Hi Denine,

We'll be there!! That week is fall break for our kids, so it makes a great time to take a cruise.

Did you know there was already a 10-12-02 thread started, but I don't think it would be possible to easily find it without having search available (unless someone saved a link to it).

Count us in for the 10/12/02 Western cruise. So excited to see the excursions posted. It doesn't seem quite so far away, now. We are booked 6 days after the cruise at OKW, unless DVC offers Fall Fantasy rates and I can convince DH that a back-to-back is the way to go. Here's hoping!

Yes, we are doing back to back cruises. The first week is DVC points, the 2nd week we booked last October on board.

Firefighter Mickey: I didn't feel like searching for the other thread, now that we don't have the search function.

I can't decide what excursions to take. so many look interesting.

We were originaly scheduled to sail on 11/9. Yesterday we decided we just couldn't wait that long and switched to 10/12.

We still have the same cabin, 6002, the bubble room.

Has anyone ever stayed in the bubble room? Was it much of an inconvenience?

I'm sailing on the Magic then too. Made the reservation last year as soon as I heard about the western Caribbean ports. Looking forward to it -- but that means winter is not far behind again. That I can wait for.

I don't know about the 7 dayer on 10/12, but we just booked the 4 dayer on the Wonder for 10/13/02 with follow on DVC 3 nights at Wilderness. Can't wait and we just got back from Disney on feb 16th from a 7 dayer at BWV.

We are booked on the Magic 10/12/02. Our first cruise was 9/00 on the 7 day Magic. We had an awesome trip. I am looking forward to the western itinerary. I am disapointed though because I heard there would be no fall fantasy rates this year and the discounts currently being offered have only been on eastern carribean cruises. Is it true there will be no fall fantasy? My children are also on a school break that week. We are all excited about it but it still seems so far away.:bounce:

Magicbrooms, what is the bubble room, that's a new one on me?:)

I call 6002, 6004 the bubble rooms because when you look at the ship's diagram, you can see that the rooms are not perfectly triangular like the rest of them. There is a bubble that is split between the back of those two rooms. I have an old brochure from before the Magic was even put on her maiden voyage. Those two room were actually originally considered to be outside cabins in that brochure - but they never got portholes because they decided that, for structural reasons, they needed to put a bubble in there. My rough measurements against the brochure suggest that those rooms are slightly larger than the other category 11s. But I'm really not sure. I was just wondering if anyone had ever actually been in a bubble room and could tell me exactly what is going on in there.

Also, regarding the demise of Fall Fantasy rates, we were able to get the standard old FF rate (i.e., $799 for CAT 11) on the 10/12/2002 just last week. If you go to mousesavers, you'll see that AMEX offers a code very similar to FF. The only catch is you've got to use your AMEX card to book the resie...

We will also get the White Glove treatment for using the AMEX.
And, we're CC Club members (for what that's worth).

We booked through DU and got a $75 discount on top of the AMEX rate.

See you on-board!

Magic brooms, Do you think it is too late for me to apply for an amex card and get the discount. Our resie for the same week is $3100 for 2 adults 2 child. The only good thing is we have a cat 10 but got one of the secret porthole rooms. We also booked through dreams unlimited.

Gosh mo64rn, I hope so.

I think it's good that you booked through DU. They will work to get you the best fare, even after you've booked. But if you didn't use your AMEX to begin with, you may have to cancel your resie and hope you can book a new resie with the AMEX before somebody else grabbed your secret porthole.

You really might have a good deal at $3100 anyway. The $799 is per adult and it's $399 per child 3 and up. So, that's almost $2400 right there for a CAT 11. I know it's another $100 for the CAT 10 because I priced them. So that's $2500. Port charges and taxes bring that up to about $2780. That doesn't include airfare or transfers or trip insurance. It looks like you're already from Florida, so you won't need airfare and transfers. But if you've also got trip insurance in your $3100 and the secret port hole... How's that old Kenny Rogers tune go? "You gotta know when to hold em' " ?

Remember, I think the AMEX card costs about $50 to get if you don't already have one.

I know that there is also a Florida residents only price that DCL sometimes runs. I don't pay too much attention because I don't live in Florida, but I think it's pretty good.

You might want to check on mousesavers or with DU to see if that would work for you.

Incidentally, I do know that the cabins are rectangular - not triangular. I should know better than to post on this board before I've had my first cup of coffee on a Saturday morning! :D :p :)

See you on the Magic!

Magic Brooms,
Thanks for your reply. I emailed my TA Donna at DU and basically she told me the same thing. I would have to cancel my existing resie and hope I can still get the deal and possibly lose my secret porthole room. I don't think I want to take a chance. I still have some hope that although maybe it won't be called FF they have to have some special deal for that time of year it being huricane season and all. Right now there is a Fl resident special only through 5/18. The problem is I don't want to take my kids out of school and I definitely want to do the western itinerary. I also called DCL myself and was told there were no rooms left for the 5/18 cruise. Who knows? Maybe there will be a FL resident special again in the fall. I will keep my mouse ears open and my fingers crossed. Thanks again. See you on the cruise.

Magic Brooms: We are right down the hall in 6011. We were in 6007 but had to change because we couldn't get that cabin for both weeks. So we will be in 6011 for 2 weeks.
It is very quiet in this part of the ship.

MO64RN: Are you an RN? I am.

Wow Denine,

2 glorious weeks! That's great! Will the 10/12 be your first or second week?

It's good to know that other folks from this board will be close by.

I'l be sure to say hello to you when I see you coming out of 6011. Or, if you spot me first, you can say "Hi".

Our family is pretty easy to recognize. We're the ones always walking around with buckets of water in our hands... :D :p :)

Our DS will be 7 & 1/2, and our DD will be almost 3 by 10/12.

Will you be bringing any children along?

See ya on the Magic!

I work in an Assisted Living facility for people with Alzheimer's Disease. It is a unique place in that we don't kick people out when they start needing total care. We see them through to the end, including hospice. It is the best nursing job I have held.

10-12 will be our first week. We booked the 10-19 cruise when we were on board last October. We wanted to go on another cruise, so we decided to do the back to back cruises. Being on the Magic for 2 weeks straight is like a fairy tail! More nights at Palo's, the fabulous brunch, the wonderful service...

There is just my husband and myself. They won't allow my 4-footed children on board :)

Can't wait!
