Is anyone else "hopping" over the border to get a Turkey?

Wegmans has then for 29 CENTS a pound this week & next.. you have to spend $25 to get that price but the original price of the Turkey is included in that $25! (99 cents a pound reg price) I am going on Monday night. Just wondered am I the only one doing this.. I find it a huge saving per pound and I go every year!

i will be going US shopping next week, i avoid the weekends at all costs but thanks for the Turkey info!!! Will make sure we stop at Wegmans

Just a heads up too.. you have to have their shoppers club card which is free to get that price otherwise it is 99 cents a pound. Canadians can get this card too!

I always go to TOPS to pick up a Butterball. This week it was .99 a pound with their card. Lowest I've seen over here is $1.99, usually $2.49. Got me an 18-pounder for $18 U.S. which was probably about $17 CDN! Butterballs are the best!

Thanks for the Wegmans tip! I bought a turkey several years ago when down for the day just before US Thanksgiving -- it was one of the best turkeys :)

I personally love the pop up timer in them so you KNOW when they are done with out using a meat thermometer.

I have 2 in the freezer from Super Walmart (in Michigan) that were 79cents per pound. Kroger usually has them around 29cents so I need to keep an eye out. I usually grab one if they are under 99cents per pound. We love turkey.

I have always said when crossing the border that I got groceries and got a Turkey.. I think they are used to hearing that when the price is this low.. our lowest price in the area is $2.49 a pound.. huge difference!

We live in a border town and buy groceries in the States many times. We don't have to smuggle anything. I just tell them the amount we spent and that it was on groceries. I'm not sure how much you are allowed but we've come back with up to $150 with no problem.

Is anyone else a little cautious about eating American meat? Their standards for inspection are quite a bit different (i.e. lower) than they are in Canada if you really look at the policies. I try to only buy organic, local meat in the States, where I can talk to the farmer. Just a heads up.

I bought an alomost 20 pounds turkey at Walmart in Preque Isle, Maine. It was .78 cents a pound. Payed $14.99 for it!
