, I love him and I love Disney, but he's not been since Christmas 2005 and I've been twice since then, so I'm gonna spoil him and hopefully we can keep sneaking down for these "have to" trips. ;)
Sunday, we'll head to House of Blues for the Gospel Brunch, another on of DH's favorite things to do, either hang out in DTD or go straight over to the Studios. (My only requirement is to see the Osborne Lights because we've not seen them before...too many other things on those trips.) Dinner is at Mama Melrose's and later that night maybe head to MK or back to the resort.
Monday, we'll check out of VWL, stow the bags and head into MK for a late breakfast at Crystal Palace and hanging out for the afternoon in the park. Later we'll grab the bags and switch resorts for the rest of our trip. We're staying at SSR so once we get there and in the room we're set for both of us to have swedish massages at the Spa, another of DH's "have to's" for this trip then just relax in the room with a movie.
Tuesday, is up early to head to Epcot for the Around the World Segway Tour. Okay, DH is the one who really wants to do this, but so do I so it's for both of us. That evening we'll have dinner at Akershus. Uh, yeah, DH wants to eat here for the princesses. :rotfl: We both want to try it because we haven't eaten there before so it's fine. DH is a really BIG kid and I think this might end up being pretty fun.
Wednesday, we're gonna head to AK then for dinner that night we're going to California Grill and I got a time that works with the fireworks!:woohoo:
Thursday, we have a mid/late afternoon flight so we'll play it by ear.
I've heard that the crowd sizes for this time of year should be pretty low compared to our other visits, which would be awesome! I told DH that we may end up finding that this is our new favorite time of the year.
So, that is my pre-trip report! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
