View Full Version : Mom, Dad, Boyfriend, and ME this should be interesting! (pre-trip)

Ok so this is my first time. I’ve been reading everyone else’s pre-trip and Trip reports and decided I had to write one. I don’t know if I’ll have time but I’m sure going to try. I am the one doing all the planning and arrangments for this trip. (Who trusts there 18yr old daughter to run everything??? Smar PARENTS!)
First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Ashley I am 18years old and currently a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have two jobs, one is a sales associate at the Dollar Tree and the other is as a Mad Scientist (we go to local elementary schools and get kids interested in science by doing experiments). I absolutely love Disney it IS my favorite place on earth right above being on stage, at the beach, and in BJ’s arms. I have been to Disney 7 times before now and have loved every minute of being there. We went for my 16th birthday (5/5/05) and my mom’s 40th (5/4/05). The official date of the 50th anniversary, it was amazing. Our last trip was in December of 2006. It was an “aw” moment to see Disney decorated for Christmas and I loved MVMCP! The snow and cold weather worked perfectly I will NEVER forget it.
My mom Sheila is 42 and is going to kill me for posting her age on the Internet. She also works at the Dollar Tree as an Assistant Manager. She is quite but is very loving and sweet. She doesn’t LOVE attention to say the least. She enjoys Disney World but thinks that the bills should be paid before we go to Disney (is she crazy). Her favorite characters are Tigger, Tinkerbell, Cinderella, and Snow white. She has issues with her hip and feet. This means she does not enjoy all the walking in Disney World.
My dad Chris is 42 and loves Disney just about as much as I do. He is a construction worker and has been for over 20 years. Right now he is currently unemployed which means the amount of money coming in to my parents has diminished substantially. He is planning on applying for work in Disney World when we go on our trip in January. I think he may be going through a mid-life crisis. Not that Disney is a bad place to work but moving from North Carolina to Florida for a job doesn’t sound very reasonable to me. His favorite character is Sorcerer Mickey and what every Disney movie is out on DVD (they don’t have cable/satellite so all they do is watch movies).
BJ is my boyfriend of over 14monthes. We went to high school together and never really got to know each other until the summer before senior year (when his granddaddy passed away). I really didn’t want to get into a relationship but God put me there and I’m very thankful. BJ works at Rose’s as a stock guy and has been working there over 2years (the pay is horrible 6.35 /hr). He will be starting at the community college in the fall of 2008. He has NEVER been to Disney World! Actually he has never been out of the state except when he went with me to S.C. (His parents are over protective) *sad face*. I would say he doesn’t have a favorite character but it would probably have to be Woody. He reminds me of Woody because he’s tall 6’6” and he has had a woody doll since he was little.
This is going to be interesting…
I'm going to update when i get the chance I am a college student and very BUSY! I'll always update in Blue so you can find it!
Coming next time our Trip Reservations changes 1, 2, and 3…. Hopefully no more…

My parents and I try to make Disney World an annual event. It will be exactly 1year and 1month since the last time we visited the World when we arrive on January 7th.
My boyfriend who has never been to Disney and doesnt like to get his hopes up or plan ahead is coming to (I think). Long story short he was supose to go with his parents, little sister, aunt, uncle and two cousins a few years and ago. It was about a week before they were going to leave and out of the blue his parents said were NOT going to Disney World, We can't afford it. Imagine he ahd been telling all of his friends that he was going and he was antisipating it and then they didnt go.
When my parents and I went in December 06 DBf and I had been dating about 3monthes. Not long enough for them to feal it was ok for him to go to WDW with us. Even if they had his parents would have said no. Not to mention I missed a whole week of school. *A quick note his parents are very strict :scared: on him even now that he's 18 and were not going to let him go with me and my parents about an hour and 1/2 away and stay for the weekend for my birthday (18) in Myrtle Beach.
Sorry for such a brief update must go to class.
Next time a car accident:scared1: , kidney stones (and infection) , Health insurance :sad2: and even more....

It may feel like I am giving you the history if me and my family but one must know these things in order to understand more about our trip. Tell me if I am giving TMI. Thanks
My father (who has no health insurance) lost his job because his boss could not find any jobs for the "crew" to do. He is a construction worker and our area is growing quickly so one would think Construction jobs would be multiplying. This is true but all of the jobs are filled and when my father asks if they need any help they tell him "you wont work for what I'm paying this men." This is important to note because right after my father's " lay off" he got kidney stones which led to a kidney infection which led to days in September. With no income or health insurance.:scared1:
At the end of September my DBf got in a car accident. No one was hurt and all that happened was his bumper was knocked off. It was "his fault" ( i could argue against this but I will not do so). His insurance paid for the other guys car. He and his father fixed his car. All is good, except now his insurance went up $$. Around this same time my loving naive boyfriend ran up his parents cell bill approximatly $275 in one month going on the internet. That he must now pay for.
I drive home 3 1/2hrs every other weekend. Gas prices are on the rise and it costs approximatly $40-$50 to fill up my tank.
And yet we are STILL going!

