I bought the same combo that you have

Groucho wrote" I've also got the Slik Pro 714 CF II and am quite happy with it. (How are you liking yours, MM?) I picked up a Bogen/Manfrotto 484RC2 and it's a pretty nice combination. The Slik is a bit lighter and stronger than similarly-sized aluminum tripods."

And also based on several other DIS thoughts..Neither myself nor DS can figure out how to mount the ball head on the Slik 714.. If I use the plastic cover over the screw it's too small and if I take it off the ballhead just spins around as the whole is too big. There must be a secret to this but I cant figure it out :lmao:

How are you attaching your 484RC2 to the 714?

Thanks

I can't speak for groucho, but I had to buy some of these when I bought new heads for my tripods and monopod..

Mickey88 answered it... you need some sort of adapter. You can also get those from BH Photo Video for all of $3 or $2 or so. Ah, here (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/503797-REG/General_Brand_ST651_3_8_to_1_4_20_Tripod.html) it is, $1.95. I think that's the right one though you may want to double-check the specs on the tripod and head.

I actually didn't have to worry about it as I have a Bogen monopod that a friend gave me (picked it up for $2 at a garage sale! and decided he wouldn't use it) and that already had the necessary adapter on it, which is slightly different than the others I've seen, but it works just fine. I would think that if I didn't have that, I'd go with a bushing like in the link.

That's exactly what I did, I got one of the bushings and it works like a champ I have very similar to groucho, just a slightly different ball head

Thanks all for the quick answer. I will first check with Ritz Camera and see if they have these and if not I will order.