-We've never used ParkHoppers and we might just go crazy:rotfl: with them.
-We budget ourselfs to approx. $30 a day a piece for food :mickeybar .
-We still have to pay it off!!! By the 22nd in order to get our discounts and stuff.
-I love shopping! (There is a Disney Outlet in Myrtle Beach calling my name)
-ADR's are made for Jan 11 at CP for 8:05am. We've never eaten there. (Hope its good)

Nothing new really. Except for money wise my dad, mom, and I have our part of the trip payed off. My DBf on the other hand does not. I have a question.
We are supose to have our trip payed off by the 22nd of Nov. My DBf does not get his pay check until the 23rd. WIll disney let us still pay it off and keep all our reservations if we call and let them know and are a day late??

You can make your payment over the phone, or on-line. Go to their official website and you can put your ressie # in and it should pop up. You can make your payment there too. I would definately call them.

I havent updated in awhile since no one is reading. But I do have somethings that makes me happy! We're leaving earlier than expected (assuming we can get the room) our dates have changed to the 5-12 of january!!! :woohoo: yay for extra days!:cheer2: I'm super excited our trip is a Month and 2days away! Now that we have the majority paid for my DBf is getting excited.... HE will fall in love!!!:rolleyes1 with Disney.
Christmas is coming up and I've been Disney shopping for presents in order to get everyone ready.
Mom: A winne the pooh shirt and a tinkerbell book cover (so far)
Dad: Ariel book cover (dont ask), cars crayons, and Cars tattos
BJ: Woody stuffed "animal", Remi stuffed animal
I have all intentions to buy some pins before Christmas as well to get everyone in the mood. Plus some other things!

:cheer2: We've finally paid it off!!! :cheer2:
On that note I must say this. Disney is the BEST. We were unable to pay off our package 45days out like you are supose to. So I called them and asked what to do. The very nice CM told me that I would recieve a notice and that as long as it was paid 30days out I should be fine. I then told her when we could make the last 2 payments and she said ok I'll put a note on your account. Then when we missed the 2nd payment I recieved another notice, I then quickly replied and told them we would send the money in a few days and everything was fine. The CMs worked so well with us and completly understood. :)

Our Vouchers came in the mail today!!!!
Yay! I cant believe its getting so close. I am offically home for Christmas break and will not go back to school until the day after we get back from Disney. (No time for me to relax.):worried: But it'll be ok because Im going to be in the Happiest place on earth with my parents and boyfriend.
So even though this is my 8th time going there are still going to be a few firsts for me this trip:
1. First time I can remember (I think I did one when I was 5) eating a character breakfast.
2. First time eating at Crystal Palace.
3. First time being in the parks for 5days.
4. First visit to Disney Quest.
5. First Time trying a Dole whip.
and some others to come I just dont know them yet!:earsboy:
Hope everyone else's trip planning is going good!
oh btw I got my parents a Cinderella Toaster for Christmas! When you make toast it has a glass slipper on it!!! YAY:cool1:
Also my DBF now has 3stuffed animals he will be getting for Christmas. Dad has some temporary tattos and an Ariel Picture frame. (yay Biglots)

So I had originally posted that we were going to be in WDW the 5-12 well actually we hadnt booked it yet. So I called to book and ended up only getting one more night. Which was fine with me. About 1hour ago my dad texts (Yes he can text, it suprised me too) saying that since the for cast is showing a 60% chance of rain we should add another day. Fine by me but I can't put in any more money and IMHO i dont think he can afford it. HOW cant I tell him NO while my heart is screaming one more day YAY!!!?
I'm counting down I cant believe the time is almost here we leave SUNDAY (unless it changes to Saturday). Its funny I was expecting temps. like what we had in Dec 06 and the forcast is calling for 60-80. SO I have all this cold weather stuff and nothing for the warmth.... so sad... must shop (lol)
Hope everyone is doing good and had a great Christmas AND Happy New Year.

If anyone is still reading I have a question. I lost our reservation # for breakfast at the CP so how exactly would I go about getting it if it's lost? We leave Sunday, should I just call Disney Dinning? Or can I just wait till i get there and assume that the CM behind the desk can help me? Thanks!

I'm excited for you and your family and DBF. Disney seems to make all right in the world....
